Stories/outcomes of BFP and prolonged bleeding???

I am wondering what the outcome of bleeding for more than a couple of days was for others. I started bleeding and cramping last wednesday, not as heavy as period bleeding but enough to need a tampon. It has continued 7days now. On Sunday (5th day of bleeding) I took a pt to see if I was pregnant as I had other symptoms and it was a definite bfp.

I rang the EPU and they have said to take another test in two weeks. I am very early. probably 2-3 weeks. I am just wondering what to expect. The midwife seemed to suggest that it was likely a miscarriage.

Would I be foolish to hope for a good outcome?

I bled or spotted from 4dpo to 14dpo in my current pregnancy. I also had pretty bad cramping for some of that time. I’m 26 weeks now. In my first pregnancy I spotted (sometimes bright red light bleeding) every day from 5 weeks to 12 weeks. My son’s a healthy 2.5 yr old now.
My miscarriages also began with spotting and cramping, but in both of those I’d lost symptoms before the bleeding began. Every woman’s different, so it may not be exactly the same for you as for me, but I’d guess that it’s a really good sign that your other symptoms are appearing or growing even while you have the spotting. That would give me a lot of hope. Crossing my fingers for you that it turns out well. I know how hard the uncertainty can be.

@ajahd yes, I mean that it is only 2 weeks since we had sex. I am surprised that my positive line on the test is so strong, but maybe that is normal... I haven't a clue!! At what stage were you when you started to bleed? Thank you for your reply, it is encouraging to know this.

@Bundaberg84 I have been doing the same, trying to find threads and peoples experiences with this. I bled similarly with my wee boy but for only two days. The midwife never mentioned testing HCG. How far along are you?

@Ajahd the size of your fist? I would have passed out! That must have been horrible for you to go through!

@Providence6 is there any chance you can your hcg tested? I'm bleeding since 10 days now and that's what they did. Took blood on Thursday and yesterday and hcg levels are 'excellent' so at leat I know I'm still pregnant. Other than than there is unfortunately not much you can do.
But as as I read what felt like 1000 threads about bleeding in early pregnancy I can say that it can mean everything or nothing at all. Over 20% experience this, and in over 50% of all cases the pregnancy continued without any further problems. That doesn't mean that the rest were all miscarriages though, but some needed treatment.
Fingers crossed for you 🤞

When you say 2-3 weeks, do you mean 2-3 weeks since you got your positive test? Or 2-3 weeks since you had sex?

I bled consistently every day for 6 weeks strsight.sometumes it was light only when wiping. And sometimes it poured. I passed a blood clot the size of my fist, as well as many little ones.

My bleeding started on a Friday night and I couldn't wait til Monday to speak to EPU so I booked a private scan for Saturday morning, I think it was around £50. I think I was around 8 or 9 weeks at that point.

My boy is 8 months and the bleed hasn't affected him whatsoever. TMI, but the consultant actually commented on how she could see evidence of the bleed on the placenta after he was born which I thought was interesting.

I know how difficult it is, and you can't stop yourself from worrying. Just know that it can work out. I hope it all works out for you
