After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

Hello ladies, I had my HyCoSy this morning, here is a write up of my experience:

I was encouraged to empty my bladder before I went in, and the nurse made me comfortable before my consultant explained my previously high AMH result to me (64 pmol/L). She said it was unusually high and indicated that I had A LOT of eggs in there. She suspected at this stage that I have not actually been ovulating at all Sad. My other results (Prolactin, FSH, LT, Testosterone etc) were normal, so she said they indicated that I didn't have PCOS.

The started with the ultrasound scan of my ovaries. And straight away she found my left ovary was enlarged and poly cystic (13 follicles), my right ovary was borderline (10 follicles). She re-confirmed that she thinks this + my high AMH levels + my wonky/long cycles means I have probably not been ovulating.

Then I needed another wee (full bladder was getting in the way). Speculum went in (uncomfortable, but none more so than a Smear). The catheter I didn't feel, but the expanding of the balloon was pretty painful, like sever period cramps. Once in though it got a little easier to manage and the consultant and nurse did lots to make me feel calm. She injected the foam and we all watched the shoot up my fallopian tubes. They are both open and no blockages to be seen.

As soon as it was over I went for my third wee Grin which raised a few eyebrows lol. And the consultant came back in to chat. She said that I have PCOS and has given me some leaflets. She said she will happily prescribe me Metformin, and I need to think about whether its right for me. And she said in our follow up consultation she will offer me Clomid.

The other good news is that my OH's SA was all good. He has been sent the results (which we will look at together over lunch) but she said to be 'in broad terms, there is nothing to worry about there' - yey!

@Juno231 It says if you've been employed more than 6 months by the time of your 15th week before expected due date you're entitled to full mat pay (took a while to get my brain around it!)

@Lovebug06 is private not an option for you I take it? I see ladies on here even putting it on 0% credit cards and spreading the cost over 1-2 years. Likewise places like Copenhagen and Prague are much much cheaper with excellent IVF facilities. Reprofit in particular is meant to be good/popular. Where it would cost £5-6k in the UK for a cycle it's 2.5k there. Flights tend to be dirt cheap and so is the airbnb.

Lovebug06 · 22/06/2021 10:12

Hi all,

Sorry I keep disapearing.

At my stage of cycle 19 I know that I will probably end up needing IVF.
I gather this by others around the same as me being offered it.

However there is no funding for IVF in my area.
So I have been worrying about this a lot the last few days. Because if that's what i need, then what hope do I have?

Not meaning to be negative, i had a good weekend, its just playing on my mind and bothering me a lot, because I will not get IVF, I've been told this as well.

I will read and update x

Juno231 · 22/06/2021 09:14

@CaptainGT buy whichever ones you want to use and they tell you in the instructions when to start testing. It's based on the length of your cycle to try and start a few days before your FW just in case you ovulate early that cycle. Personally I start using them around CD9-10.

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow gah not a clue - but that shows how keen I am to leave. My current place pays for 26 weeks but I'm seriously willing to forego that. It helps that my new offer is a decent uplift though! I ignore watery CM if I've been DTD as I assume that's leftovers. EWCM is still easy to spot though I think!

@MissC07 so is the policy saying you have to have been there for a year by the time you get to the qualifying week?

Kat668 · 21/06/2021 19:31

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow luckily he doesn't have to so he's been able to go to work :) sounds like you've got good coverage! Honestly I can never tell the difference between EWCM and leftovers 😂

My pain has now moved round to front right abdomen. It's now consistent which is really annoying. At least before it was only when I went to the loo! Though this is maybe getting my hopes up too much that it's implantation as feels quite similar to period pains? I forgot to mention earlier I've also had a nasal cold and I heard stories of other people getting colds around implantation. Argh gotta stop getting my hopes up.

MissC07 · 21/06/2021 19:28

@Juno231 I hope the negotiations went well!

@WhirlingD I'm so sorry you're going through a tough time.

@CaptainGT I don't start using them until about CD12 and only do it once a day. But way back when I first started I was dehydrating myself and doing it 3 of 3 times a day 🙈

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow mat pay at my new place is 6 months full pay! I have to have been there 6 months before being entitled to it. Which is fine by me. I'm sort of at peace now with the fact we'll be waiting another year (if I'm lucky enough to conceive naturally)

OP posts:
Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 21/06/2021 18:46

@WhirlingD oh no, I'm so sorry. Hopefully it's just a dodgy result, but if not at least you can start thinking about what options you would consider.

Does the new job have decent maternity package @Juno231? How long will you need to be there before eligible @juno232 and @missc07?

@Kat668 ugh self isolation is awful, sorry its come at such a rubbish time too! Is your husband isolating too or just you? Hopefully your signs are positive though!

@CaptainGT I'm a newbie so not the best to advise on opks. I was doing 1 a day from around cd7, then more frequent when my cm looks fertile. I haven't done any this cycle yet though because I've ran out and not got any being delivered till Wednesday morning.

Currently cd10, femometer says I will ovulate in 3 days based on last cycle. TMI but how do you tell between cm and 'leftovers' from DTD? Can't tell if ewcm or just leftovers 🙈. I'm thinking watery cm because that's more frequent than the ewcm type stuff. So far we have been dtd every other day since AF ended so hopefully well covered if I do ovulate soon.

CaptainGT · 21/06/2021 17:03

Another BFN today. Still waiting on AF.

