New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

Hi ladies. Thank you so much replying back. I've not had my results yet for HSG yet and getting this another scan has threw me off. I'm on hold with epu to see what this appointment is about as they have been organising this all. I've not had my period yet after the HSG and it should be arriving next week Tue.

Tillybabs · 14/07/2021 09:27

I forgot to mention as well that when we went to the fertility clinic yesterday, it's right by the birthing centre!

We could hear women in Labour. At first we were thinking what's going on and then soon realised when we heard a baby crying.

They literally sounded like they were in the next room lol

Tillybabs · 14/07/2021 09:25

@JeanieJ ah ok so you had the opposite of me! I think she's throwing me out is the usual cramps I've been having but nothing.

I did have two days of bleeding after the Hycosy. Not as heavy as a period but heavier than spotting.

I will give the clinic a call and see what they say about the scan

JeanieJ · 14/07/2021 09:21

@Tillybabs - so, I'm talking about the ultrasound you get sent for during fertility investigations, which can be done at any point in the cycle.
I'm pretty sure the baseline scan can be done at any point in your cycle too. They would specify to you - like the HSG needs to be before you ovulate.

I haven't had a hycosy, but my period was a week early after my HSG - I also had the vaccine that day, so who knows 🤷🏻 My cycles have been 2 days shorter since then.

Tillybabs · 14/07/2021 09:08

@JeanieJ do you mean the baseline scan can be done at any time?

I booked it on Monday for this Friday as was convinced AF was coming any minute but it hasn't arrived yet!

Not sure whether to cancel the baseline scan

Ive been getting cramps since last Thursday but AF hasn't arrived yet.

Has anyone who has had a Hycosy scan found it messed with their period at all?

JeanieJ · 14/07/2021 08:52

@EveryMumDay welcome 🙂
The transvaginal ultrasound (aka dildocam) can be done at any time in the cycle, so don't worry about being on your period 🙂
Normally for your first one, they're just checking for any abnormalities and counting your follicles. I'm not sure why you'd have a 2nd one after HSG without having a chat with your consultant first? Did you get you get your HSG results yet?
I had mine 2 months ago and am still waiting.

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 13/07/2021 23:04

@EveryMumDay thank you, that's really helpful. I do BBT rather than OPK as it's the only way I can be sure of ovulation. My problem is that I've only been recording BBT since day 14 this cycle so my FF app hasn't got a full picture to detect it. I have a form to go for bloods rather than a set appointment so may have to wait until next month if I've missed it and get AF next week.

EveryMumDay · 13/07/2021 22:04

@Mickymackyboobaaboo apologies. I meant you predict when you would get a peak and try to get the day 21 blood test on the predicted peak day or as close to it possible. Wish you luck and hope you get your peak soon too.

EveryMumDay · 13/07/2021 22:02

@Mickymackyboobaaboo thank you. It's a mystery to me this next appointment.....I'll try to phone them tomorrow to investigate what this is all about.

Regarding the day 21, yes you get it done once you detect a peak either by bbt or using opk. I did my day 21 blood test after 7 days of getting a peak on clearblue ovulation 4 days earlier detection and 7 days before my next period cycle day 1.

Have you been using opk? If you are able to push the appointment then do so as you'll get better results. Other option is to speak to your GP and see what they advice.

itsmschanandlerbong · 13/07/2021 21:22

Hello ladies, hope it's ok to join. I have an appointment in 2 weeks to update paperwork then I will start round 2 approx 2 weeks after that. Round 1 at the end of May ended up in a chemical pregnancy. Feeling much more positive about this round 🤞🤞

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 13/07/2021 21:12

Hello EveryMumDay and welcome. I'm meant to have my day 21 bloods done tomorrow but I'm not sure if I need to have ovulated first (I haven't detected ovulation yet this month)? I can't advise on the transvaginal/abdominal ultrasound question you've asked as I'm still at the start of my investigations but I'm sure someone more knowledge than me will be along to help soon 😊

EveryMumDay · 13/07/2021 20:07

Hello ladies.

Can I please join and ask a question?

So far, from NHS they have told me to take a blood test after the day 21 blood test, which I've not got the results yet but assuming I'll get them end of August for when the appointment is booked with consultant.

Last week, I went for the HSG x-ray and today I've received another appointment for US Pelvis Transabdominal & Transvaginal scheduled for next Friday when I would be on periods. Any idea what this is?

Sorry, not sure what the stages are for fertility via NHS.

Thank you :)

Tillybabs · 13/07/2021 13:59

@Mickymackyboobaaboo ah I see. Good luck with your amh results.

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 13/07/2021 13:21

@Tillybabs No problem. I was told that it's because I'm 42, have a BMI of 32 and already have one child conceived without intervention.

