Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

Hi girls, I really hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m 29 and ttc my first with my fiancé. I’m constantly lurking on this site and I’m still getting use to all the short names for things. Thank god for google!!!
We’ve been trying for 6 months now and every single month we think it’s the month. I know it’s not that long but I feel so paranoid.
About 3 years ago I got pregnant and it ended up being an ectopic pregnancy and I lost my left tube and it was so traumatic.
Now we are actively trying and nothing? I don’t understand how it just happened before.
My best friend announced last week she is pregnant by accident and it floored me. I’m delighted for her but I was stunned.
Sorry for all the info just had to get it off my chest Blush

@KayL1988 @HRP1990 I love crime documentaries too, my OH doesn't get it and thinks I'm weird but they're my fave things to binge. Let's hope AF steers clear!

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 19:40

Ohhh you'll have to send Bbq progress updates @SareBear87 - we've definitely not been that ambitious with the garden this year!

@Aries491 @HRP1990 BBQ sounds delightful but yes relaxing with the TV is also nice (especially if AF shows her ugly face). I also love a crime documentary - I think I've binged all the ones possible!!!!

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 19:35

I plan on being horizontal all weekend. Whether that’s outside in the sun or in bed binging something on Netflix 😂 anything crime related has my name all over it!

PaleGreenAndBrightOrange · 28/05/2021 19:05

@SareBear87 I had proper period cramps the day before I had the positive pregnancy test that became my little boy. Being pregnant felt EXACTLY like waiting for AF at the beginning so I had no clue. I just tested because it was weird to have cramps then no blood the next day.

That I’m TTC number 2 it’s hard not to interpret every period symptom as a lurking baby 🙄

But anyway... you’re not out til you see AF

Aries491 · 28/05/2021 19:00

That sounds nice @KayL1988 such a relaxing Saturday:-) i love having the telly to watch crap for hours lol! looking at the weather might have a bbq either Sunday or Monday :-)

SareBear87 · 28/05/2021 18:59

I am so glad it's the weekend! I seem to chill out more. I think it's because I have things planned so I've got a welcome distraction!

Anyone got any plans?

We started the ambitious plan of building a brick BBQ in the garden at the start of the month but with all the awful weather means we haven't finished it. This weekend we have to get moving on it as we have F&F coming over in June for actual BBQs 😅

Seemed like a great idea at the time!

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 18:48

Hey @Aries491 - I am so glad it's the bank holiday weekend!! The husbands golfing tomorrow morning so I plan on lying in bed with the dog watching bad tv for a few hours - bliss!! Have you got any plans??

Aries491 · 28/05/2021 18:29

Hi @HRP1990 so glad so many of us are similar ages :) I haven't told anyone we are ttc, don't fancy unnecessary pressure but need to chat/offload/read stuff somewhere so been lurking for a while on MN :)

Anyone else so glad it's a bank holiday?! :)

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 16:51

@KayL1988 that’s very true! Everytime I go on Facebook there’s anyways another pregnancy announcement from girls I went to school with. Seems like there’s less and less of us.

Hey @Aries491 👋🏻 So many of us in our early 30s here though, I’m so glad! As soon as my period is finished I’m on the OPK’s patiently (or not so) waiting haha

Aries491 · 28/05/2021 16:05

Hi ladies mind if I join? I am 30, ttc first baby and 2nd cycle, just finished AF yesterday so eager to get started again haha! First time testing with opks this time as well as came off the pill last August and use apps to track but would like a "confirmation" that I am ovulating when it says :) best of luck for everyone in their ttc journey!!

Yeah it's just perception isn't it! I feel like shows like friends and sex and the city the main characters are all mid to later thirties by the time they have babies.

I just look around me now and don't seem many people my age without kids or pregnant.

Yeah business idea... I'm not sure my 25 year old self would have invested in this 😂😂 I'd be like 'errr or a holiday?'

