Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

@glasspaw I'm 32 and I'd taken a pregnancy test before but only expensive ones when I was worried I'd missed my period and my contraception had failed (oh if only I knew the chances of the sperm getting through at precisely the right moment was so low 😂).

However last month I tried pregnancy testing - the plastic stick ones you can pee on (see instructions but usually just a few seconds) but my peeing skills aren't good enough for those little thin sticks! I just tend to dip now (you have to dip for longer but I feel like there is less risk of peeing on my hand..so I'll take that 😂. Soooo last month I used a little disposable takeaway Tupperware type thing which worked beautiful (I have however now invested into a proper pee pee cup (aka cheap plastic cup that isn't see through) I just keep with the bathroom cleaning stuff.

@HRP1990 glad it's just not me! I honestly don't know where all these emotions have come from! I also definitely am over thinking everything happening in my body!

@ConfusedNewbie21 sending you lots of positive thoughts! Peachy nailed the advice definitely try to hold off until your first pee with your FRER or go to the doctors or your really struggling.

glasspaw · 06/06/2021 20:24

@HRP1990 oh I hear you on that! I’m really wondering if I’m always this crampy and nauseous or whether I’m bringing it on myself by hoping that I get some sort of indication of a BFP in the TWW haha!

I bought my first pregnancy tests today. I’m 32 and I’ve never taken one before so this is possibly a silly question… but do you just pee straight on to them? I got a combination of FRER and the one step paper ones, and the paper ones look more like the kind you need to dip into a sample. Should I have ordered something to pee in too? (And that right there shoots to the top of the “questions I never expected myself to ask strangers on the internet” list).

HRP1990 · 06/06/2021 19:40

Yes! @KayL1988 films with weddings/pregnancies/anything emotional sets me off!

I’m also so much more aware of what’s happening in my body, any tiny pain/bloat/sick feeling (definitely no sick feeling here lol) since TTC!

KayL1988 · 06/06/2021 19:09

positive reinforcement everytime he doesn't eat a medium rare steak, sushi or cheese? 😂

Also.... anyone else feeling more emotionally since they made the decision to start trying? I honestly feel like an emotions tap has been switched on

Peachycream · 06/06/2021 18:28

I didn’t think of that, although, they say positive reinforcement works better than negative reinforcement, when a dog is good you treat them right? 😂😂😂

HRP1990 · 06/06/2021 18:22

Some men would actually enjoy the face licking @Peachycream 😂😂

Peachycream · 06/06/2021 18:13

@KayL1988 😂😂😂 I mean, it’s a fair response, wouldn’t you have said the same if it was the other way around 😂😂

There is a way around it though, you could try training him with negative reinforcement techniques, like every time he eats something you can’t, lick his face 😂

KayL1988 · 06/06/2021 18:08

I am dying for a baileys and white choc cheesecake now!

I mentioned the idea to my other half and his response was.... he completely understands that having a baby affects a woman a lot more than a man.... but why should we both suffer? 🥺

Peachycream · 06/06/2021 18:03

There’s no cheesecake delivery near me @HRP1990 😞

Everything we have to go through in life as women and then they take away our cheese!

HRP1990 · 06/06/2021 17:56

@KayL1988 I’m pretty sure all my suggestions would be followed up with a “fuck off” 😂

@Peachycream absolutely! But why make it.. where I live there are plenty of deliveroo options for cheesecake 🥴

Peachycream · 06/06/2021 17:50

@KayL1988 I can think of 1000 things, but I can also think of the 1000 different responses I would get that all mean no, and none of them are that polite 😂

@HRP1990 we can make cheesecake for 3 meals a day for months work right? I mean there’s loads of different flavour options 😂

OP posts:
KayL1988 · 06/06/2021 17:43

I've not ovulated yet - so I'm making the most of eating everything!!!

@Peachycream @HRP1990 😅 what can we make our other halves give up when we finally get our BFP?

HRP1990 · 06/06/2021 17:32

Cheesecake for dinner it is then 😂

Peachycream · 06/06/2021 17:18

@ConfusedNewbie21 personally I would wait until you get the FRER, otherwise you’re just going to drive yourself crazy, it’s quite possible that you’re far too early to get a result anyway. I’d wait until the end of next week. You say it was only in the last few days that you’d even had sex, to get any sort of a definitive you’re better off waiting until your 14 days past that point, by then you’ll know either way, I know it’s easy for me to say but you’re just gunna drive yourself mad lovely. Or, go to your GP and tell them that you’re getting test results that you can’t interpret, they’ll do a urine test and/or blood test to confirm either way.

@KayL1988 phew! So what we’re saying is the cheeses that no one really cares about are fine but all the good ones are out? I’m not sure I’m a fan of this 😂

@ConfusedNewbie21

Finally I can post photos!! Please, any opinions of what this could mean are welcome x

However... tests taken since then have been even fainter / blank apart from one today which was bright blue but thin. So confused!! FRER on the way

Also this...Hmm

@Peachycream cheesecake is fine (think it might have to be pasteurised) - so that's good 😂

Do we know if cheesecake is off the table at all? Cause if it is I’m going to have to rethink everything 😂

HRP1990 · 06/06/2021 14:58

Literally all of the best food.. is off limits 😭
I love a cheese board! Washed down with a glass of red wine - yum.

Even steak apparently unless you cook it well done!?

I may have to rethink this decision 😂

Peachycream · 06/06/2021 14:12

@KayL1988 I knew some of them, high Mercury fish, soft eggs, etc but I never even thought of cheese!

I just had a quick google after @HRP1990 said about cheese and the NHS site says as long as you cook it steaming hot Brie, Camembert etc is fine, 😮‍💨 😂😂😂

I think they’re usually grey or colourless @ConfusedNewbie21 but if it’s after the test time frame it’s not a reliable result

OP posts:
KayL1988 · 06/06/2021 14:11

@ConfusedNewbie21 I think generally people say they are usually greyish (but I've never had one myself)!

KayL1988 · 06/06/2021 14:07

@Peachycream the weekend we decided to start trying I looked up what food I needed to avoid and then I'm treating myself to some everytime AF arrives.

Soft Goats cheese, Camembert, Brie...... Gorgonzola..... Roquefort... just my faves 😂

ConfusedNewbie21 · 06/06/2021 14:05

May I ask if anyone knows if an evap line can be bright blue (on a blue dye test) or if it has to be colourless to be an evap line?

ConfusedNewbie21 · 06/06/2021 14:01

No wine and no cheese.... wow that has really added some factors to think about. Should we all call it quits now 😂 you know... for the cheese

Peachycream · 06/06/2021 13:47

Woah woah woah! Hold the phone! Let’s talk cheese for a minute……..what cheese is off the table here?! I may have to rethink my entire life right now!
