Month 12, 6 DPO, fed up and loosing hope

Hi all,

I apologise in advance if this post is negative but I'm so so fed up with TTC. We have been trying for 12 months and haven't even had a hint of a line. My three best girlfriends (and soon to be bridesmaids) have all announced they are preggers this past month. Whilst I'm genuinely ecstatic for them I'm hurting so much as I don't believe it will ever happen for me.

I had to take a few days off work at the start of the week when the third told me they were preggers as I was just so overwhelmed and upset. A few days eating rubbish and watching Netflix made me feel a bit better but I have just lost hope that I will ever see a second pink line let alone have a baby.

I'm currently 6DPO and even though I know I won't be pregnant I'm still working myself up about it. I (stupidly) did a test today which was obv a BFN but it's like I can't help myself. It like a weird form of self torture!

I'd be so keen to talk to any hopeful mummas in a similar boat - let's keep everyone sain!

@User1400 haha really?! I had no clue this was a thing until I googled it. I tried the whole sweep method but I always found myself laughing at the awkward squats I was getting into 😅

This is normal for us. But in all honesty I’ve never been like this before 🙈 in my previous relationship it was very rare, so this is all new to me.

I’m sorry to hear about your appointment being pushed back 😞 that must be so frustrating. I suppose you could use this time to really get yourself ready, relax, pamper and prepare yourself 💕 I know how hard it is to stay positive though!

@Lynne425 that is a relief to know you managed to catch on those days too! How have you been feeling?

✨💕✨

User1400 · 20/09/2021 11:02

@HopefulGlow hahaha, I feel like the only time I can judge CM is after a bowel movement 😂.

Everyday, wow! Is that normal for you as a couple or only because TTC? I would love to DTD everyday to increase our chances but I think it would cause more stress than anything else lol, I guess each couple is different.

@Lynne425 that’s reassuring to know it worked for you with only 3 DTD, it only takes once I suppose 😊.
__
I’ve had to push back my HyCosy due to my cycle, and the way it’s landed means we won’t even be able to try next month. Feeling a bit upset (even though it probably wouldn’t of made any difference!) it’s just hard knowing that another month will pass me by 😔.

Xx

Lynne425 · 19/09/2021 21:43

Hey @User1400

As for DTD, this cycle it was CD 10, 11 & 13 with my peak opk on CD12.

Only things I took/done different was continue to take my folic acid (just a boots own brand one) and after ovulation I ate pineapple core every day for 5 days (something about it suppose to help implantation) xx

HopefulGlow · 19/09/2021 21:40

@User1400

There is no such thing as TMI here….earlier I was googling EWCM after bowel movements 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m glad you asked because I’ve tried to look for answers on this.

Me and my OH do it every day, sometimes a few times a day. But every once in a while we have a day or two with nothing! And nothing has made a difference 😅 I’m lucky I work from home, so if my OH is off, I get sex breaks haha 😂

One of my friends and her OH barely do it though, they just aren’t bothered and that suits them.

It’s definitely not about the quantity!

✨💞✨

User1400 · 19/09/2021 20:47

@HJen22 Ahh okay, it is quite daunting seeing it in black and white, letting it sink in that it’s reality. None the less, just think each appointment is a step closer to starting a wee family 🥰. Yeah tracking/DTD is stressful enough in it’s own right, focusing your energy into IVF/staying healthy is probably the best idea and then who knows what could happen naturally when you take your mind off DTD! 🤞🏻

How is your counselling going?

Aww dogs are such a blessing aren’t they. It’s just amazing how they can read your mood and give you a much needed pick me up🤗.

I have another TMI question for you all..

I mentioned earlier about TTC taking the spark out of DTD.. I’ve just come across a thread discussing how often they DTD when TTC, I am honestly in shock at how many people have said everyday/multiple times a day throughout the whole cycle!

Question is - how many times do you DTD per cycle?!? We have only DTD three times this cycle (all in FW) and will probably try to get another 1 or 2 times in..

There is honestly no way I could DTD everyday or even every other day throughout the cycle, I’d have a break down hahaha

Xx

HJen22 · 18/09/2021 23:34

@User1400 we got a letter through on Thursday which basically said we were on the IVF list, that the wait time is 4-5 months and I'd get an appointment through in January. So I guess that's the first of many in the IVF process with treatment thereafter. I've got counselling next Friday and the following we've got a follow up where I'm hoping they'll explain exactly the protocol etc that we will be put on! I kinda knew it was likely gonna be next year before it started what with Christmas and New Year but seeing it in black and white still kinda threw me 😔 but I really just need to try and stay positive, relaxed, healthy etc in preparation.

