Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 6

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

Hi everyone!!! I've not posted on here in such a long time...it's so lovely that so many of you are now pregnant!

So, 7 months after my miscarriage, I have finally JUST got a BFP (wahoo, tentatively!) The only thing is, my RHR is the same as it was when I ovulated...so it basically went from 69...DROPPED...then finally rose back up to 69. Last time I got pregnant it skyrocketed (it went from 63 to 72 when I got my BFP).

I don't know what to think and I'm not really getting my hopes up. I really didn't expect to have gotten pregnant this month. Has anyone experienced this when getting their BFP or is this really uncommon?!

I started taking thyroid hormone about a month ago so it could be that that is having an impact....I also tested positive for COVID yesterday hah! Gahh!! I'm currently 13 DPO.

Huge increase in my rhr today. But I did wake up with gastro, so I'm not sure its a real increase

@Gizzy93 thank you , my rhr dropped today so I'm out 😫

Gizzy93 · 13/01/2022 19:44

@Twirlyz22 looks good to me! Fingers crossed for you!

Gizzy93 · 13/01/2022 19:43

Hello, just wanting to get some opinions.
I woke up at 3:30am for a wee (3rd morning in a row), and my temp was 36.61. I went back to sleep and woke up at 6am, and my temp was 36.91. Which one do I log?

The last two mornings when I woke up at 4, I forgot to temp. I couldn't get back to sleep so I took my temp and got up at 5, snd they were down around 36.6, give or take a couple of points.

Fingers crossed, or am I just grasping at straws and AF is on the way?

Twirlyz22 · 13/01/2022 11:46

Hello 👋 hope its OK I jump on here, I'm new to this rhr stuff and not sure what to look for! Im due my period in 6 days and looking back at previous months, my rhr has started to drop around about this time. Does it look good or is it to early to tell? Not sure how much of an increase my rhr should be. I have cramps today so I'm not very hopeful but curious as to what others think. The lowest dip at the beginning was my last period. It hasnt been this high since the first month I got my fit bit.

@gezelligheid ah fantastic! What a lovely announcement too!

I'm 9+2 today and will have my NIPT on Tues so should know the sex by the end of the month :)

RHR has been interesting so far! I think because I was ill in my TWW it went bananas high when I got pregnant. It since absolutely plummeted which worried me a bit as it happened at 5 weeks-ish and therefore way before the 7 week drop I've seen others have here. It did however stabilise to my normal LP range and has stayed ever since.

First pic shows ovulation day where the marker says 70bpm - the red dot shows when I got my BFP. Second pic just shows the big decline and then final pic is my current situation.

@GlassLily Thank you! Maybe you are right! When we conceived DD I thought I hadn't ovulated bc I didn't have my usual ovulation cramps.

Congratulations again! Did you find out the gender?

GlassLily · 08/01/2022 07:50

@LarasMama glad you are past the covid. Fingers crossed for this cycle for you! I ovulated super late (and was sick) the cycle I got pregnant with this little one - she's due in less than a month now! Maybe weird cycles are lucky cycles 🤞🤞

GlassLily · 08/01/2022 07:47

@MrTumblesEyebrows sorry for your losses. You must be so overwhelmed with grief. I can totally relate to feeling like the miscarriages have changed you, mine filled me with anger and jealousy, and of course misery - I could barely recognise myself after 3 early miscarriages in quick succession. I hope you can go easy on yourself and eventually begin to heal.

Did you have any luck last cycle in the end? I agree that 1dpo is early to get your hopes up, although for my successful pregnancy, mine went up from 4dpo. Also you're probably way ahead of me on this, but if you don't know the cause of your miscarriages, have you tried recurrent miscarriage things like low dose aspirin, pregnancy safe diet while ttc, progesterone pessaries - and also thyroid function investigation? Let me know if you need any info, I directed my rage into trying to aggressively solve the problem, which may not be a healthy way to deal with it, but I learnt some stuff along the way 😄

LarasMama · 07/01/2022 20:30

Hi all, happy nee year! How's everyone doing?
So thankfully I didn't get pregnant during covid. That would have been difficult.
So now is the cycle after covid. Unfortunately I ran out of OPKs during my fertile window and I could only go by CM. So we dtd CD10 and when I noticed EWCM yesterday on CD16. I just had OV cramps and temp rise, so I'm assuming I ovulated today on CD17. It must be somehow linked to my being sick and stressed, as I have never ovulated this late. Generally I ovulate on CD11-14.