Congratulations on your approval - great news! Smile

Tillybabs · 13/07/2021 12:17

@JeanieJ I know, it feels like it's moving so quickly. Thank you

I was first referred in March of this year so it has moved very quickly for me but that's probably because of my age as I'm 40

JeanieJ · 13/07/2021 11:42

Hi @Tillybabs that's exciting! Congratulations 🥳 it must feel great to be making a step forward.
Can I ask when you were first referred?
x

Tillybabs · 13/07/2021 11:27

Hi ladies

So we have been approved for ivf on the nhs 😃

But before we can start, I'm having my baseline scan on Friday and they want to have a look at my uterus because when I had my Hycosy they saw some polyps.

They said depending on how many and how big they are, I might have to have surgery to remove those and then start the ivf process

Anyone else experienced that?

My amh level was 17.7 which is average I think?

JeanieJ · 13/07/2021 07:38

@Tillybabs thanks. I'm gonna chase them today and push for him to see me ASAP. Hope you get a good AMH result 🙏🏻
@dogmam great news about the eggs! Fingers crossed it all goes well today 🤞

Tillybabs · 12/07/2021 23:31

@dogmam 19 eggs is amazing!

@Mickymackyboobaaboo I get my amh results tomorrow. Nervous about it and will know if eligible for ivf tomorrow.

Can I ask why you aren't eligible?

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 12/07/2021 22:56

@dogmam 19 eggs sounds amazing! Keeping fingers crossed for you.

I'm having the results of my AMH on Wednesday and am starting to feel a bit nervous about it. I'm not eligible for IVF on the NHS and can't afford to do it privately so I'm praying everything's fine and that it's just taking us longer.

Tillybabs · 12/07/2021 22:05

@dogmam oh gosh I'm not looking forward to that lol.

I don't actually know what it's for tbh, it's all a little disorganised.

We have our ivf eligibility appointment tomorrow so it hasn't even been approved yet. Still awaiting oh sa sample to be taken later this month.

dogmam · 12/07/2021 21:51

@speeches good luck for tomorrow, one step forward Smile

@jeaniej ah what a nightmare I hopebyou can get this sorted. Just keep pestering until you get some confirmed dates, maybe suggest to them you don't care which consulatan contacts you, you just want the follow up asap.

@tillybabs yeah the baseline scan is internal whilst you're on your period. Ergh I know! Don't worry though they're used to it. Just go to the loo before hand. You'll be fine. Is this to get you started for stims?

@aliceinivfland ah bless you, it's such a rolacoster your emotions and hormones are all over and it's all in response to the stims, hopfully doing their job. For me, my sideeffcts from stims have all been physic, really strange feelings and pressure in my ovaries but the 19 eggs that were collected today explains the pain! Luckily you're on short protocol which means 2 weeks max of stims so you're nearly there. I ate plently of fruit and veg during stims which i think helps with headaches because i suffer with them anuway. What's your AFC, I found this indicates how you're likley to respond. No, egg collection can be done anywhere between 36 and 40 hours after trigger, so I had my trigger at half 9 Saturday night and collection was first thing this morning x

dogmam · 12/07/2021 21:41

Little update on me, I had egg collection today and wow I was not prepared for that, I thought I'd be fast asleep but was awake and could feel everything. Not painful but very uncomfortable but in a fair bit of pain since so hot water bottle it is. I had a lorazapam last night and again this morning so was chilled and all the stuff were amazing. My partner was allowed to stay with me in the ward right until I got taken for EC, it took about 40 mins then I had to stay on the ward for a few hours. I felt instantly sick and couldn't eat anything so was given anti sickness meds.
Anyway the good news is they collected 19 eggs which I'm so pleased about! When my partner was allowed back after I'd been able to have a wee, we sat down with the embryologist who said we will find out tomorrow if any/how many fertilise. Fingers crossed!! We will then get further updates on thursday and saturday to find out how many made it to blastocyst.

Tillybabs · 12/07/2021 14:28

@JeanieJ sorry to hear that. I hope it gets sorted.

I'm also with Croydon at the Croydon Uni hospital. I find the best time to call the clinic is before lunch time. I called at 11am and got through today.

JeanieJ · 12/07/2021 14:22

@Tillybabs I have both appointment letter & number. It was just an admin mess up.
Lady on the phone apologised and said her first task tomorrow morning was to speak to the other person about it.
If no one calls, Ill just have to hassle them again, but this clinic (Croydon) rarely answer their phones and never answer emails.
I'm just so devastated - I feel so left in the dark. TTC is such a minefield of unknowning, but dealing with crap admin systems makes it 10 times more stressful.

To make matters worse, I've developed pain in my lower abdomen (I think it's on my ovary) which is making BD painful. I was hoping to speak to the consultant today about it because I assume it's all connected and he'd bring me in for another scan, but now I'm just gonna have to speak to my GP about it. Nothing weird came up on my ultrasound 3 months ago, so whatever this is is new.
