Hello,
I couldn't see a thread for ladies trying for baby no 2, so I thought I'd start one.
I'm nearing the end of cycle 3, 12DPO today, AF due on Wednesday. Having all sorts of symptoms that I don't usually get.
My first LO turned 2 a couple of months ago.
Look forward to hearing others' stories 😊

Hi @SLT90 @darcey87 @MamaSJ15 it was rather mammoth for a cycle! Genuinely thought we’d see our bfp by the 3rd week, had all kind of hopes that I’d ovulated later so my positive would take longer to show, blah blah blah…but alas, this is a new month and we can go again!

It’s really unusual to be honest, I’ve been like clockwork for all but one cycle since they returned (the month I lost my mum they went a bit crazy). But really no idea why so long this time.

I started seven seas conception support on Monday, and hope that along with the conceive plus will give us the helping hand this month.
Good luck to everyone for this month, have my fingers crossed for us all x

MamaSJ15 · 28/07/2021 08:29

Sorry AF arrived @Josephine2021 but I guess a new cycle is a new chance 😊 that was a very long cycle though, do you usually have long cycles?

@darcey87 there's still chance for you, don't give up hope too soon! But yeah, maybe wait a few days before testing again. The 2ww is the hardest part isn't it, you just want to know! Try keep busy!

@SLT90 you're still in with a chance, even if you only manage to DTD once 🙂

I was hoping to DTD last night but my DD isn't very well, poor thing. I think I ovulate in the next day or two so hoping to get some time with DH tonight if little one will stop coughing! Not holding out hope that she'll stay at nursery for a full day today! 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Josephine2021 that was an epic cycle! Fingers crossed this next one is your lucky one 🤞🤞

AF finished for me yesterday so I will start OPKs in a few days! Going to try and DTD every other day now but I'm also away with a friend for most of my predicted fertile week 😭 may just manage to DTD the morning before we leave and again the evening I return! (OV day!)

darcey87 · 28/07/2021 08:06

Fingers crossed this is your month @Josephine2021!

I think I'm out. 10DPO and not a whisper of a line. I'm going to wait til Friday to test again. Tbh I'd like to know so I can have a drink at the weekend if I'm not! I really regret testing early this cycle, it's made me a bit insane. It's still 6 days til AF is due and I'm just wishing away that time.

Josephine2021 · 27/07/2021 21:06

Evening all, hope everyone is safe and well.

Today has been a bit of a one for me - af finally decided to show up on cd53! God knows where she’s been, but had our hopes up for no reason…onwards and upwards.

Got myself some seven seas conception support vitamins, the conceive plus in the hopes that helps, and going to try as often as possible this cycle. See if this could be our month 🙏 x

MamaSJ15 · 27/07/2021 19:26

@darcey87 no I didn't have covid, I had the second vaccine on Monday last week and I'm not sure if it was a side effect or just something I picked up but I started with a sore throat on Wednesday which gradually got worse and worse, felt awful over the weekend, then lost my voice, now I feel I have a bit of a cold. But my DD has a cough now too so there's something definitely going around!

Thanks @coles85, I'm sure I'll be right as rain soon 😊 it's awful isn't it! If it was month 1 for us I probably wouldn't be too bothered about starting late but in cycle 4, I feel like I'd be wasting a cycle if we didn't get a chance to try!

I've had a bit of a stressful day at work today, really need a bit of a break.
I've heard a bit about flooding near London, I hope no one here is effected by it. I'm miles away, so safe up this way 😊

@coles85 @Laureatus if we'd have started trying when DH wanted, about 18 months ago, I don't think we would have had the energy as DS wasn't sleeping through the night reliably and was often up extremely early, we were shattered!

I wonder if that's a bit of nature's contraceptive - if you're under the weather or not getting good sleep, stressed etc

Laureatus · 27/07/2021 17:04

@darcey87 you're absolutely right. We've definitely struggled with energy and opportunity so that makes me frustrated.

I hope everyone's having an alright day - it's nice and sunny where we are now ☀️

coles85 · 27/07/2021 14:51

@darcey87 you're so so right about the expectations thing. I think first time round I was so naive to it all I had no expectations but this time, my god I put the pressure on.

@MamaSJ15 glad to hear you're on the mend. It absolutely sucks being unwell. We had planned to try to TTC a month earlier but I had a killer kidney infection and it wiped me out! Needless to say we did not end up starting that month. Hope you're back to 100% soon!

darcey87 · 27/07/2021 14:03

Good point @MamaSJ15 I probably was being a bit harsh on myself!

Did you have Covid? Glad you're on the mend!

I think those who are trying for a long time do have it hard @Laureatus also so much is about expectation isn't it? If you expect it to take e.g. up to 12 months and you're pg in cycle 6 you're probably really pleased, if you expect it to take 2 months and you're pg in cycle 6 it probably feels like ages and months 2-5 have been quite hard. Then if you add in fertility issues, or low libido, or lack of opportunity, short/long/irregular cycles, it's a minefield.

MamaSJ15 · 27/07/2021 13:18

I meant bfn... 😂

OP posts:
MamaSJ15 · 27/07/2021 13:18

@Laureatus I know, I feel like I moan too much sometimes when I think what others are going through, but it's still hard.
Last cycle I was convinced I was pregnant, I had every symptom under the sun, but bfp day before AF, I should have just waited and not wasted a test 😂 yeah, maybe you ovulated later than you thought then! 🤞

Don't be too hard on yourself @darcey87, we're only human. That doesn't mean you don't deserve to be pregnant at all. Chin up, it's still early days 😊

Thanks, I didn't think I'd be able to stick to a relaxed approach but I think I'm doing really well so far! Feeling ill for the last few days has probably kept my mind busy though! 😂 My throat is slowly starting to get better now, thank god!

darcey87 · 27/07/2021 09:10

Still testing daily @MamaSJ15, just leaning into it! But I am not going to be too upset if it's not this month, as I am feeling really guilty about having a couple of drinks and not eating healthily and I've made no progress with losing weight so I kind of don't feel I deserve to be pg!