Super curious to see what'll happen this cycle. 🤷🏻‍♀️

kitty1993 · 04/01/2022 13:42

Hi @MrTumblesEyebrows I'm really sorry to hear about your losses and that must be really hard given that your friend and you were due around the same time ❤️ make sure you give yourself time and space to grieve that lost excitement ❤️

As for RHR I know how hard it is to ignore when TTC but my advice would be to try and ignore any changes until you get to at least 7dpo (or when implantation could occur). The rise in RHR comes from progesterone initially but once hcg starts to enter your system (which happens after implantation) that's when your RHR will really start to creep up. Ill attach my chart and the arrow points to when I got my BFP (9dpo) so you'll see it's not even significantly higher than my other temps. It only started to rise after 10dpo

Good luck 🤞

Hi everyone hope you don't mind if I join.

I had my 7th miscarriage last month (also have a 16 month old, 5 before her, 2 back to back since) and it has absolutely broken me. My friend is pregnant (we were both trying and were due within 6 days of each other) and I would usually talk about this stuff with her but all I do is cry lately and I can't face talking to her about it this time. I said I wouldn't track anything this month but I'm 1dpo and my RHR is already rising so obviously I'm obsessed.

I'm really trying to not get too excited but if it doesn't work this month I'm going to stop trying all together because it's making me a horrible person to be around. PRESSURE.

gezelligheid · 18/12/2021 12:35

Nausea and sickness are kicking my arse lately. Doing the grocery shop is hell cos I can't stand to be around food, and yesterday I threw up 4 times (usually it's only once or twice per day) ...but we are at 10 weeks 5 days now and I'm feeling very very grateful even if all I do is moan about feeling so rubbish Grin

LS2020 · 18/12/2021 11:35

Agree with @Kona84 on dips, I took mine off as was stressing me out when dipping etc and I am nearly half way with everything fine so far 😊 I’m barely above my normal pre pregnancy RHR so think every woman is different!
Hope all your pregnancies are developing well ❤️

@EveryMumDay don’t feel them consistently but definitely getting stronger kicks now/ a lot more tuned into feeling them, looking forward to when it’s a bit more repetitive so I can check in on them more 😊

Kona84 · 16/12/2021 23:24

Oh my god soooo many BFPs
@Juno231 @gezelligheid sorry if I missed anyone I’m not good with names.
So nice to see all the charts.
Good luck to everyone else still waiting and I know it’s not a science but it’s pretty awesome that the RHR is quite telling.
I’m laid here listening to my 8 week old snore .
Don’t worry about dips later on pregnancy and of it stresses you too much take off the watch and enjoy.

Decaffe · 15/12/2021 11:21

Hello all! I’ve just found this thread after seeing it mentioned on another one.

I’ve been TTC for the best part of a year and at this stage I’m willing to give anything a go!

I’m checking in so I can read through later this afternoon ⌚️❤️ 📈

Is the idea that you notice a change in heart rate at ovulation and then implantation?

Beunique · 15/12/2021 10:55
@Beunique wow it looks really promising right now - aren't you tempted to test??

Had my 3+ on a digital yesterday at 5+1 so it's good to see it's progressing. If it wasn't for the test I think I'd be a bit more concerned about my RHR dropping the last few days!
Aww congratulations, it really has risen and I've done 6 early first response test they all had a grey shadow in the time frame and I did one this morning that was noticeably faint compared to the previous tests. I'm really nervous for tomorrow I really want to see the word pregnant but I don't know when to test

EveryMumDay · 15/12/2021 10:23

@Beunique that chart looks amazing look at the line shot up 😱 Definitely, take a pregnancy test tomorrow morning with fmu. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

@Juno231 congratulations so happy to hear that. It's so daunting this journey makes us to question ourselves a lot. Lovely to hear the pregnancy is progressing 🥰 Will you have a private scan at 6+4?
@Beunique if your opk positive was 2nd Dec at 81bpm then I assume it should stay or increase and not got under 81bpm?!?! I'm not sure, I've not studied the charts or know too much about them but I'm sure one of the ladies on here would be able to better enlighten you 🙂 Got my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼
I think it decreased for implantation to happen that's just my theory Hmm. It's increased today and I'm 13dpo now. Plus I would be concerned if my resting heart rate went drastically high after 81bpm so I'm assuming the body regulates itself because of the hormonal changes that may be happening

@EveryMumDay

Hey *@Beunique*. Was your positive opk on 2 Dec at 81bpm? When are you due your AF?
Yes the 81bpm and 3 days time I did take a first response but saw the faintest line
EveryMumDay · 14/12/2021 09:33

@LS2020 true when you relax then miracle happens. However, I cannot help but think the IVF injections and medication from last month could have helped this month 🤔 how are you feeling? Anymore kicks? Hope you getting plenty of rest time.

@Juno231 congratulations I'm passing the 5 week mark. I'm currently in that phase and praying I cross it too. I dread going to the toilet for a 'knicker watch' 🙈 and still very much keeping a close eye on resting heart rate too!
