Hi girls,

I am so frustrated. I’ve been trying to conceive my fourth since feb. All 28-35 day cycles and no joy: this last cycle has been 45 days so far with me ovulating on cd32. Pregnancy test is negative today 😭 the doctor is not interested but has said he will test to see if I’m peri menopausal. I conceived first month with my other three. This is a new partner but he has a child so I don’t get what the problem is. Sorry I just needed to rant to someone who may understand x

Meant to say we weren’t ttc when I did conceive

Lucy8721 · 04/07/2021 20:12

Thank you. We weren’t even ttc when I actually didn’t conceive so it is frustrating now it’s not happening. It’s been 3 months since, hoping this month will be the lucky month. Sending baby dust to everyone xx

Hopetobeamumof4 · 04/07/2021 19:35

Thanks @Sunnytimes21 I tested today and negative of course! 😂 how are you getting on?

Welcome to the group @Monicatatie, sounds like you’re a little undecided what to do but having kids with closer age gaps is always nice. But so is a decent gap too. It’s hard to know when the right time is isn’t it?

So sorry for your loss @Lucy8721 that’s heartbreaking. So frustrating you haven’t conceived again since, I’m sure it will happen. It just seems to be a waiting game. This is cycle 4 for me and I conceived first time with all of my three. 😓

Lots of luck and love to us all x

@Lucy8721 about 3 cycles of serious tracking and dtd as often as possible. I kind of followed the sperm meets egg plan. We conceived the month my DH gave up vaping, dont know if it's linked though

Lucy8721 · 03/07/2021 19:30

How long did it take for the 3rd? I started with the opks last month and just got af today but don’t only managed to dtd before I had the positive opk not the day of or after so maybe that’s why. Will try again this month xx

Monicatatie · 03/07/2021 19:19

@Hopetobeamumof4 🤞 for tomorrow

@Sunnytimes21 my two eldest have been so good with their new baby sister, I'm quite lucky there hasn't been any jealousy at all. Hopefully it will be the same again.
How your 11 year old feel about a new sibling?

@Lucy8721 so sorry for your loss. I also conceived my first 2 very quickly, wasnt too bad with the 3rd one but I did have to start using opks after a couple of months of no results, which I didnt need to do with my first two babies.

Lucy8721 · 03/07/2021 18:56

Hi. I’m also ttc a baby with a new partner. I have 2 children already 11 and 8. Had a miscarriage in March at 7 weeks and haven’t had a bfp since :( I’m 34 and conceived quickly with my 2.

Hopetobeamumof4 · 03/07/2021 18:23

I’m on hols right now so tomorrow when I get home 💃🏻I’ll be 8dpo so probably won’t show anyway x

Forgot to say, my eldest dd is at uni and the younger dd has a flat, so just me, dp and ds here.
@Hopetobeamumof4 when are you testing? Excited for you!

Sunnytimes21 · 03/07/2021 17:56

@Monicatatie in my experience, older children can be much more demanding of undivided attention than little ones. It's all swings and roundabouts really so please don't worry your dd sharing you. She could adore her new sibling and it be the best thing ever, just as much as it could go the other way.
We have 3 beds here and a separate dining room. Using the box room as an office for dp at the moment, I work from the dining room (GDPR and all that). But he'd need to move to the dining room if we have a baby and I'd be able to work from the living room part time when the time came.

Monicatatie · 03/07/2021 14:19

How many bedrooms do you guys have? Do your kids have to share a room?

Monicatatie · 02/07/2021 16:54

Thank you @Sunnytimes21
It would work out financially but I dont think I could work as childcare costs are too high and I have no family around to help out. So I'd have to be a housewife for a few years, but I'm okay with that. As to the energy, I think I would cope. My 9 months old is such an easy going baby. But who knows if the next one would be as easy. I think I was freaking out because she's still so little and I feel guilty for making her share me with a newborn if you know what I mean. My other two are 5 and 7.

Sunnytimes21 · 02/07/2021 11:20

@Monicatatie welcome to the thread Smile. Tbh, if my dp and I are successful once then I probably won't use protection afterwards. I like the thought of two tiny ones. But if you're freaking out then it may be best to hold back? Are you financially comfortable and have the energy?
My 3 are nearly 11, nearly 18 and 20 so been a fair while. I'm revved up for starting all over again Grin. How old are yours?

Monicatatie · 02/07/2021 09:32

Hi guys, hope you dont mind me joining this thread. I'm about to start ttc 4th baby, I'm 38. I had my last baby last September, so if it happens it will be a short gap. I'm a bit scared though as I dont feel 100 % ready but my DH is up for it and we dont want to leave it too late. We DTD this week without protection and I kind of freaked out after, wondering if that's what I really wanted 🤷‍♀️ but I felt okay the next day.
How old are your other children?

Sunnytimes21 · 02/07/2021 08:39

@Hopetobeamumof4 I should be ovulating next Friday, so concentrating on other things for now. Like applying for a new job, I figure life goes on between the trying! I'd have tested by now if I was you, I'm awful for it Grin. Good luck!!!

Hopetobeamumof4 · 01/07/2021 23:46

How are we all doing? I’m 6dpo tomorrow and really want to test which I know is silly as it will be negative regardless! Think I’m addicted x

@Hopetobeamumof4 and @Sunnytimes21 they aren’t the cheapest ones around, but I’d read an awful lot about the absorption of coq10 in comparison to ubiquinol in its natural form etc and just decided it was worth the extra cost.