Oh OPKs can be such a stress can't they! Sorry you think you may not have done it enough, but as they say, only takes once 🥰 so don't count yourself out! Everything crossed for you 🤞🏻 and yeah look at the small good things and holidays etc! A nice way to look at it!

Ive not been tracking this month or stressing about the FW too much, we did it twice the predicted week and to be honest I really don't know what our chances are naturally so I'm trying to ease up on the pressure of doing it heaps. I still stress out but now it's about IVF rather then DTD.

Aw thank you, she's 8 months old. And a real godsend in a super hard time! We got her in March so it's been some what of a distraction welcoming her into our family 🐶

User1400 · 18/09/2021 20:29

Sending you positivity 💫 @loops01 💕. Sorry you had another announcement, they seem to have a way of cropping up and knocking you down when you least expect it.

I feel the same for us, that we won’t conceive naturally, and the time aspect really is one of the hardest parts. If someone could tell me 100% I’ll be pregnant in 2023 I think I could start to relax but the not knowing when/if it will happen is just so distressing.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing distracting yourself 🤗. It can be difficult when TTC feels all consuming but switching off from it is so needed sometimes🧡.

I was the same after my 2nd covid jab - totally wiped out for 2 days!

@HJen22 that’s good you have an appointment in the diary! So what exactly is this appointment for? Jan feels like wee whiley but it will absolutely fly in, I can’t believe we’re half way through sept already! As I was saying to Loops, the waiting really can be one of the hardest parts when you’re yearning for something Sad. I just try to think of the positive sides, like if I’m not pregnant by X date that means we can go on X holiday/trip. It’s a small victory and I’m sure we would all rather be pregnant but it’s important that we still enjoy and fulfill our lives😊. Your pup is soo cuuuute, how old?

I’m currently on CD18, my clear blue digital ovulation tests were still showing me as ‘high’ fertility yesterday but no peak, which is strange as peak is usually around CD14/15 and I stupidly ran out of tests and so now I feel like the whole cycle has been a waste of expensive OPKs! Ugh. I don’t know if we have DTD enough this month either, so I feel like I am counting myself out alreadySad xx

HopefulGlow · 18/09/2021 15:34

@suzy124 not at all, don’t worry! There’s a lot going on here 😊 thank you for the welcome 💞 everyone is very lovely!

@HJen22 I will do, thank you. I can’t believe it took so long to get your first appointment 😩 I will call them Monday then, just to get the process started.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend too! 💕✨💕

HJen22 · 18/09/2021 14:58

@suzy124 I'm sorry to hear you've not had a good time of late 😞 I really hope you're looking after yourself and we all understand, it's so hard to stay positive and sometimes we just need some time out. Don't apologise at all, it's good to have a break from all things TTC until you feel better ❤️ I really hope that's soon xx

Yeah @HopefulGlow give the GP a call and they can do some initial blood tests for you. It can be a pretty long process; I spoke with the GP in February and didn't have a first call with the fertility clinic until June. As all things TTC, wait after wait sadly.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and taking care of themselves 💕 xxx

suzy124 · 18/09/2021 13:55

Also Hi @HopefulGlow sorry didn't mean to ignore you. Welcome to the group! Such a lovely bunch of ladies here I'm glad you're finding it helpful x

HopefulGlow · 18/09/2021 11:39

User1400 thank you for the welcome! 💞 that’s exactly how I’d describe it, like a weight has been lifted! 💞

That’s definitely sounds like the sane thing to do haha I remember when I hit 6 months and I was frantically looking on Pinterest for tips and then I reached “how to conceive twins” or “how to get pregnant with a girl” that’s when I knew I had gone too far into the obis! 😂

@Loops01 I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling. When I’m feeling low I like to make sure I do all of my favourite things.

I watch my favourite movies/tv, get in my comfiest pyjamas and pamper myself. Grab some of your favourite drinks and maybe order a takeaway or cook your favourite dish 💕 I hope your DH is home soon to give you some tlc.

@HJen22 OHHHH what a lovely puppy pic to cheer us all up! 😍 so glad you’ve had a great time, it sounds beautiful.

Yes 35 is creeping up on me so it’s probably a good idea I get the ball rolling with my GP. I will keep you posted as to what they say too. My goal this month is to stay chilled out, I need to stop getting so stressed because I know they will say that’s not good 😅

I was doing OPK’s, the tricky little things. Only really got a couple of peaks, the rest were just high. I didn’t do them the last few months in hopes it would calm me down, but it’s not helped so might do them again this cycle.

