Pregnancy success stories after 2 miscarriages

Hi

I have had 2 miscarriages this year trying to conceive my first child. I'm 32 and have no known illnesses or anything which may impact my fertility.

I had a miscarriage at 5 and half weeks which was probably more like a chemical and got pregnant straight after again. Unfortunately, I then had a mmc at 9 weeks and baby was only measuring 6 weeks (we saw the heartbeat at the first scan).

I had surgical management with the second one on early June and found out yesterday that my hcg is now now to 48 so hopefully my cycles are almost at a point of being reset.

Just wanting to hear some positive stories from people who have had 2 or more miscarriages and had a successful pregnancy just to keep my moral up until my cycle is back. Currently I feel like a failure and that something is wrong with me. I feel like I will never be able to have a child. Some days I'm more positive but I think hearing from other may help.

Thanks in advance ❤️

Thank you all for sharing your stories. Sorry for all of your losses. It's helpful to learn that it's so common but also really sad to learn that so many people have to go through this.

@RoseAndGeranium thanks for the link, I've had a read through it and it's nice to see the statistics from a more realistic approach. The ones I have Google's previously make you feel like you're in this tiny group of people but actually when you see the real statistics. It's a lot more common that you'd expect.

Just can't wait for my period to arrive now and get trying again. I know everyone is different and some like to wait a while before trying again. Personally I find that wait unbearable and would like to keep going forward as it seems to ease the pain ever so slightly. Fingers crossed I can join the 3rd time lucky club (although not a club anyone would want to be part of).

Yep, me!
Two mmc's, both discovered at 12 week scan. Got pregnant again very quickly after second loss and spent whole pregnancy worried.
Went on to have three gorgeous children with no other losses. I read something very reassuring during one of my lengthy Google sessions looking for reassurance- two consecutive miscarriages is still much more likely to be unlucky than a sign of something wrong.
All the best, and a happy and healthy 9 months to you

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s awful when it happens once but twice is completely crushing.
I was fortunate to have a successful first pregnancy (son, now 3) but I then suffered two miscarriages (at 12 weeks and 6 weeks). Happily, I’m now 31 weeks pregnant. Baby’s having a little wriggle now. I felt incredibly bleak after my second mc, so I hope you’re holding up ok.
A couple of things I read at that time that may help if you’re feeling as scared as I was that it would happen again:

  1. One study I read found that miscarriages that occur very early (prior to fetal heartbeat, so before around 6 weeks) are much more common and much less indicative of a maternal abnormality than multiple later losses. So it may actually be reassuring that your first loss happened so early.
  2. The risk of having a further miscarriage is only very slightly raised by having two in a row. There’s a section on it in this excellent and very facty, well-referenced blog post about miscarriage statistics if you want to know more: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/expectingscience.com/2015/08/26/lies-damned-lies-and-miscarriage-statistics/amp/

Wishing you all the best as you recover and lots of luck for next time. X

Sorry to hear this and I know just how you feel. I had two MMCs prior to a healthy pregnancy and gave birth at 36. Then went on to have another baby. Spoke to some friends and family about it and it turns out that absolutely loads of people I know have experienced the same, sometimes more than twice. Wishing you all the best, it’s a hard road but a well trodden one! Xx

@blakeway45 aww congratulations, so good to hear it's going well! God I can imagine the anxiety, it's bad enough after one mc. Thanks for sharing

@OhWhyDidTheyDoIt @zeromango lovely happy stories to hear ☺️ I was thinking of trying aspirin as I had a blood clot in January due to a mixture of surgery and being on the pill (even whilst taking blood thinning injections). Drs said they won't test my blood yet though which is annoying! Might start taking baby aspirin next time. I've heard it can't hurt even if thick blood isn't an issue. Fingers crossed it makes a difference.

@Riggles78 thanks for your reply. It's nice to hear that someone of the same age has had some success, makes me feel so much more positive

Thanks all for sharing and sorry that you all had to experience the losses as well but sounds like you've all got your precious little ones eventually 💕

Sorry for your losses OP Thanks
I had 2 losses, a MMC at 12 weeks for which I had the surgical management and a natural loss at 6 weeks.
Same age as you and had some basic blood tests done after the second by the GP to check there wasn't anything obvious wrong but all came back normal.
I conceived the cycle immediately after the second loss and carried to term with no issues, she's happily snoozing away on my lap!

zeromango · 13/07/2021 20:09

So sorry to hear this OP. I had a very similar experience- MC at 6 weeks and then a MMC at 10 weeks which needed surgery.

NHS wouldn't help until I'd had 3 so after a lot of research I decided to take baby aspirin (75mg) from BFP and it resulted in my DD. I've done the same again this time around and I'm now 15 weeks. No idea if it helped but a lot of
People use it. Obviously speak with your doctor etc first but when I told them I was taking it neither the midwife or consultant was concerned and they would have made me take it from 12 weeks anyway due to clotting risks in the family. Good luck Smile

OhWhyDidTheyDoIt · 13/07/2021 19:50

I had 3 early (6w, 8w,11w) miscarriages before 4th pregnancy. Results (plus 5th) are currently 15yo and 13yo watching some Star Wars tatt on television in the sitting room

It is so tough. So flowers. But as PP said, you are falling pregnant which is a massive step in the right direction.

I was referred after my 3rd miscarriage. No apparent reason for any of them but I was put on aspirin (thick blood runs in the family) and progesterone when pregnant with the ones that ended successfully.

Good luck and unMNetty hugs.

Sorry to hear about your experiences. I had two miscarriages last year too (one at 6 weeks and one at 12 weeks) and am currently 21 weeks pregnant. Anxiety this time has been a bit*h but things are going ok. Keep positive. I hope it happens soon!

nacarlos89 · 13/07/2021 19:28

@Purple21 congratulations on your baby, it's lovely to hear a happy story.

I'm just entering my 6th week after the surgical management so i think it could be about week 8 for my period to return too.

Yeah I guess it is good that I am actually getting pregnant and both have been the first try which I am so grateful for. I guess it just takes a bit of patience. I've finally made it back to the gym after the mmc and am trying to focus on being healthier as I think that also improves mental health.

@Whereland aww so happy to hear your current pregnancy is going well. I imagine when you've been through one mc or more it makes getting what you want even more magical. Wishing you loads of positivity and happiness in your pregnancy.

Thanks both for sharing, it really does make me more positive about continuing to try 💕

So sorry to hear of your losses.
I'm a little different in that I initially had two healthy pregnancies and when trying for my third had a mmc discovered at 9 weeks. Had medical management. Had a chemical pregnancy a couple of months later. Got pregnant again a couple of months later- felt very nervous and cautious about getting excited but I'm currently 21 weeks Smile

Purple21 · 13/07/2021 17:31

I'm very sorry for your losses Thanks
I've had both a CP and MMC, third time lucky for my DS!
You are absolutely not a failure, very sadly they are both very common and no answers really as to why.
It took 8 weeks after my D&C for my period to return.
Remember, you are falling pregnant, if you weren't, that's a different story.