We've got this ladies!!! 🥰🥰

Peachycream · 28/05/2021 12:46

@SareBear87 @KayL1988 @CTMcG @HRP1990

I’m just gunna @ everyone cause that feels like the right thing to do 🤣

Ah! I get what you all mean about being early 30s and feeling old trying for 1st one. When we were thinking about it I said to the nurse at my GP will I struggle because of my age at all? And she looked at me like I was insane and was like......no love, if you was 40s I may have said yes but you’re young and healthy. And I was thinking well if you’ve watched the Kardashians or any kind of reality TV you’ll know that the minute they turn 30 they freak and go straight out and freeze their eggs or have embryos made!

It feels so out of place for a woman in her 30s to be trying for the first time, but I sit there and think to myself, when I was in my early/mid 20s I didn’t have that kinda time on my hands! I was too busy having fun 😂

You’re right about needing more accurate sex Ed as you get older, especially for women, we all should be pulled to the side for like a week seminar where someone stand there and goes “look girls, this is what’s REALLY up!” Business venture anyone? I think we’d make billions!

IUI - Think turkey baster and you got it Grin. They paid for private treatment without trying because of age (and the assumption it would take forever). First basting session and boom - she caught!

I have cramps today so I think I'm out, AF is due Sunday/Monday and its about the right time for my uterus to start being aggy. On the plus side I can have a glass or two of something over the bank holiday!

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 10:49

@Peachycream hope work is going well! Excited to have a little group too!

@HRP1990 yeah I've definitely not told people either. It's such unnecessary pressure and you never know which of your friends you can ask - like I've no idea if they struggled. I know some of them haven't and got pregnant first time - so just don't want to have that convo!

@SareBear87 I know what you mean - I had no idea a full year was completely normal! Fingers crossed it happens for you soon.🥰

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 10:46

@SareBear87 god me too. If I knew how long it could potentially take I would have started years ago! My boyfriend is the same, so chilled. If only they knew what we were like behind the scenes haha. I think he’d freak at my google search history 😂 (what is IUI!?)

SareBear87 · 28/05/2021 10:33

@KayL1988 its been OK, I've learnt a HUGE amount in that time. Some months I have been totally chilled and other months (like this one) I am symptom watching every little hiccup and twinge!

@HRP1990 Yeah all my friends have children, even my best friend who is 37 is pregnant (although this is a IUI baby - but still it was the first attempt!)

My partner is older and way more chilled out than me. I just feel like something should have happened by now surely? But I keep being told it is totally normal for it to take a year... I wish I'd known that sooner!

Peachycream · 28/05/2021 10:16

Hello ladies,

Oooh lots of new messages 🙈

I’m getting excited now I have some people to talk to rather than getting a blank look from other half! Haha.

I’m just popping in quick when I have a minute between work to say I’m not ignoring anyone, I’ll have a proper read through and reply properly this avvo 🥰

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 10:07

I agree with both of you @SareBear87 @ @KayL1988 all my friends had kids early 20’s and I’m the only one out my group that doesn’t have kids yet. It’s only recently we’ve started talking about trying and I didn’t realise how much of a mind field is it!

I’m not wanting to tell anyone we’re TTC either as I don’t want any pressure. I’d totally read that book haha

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 09:46

IMO The more the merrier - quite nice to have a little group of early 30s trying for #1! I also feel a bit out of place as it doesn't feel like a lot of people are just trying for their first in their early 30's! Feels like a lot of people have gone through it once and are onto their second. Makes me feel completely out of my depth!

How has your journey gone so far @SareBear87 ??

SareBear87 · 28/05/2021 09:31

Hi Ladies, do you mind if I join too?

My situation is kinda the same although we've been trying for 6 months for No. 1. I'm 33 and like most people we haven't told a soul we are TTC and I've found it can get a bit lonely with a the 20-somethings. I'm sitting like Grandma in the corner!

I totally get what you mean about the lack of education. I tend to write things down when I get upset or frustrated and I'm so tempted to write a short book for 20+year olds calling it something like 'The REAL sex ed' Grin

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 09:30

@HRP1990 CD26 today - my usual cycle length ranges from 27-29 so waiting for AF over the next few days! I started testing around CD15 but there wasn't a clear peak so not sure if I missed it or if it just wasn't super high - will know more next cycle!!!

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 09:11

Where are you in your cycle @KayL1988? I think the earlier you use them the better so you can gradually watch the test line darken? Fingers crossed for us all this month! @Peachycream @CTMcG
