Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

@Peachycream has set up a new thread for us all!

Come on over to 🧙Witch day did I ovulate?!🧙

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/4272613--Witch-day-did-I-ovulate

PurpleCat88 · 16/06/2021 21:24

I used pre-seed last cycle. Hasn’t worked yet, but definitely makes DTD better! Haha.

@Peachycream I’ve tried to feel for my cervix a couple of times, and the only time I could feel it was near ovulation so I guess it makes sense it was low then.

@SkeletonSkins - so are there two different conception tablets you’re taking? What’s the fertility support one? Can you post a link? I’ve seen the ovulation support and might try next cycle. Do they both contain folic acid? Sorry too many questions 🙈

Looking forward to see the name if the new thread!

Peachycream · 16/06/2021 21:24

For anyone I didn’t tag (did you know you have to remember everyone off the top of your head?!) the new threat is “🧙 witch day did I ovulate?!🧙”

Peachycream · 16/06/2021 21:10

@HRP1990 yeah it’s gross haha it’s the kind of word that you cringe even before you say it 😂

I’m gunna set up the new thread now just incase we run out quicker than anticipated haha

@GingerTea333 it helps them swim, that makes sense!

Definitely LOLed at the “He probably just thinks I’m way more into it than usual” part 😂😂

HRP1990 · 16/06/2021 21:06

@Peachycream God the word “fluid” is so creepy isn’t it? Yuck 😂

I don’t use any personally but I’m happy to be educated!

GingerTea333 · 16/06/2021 21:06

@HRP1990 I think it just means the lube gets right up inside you and also there’s A LOT of it. Apparently it helps the little guys swim and also gives them vitamins or something? So using the applicator doesn’t just make “entry” easier but also once you’re doing it / afterwards. I think. I actually just found it felt quite nice 😂 I am definitely sharing more with you guys than I do with anyone else, I haven’t even admitted to my bf I have been trying the applicator stuff. He probably just thinks I’m way more into it than usual 🙈

Peachycream · 16/06/2021 20:55

@HRP1990 @GingerTea333 tell me it’s not true though? 😂

Are we talking lubes? I’ve never used any, do you find them helpful? I’ve seen some stuff on here with people using them and also supplements to increase men’s “fluids”

OP posts:
GingerTea333 · 16/06/2021 20:48

@Peachycream “you don’t know yourself until you pop a finger to your cervix” 🤣 that has killed me

HRP1990 · 16/06/2021 20:48

@Peachycream “you don’t know yourself until you pop a finger to your cervix 😂😂😂😂” you are too much haha

@GingerTea333 forgive me if this is a silly question but what difference does the applicator make? Should I just google the answer lol

HRP1990 · 16/06/2021 20:45

I don’t use one personally but I’ve read a few things on here about fertility lube I think it claims to mimic cervical “fluids” 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anything is worth a go right lol

I haven’t had any wine yet @KayL1988 but you bet I’ve been at the cheese! I had a blue cheese burger for dinner tonight 🤤

That sucks, people at work or work itself? Enjoy the wine! (My fave is 19 crimes) At 2DPO I don’t think it can do any harm

Peachycream · 16/06/2021 20:42

After all of this cervix talk maybe we should call ourselves The Cooter Rooters 😂

Yeah it does to me too @SkeletonSkins I can’t really tell a huge difference from day to day.

@HRP1990 and @KayL1988 give it a go, you don’t know yourself until you pop a finger to your cervix 😂😂😂😂😂

@GingerTea333 that’s the problem isn’t it, when they’re away there’s literally nothing you can do, this how I missed my window this month. And probably again next month, I think we should get some in just as the window starts but I can’t be sure until I get there, I might get lucky (in both senses of the word) but who knows?

I’ve lost track of myself now………..

GingerTea333 · 16/06/2021 20:40

We’ve been using the normal tube for a while with not much luck so I decided to spend a bit more this month and go for the applicators although a bit guilty with all the plastic waste! I really started using the lube because sometimes I need it anyway and you can’t use most lube for TTC. Generally find it makes things easier if we’re getting down to it a lot during fertile week! The applicator one has actually been quite nice from a sex perspective once you get over the fact it’s yet another weird thing you’re shoving up there, but like I said, I can definitely tell there’s more stuff coming out again 🙈 feel like this is a real TMI essay

KayL1988 · 16/06/2021 20:39

Does fertility lube actually help? I've read mixed things... I think if you use it you should change to a fertility supporting one so it doesn't kill the sperm... but if you don't... do you need to get it??

@HRP1990 how is cheese and wine party? I've had an awful few days at work so not going to lie I'm having a glass of wine a 2DPO

HRP1990 · 16/06/2021 20:28

I just had to google what the conceive plus applicator thing was @GingerTea333! I’ve read lots of things about pre seed lube, I assume it’s the same? How have you found it so far?

I’m very intrigued by it all! My new purchase this cycle is a thermometer I think next month might be some fertility lube lol

GingerTea333 · 16/06/2021 20:05

@Peachycream I am the same as you - I know we will miss O next month so that’s why I was a bit stressed about missing half my window this month! Think I will carry on tracking with the cheap OPKs anyway because knowledge is power, but not going to waste my clearblue monitor sticks on a dead month!