Glad your casual approach is more relaxing 😌 they do say that helps.

Welcome @Laureatus it is hard not to symptom spot! You're not out til you're out.

Laureatus · 27/07/2021 08:40

PS sorry if tmi but I did have some pains and then more ewcm yesterday, so I wondered if maybe Flo is just totally out and we should keep dtd anyway 🤣 we have anyway but who knows what's going on!

Laureatus · 27/07/2021 08:38

Aww thanks @MamaSJ15 I'm alright really, I'm totally aware many people go far more cycles in this way than we have so far, so I don't mean to grumble. I just had a feeling we got lucky - I had pains at 6dpo which were like the implantation pains I felt last time, but admittedly last time I didn't test at all until AF was a good few days late. Damn symptom spotting!

MamaSJ15 · 27/07/2021 08:27

That sounds like a lovely day @dollface20
It really is crazy how quickly some people can get pregnant. Then there's others who try for years, it's heartbreaking for those.

@coles85, ahh yeah that is a bit long to wait for your first appointment isn't it. I hope you manage to see them before that!

@darcey87 yeah I am feeling more relaxed to be honest. Obviously I'm very aware that I'm in my fertile period so I don't want to miss an opportunity, but at the same time, I'm not too worried, as long as we try once or twice. I'm hoping for tonight and maybe tomorrow. DH was out till late last night so no chance then!
Haha, the bfp dreams... It'll come true soon! Are you testing daily at the moment? Sorry it was a bfn but it's still early days 🤞

Welcome @laureatus. How are you doing? Sorry you got a bfn, but like you said, you're not totally out yet. You're not out till AF shows! Fingers crossed 🤞

Have a happy Tuesday everyone 😁

Hi! Can I join? My lb is 21m and we're ok cycle 1 TTC no 2. According to Glo I'm 11dpo with AF due in 4 days. I had some sensations at 6dpo that were like the implantation cramps I got first time round but I cracked this morning and did a FRER, got a bfn obviously. I know I'm not totally ruled out for this month but trying to accept I am. I've been off the pill since January so was hoping my cycle etc would be sorted by now and we'd get lucky (I'm 35 and we've already waited longer than I wanted because of Covid). Last time I went off the pill for the first time in 14 years and we conceived on cycle 3. So I was hoping we'd be in a good place now but we'll see. Baby dust to all!

darcey87 · 27/07/2021 06:35

Glad your casual cycle is going well @MamaSJ15! Do you feel more relaxed?

Well done @Dollface20 for holding off on the testing. It definitely just makes you a bit loopy to see constant bfns but without your period you never know for sure.

Another bfn at 9DPO this morning, although I was expecting that. If you stare directly into a bright light then squint at it you might see a very very faint shadow where a positive line would be but I think I'm just imagining it. All I dream about it positive tests, it's awful. I definitely should have held out until Friday before testing and got really engrossed in a good book or something Grin

coles85 · 26/07/2021 21:46

@MamaSJ15 I think I'd be about 11 or 12 weeks by then.

Sounds like a good plan to just trust your instinct and ignore the app. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!

MamaSJ15 · 26/07/2021 19:39

@coles85 how far along do you think you'll be mid September when you get to see a midwife? I remember with my first, they said they don't see you till you're about 8 weeks.

So I think my 'casual' cycle is going well so far. I only went on the app today because it sent me a notification saying my fertile window was ending, which is impossible! So it turns out that because it had only reported my period lasting 2 days, it had my fertile window all wrong. I don't trust it anyway to be honest. I'm just gonna go with my bodily feelings 😊

coles85 · 26/07/2021 14:09

Ah that's a good point. No, no medical reason for having one. Totally elective. I had such a good recovery last time from the emergency section, I figured I'd just skip the uncertainty of a "natural" birth and ask for one. If I went into labour naturally there would be no issue (that I'm aware of right now).

That's really sad you didn't get the care you expected last time round. I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully this time will be a better experience.

darcey87 · 26/07/2021 13:42

@coles85 I think if they hear you went late last time that might be influential. But I think it also depends why you're having a section (not asking btw!) as if it would be unsafe for you to go into labour then they are more likely to insist on an early date.

Fingers crossed you have a nice straightforward pregnancy this time.

Yes, at least a couple of consultants, but that's normal unless your health issues are exclusively pregnancy-related. I'm quite glad as last time my midwifery care was really inconsistent and it was quite unsettling and definitely added to my anxiety. At least with consultants I'll have some consistency because I'll be with named people. I'm probably the only person who looks forward to consultant-led care!

coles85 · 26/07/2021 13:33

@darcey87 that's good to know. At least I can ask. Last pregnancy was (thankfully) very straightforward. No additional care during pregnancy, but didn't have DC until over 42 weeks and that was with an induction.

Very true though, there are things that could be missed by having that first meeting late.

Will you be under consultant care second time round?

darcey87 · 26/07/2021 13:13

Also I don't think it's mandatory to be 39w. My friend had her first by elective c on her due date and second at 39+3. There might be some budge, depending on your consultant.

How was your last pregnancy? Did you have any extra care? I have other health issues so if I do get pg this month it probably wouldn't be ideal to wait until 12-13 weeks to tell them about those.
