Hello,
I couldn't see a thread for ladies trying for baby no 2, so I thought I'd start one.
I'm nearing the end of cycle 3, 12DPO today, AF due on Wednesday. Having all sorts of symptoms that I don't usually get.
My first LO turned 2 a couple of months ago.
Look forward to hearing others' stories 😊

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all good.

@coles85 I hope your LO is feeling better?

Well, I said I wasn't going to use opks....but I caved. The day before y'day, I had signs of ov but it was way too early compared to the last few months, but I did one anyway and it showed that I was near peak! did 2 more abit later just to make sure it wasn't a dud, and the line got darker each time!

We had dtd the day before and on the same day I tested before I knew I was near ovualtion, so I feel ok about timings etc. I just don't know what is going on with my cycle really!

Did anyone else find that their cycles were abit all over the place post birth? or if still bf?

MamaSJ15 · 02/08/2021 20:16

@coles85 I know, our bodies are hard to read sometimes! I think we will 😊 I'm not even mentioning it to DH, I think sometimes if he knows it's around ovulation, it's more pressure! He knows roughly when my fertile period is but it's easier not to say about possible ovulation today, will probably make it better!

Ahh yeah it would be interesting to know wouldn't it!

OP posts:
coles85 · 02/08/2021 16:51

@MamaSJ15 it's so interesting isn't it, trying to read what your body is telling you. I was the same this month, thought I had ovulated and then had symptoms a couple of days later and was like "oh...maybe it's now". If you can manage it you should try and DTD just in case!

I took one of the CB digital number of weeks tests today and it says 3+ but was only at 1-2 weeks just over a week ago, so I'm keen to trace back and find out when I ovulated - was it in line with the app or when I thought I felt it.

MamaSJ15 · 02/08/2021 15:49

@coles85 It's funny isn't it, if people think you're drinking, they just assume you're drunk! I say that like I know. I don't drink anyway so it would make no different to me haha.

Yeah that's fair enough, we all have our own views and reasons for these things.

So I assumed I had ovulated a couple of days ago, but today I'm getting a few little twinges that would feel like ovulation, so honestly, no idea! But I'm just gonna go with the flow. Maybe see how we feel tonight and DTD one more time for luck :D I could have it all wrong and feel nothing when I'm actually ovulating! Nothing wrong with a bit of a fun either way haha.

@darcey87 good to know where you stand with the cycle! 26 days is great, not too long to wait too!

First time round we told a select few from my family early because we had a big family occasion that I wouldn't have been able to avoid drinking at without rousing suspicion. It made it easier when they could hand me my "gin and tonic" without anyone realising it was just tonic. Although a drunk family friend did comment (when my sister removed a shot from my hand that said friend had handed me) that it was probably best I didn't do the shot because I'd had enough already and was too drunk Grin she was shocked to later find out I was stone cold sober haha!

This time I'll be waiting til 12 weeks once I've had my scan because I don't have any major occasions coming up. I feel like, if the worst happened I'd rather deal with it in private.

MamaSJ15 · 02/08/2021 13:29

Sorry to hear that AF arrived @darcey87 but a fresh cycle to try again 😊

Thank you, the relaxed approach has definitely made me feel less stressed/worked up, which I'm hoping will have made an impact on the whole TTC business! Definitely going to continue like this if it's not happened this cycle.

I told most people really early with pregnancy #1. I feel that if something were to happen, I'd prefer the have the support of those around me. I think I'd probably tell a select few people early on again next time round.

Hello all! Well AF came today which is a relief because I just want to get on with cycle 2! That makes my July cycle 26 days so I definitely need to start taking ov tests earlier this month, probably from CD7.

Good luck to you this month @MamaSJ15! It only needs once to make a baby.

@SLT90 so lovely when TTC brings you closer, I definitely feel that with DH. It's like a shared secret plan. Plus also lots of sex!

@coles85 last time I had dinner with my sister at 5+6 and cracked and told her, and then obviously had to tell the rest of close family. I will probably try and wait til after a (private) 8-week scan when I'm pregnant a second time, but some of my friends will be told sooner as they know we are TTC, will ask and I don't mind them knowing. I've supported them through early losses and know they'd do the same, when I wouldn't necessarily want my lovely but gossipy family to know.

My SIL was pregnant at Christmas and would have some wine in her glass but just never drank it and no one twigged. I think generally people pay less attention than we think!

