After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

@LV1987 Yes, you have been remembered here too :) I'm 35, nearly 36 and very much hoping I'm not at the end of the line too Grin. I know lots of ladies who have conceived more than one child in the late 30's early 40's Smile.

I too suspect I could have some sort of PCOS (maybe borderline?) as I have high AMH levels and rubbish cycles (long in length and occasionally no ovulation at all), but I don't have any of the other symptoms. As Juno mentioned I have started taking Conceive Plus Ovulation Support and Fertility Support and my last cycle I ovulated on CD18, and on this one CD15!!

@Juno231 I had the pfizer Smile

Juno231 · 04/06/2021 14:07

@lv1987 I think cause I work in the City (of London) sooo many of my colleagues only started having kids age 38 or whatever (and still went on to have 2-3 kids) so if you said that here they'd say we're still babies with plenty of time. And remember that once you're diagnosed with eg PCOS they can tackle TTC so much more effectively (quickly!) with clomid et al. The crux is making sure they don't bat you away, stick to them like a fly to shit as my mum would say lol. We'll get there!

LV1987 · 04/06/2021 13:41

Thank you @Juno231, you don't know how much I needed to hear that today ❤️

Juno231 · 04/06/2021 13:11

@LV1987 of course we remember you - I'm sorry you're still here! And I'm sorry for the poor treatment by your docs so far - the fat excuse is ridiculous and so so lazy of them. What's the next appointment for? Keep on advocating for yourself, 34 is far from the end of the line xxx

I think @Kay00 's cycles really improved after taking the conceive plus ovulation tablets btw.

AllyCat31 · 04/06/2021 13:09

@Kay00 I got mine on Sunday, now 5 days late for LH surge. Hoping that doesn’t happen to you too!

LV1987 · 04/06/2021 12:31

Hi everyone

It's been a really, really long time since I posted, so I don't think anyone will remember me!

I'm 34, trying for my first, my OH has two boys from his first marriage. I've been off the pill since the end of 2019 and I still haven't regulated...I have a lot of markers for PCOS but am currently wading through the "it's because your fat" BS before getting a proper diagnosis.

My last hospital appointment ended with the Dr saying, "Well, your 34 now so we don't have a lot of time.". Which as you can imagine, has filled me with positivity and hope for my next appointment at the end of this month.

We've been trying for a long time now and I just feel generally disheartened by the whole thing, to the extent that I'm not even sure I can be bothered with the follow up appointments, knowing that I'm not being taken seriously 😒

Anyhoo! If anyone has managed to successfully regulate their cycles even just a little bit post-pill, I would be grateful for your suggestions - I've tried myoinositol, seed cycling, weight loss, patience, yoga, giving up alcohol, exercising more frequently, more patience and just about everything else but I am still open to suggestions!

@Juno231 I'm sorry to see that you are still trying lovely, I know it's been a long time for you too x

SkeletonSkins · 04/06/2021 12:04

@Kay00 yep that’s exactly what happens to me! I’ve got those supplements arriving today after seeing you mention them so fingers crossed they help. I already take myo-inositol but going to swap to this version of it.

Congrats on your first jab too! I’ve had both mine now through work so I’m not sure if that’s got a part to play in my cycles or they would have just been mad anyway 😂

Lovebug06 · 04/06/2021 11:59

@Kay00 I had my first jab at 11dpo last cycle. I was worried it would mess up my cycle but it came on time and the same as always.
@Tillybabs I get spots a lot. However they definately calmed down after my first year off the pill.

My opks didn't make much sense this month they have thrown me. Also don't think we dtd enough. Usually on it. Dh did fall asleep one night and usually Id get so annoyed but I just didn't. I've done everything I can for so long and it has made no difference... People also get pregnant from having sex once(lucky buggers) . Maybe there's a chance. I don't know. I've been fine, but kind of defeated by the whole thing. I feel kind of anxious about it now, but at the same time it's done, no stress, and we dtd in the fertile window enough I think. I'm kind of telling myself it's never happened when I've done it loads anyway!
So nothing new here.

Flowers222 · 04/06/2021 11:50

@ChinChilly that's wonderful news about the scan! I'm so pleased for you 😊 I have my early scan booked for tomorrow and feeling quite nervous about it.

Juno231 · 04/06/2021 11:04

@kay00 woop! which one did you get?

Kay00 · 04/06/2021 10:52

Also... just had my 1st jab 😬😁😬😁 hope it doesn't mess up my cycle too much!

Kay00 · 04/06/2021 10:52

@skeletonskins thats exactly what mu body does... I get EWCM, my cervix goes soft and high and I even get a temp increase, then it all crashes back down. I would usually get several attempts before I finally ovulated. This cycle and my previous cycle I appear to have ovulated on the first attempt however, and im putting that down to the Conceive plus tablets I'm taking.... they seem really good!

