Hello Everyone,

I just wondered how long it took you to conceive you're first baby? I am 22 and my partner is 24 we have been trying since December 2020 so I know its not long in the TTC world however each month is becoming harder and harder to come to terms with,
Full breakdown today when AF came, as I thought this was my month. We are both are eating fertility friendly foods, moderate exercise, drinking lots of water. I am taking folic acid and my partner is on wellman conception tablets.

I used to track with OPKS but I found it too stressful now we just have regular sex every other day during most of the month tbh. I never had EWCM but I do notice when I am ovulating compared to other times of the month.

i am just at loss and I don't know if its normal to still be ttc this long in?
note- I haven't been on any contraception pill/implant since 2017.

For EWCM I loved Tropicana pink grapefruit juice - drank every morning from CD 1 to ovulation. Saw it on a thread here, tried it, and got FIVE DAYS of ewcm - it was brilliant and cheap.

Took me one month but miscarried, then six months to get pregnant again. My GP said iron levels need to be higher for ttc, I was in normal range but took supplements the month before getting pregnant again, and also I'd taken up acupuncture

Juno231 · 17/06/2021 14:43

I would say btw - an easy thing to do at this point is get a private SA for OH. At least you'd eliminate him being a problem (which he's 50% likely to be) and it's only around £150 to have it done.

JB14C · 17/06/2021 14:43

@Popcornbetty ah thank you for the kindness means a lot. it feels like such a lonely journey! my boyf is very laid back about it haha, probably just enjoying all the sex as I cant use the 'ive got a headache' card now !! ive got my fingers crossed xx :D

Ditto.... That video is amazing and terrifying at once. Especially when you encounter some gormless twat in real life and realise they were the one that made it.

Popcornbetty · 17/06/2021 14:40

Also stay clear of the journey of the sperm to the egg video as after watching that i thought it would never happen!

JB14C · 17/06/2021 14:39

@ILoveCreamCrackersMe wow that's amazing, I think I was so naive as I thought that would happen for me Blush i just thought ditching the condoms was about as hard as it was... lol.

im glad to here though that yourfriend were like 6-12 months, makes me feel more optimistic x

I’m 27 and currently 20 weeks pregnant with my first. It took us 13 months before we got our BFP and we’d literally just had our first fertility appointment (altho were still not on any medication etc) it’s funny how it works out. I do have pcos tho. Anecdotal, but Id gone v low carb in the two months before my BFP, and lost a stone or so, plus I’d upped my exercise levels a bit more (was active already).
I know exactly how it feels but really 6 months isn’t long in the grand scheme of things. Just keep working on getting yourself in the best physical, financial and mental position for a baby, it’s nice to have that to focus on as something you actually can do something about.

Popcornbetty · 17/06/2021 14:37

Op you are doing all the right things, honestly i'm a firm believer that the minute you relax, concentrate on having 'fun in the sun' it'll happen! Ignore my cheesiness Blush Sorry this cycle wasn't your month but sending you so much baby dust for the next one! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Also the opks can be addictive and stress does not help matters or testing early and the mind tricking you by seeing imaginary faint lines (def keep the relaxed approach.)

JB14C · 17/06/2021 14:37

@ShowOfHands 20-25%! crazy... i always believed it was so much higher than that. at school sex=pregnancy ... not quite the case is it ha ha!

thank you, did you go for any tests after a year of trying or did you just go with the flow? thanks x

Probably not what you want to hear...

Early 30`s

Coil out end of Jan, had sex once for fun during my Feb ovulating period, not thinking anything would work for months due to a lifetime being messed up with hormones (never had a regular period ever). Positive pregnancy test end of Feb, baby due October.

Most of my friends averaged around 6-12 months, it's luck of the draw, hang in there, it'll resolve itself Daffodil

ShowOfHands · 17/06/2021 14:33

Chances of conception each month are never more than 20-25% and that's the maximum which is why they say to expect it to take a year.

6 months is completely normal. My first took 14 months, my second was conceived immediately. It was the night after ditching condoms.

Try to remain as relaxed as possible and give it a few months.

JB14C · 17/06/2021 14:32

@becca3210 ah yes me and the boyf are kinda doing the same thing. yes we are using conceive plus which i think is similar to preseed? did you use anything like that ? xx

OP posts:
JB14C · 17/06/2021 14:30

@Popcornbetty wow yes that's amazing :) yes this was the first month i didnt use OPK as it was stressing me out ... so this month i just didnt buy anymore. i am going to try and relax as much as i can... im even starting yogo haha Wink

Popcornbetty · 17/06/2021 14:29

Oh also i forgot to metion i had been on the pill for years and just stopped right before conceived so it didnt hinder anything.

becca3210 · 17/06/2021 14:29

@JB14C Previous cycles I had just been focusing on having DTD around ovulation time that month we started a bit earlier so did days 5, 9, 12, 14, 16 (think I ovulated day 16 or thereabouts). Can't remember if you said you used sperm friendly lubricant like preseed but that can help

Popcornbetty · 17/06/2021 14:27

Dc1 conceived 1st cycle (wasn't actively trying or tracking or anything) so it was a shock it happened that quickly, i was 31.

Dc2: conceived 5th cycle (4 cycles of actively trying and 5th one put opks away and let nature take it's cause)

Both times it happened when i wasnt tracking and just relaxed. I think there's something in that!

JB14C · 17/06/2021 14:22

@becca3210 did you do anything different on the 7th month compared to the others? or did you just keep everything the same? xx

OP posts:
JB14C · 17/06/2021 14:20