I did find after ordering from them once they sent me every month or so a booklet with all their offers in it, and a money off voucher that I could use on my online order. Wasn’t loads off or anything, but as they say, every little helps!

Xx

Sunnytimes21 · 28/06/2021 10:15

@Moominmiss thank you, that's really useful 😊. I've ordered the 120 tablets and will take 2 a day. I've apologised to my bank balance x

Hopetobeamumof4 · 28/06/2021 09:53

Thank you @Moominmiss I’m going to start on these. I already take coq10 but this sounds better x

Moominmiss · 28/06/2021 09:41

@Sunnytimes21 of course I don’t mind.

I did tons of research into it too before deciding which to buy.

I used these
www.naturesbest.co.uk/co-q10/co-q10/ubiquinol-100mg/?src=GONATOE1C&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhZKW8va58QIVgu7tCh0xsAoWEAAYASAAEgKKGPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I also realised I put that I took 300mg a day. I didn’t. I took 2 capsules a day so 200mg!

Sunnytimes21 · 28/06/2021 09:32

@Hopetobeamumof4 yes, that would be amazing wouldn't it!
@Moominmiss do you mind if I ask which ubiquinol you took? I've read so much about absorption and doses that I think I may well have gone mad x

Hopetobeamumof4 · 27/06/2021 21:20

@Sunnytimes21 I’m so sorry af came. What a massive pain: I have tested at 13dpo each month thinking maybe there is a slim chance but when it shows negative I think you do lose hope by that point. Here’s to next month hey. I’m hoping I get my bfp in 2 weeks and you follow two weeks behind me. That would be amazing. X

Hopetobeamumof4 · 27/06/2021 21:18

Oh wow @Moominmiss that’s amazing! What a struggle for you but what a brilliant result! Thank you you for sharing with me. So much luck for the rest of your pregnancy, what a positive story x

@Hopetobeamumof4 yey, yes that's a positive! A nice dark line. How exciting, the tww begins tomorrow and I'll keep everything crossed for you. Af arrived a couple of hours ago for me, as I was about to go swimming. Had a swim as thankfully was prepared. I knew I was out after taking a test yesterday as it would have shown something by 13dpo surely.

@Moominmiss there are loads of great things to note from your message and I'll take notes when I'm home. Congratulations on being 28 weeks now, soon have a lovely squidgy baby in your arms x

Moominmiss · 27/06/2021 16:27

@Hopetobeamumof4 I just wanted to say I was in your position a while ago.

I have 3 children with my ex husband. I’m 38 (soon to be 39). Have been with my partner for 4 years now. He’s younger than me by 8 years and has no children of his own.

I conceived my 3 children extremely easily, within 2 months of ttc each time. But I was 32 last time I was pregnant with my youngest.

We started ttc in September 2019, and amazingly fell pregnant in October. I sadly miscarried at 9 weeks.

I then went onto have 2 more miscarriages in the next few months. So for me it seemed I could still get pregnant but likely my age was the contributing factor to my eggs being old and just not sticking.

Thankfully I had a very supportive GP who referred me to a fertility consultant. We were seen within 6 weeks. This was in the summer of 2020.

I had blood tests done on day 3 and day 21, my partner had a semen analysis done, and I had scans to check my follicle count and overall condition of my ovaries and uterus.

All test results were brilliant and showed no reason for not being able to keep hold of a pregnancy.

I’d been tracking my ovulation with ovulation tests, but out of desperation bought an OvuSense monitor to track my ovulation more precisely using core body temp - I knew I could never stick to the routine of having to take my own bbt every morning at the same time etc, so this took the hassle out of it. I just woke in the morning and synced the monitor to my phone.

My cycles could range from 29 days up to 36. But I found I was ovulating later around cd22.

The fertility consultant basically said there was no more she could do for me as I already had children.

I was taking 300mg ubiquinol every day as it’s very good for older women ttc as it helps improve egg quality.

I also started taking the higher dose folic acid, and a higher dose of vitamin d.

I also decided to try soy isoflavones (like the natural form of clomid). I took it on days 2-6 and it brought my ovulation forward to cd14. Each cycle I took them my ovulation was at a more ‘normal’ time.

I went onto fall pregnant again. In that time between seeing the consultant and getting my BFP I’d read lots about aspirin helping to sustain a pregnancy. I tried to get hold of the consultant or my GP to ask whether I should start taking it. Sadly I didn’t hear back from anyone and unfortunately miscarried again before I could start on it.

I decided then that when we started ttc again after that miscarriage I would take aspirin as I felt I had nothing left to lose.

When we did start ttc again, I took 150mg aspirin from 1dpo. I got a bfp at 8dpo and amazingly the lines on my tests progressed brilliantly, and the bleeding never came.

I had a scan with EPU at 5+4 and we saw a heartbeat. They then started me on progesterone pessaries as a bit of a boost.

I took those until 16 weeks.

I saw my midwife at 9 weeks who checked with the consultant about me taking the aspirin. She said I’d done the right thing, and had I not already started myself on it, she’d have put me on it!

I’m now 28 weeks pregnant and all (so far, touch wood) has been perfect.

I fully credit the aspirin and soy isoflavones in getting me here.

I used to find it so frustrating waiting for ovulation and never really knowing at what point in my cycle it would happen, and therefore no idea how long my cycle would be!