SkeletonSkins · 04/06/2021 09:39

@Kay00 yes that’s right, well I’ve had a couple of failed attempts I think, where I get EWCM and my temp rises but then it just crashes again. Temps dipped slightly today so guess we’ll see if it goes up tomorrow. Not hugely optimistic to be honest!

Juno231 · 04/06/2021 09:17

@WhirlingD I think the reason temping is deemed unreliable by the NHS is that there is a lot of scope for user error. People not understanding the impact of alcohol, too little sleep, taking inaccurate readings etc. I've seen ladies on MN using forehead temps and then getting stumped by their BBT, and my favourite - a lady who left the protective silicone cap on the thermometer and didn't realise until I pointed out that her temps were indicative of hypothermia so she must be doing something wrong lol. MOT sounds wise but skip the progesterone test I'd say. It would be good to see what your LH/FSH ratio is in case these cycles are due to pcos.

Welcome to all newbies!! As a recap - I came off the pill in Sep 2019 but settled into fairly regular cycles straight away. I did instead suffer with pizza face and greasy hair until about Dec 2020 though! I've since been diagnosed with unexplained infertility but still plodding along here as I love these gals :)

@kay00 I had mine at 7dpo last cycle - it caused me to bleed (a lot) at 10dpo and then I had AF come as usual at 13dpo. I've read random bleeds are common post jab and that even post menopausal women have gotten it.

@ChinChilly great news!! The next scan feels ages away though Grin Have you booked your booking in appointment with the midwife as well? Must be so exciting!

Kay00 · 04/06/2021 08:29

@CTMcG Welcome! You have certainly joined the right place, there are many many of us who had frustratingly long cycles!

@SkeletonSkins The blood could be ovulation spotting, or just some random spotting (I get this, its called cervical erosion, and I don't think its anything to worry about). You said you are temping and you had a failed ovulation attempt about 2 weeks ago, but didn't get a temp increase? Is that right?

CTMcG · 04/06/2021 07:32

No sign of bfp that was meant to say!

CTMcG · 04/06/2021 07:31

Hi everyone! I hope you don’t mind me gate crashing - old fashioned for me please!! Or just a whiskey neat at this rate!!

I came off the pill in December a few weeks after i got married. Dh and i werent planning to start trying to next year but as someone with pcos and being on the pill for 12ish years, i decided to come off it and get to know my cycles before ttc!

My cycles so far have been 45, 42 & 34. This cycle we decided to start ttc and not wait to next year. I am now on day 45 of this cycle! That last cycle at 34 days gave me false hope for this first month ttc#1! I am so frustrated! No bfn or sign of af!!

SkeletonSkins · 03/06/2021 23:45

I should add we’re not trying until the next cycle due to work/Mat pay issues so either way it doesn’t really matter, I think I’d just rather ovulate if possible as I know I’ll worry I’m never going to ovulate again if I don’t this month, with having PCOS too.

SkeletonSkins · 03/06/2021 23:44

@ChinChilly I recognise your name from stalking this thread before I joined and jsut wanted to say congratulations, so amazing that you’ve seen the heartbeat!

No idea what’s going on with my body. Just been to the loo and there was blood - not tons but not tiny amounts either. TMI but it was almost mixed in with EWCM which makes me wonder if it’s ovulation? But I do feel quite periody and I didn’t have ovulation pain/blood in the past two cycles. I ovulated around this day (cycle day 40) in my previous two cycles so either I’m sticking to that pattern or my body’s thought forget it and AF is abojt to arrive without an ovulation. I did have what I think was a failed attempt at ovulation around 14 days ago so who knows what’s going on.

MissM94 · 03/06/2021 23:43

Don't know where else to post this but why do some threads start off with "I've named changed" what does it matter and why do they need to tell us? Haha I'm so confused

Moocher90 · 03/06/2021 23:39

@chinchilly great news on the private scan wishing u all the best! Make sure you keep us updated x

MissM94 · 03/06/2021 23:38

@ChinChilly that's amazing! Very happy for you 😍

@Kay00 I had my first Pfizer jab in February and it didn't do anything to my cycle, had my second one in May, was due on on Tuesday 4th May, had the jab Wednesday 5th of may and haven't been on my period since 🙃 don't know if it's just coincidence or if it genuinely has affected my cycle. My first dose was on 17/02 and came on my period 2/3 and that cycle was a standard 35 day one.. so god knows haha

Kay00 · 03/06/2021 23:06

Hi ladies, I'm getting my 1st jab tomorrow (Friday) and I'll be in my TWW (4dpo).

Has anyone else had their jab in the TWW? If so, how did it effect your cycle (if at all)?

JoeMalon3y · 03/06/2021 22:49

I haven't even had a withdrawal bleed yet so I have no idea...I'm hoping sooner rather than later so I can figure out the cycle tracking side of things 😂 @Sunshine8888 I feel wayyyyy out if my depth with this all...My OH thinks babies come out thin air by the way he talks about it all.

Kay00 · 03/06/2021 21:49

Awww congrats @Chinchilly that's lovely news 🥰