✨💞✨

suzy124 · 18/09/2021 11:12

@User1400 sorry for being quiet also, after saying I felt better ended up having a bit of a relapse but truly on the mend now.

AF arrived Thurs but haven't cried once. Think the relief of not being sick anymore overtook any feelings I had about that but im very much in a similar headspace to @Loops01 atm. Don't think it's going to happen naturally for us and coming to terms with that is hard. I'm feeling kind of numb I guess so I'm sorry for not being much support on here recently. Needing to distance myself a bit also. Just know I'm always wishing you girls the best for everything ❤️

@HJen22 beautiful pup (& view!)

Xx

AZ1992X · 18/09/2021 08:58

Happy weekend all! ❤️✨
Hope everyone’s doing ok.

@HopefulGlow Thank you ❤️, I keep trying to tell myself hopefully it’ll happen before April and if it doesn’t then hopefully the gp will refer me like they said. Its not that far away till Christmas so if I can get to then it’s only a few months after that.

Let me know how you get on with them - my last few cycles have been a little bit irregular since MC but I know it can take a while for them to settle anyways so couldn’t tell you if the vitamins have affected them or not.

Aww that’s nice having shorter cycles - mine used to be 31/32 but vary at the minute and have been between 27-31 the last few cycles. Have you been doing any tracking like bbt or using any opks?

@Loops01 so sorry you’re having a rough time and you’ve been knocked with yet another pregnancy announcement - I feel it gets harder every time. ❤️ I hope your scan goes well!

HJen22 · 18/09/2021 08:57

Morning girls 💕 I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Our time away has been nice, took the pup a long walk yesterday around a Loch, then we went to Braemar for a wander. Today we head home, on the way back we'll do another walk. My OH has football away tomorrow so will maybe go see my family or something!

@Loops01 oh I'm sorry you're feeling poorly after your second jab, I was the same and ended up in bed off work the following day. I hope you are feeling better today ❤️ and sorry there was another announcement, they just get harder don't they 😔 that's nice you've got some days off to spend with family, I am sure they will take your mind off things. I know how you feel, I got my letter through saying I'd get an appointment letter in January, so now until then feels like dead weight too. And I just cannot be miserable waiting for the next 4 months to pass.

@User1400 how are you and how's your weekend? What CD are you on?

@HopefulGlow I tend to have shorter cycles too, around 25-26 days normally. As the other girls say, I would call your GP. Up here it's definitely one year, 6 months if 35. Hopefully you don't need it; but tests and things take time so it's worth doing it sooner rather than later.

A pup pic to brighten up your Saturdays 🐶

Month 12, 6 DPO, fed up and loosing hope
Loops01 · 18/09/2021 04:41

@User1400 Sorry I've not been that responsive on here its a lot to catch up on.

Got 2nd jab yesterday so not feeling the best if I'm honest. That and lots of work. Dh is away. Another pregnancy announcement and just generally feeling really crap about it all so trying to distract myself and not really look at fertility stuff as much just now. Cd11 now and might start opks if I get the chance. Days off but got things planned with family and friends before back to work. Scan next wk which couldn't come quick enough. I'm sure we won't fall pregnant naturally and just the thought of waiting another year and a half I guess before we could get ivf and pregnant is just making me sad. It's like time is a dead weight just now. I hope you're feeling a bit better about it all.

I'm only doing the same vits as well. I've tried taking loads of others and it clearly had no difference!

User1400 · 17/09/2021 22:39

Hi girls, feel like I’ve missed a whole flurry of information😵.

Huge congratulations @Lynne425 what wonderful news ❤️❤️. Everything crossed for you 🤞🏻💕.

Welcome @HopefulGlow 😃. Sorry to hear you are going through this too, however you are certainly in good company! I recently joined the thread as well and have felt such comfort reaching out to these ladies. It’s like a weight off confirming you’re not alone!

I am just taking daily folic acid and vitamin D, no other tips and tricks from me I’m afraid! To be honest I try and stay away from Googling fertility boosters, it keeps me sane haha😅.

I’d deffo advise getting the ball rolling with things on the doctors side too. It sucks and hopefully you don’t end up needing it but it’s good to know there is a back up plan Smile.

@Amy259 have the best time at the wedding and hope you have some relaxing days off💕.

@HJen22 how is your weekend going?

@suzy124 @Loops01 how are you two doing? Xx

HopefulGlow · 17/09/2021 20:06

@AZ1992X fingers crossed my GP says that too! I suppose even speaking to them will give me a little peace of mind.

Oh my goodness I’m so sorry you went through that. It’s so frustrating that you need to wait again, the system is floored in that respect. Sending you a huge virtual hug.