MamaSJ15 · 01/08/2021 21:38

@coles85 oh no, I hope your little one is better soon. I had that last week, but I didn't work from home, just took an afternoon off with her.

So I'm not 100% sure when I ovulated, I'm guessing I'm 2dpo today. We managed to DTD twice over the fertile period. I had a couple of little twinges but nothing major to say I ovulated but I'm going with it. AF due 12th Aug (always a 28 day cycle, apart from a weird one a couple of cycles ago!).

How's everyone's weekend been? Grin

@coles85 thankfully covid has limited all our social engagements right? 🤣🤣 silver linings!

I had to go to a wedding when I was 11 weeks pregnant and I just avoided getting into drinks rounds and got my husband to buy me tonics without the gin! He asked the barman to put it in a big G&T glass so no one was any the wiser 👍 although i was so bloated I was certain people would guess!!!!

SLT90 · 01/08/2021 14:54

@coles85 a massive mood killer!!!! We never have enough energy 🙈

Yes, I thought I was away, but I got the dates wrong!!! I'm actually away the week after predicted ovulation (phew!) but I feel like I may ovulate a bit sooner than predicted anyway. My cycles are still all over the place!

I've only used OPKs last cycle for the first time in preparationfor starting TTC again this cycle. Didn't use them for TTC DS, but wanted to try them this time because my cycles still aren't back to regular and I'm bf still so I wasn't sure if I would get a peak! So far they've been useful because if I had just used the app predictions for fertile last cycle then I would have missed ovulation!!

coles85 · 01/08/2021 13:23

@SLT90 the toddler madness is a real libido killer isn't it Grin

Did you say you were away on holidays during your ovulation this month? Or was that last month?

I'm now in the fun period of seeing what we have on between now and my scan so I can figure out what lies to tell to avoid drinking.

Do you find the OPKs helpful?

SLT90 · 01/08/2021 13:01

@coles85 CD 11 here and at the in laws this weekend so I haven't been doing opks yet this cycle. Will try and start them tomorrow and see what's happening! Premom doesn't predict OV until CD23 but last month the OPKs did shift the predicted date earlier so will see what happens! On Fri we DTD unprotected for the first time this time round and I think it's brought DH and I really close again after months of wading through toddler madness! Plenty more of that ahead 🤣

Good luck for your day tomorrow!!! That sounds exhausting, hope he gets better soon!

coles85 · 01/08/2021 12:14

How are you all doing? Anyone testing this weekend?

My DC has been unwell all weekend so looking like a day of WFH tomorrow and juggling childcare...joyful Confused

Hope everyone is well and for anyone ovulating hope you're having fun!!!

Laureatus · 30/07/2021 09:16

@coles85 yay definitely stay! I didn't have any symptoms at all first time round. If e weren't actually TTC it would have taken me a while to realise (except for being late, obv). I never had any nausea or anything. I did carpal tunnel a bit later on (and a bump obv!) but I was very lucky in my first pregnancy. Curious how another one might/will go!! 🤞🏻

MamaSJ15 · 29/07/2021 19:45

Thanks @darcey87. Yeah, you've definitely still got a chance, some people say they only DTD once a couple of days before ovulation and that worked. It doesn't always have to be a lot of swimmers that works, just the right one 😊
We were DTD every other day except this cycle has been a bit off because DD being poorly and other plans but generally every other if we can.

Glad to hear you're doing okay @coles85, yeah I didn't have many symptoms at the start of my first pregnancy either, think that's pretty normal isn't it.
Being more relaxed would have made it more enjoyable, except I feel quite stressed this week with work and poorly DD. She's on the mend now though so hoping I'll feel a bit more relaxed now!

@ItsSunnyOutside I bet it is frustrating having a longer cycle. Good luck with the relaxed approach, I'm trying that this cycle too. Not using the usual app to track things.

Off topic slightly, has anyone had any problems with their LO being constipated?

ItsSunnyOutside · 29/07/2021 09:49

Morning everyone,
I'm just catching up on the thread.
I hope everyone is feeling OK?

I'm CD20, my fertile window starts in a day or 2. It's abit annoying having such long cycles, I wish they were back to 28 days like they used to be!
I have a short luteul phase too, its about 9/10 days so I've been taking taking vit B6 and vit C to try and lengthen it slightly.

I'm still bf my nearly 2 year old, I'm certain that is why my cycles have changed and are alot longer.
This will be month 2 of ttc. We are trying to take a relaxed approach at the moment. I started using opks for the 1st time last month but have decided not to use them going forward we, I find it more stressful, although it was good to see when I got to peak ovulation as it was on CD 28! We are just going to dtd alot and see what happens.

