Decided it's time to try for DC2 soon in a couple of months, anyone in the same boat?

I'm off to the shops today to pick up some folic acid and may buy a pineapple so I can eat the core... it seemed to help last time with conception 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

@firsttimemummy321 it's definitely crossed my mind about birthdays, but my DS was 2 weeks late. So I guess when you think about it there's such a big window of when baby could actually arrive! Also the plus would be as long as they were a similarish size to DC1 then all their clothes and things would be seasonally appropriate for hand me downs.

abbs1 · 10/06/2021 20:04

@firsttimemummy321 the thought of them sharing birthdays has definitely crossed my mind.
After suffering hyperemesis last time im having to sort stuff out in case it happens again and trying to get hold of medications etc to help me pre emptively. Also hyperemesis in summer is horrendous. I had the beginning of my pregnancy in August 2019 and it was bad.
Atm im trying to track my cycles as they are all over the place and we arent specifically trying yet. We will start August-Sept to properly try but if it happens sooner thats also fine. I dont mind them sharing a birthday month! Esp as my little boy was due 2nd April and came 19th of March.

What about you? X

firsttimemummy321 · 10/06/2021 19:35

I've missed so much!!

@abbs1 @AtomicSquash my first was around the same time a couple of weeks early too :)
What are your thoughts of trying around now/next month and possibly them sharing a birthday?

abbs1 · 09/06/2021 20:02

@laurenxx94 oh thank you i will have a look into that.

@atomicsquash oh wow! Yes my little boy was born two weeks early 19th of March last year. What a crazy time to have a baby and now ttc again! I hope you get your bfp soon xx

AtomicSquash · 09/06/2021 19:28

We're starting to try and conceive our second too. First month trying this month. Our DS was not planned so it's all quite novel actually being able to plan it! You've all reminded me about starting to take folic acid as well.
@abbs1 I think we must have had our first at a very similar time. Our DS was born on the 21st March. I know what you mean about scary times. Definitely didn't think then that covid would still be an issue when TTC our second.
Hoping for some BFPs soon.

Laurenxx94 · 09/06/2021 18:59

@abbs1

I would definitely ask to get them checked again. The only thing im currently doing atm is tracking ovulation with ovulation sticks as my cycles are all over the place due to the covid jab so im hoping that helps as ive had 2 cycles of trying when i thought i was ovulating and nothing so far. Will see if it helps. Im taking folic acid too. Xx
I've been reading up a lot and if you google "Vitex" there's been a lot of good reviews for regulating cycles and helping ovulation ? Maybe something you could look into to help xx
Rct4 · 09/06/2021 17:57

Been trying for baby #2 since November had a miscarriage in February so keeping every crossed it happens soon. I'm trying my absolute hardest to telex about things but it's important😂😂. X

@abbs1

Oh I see. How long before your miscarriage was your progesterone checked? Could you have another blood test to double check your levels to see if you need supplements? January is so far away. 😔 or is it possible to get a second opinion from another gp xxx
I got them checked just that cycle so I think I will give them a phone tomorrow and see if I can get them checked again, are you trying anything new? I also tried conceive plus too xx

Laurenxx94 · 09/06/2021 13:18

@abbs1

It was awful so im fully preparing for it to happen again 😔 Can you maybe ask your gp to do a blood test and tell them youve suffered a miscarriage and were told your progesterone was low so they can check and give you something if needed?
I already have had my progesterone checked and apparently was normal at 21 which I know isn't then when I suffered my miscarriage there my progesterone is at 1.8 and they said maybe consider supplements but my doctor didn't say anything at all about it and has just referred me back to gynaecologist which is apparently waiting list isn't till January xxx

Laurenxx94 · 09/06/2021 12:27

@abbs1

They didnt find anything wrong but I did suffer with severe hyperemesis gravidarum which affects only 2% of women in the pregnancy with my little boy. It was horrendous but i got through it. I would definitely ask for extra scans and if you are at all worried go to the early pregnancy unit and see if they can do you an early scan for reassurance or if you have any cramping definitely go in and get checked for your own piece of mind.
That must of been difficult I do think I have low progesterone but I'm so scared to try any natural remedies in case I mess things up x
Laurenxx94 · 09/06/2021 12:26
@abbs1 good idea! I'm not on any contraception and for the first time in my life I'm having 28 day cycles, so assuming I'm ovulating as normal but probably won't track just yet.