I’ve had no issues with seven seas so far. I read lots of reviews where women had their cycles messed up from them. But so far so good.

Ahhhh yes you are only a few days ahead of me! My cycles feel like they go so quickly sometimes. They’re only 23/24 days 😩💞

AZ1992X · 17/09/2021 14:25

@HopefulGlow I’d defo get in touch as after a year they should refer you for at least tests etc… that’s what my gp said. Hopefully yours will be the same!

Unfortunately im not eligible now until next April even though it’s been over a year since ttc as I got a positive in April this year but had a miscarriage a few weeks after. It needs to be a full year with no positives. My GP has still been doing some bloods etc to reassure me in the meantime.

I just switched from pregnacare to the seven seas ones so on those ones now 😊, I’m CD8 now so not far ahead of you in the cycle.

Trying to remain positive like you too ✨

HopefulGlow · 17/09/2021 13:03

@AZ1992X fingers crossed they are. Although my OH has said it’s now 2 years before they refer you! 😳 sorry if I’ve missed it in this thread, but have you spoken to your GP yet?

I have another 2 packets of the seven seas left, which ones have you switched to? I’m basically the same with diet and alcohol. Should probably get some exercise in at some point too haha

You’re right, it’s so hard not to think about and I think the day of your period is the worst. Usually my mood picks up after that and I try to be positive again.

I finished my period yesterday, so back to looking at positive affirmations and attempting to plod on! ✨💕✨

AZ1992X · 17/09/2021 12:53

@HopefulGlow no problem 😌, hopefully your gp will be good should you go down that route.

I take the seven seas vitamins - recently swapped from another brand, I’ve just tried to be a bit healthier - cut down on caffeine, no alcohol, more balanced diet and less treats - 😂 doesn’t sound much fun but hoping it’s all worth it.

It’s really hard but I’ve tried to not think about it as much - I felt less stressed about it all but I know it’s hard to not think about it!

@HJen22 good to hear! I’m not too bad thank you. That sounds lovely! - I don’t have too much planned yet maybe just a chilled one as I’m trying to get over this cold.

@Amy259 Hope you have a good day at the wedding & an amazing holiday!! Cannot wait to hear all about it - have fun ❤️

HopefulGlow · 17/09/2021 10:18

@HJen22 oh gosh I don’t know if I could relax either, I struggle to switch my brain off. In yoga when we are meant to meditate and be mindful, I just think of food 😂

@Amy259 thank you! Everyone has been so lovely 🥰 I think it really shows people’s strength, seeing that some of you have been through some really hard things. I hope we can all help each other stay positive & hopeful. And I just know that when we get our BFP’s it will all be worth it.

This is my month 12 now, so I’m trying to keep positive and remind myself of those annoying statistics 😅

I hope you have a wonderful wedding and a fantastic holiday ☀️

✨💞✨

HJen22 · 17/09/2021 09:58

@Amy259 have a fantastic time at the wedding and enjoy your holiday lovely! Hope you have the best break! And can't wait to hear all about it ❤️ xxx

Amy259 · 17/09/2021 09:51

Morning ladies!

Just checking in because I’ll probably be a bit quiet for a little while as we’ve got a wedding today then are off on holiday tomorrow for 10 days. I’ll probably check in occasionally but just wanted to wish everyone good luck for scans, appointments, fertile weeks and ttws that I might miss!!

@HopefulGlow welcome, you’re in good company here ♥️ Dont worry about how long you’ve been trying or compare your struggles to anyone else’s - it’s all relative to what you’re going through and how you feel. It seems you’re sensitive to the knowledge that some have been trying longer and have gone through some tough stuff, and that’s all anyone can ask.

@Lynne425 bloody wonderful news ♥️♥️ Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Lots of love ladies! Xxx

HJen22 · 17/09/2021 08:41

@Lynne425 what wonderful news to wake up to ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations lovely I am so happy for you. And on your due date too 🥰 after going through your MC I really am
hoping for the best for you and this one!

@AZ1992X morning! Happy Friday ladies! Good thanks how are you?

The reflexology for some reason I didn't seem to fully relax, I don't think I'm very good at switching off! But I know some people really like it!

We came away last night; we're just an hour or so away from home so we drove up after work, today we're going for a walk around a Loch with the pup 🐶

What does everyone on this weekend? Xx

HopefulGlow · 17/09/2021 08:38

@AZ1992X thank you so much! 💞

I loved chatting with HJen yesterday too, it’s so interesting hearing what other people are doing to help their chances.

I’ve decided if I start my period next try, I’m going to the doctors and starting the help process!!

Have you been doing anything that has helped/made you feel better?

✨💕✨