Good luck everyone x

coles85 · 29/07/2021 09:29

Thanks everyone!

@MamaSJ15 I'm feeling fine, thank you. Other than a little bit tired I've got no symptoms at all. I was the same last time too so not looking into it too much. Well done on not checking the app and keeping your cool. I bet it's making things much more enjoyable!

@darcey87 if you DTD on the 18th but ovulated on the 19th or 20th it still doesn't mean your out! They say up to 5 days it can last!

We DTD every other day but then on a couple of occasions we had 2 days in a row (because of my long cycle I had no idea when my fertile window was so I just assumed it was over a 2 week period Confused which is why we didn't do it every day haha!)

darcey87 · 29/07/2021 08:37

The seven seas ones I found that they have improved my cycle - I have a slightly longer luteal phase when taking them, from about 12/13 days to more like 14/15. 27/8 day cycles vs 25/26.

Glad you're still having a relaxed cycle @MamaSJ15, and that your DD is on the mend!

You're very welcome to stay on @coles85!

I haven't tested this morning, and I don't really feel inclined to. I think we may have stopped DTD too early and I ovulated slightly later than I thought - possibly on 19th or even 20th rather than 18th. We last DTD on evening of 18th. I think I'm going to just wait and see when AF arrives now.

Next month would be a great month to be trying as I'm going on holiday a couple of days after my fertile window ends and could test the day after we get back - just 2 days before AF so would get an accurate result. Avoid this 10 days of madness!

Do you all DTD every other day or just as often as poss during fertile window? Every other day is fine for DH and he will do twice in a row once in the cycle but he's not up for more frequently than that - he works really long hours in a stressful job and I think it's a lot of pressure. Is that enough to get pregnant? I guess it was last time, but I'm 3.5 years older now.

MamaSJ15 · 29/07/2021 08:23

@coles85 of course, please stay 😊 it's nice because we're all at a similar stage and we all have one child already so know the struggles we each go through! How are you feeling by the way?

@josephine2021 yeah, I used the same ones for TTC #1 and had a healthy pregnancy so as far as I can tell they have everything you need 😁

I think I'm CD 14 today, haven't felt any obvious ovulation feelings yet but I'm usually somewhere between CD14-16. Still haven't used the app this cycle which I'm really proud of myself for! No stressing, just going with the flow! Finally got some time to DTD last night, LO is finally starting to get better, but she did still wake crying a few times, poor thing.
How's everyone doing today?

Thanks @MamaSJ15, that’s what I’m hoping for, that they don’t necessarily help with conception, but they’re in my system to help support healthy growth when it happens.xx

@coles85 more than happy for you to stay on this chat! It’s lovely to hear about your journey and so pleased for you and your bfp!xx

coles85 · 28/07/2021 15:15

@Dollface20 I think you're doing the right thing for your own health. Good on you. Lots of people should take your lead and have a social media break. Hope you're ok and I'll look forward to seeing you back online in the future.

For everyone else, I feel like I should move on from the chat because I don't want to trigger anyone who hasn't gotten their BFP...But equally I'd love to support everyone through TTC #2 and hopefully all your BFPs! I also joined another thread for March/April due dates but there's a lot of first time mum chat that just isn't where I'm at (oh god, I'm one of the people I hated as a first time mum!!)

Would it be ok to hang around? I promise not to take over with pregnancy chat!

MamaSJ15 · 28/07/2021 13:29

@Josephine2021 sorry to hear about you losing your mum, that must have been extremely difficult.
I use seven seas trying for a baby vitamins. Don't think it helps with conception as such but has all the vitamins needed to be healthy an ready to carry a baby 😊

@dollface20 sorry to hear that. We're here for support whenever you're ready 😊 hope you're feeling better soon!

Hope everyone is doing okay today! I feel a bit stressed at work today (currently on my lunch break), and I've been getting calls from the nursery about my DD 😕 hope she's feeling better soon!! Think we all need a good night's sleep!

Take care of yourself @Dollface20 and (this isn't meant to be patronising) well done for making choices that are good for your mental health

Wow @Josephine2021 that was an epic cycle, how frustrating for you. Our bodies are strange beasts at times. Let's hope this next cycle is a shorter one 🤞

Big fingers crossed too for all you lovely ladies who are in the TWW...there's still time to get a BFP!!!