@Laurenxx94 I did eeeeeverything before. Acupuncture, drinking grapefruit juice, pineapple core. You name it, I did it! I also temped but I don't want to do that this time. My daughter wakes up a lot so I don't think it'd be reliable. Going to just do opks (cheapies) and COQ10, DHA and of course folic acid and Vitamin D. That still sounds a lot but believe me, it's nothing compared to what I was like! Really sorry for your loss. A positive test still gives you so much hope and you must be feeling really disheartened. Hope you get your sticky bfp soon. What are you doing to track / support?
What are the coq10 and DHA I've seen it a lot come up but not sure the benefits ? My partner is on coq10 and 3 others lol.

I tried temping last month and didn't see any difference and thought I hadn't ovulated but obviously I did 🤦🏼‍♀️ so no more temping and just use my clearblue digi opk which I do find good but expensive. I tried the cheap ones but them and the clearblue didn't match so didn't know what to do 😭 I'm currently taking folic acid and vitamin D too xx

@Chanel05

Hello! My dd is 1 in September and I think we will be ttc#2 around then. She took 16 months with a mmc in between to conceive, so I really don't want to put any pressure on myself this time when I know that every positive test doesn't equal a baby and it can take a long time. Both times I conceived it took me 8 months so I'm prepared for that again.
Hi Chanel! Are you trying anything different this time round? We're on month 9 after a chemical just the other day. Absolutely devastating getting that bfp for to then in a matter of days no longer be pregnant. I had a total gut feeling something was wrong and just knew ! Xxx
Laurenxx94 · 09/06/2021 10:10
@herewegoagain24 yes those ovulation sticks are really good!

@laurenxx94 oh im sorry to hear about your miscarriage. We suffered one before our little boy who is now nearly 15 months. I hope you get some good news soon. I conceived the cycle after my miscarriage.
Thanks for sharing your story, that gives me some positivity! I think everything just goes through your head thinking what's the problem ? Did anything ever end up an issue for your or did it take you just a bit longer? Are you taking any vitamins etc this time round xx

abbs1 · 09/06/2021 10:07

@chanel05 we are gonna properly start trying in sept but im tracking my cycles now to see whats going on to hopefully help this time.
Definitely dont put pressure on yourself. I hope you get your bfp soon.

Hey ladies can I join?
I'm ttc number 2 my daughter is 5. I'm with a different partner so with my daughter wasn't planned. We have been ttc for 9 months now and I just had a miscarriage 2 days ago. Apparently my progesterone was low but didn't know wether the miscarriage caused that or the progesterone caused the miscarried ! We just want to get back trying as we feel more than ever it will happen we were worried about my partners sperm but the fact we actually got a bfp makes it easier!
I've been taken pregnacare and stopped now taking 800mg folic acid and high strength vitamin D , apparently b6 can help progesterone too so thinking of throwing that in!

HereWeGoAgain24 · 09/06/2021 07:49

@PajamaLife @abbs1

I swear by those ovulation tests! I used easy@home ones when I conceived DS and been using wondfos (both cheapies off Amazon) for the last few months to track my cycles and get to know when I'm ovulating. I use the Pre-mom app to track them, super helpful!

The Glow app for general cycle tracking is good too, what do you both use?

Yes I have heard lots of stories about women who have had changes to their cycles after the vaccine, which is reassuring, I think?! Hopefully just a short term effect. I've done exactly the same for my next cycle and ordered some ovulation tests, so that if my cycle is a bit unpredictable for a few months, at least I have a better chance of catching ovulation when it does happen!

PajamaLife · 09/06/2021 07:36

I know - this is the first time ever I've been praying AF will visit! I've tested every other day since the first day of my missed period, so I'm confident I'm not pregnant, just waiting to try again!