We have some vegan meats - a chicken one and a steak one occasionally, and sometimes sausages. But the longer we’re vegan, the more we are relying on tofu and beans etc for our protein. Definitely feel a bit healthier this way

@glasspaw yay 🌱😘 I haven’t really looked for any blogs but there have been a few podcasts lately that I listened to about eating vegan for fertility / pregnancy / breastfeeding and getting everything you need. I think I listened to a really good one on the Food Medic. Is there any deliciously Ella stuff? It still feels so unlikely to me I will ever get pregnant so I am not really focusing on what happens if i do!

Also love that I’m not alone on the cervix stuff. So glad I now have people I can talk to about this and don’t feel completely insane! I’ve actually stopped poking around up there because I’m not sure it gave me any more information and just gave me one more thing to do endlessly google!

The one different thing I have done this month is use the conceive plus applicator lube things. Has anyone tried them? Such a bizarre thing to find yourself doing and then it just means there’s even more stuff up there to work it’s way out afterwards...

KayL1988 · 16/06/2021 19:25

Just caught up. This is such a lovely chat it doesn't feel like a friends WhatsApp group! Love all the new thread names.. I'd be happy with any of them

Aries491 · 16/06/2021 17:43

@Peachycream exactly and if it doesn't work I'm learning about my body!

I have to agree with some comments re school, we weren't taught enough tbh, not sure what they are teaching now but I doubt it's much different!

@hrp1990 I am just taking asda pregnancy and conception vitamins, they have everything recommended in including the folic acid. They don't seem to have messed up my cycles so I'm happy with them as it goes :)

HRP1990 · 16/06/2021 17:33

@SkeletonSkins that’s hilarious 😂 all the vitamins rattling around in your stomach

HRP1990 · 16/06/2021 17:32

Just contributing towards the cervix chat 😂 @Peachycream @GingerTea333 I haven’t had a route around but I’d love to know how it should feel during your cycle!

I know mine is retroverted from having a colonoscopy and other things a few years ago. (Which means it’s tilted FYI) other than that 🤷🏻‍♀️

The satnav comment 😂😂

SkeletonSkins · 16/06/2021 17:29

@Peachycream right I have tried but it mostly always feels the same to me? Idk if I’m touching the right but though?? 😂😂😂

@GingerTea333 well done on catching your peak!! It does make you realise how inaccurate like just the apps are as it can totally vary. I sometimes wonder how often people try for months and months relying on those apps and trying at the total wrong times?

@HRP1990 I’m using conceive plus ovulation support because my cycles are shit and long and this is meant to help, and fertility support for the vitamins, I want to get an omega 3 supplement too. No idea if i recommend them though as not been taking them long 😂 I swear I rattle.

Omg I love the names so much, I think my fave is 30ish newbies witching for the best @KayL1988 although they’re all amazing!

@Peachycream I totally check the apps all day and sometimes I look at my temps for a bit or look at when I’m predicted to ovulate, no idea why 😂😂

glasspaw · 16/06/2021 17:13

@GingerTea333 I am also vegan 🌱 ☺️ Hard to do everything completely “right” but I try my best. Have you come across any good vegan pregnancy journey blogs/vlogs at all? I’ve been struggling to find any really good ones.

Peachycream · 16/06/2021 17:03

I know right? When I was having a mooch and a google I saw a bit that said about seeing it with a mirror?! How are people seeing it? Surely it’s too far inside to see without any medical equipment?! I think mine is in the same place as yours but here’s the question, does that mean it’s high? And if that’s high, where is low? Or how low is low? Apparently it moves about during your cycle but I can’t say I’ve really had any noticeable movement?

Yeah palm oil is in virtually everything isn’t it? It’s good that you’re enjoying it all, do you eat any of the meat substitutes or anything?

Yeah so much more relaxed, the BFN hasn’t really worried me as I was expecting it anyway so it’s not like I had a lot of hope to begin with this cycle. I think what’s going to stress me is missing O when oh is away, I did think about not tracking and going ignorance is bliss but I’ve decided I’m going to keep going for at least another cycle but rather than putting any pressure on it I’m really doing it for my own information ya know? Knowing more about my body and my cycle is never going to harm me. She says……..until the next one

OP posts:
GingerTea333 · 16/06/2021 16:56

Also, and I know we say this a lot, why were we never taught about this in school? Where is your cervix, what should it feel like... how is that less important than photosynthesis?

GingerTea333 · 16/06/2021 16:52

Exactly! Also, mine is (I think) further back than I was expecting. Like less straight up and more back towards my bum. But I could be poking away at the wrong thing. Could definitely do with a sat nav or some kind of probe that tells me if I’ve got the right spot!

Went vegan for a few reasons - health, moral and environment. Sometimes I do have stuff with honey in it but no actual animal products and also try to avoid palm oil - which is probably the hardest thing of all! I did it a few years ago and actually I quite enjoy it but it can make buying things and going out for dinner etc much harder. Lockdown was much easier for that with just eating at home every day and actually having time to cook!

Are you feeling more relaxed now you have taken a test even if it was BFN - just to scratch the itch?

How is everyone else doing?
