Pregnancy success stories after 2 miscarriages

nacarlos89 · 13/07/2021 17:27

Hi

I have had 2 miscarriages this year trying to conceive my first child. I'm 32 and have no known illnesses or anything which may impact my fertility.

I had a miscarriage at 5 and half weeks which was probably more like a chemical and got pregnant straight after again. Unfortunately, I then had a mmc at 9 weeks and baby was only measuring 6 weeks (we saw the heartbeat at the first scan).

I had surgical management with the second one on early June and found out yesterday that my hcg is now now to 48 so hopefully my cycles are almost at a point of being reset.

Just wanting to hear some positive stories from people who have had 2 or more miscarriages and had a successful pregnancy just to keep my moral up until my cycle is back. Currently I feel like a failure and that something is wrong with me. I feel like I will never be able to have a child. Some days I'm more positive but I think hearing from other may help.

Thanks in advance ❤️

just wanted to update you on my story - I fell pregnant two cycles after my first miscarriage but I’ve now had confirmed another missed miscarriage (second in a row) which I am devastated about. I have no living children and 37 soon so I am really panicking it is not going to happen for me and my partner 😢. Wishing you all the luck 🍀

So sorry to hear this, Laura. I too was told yesterday that we've had our second missed miscarriage of the year. I was quite surprised as I really didn't think it would happen again. I'm 36 so I feel your pain on the age front as well. It's just such a horrible thing to be experiencing.

We're hoping to do IVF in the New Year as we don't feel we have more time to waste and are hoping that any embryos we get can be genetically tested to give us a better chance.

Thanks @chasingtherainbow1 will keep that in mind I have my first scan 30th so will see then. Just praying all will be ok this time round. Congratulations on your pregnancy and sorry to hear of your losses too. Takecare.

chasingtherainbow1 · 28/12/2022 13:31

Sorry for your losses, it's the worst pain isn't it. And congratulations on the news of new pregnancies. I hope it's all going well for you!

I am now 26 weeks pregnant, hoping for the best with this one. I lost 3 in total and after that I literally threw everything at it. Millions of vitamins, switched to folate instead of folic acid. Took progesterone from ovulation and started aspirin at 12 weeks as advised by consultant. I also went gluten free and too a course of doxycycline before getting pregnant followed by optibac for one cycle. I'm not sure what it was that worked but I think it's always worth just trying everything.

@hopingthirdtimelucky you can go to a private clinic just for a progesterone prescription, I would definitely recommend trying it just for peace of mind.

Good luck to everyone ❤️

Thank you @elm26 congratulations and sorry for your losses. Thank you for sharing. I’m really hoping all will be ok. Feeling sick and heartburn and the other day noticed more discharge and constantly tired so hoping these are all good signs. But trying to not read too much into everything this time as everyone and every pregnancy is different. Sending everyone lots of best wishes and hope for their rainbow baby. Take care all xx

Hi OP

So sorry to hear of your losses ♥️

I'm 29 years old and have had 13 miscarriages in the past 8 years. They couldn't find any reason for these and I had 4 babies tested and nothing in particular came back.

I tried progesterone, aspirin and clexane injections.

I am now 18 weeks with a healthy baby (🤞🏻) and I don't know why this one has stayed but I'm very grateful.

Nobody can give me any answers. I started aspirin after my 12 week scan as recommended by the sonographer and my midwife as the cord flow was borderline for being too little and I started progesterone suppositories at 6 weeks due to spotting and stayed on them until 16 weeks.

I know that awful feeling of hopelessness and empty but this pregnancy is a miracle and you will get yours too. I will keep you in my thoughts and wish you all the luck in the world.

hopingthirdtimelucky · 26/12/2022 18:01

Hi all it has been comforting to read your stories and sorry for your losses and congratulations for the rainbows. I’m currently pregnant not entirely sure how far I believe I’m around 7 weeks. I have a 3year old then unfortunately experienced a mmc in feb there was heartbeat at 8weeks but then at 12 week scan it had stopped a few weeks before. Then I got pregnanct straight after d&c but had mmc at around 8 weeks. But since then I’ve had two periods and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I have been taking low dose aspirin. Hoping it helps. I asked about progesterone but they said they can only give that me if start bleeding. So praying low dose aspirin will help. Feel so anxious for my scan this week as think I’m preparing for the news again although I’m trying to stay positive. I just really don’t know how I will cope again. I’ve already had sick note for work as I think the grief from second time has hit me.

@chasingtherainbow1 @awarren thank you for your support. Booked arrived today. be good to stay in touch, I hope I fall again soon xx

chasingtherainbow1 · 03/10/2022 19:36

@LAURAPAX the book will really help you vitamin wise and it explains everything really simply! My only bit of advice is don't give up. Even if things go wrong with this pregnancy I will keep going until I cant. Many women have children in their late 30's and there's every chance that you will too. Keep me updated too, it will happen one day ❤️

LAURAPAX · 03/10/2022 19:10

@awarren meant to tag you in the above post. thank you for sharing it really does help to know i am not alone. XX

LAURAPAX · 03/10/2022 19:05

@potogold so sorry for your losses, stay strong. keep going. xx

LAURAPAX · 03/10/2022 19:04

@chasingtherainbow1 so great to hear you are doing well! thank you for your advice, i have ordered the book 'It Starts With an Egg' so will take advice here too. In terms of vitamins I am already taking pregnacare. I would say generally I am pretty healthy but willing to do whatever I can to give myself the best chance. I've stopped drinking alcohol, only 1 or 2 cups of white tea a day. I totally agree with you and am looking into fertility expert support, i just dont really know where to start. it is all so overwhelming and it has only been a week since my miscarriage so I'm feeling sad but I definitely need to have a plan to feel proactive and like I am trying to do something to sort it out. I know it sounds so naive but literally none of my friends have experienced a miscarriage so it just never even occured to me anything like this could / would happen. Now my age is genuinely stressing me out, like why have i left it until now!!! I am feeling desperate but just need to get pregnant again, I hope that is not a problem and happens quickly, i fell the 2nd time trying for our first pregnancy which i am hoping and taking some comfort in but there was no expectation or trauma before that so all of this is so new to me. Let me know how you get on and wishing you all the best xx

I've lost 2.

