Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

Ahhh I have the Premom app too @HRP1990 - I find it really useful. I'm not 100% certain when my peak was either. We went away for a week and I decided to do some research and order the test strips whilst there - so didn't track my full cycle.

I've got plenty of strips though so will tracking my full cycle this month which will be interesting.

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 07:53

Hi @KayL1988! Yes I downloaded the “Premom” app? It’s been really helpful to take pictures of the strips and see them all together. It predicted Ov for 30th but I think I had my peak 26/27th so assuming I’m 1DPO today.

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 07:48

Welcome @HRP1990!!! I love the fact there's a few of us in similar situations! Are you testing ovulation with test strips? Xx

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 07:38

Hi girls, mind if I join? I’ve been a lurker from a far but I feel like I’m in the same boat as you all I thought I’d jump in and say hi! I’m 30 also, TTC first month properly and currently DPO1 I think.. still trying to learn the lingo and will google every single symptom until I find the answer I want haha

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 07:29

@CTMcG I know I think in my head it was like technically you can get pregnant anytime but you have about two weeks a month when it's super easy.

Yeah I used to dread my period - now I'm just grateful I have them and a recognisable cycle of some kind. It's weird how now - it feels like AF is a negative but also a positive because you have a few days of drinking wine 😂 and then you have a whole other chance just around the corner. The TWW is an absolute mare - I'm sure a man invented it. I love the fact the egg is so keen to not stick around more than a day or two.... but then it takes weeks to properly latch on 😂

CTMcG · 28/05/2021 07:22

@KayL1988 @Peachycream totally agree about the re education! It blew my mind that you can only get pregnant in such a short window of the month! 31 btw😂 but i guess when your avoiding something all your life you dont really look into it much!

In this first month i have went from not wanting to see my period to really wishing it comes asap! I know i am not pregnant & I feel like im stuck in limbo until it does come now so i can try again! Cd38 and counting😭

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 07:15

@Peachycream @CTMcG - yeah I have absolutely no idea how people just get pregnant without trying?

If you aren't using birth control then surely your cycle tracking in which case you'd know? Unless contraception fails at precisely the wrong moment? I knew someone who got pregnant after being ill - because the sickness had got rid of her contraceptive pill (and she hadn't realised).

I really think they need to pull all us women into a classroom again in our mid twenties.... 'look girls... I know when you were 11 we said if you didn't use contraception you'd get pregnant... but it's a bit more complicated than that'. 😂

Peachycream · 28/05/2021 07:06

Welcome!

Ah tell me about it! I’m like you, I’d never really paid too much attention before because I didn’t really need to, but it’s such a complicated process! Or it seems that way anyway.

@CTMcG like you, I’ve started to wonder how it “just happens” for some people, I sat there yesterday thinking no way does someone just seem to time it right by mistake, surely they already have some idea of when to get down to it 🤣

@Peachycream the first few weeks I went down a rabbit hole of symptom spotting, fuelled by threads on here so definitely doesn't work for me so steering clear of doing that going forward!

@KayL1988 so true! Spent my life trying not to get pregnant and now i keep thinking HOW does someone get pregnant by accident?! It seems like a minefield lol

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 06:58

@Peachycream @CTMcG Hey - I'm 32, trying for 1st, 1st cycle.... due AF this weekend.

I feel like there is so much lingo to learn but I think it definitely helps having people to talk to! It's such a weird process I'd never really thought too much about - and no one really talks about it because by the time they announce the pregnancy the pain of trying is probably so far behind them!

Be nice to see how you both get along and fingers crossed for a quick success!! 🥰

Peachycream · 28/05/2021 06:15

@CTMcG sorry lovely, I passed out last night, it was a long day working!

Yeah I think I’d probably be the same 🤣

Awh that sucks, so it can be a bit of a nightmare for you to figure out what’s going on when sometimes especially if AF doesn’t show up when you think she will.

We can keep each other away from the tests! I swear sometimes it’s psychosomatic, I was reading through here the other day and then noticed a load of symptoms, I was there for like an hour googling and thinking ahhh it’s happened without me even trying band then I had to check myself and be like hold on, moron, you literally just had af, you took a test after that before you started tracking ovulation, don’t be stupid 😂

Yes! It will be nice to have someone to talk to about it and let out the crazy inside!

@Peachycream haha yes that would be good but then i would never get anything done but look at it all day😂

I have pcos so I am assuming i have irregular periods.. hard to tell as some will say it can take a good while for them to become ‘regular’ after the pill but time will tell! My advice, only 1 cycle in is dont test too early! Going forward i vow to only take a pregnancy test when af is late. I drove myself crazy thinking i had all these pregancy symptoms!! It will be good to have a newbie buddy on this journey!!

Peachycream · 27/05/2021 21:16

Hi CTMcG

Thanks for the welcome!

To be 100% honest with you, I have no idea what my cycles are like usually as I’ve never really tracked it properly, I’d kinda pop in a period on my app when I remembered 🤣 my last one was 34 days but didn’t TTC in that cycle as I just wanted to know roughly how long I’d be looking at, and it usually turns up around the same date each month (even after coming off birth control) so I assume it’s roughly 30/34 days.

I’ve only been looking into it all on here for the last few days and I already feel overwhelmed! God knows what it will be like in a few months time haha.

It’s the waiting and not knowing isn’t it? Don’t you just wish there was a tiny little light on your foof that turned different colours for different things 🤣
