Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

@SareBear87 - I found it very reassuring and the author is funny but also informative. What did you think? I’ve skim read most of the book, but will probably go over in more depth soon.

@HRP1990 yep the Bluetooth is very useful, but those thermometers are a bit more expensive. I kept thinking I won’t spend money this month Because what if it’s the month I get pregnant, but as soon as AF came I was straight on Amazon prime to get a thermometer lol Grin

HRP1990 · 09/06/2021 08:49

He’s gorgeous 😍

Dannii892 · 09/06/2021 08:47

@HRP1990 he is cute but he's a handful haha apparently it's harder having a puppy.. one can hope lol .. we got him 2 days after moving into our new home so it's been ALOT!

Wow I missed a lot! Hi @justwant2beamum @PurpleCat88

@Dannii892 I’ve always wanted a Doberman they’re so cute!! Stressful having a puppy isn’t it 😂 good practise though!

@PurpleCat88 I might give that a read! I need something to take my mind of things and hopefully give me a better perspective on the process!

I haven’t tried tempting yet but the Bluetooth to your phone sounds great! I might try that a few cycles in if I’m unlucky this time around.

@Peachycream I’m trying to think of the now.. than the future otherwise I’ll scare myself out of all the changes haha. I’m focusing on the BFP and go from there 🤞🏻

SareBear87 · 08/06/2021 22:02

@PurpleCat88 I've ordered that book! Are you enjoying it? I'm hoping it will distract me during the TWW (O day on the 14th 🤞🏻).

I think everyone on here is in a similar situation and I think we are all in the late 20's-early 30's bracket which is nice!

I have a good feeling we will get some BFPs!!

PurpleCat88 · 08/06/2021 20:57

*it goes into the various tracking methods - sorry for the typos!

PurpleCat88 · 08/06/2021 20:55

@Peachycream it’s a good book - the right mix of humour and facts! For instance it debunks the whole ‘a women’s fertility falls off a cliff at age 35’ as apparently the data that’s often cited for that ‘fact’ is from 17th century French birth records, and the author uses much more recent data to show that’s not true snd it’s not all doom and gloom. Really interesting. It goes into d as ok the gators tracking methods and shows the benefits for each.

I’ll let you know if I’ve found temping useful after it’s confirmed I’ve ovulated - haha!

I’ll try and hold out this month until 12DPO - that’ll be a longer luteal phase at least, even if I do get AF.

Dannii892 · 08/06/2021 20:47

@Peachycream yeah you're right, I cant change whats happening to my body but I can change my mindset .. it will happen until than I'll just enjoy what I have already.. 😊
This is why these sites are so important x thanks

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 20:26

@PurpleCat88 no! Is it good?! Do I need this book in my life?!

Yeah when I researched it you’re supposed to do it at the same time every day and before you even get outta bed, is that right? I kinda gave up looking at it once I found out that you have to have a steady sleep, I wake up too often in the night so it just wouldn’t work for me from what I read. Do you find it helpful though?

That’s the trouble with symptom spotting isn’t it, you get all excited but so many of them are the same as period symptoms. Like you, I had done a bit of lurking on here and read all the symptoms in other peoples threads and was convinced I had them, even though it wasn’t possible at the time 😂 it’s funny what your brain can do to you at times.

When will you be testing this time? Will you wait until AF doesn’t show or do you plan on testing earlier? Xx

PurpleCat88 · 08/06/2021 20:16

@Peachycream - tbh I’m still new to temping so I’m probably doing it all wrong (I know you’re supposed to take temp at the same time everyday, but I can be an hour either side of my usual time). I have a Bluetooth thermometer that uploads straight to the Premom app, so no inputting required!

I’m finding TTC not too bad so far - the last cycle I was convinced I have symptoms on 9&10 DPO and I took a test on 10DPO which was BFN and got my period that afternoon - I will be waiting longer this month!

I found the couple of months before starting TTC worse as I was reading loads of threads on here and starting to obsess a bit, but now we’re trying I’m doing that less which is weird. I’ve also been reading a book ‘the impatient women’s guide to getting pregnant’ which is putting my mind at ease a bit. Has anyone else read it? Smile

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 19:59

@Dannii892 it appears to be working for me! We just need to find ways to be kind to ourselves as well because stressing can hinder the process sometimes.
But you gotta do whatever works for you and whatever is gunna make you feel calmer. I’ve always been a bit like why worry if you can’t change it and you’ve done everything you can up to the point of O, past that it’s outta your hands xx

Dannii892 · 08/06/2021 19:51

@Peachycream yes maybe I should try to reset my mind into thinking I missed ovulation and think about next month instead.. 🤔

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 19:36

Welcome @PurpleCat88 I don’t temp because my sleep is too disturbed so it would t work for me but use OPKs and premom app also 😊

How are you finding it so far? Xx

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 19:29

@Dannii892 we laugh, but a picnic in the park sounds pretty cute now I’m picturing it 😂

Yeah it is, it sucks that you can’t just know straight away. To be fair, I’m not really pulling my hair out about it, after my meltdown of did I miss my window or did I not, I sat and thought for my own sanity I’m better off just telling myself that I missed the window. So far it’s actually worked pretty well for me, I’m not feeling stressed or anxious BUT I am only 3 days past so give it a minute 😂 xx

Hi Ladies - please can I join as well? I’m 33 and TTC baby number 1. Currently in third cycle of trying (CD13) and I usually ovulate around CD17-20. I have a 28 day cycle so I think I have a slightly short luteal phase (not sure if that’s going to be a problem).

I’ve been using LH strips since March (practice cycle before starting TTC Grin) and I’ve also started temping this cycle too and using Premom app for both - is anyone else using any apps to track?

Dannii892 · 08/06/2021 19:24

@Peachycream yes hahaha .. think date will be in the park at this rate!
I forget that I'm in this TWW and than BAM! I remember im in Limbo - if I was able to test now though I'm not sure if I would, its soul destroying isn't it 😒 x

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 19:21

@Dannii892 Awh cute ☺️
I think cause it’s a lot less pressure for them they just forget what’s going on around them, it doesn’t really effect their life until a baby is in their arms I guess so it’s probably quite easy for him to semi forget about it.
Good luck with the date night, if you book now you might get in somewhere for 3 years time 😂 xx

@justwant2beamum sorry to hear about your MC .. everyone here is so lovely and in the same boat.. the horrid TWW .. how are you feeling?

@Peachycream I know what you mean! Sometimes my OH is so sweet and considerate and than hell do something which I think is about selfish and puts me right off.. but we've been together 12 years 13 in September so we're both like if not now when.. but tbf we have a 5 month doberman which has been frustrating us both so could be stressing us out.. need a date I think x

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 18:15

Welcome my lovely 🥰
I’m so sorry to hear about your MC, I hope you’re doing okay after that. There’s 3 of us all on 3DPO. The whole group is actually quite close together in our cycles, I think there’s only a week or so in it either way xx

justwant2beamum · 08/06/2021 18:09

Hey can I please join? I'm in a similar position and this thread seems light hearted and you all super lovely. I'm 27 and TTC our first. This is cycle #8. Came off the pill in sept 2020 - got BFP in January but had a mc in march so currently 3dpo cycle 4 again! X

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 17:10

Does anyone have sort of mixed emotions about all of this? Like you’re excited for the next chapter but also scared that everything is gunna be different?
Most of the time I’m really excited about it and then I have like a minute where I’m thinking, this is going to change literally everything and then I freak out.
Please tell me it’s not just me?

Hopefully we all get our BFP’s soon and we can turn this into a pregnancy chat ❤️

Dannii892 · 08/06/2021 15:29