Terrified by desperate to be pregnant and these posts give me hope thank you.

awarren · 02/10/2022 22:30

Hi @LAURAPAX I felt the same way after my two mc, I was worried about my age (I’m 32).
I asked for a referral to see a fertility specialist, I did not want to go through another mc if there was a reason for them.
I had all the usual blood tests, an ultrasound where they fill your uterus up with saline to check for any abnormalities (I forget the formal name of this), and I ended up having to go for a hysteroscopy as I had retained products from my second miscarriage and D&C, so they did a Laparoscopy to check for Endo as well.
I had a tiny amount of endo, but otherwise everything was fine except my AMH was low ie fewer eggs (this is due to my age).
my fertility specialist advised using CoQ10 300mg twice daily to help with egg quality, I also started taking a better prenatal than Elevit, added in Vitamin D 3000IU (I had low vitamin D and this can also affect AMH), and added in NAC. This is all suggested in It Starts With The Egg which I followed.
my fertility specialist gave me six months before we discussed IVF and at month 4 I fell pregnant and am happily almost 15 weeks now. I started progesterone after the positive test also and continued taking until I was 12 weeks.

I know how scary and overwhelming it is after two, and the infertility thoughts and fear that starts crowding in. I would honestly suggest seeing a fertility specialist or such to discuss testing and check your AMH as this is an indicator of egg numbers. Having a plan with my specialist really helped keep me calm and find a path through it all. Even now I’m 15 weeks I’m still fearful of the worst happening and expecting bad news at every appointment.

Yes age is a big factor but 36 isn’t old and you have options. I wish you all the best and I truly hope good news comes soon for you. If you ever want to talk in further detail I’m more than happy to chat. Xx

chasingtherainbow1 · 02/10/2022 18:04

@LAURAPAX sorry to hear about your losses. I had another miscarriage in January this year and decided to go for private testing because the nhs waiting list was too long. They didn't find anything at the testing. I ready the book It Starts with an Egg and began taking all the supplements in that, I cut out gluten and started taking progesterone prescribed by the private doctor in July. I fell pregnant first time using progesterone from 3dpo and am currently almost 14 weeks. Not out of the woods yet but this is the furthest we have got by miles!

If I were you, I wouldn't try again without trying something different such as vitamins or progesterone. You might be able to convince your GP but if not I'd say it's worth going private just to get the prescription in case that is the issue. My private doctor told me that most very early losses are due to low progesterone.

Wishing you all the luck!

LAURAPAX · 02/10/2022 17:28

So sorry to hear of the losses but i’m so glad I found this thread to know I am not alone. I’m in a similar situation but unfortunately I am 36 years old and super stressed about my age and everything else that goes with having a miscarriage. It would be great to hear how you got on @chasingtherainbow1 @awarren @nacarlos89 Hope all went well for everyone x

chasingtherainbow1 · 25/10/2021 10:31

@awarren hi, it's nacarlos89 but I deleted my last account so now I have changed my name. My hcg didn't get back to zero until mid august as it was very slow in falling. We have been trying the last 2 months but no success yet. I have noticed that my periods have been a bit all over the place so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I have also been in contact with University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire about nk cells testing. I'm going to be having a biopsy this month and next to check my nk cells so we won't be trying until mid December now. It actually feels quite refreshing to have a break from TTC. I didn't expect to feel this way but I do. But at the same time I can't wait to start trying again.

I decided to do it because I'm fed up of feeing like the NHS just don't care. I had a video appointment with the consultant there last Friday and he was brilliant. So knowledgeable and has filled me with confidence. Just hoping that if the tests show high nk cells, I can sort it or if they're normal, then it is just a bit of bad luck.

I know that many women have 2 miscarriages and that's why the NHS has the rule of 3 but I also think whoever came up with that rule has obviously never been through it them self. The mental impacts of 2 miscarriages is severe and it's left me a very lonely, miserable and anxious person.

I hope you're holding up well! ❤️

awarren · 25/10/2021 01:32

@ncarlos89 have you had any success in falling pregnant? I’m in the same boat, like our stories are identical. I just wanted to see if you had any luck? @nacarlos89

nacarlos89 · 17/07/2021 19:54

@MrsF111 I'm so sorry to hear you're also going through this. It's such an awful feeling isn't it. I feel like I'm ok with it but it's always there at the back of my mind.

I have finally started my period yesterday so hopefully can start trying again now. Keeping everything crossed! Let me know how you get on. I think it would be nice to keep in touch with someone who is going through the same ❤️

Hi @nacarlos89 your story is very similar to mine, we are even the same age! I had a mmc last year, had medical management for that then my second mc was really strange, I think it counts as a chemical but other than the lightest spotting at week 4 I had no more bleeding, found out at the 12 week scan and still didn’t bleed for a further month, was really awful. I’m in the TWW now and praying this is the one. Completely relate to your feelings, I’m having a good week or so at the moment but there have been some really dark days and probably more to come. It’s such an awful thing to go through