Have been keeping things fairly light and casual in approach to everything, guessing ovulation and trying to train the app with some data on cycle length.

I am going to start using ovulation sticks... some advice please ladies, do you have to use them everyday?!? or just in the likely window of your cycle, in which case how early do I start using them? right after period?

WhirlingD · 21/06/2021 11:05

@Kay00 @Juno231 thank you so much. trying not to think about it until I get the AMH but I think I'd be ok with donor eggs. I have a doctors appt for Wednesday. I've been too much of a wimp to call up and see if the results are in already. I think I'll do that today because I'm in the office on Wednesday and I think I'd rather people didn't see me upset. I sort of just feel a bit numb at the moment. Kicking myself for not freezing my eggs 2 years ago when I was getting divorced and all seemed to be functioning normally. How fucking unlucky that it all goes downhill in 2 years. Probably all hidden by the pill.

Kat668 · 21/06/2021 10:59

@WhirlingD I'm so sorry to hear that, sending lots of virtual hugs x

Kay00 · 21/06/2021 10:19

@WhirlingD big hand hold xxx Hoping there is still a chance for you to conceive naturally, do you know of any treatments that can help?

Juno231 · 21/06/2021 10:09

@WhirlingD oh crap. Big hugs to you, that must be a right mind f**k. Any idea what you'll do? Donor eggs would still be highly effective but that's not for everyone :/

WhirlingD · 21/06/2021 09:17

@MissC07 I'm on same CD as you. My chart is absolutely terrible. It depresses me so much I can't look at it. I've had a pretty bad few days. My blood tests suggests I'm perimenopausal (FSH77; i thought it was a typo at first) so I've been pretty depressed and been in a tailspin. I'm only 38. My body is just evil because I had 3 days of EWCM after the doctor called. Pre-pill levels!!! Couldn't believe it. Literally no idea what's going on. Still waiting for AMH results for the final nail in the coffin then I'll need to decide on next steps. I suppose it's just possible it's still a hangover from the pill but I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst. Never in a million years thought I'd be here.

Juno231 · 21/06/2021 09:06

@MissC07 @TheDaydreamBelievers yikes to the length of those charts! Why can't our bodies ever seem to play ball.

@missc07 I haven't resigned yet - I'm going to try and negotiate a bit more money first I think!

@Kat668 nothing good comes out of symptom spotting but I do hope you're on to something!

10DPO and my temp has been unusually low this TWW - and today it dropped to the cover line already. It's making me wonder if I'll even make it to my normal 12 day LP!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/06/2021 07:33

I feel you @MissC07 - look at this total bullshit chart!

MissC07 · 21/06/2021 07:27

@Juno231 Honestly was really scary doing it with no job lined up, but because I have a 2 month notice period I had time on my side. I definitely think it's affected my cycle this month though (not that I was ever regular anyway) - chart below for loling at....! Have you resigned from your current role?

Kat668 · 20/06/2021 21:55

Thank you @Juno231 yeah it really did :(

These may be completely unrelated but I had a stitch type pain on my left lower abdomen on 5DPO and then yesterday and today been struggling with (sorry for tmi) a really bad pain when trying to do a number 2 in my right back just at waist level. This has caused or is caused by constipation. I know I'm probably getting my hopes up that these are signs ha ha!

Juno231 · 20/06/2021 21:44

@Kat668 yeah if you ovulated later then AF would wee later too :) and in terms of testing - I'd hold off until 10-11dpo at least for a CB digi! Sorry to hear about the self isolation, sounds like it came at a particularly rubbish time!!

@MissC07 ooh I forgot /didn't realise! How gutsy of you - has it been stressful up until the offer?

Kat668 · 20/06/2021 21:16

@MissC07 and @Juno231 huge congrats on the new jobs!

Hope everyone is well and enjoyed the weekend! I'm in a bit of low period right now :( got a notification that I had to isolate due to coming in contact with someone who tested positive, so even though I then tested negative I had to miss my sister in law's hen party. To top it off it's also come during my TWW so I am getting so bored and literally have nothing to take my mind off it! Trying so hard not to test as it's far to early. If the CB OPKs were right then I'm either 7/8dpo. My last cycle was only 26 days so according my app its predicting AF on Wednesday (typically my first day back in the office!). But as I ovulated on CD16/17 I'm not sure whether AF will show later? So confused on when to test. I have one CB Digital early response which says it can be used up to 6 days before missed AF.

Sorry for the long rant/message 😅 DH is getting a bit bored of me talking about it all the time as he says there's nothing he can say that he hasn't already lol

CharWils · 20/06/2021 09:12

Thankyou @Kay00 and @Juno231 I will try to chill out a bit!

Congrats on the job @Juno231 xx

MissC07 · 19/06/2021 21:53

@Kay00 thank you!! Hope you are doing well ❤️

@Juno231 I actually resigned late May (without another job 😬) as I hated it so much and was praying something would work out. I have two other final interviews on Monday too but I think I'm going to cancel them as I really like the place that have offered to me.

OP posts:
Juno231 · 19/06/2021 20:01

@CharWils I agree that cd11 is super early! No need to panic just yet.

@MissC07 oh so did you resign on Friday as well?

Kay00 · 19/06/2021 19:46

@juno231 @missc07 Yey! Congrats on the new jobs! Maybe a break from ttc will be good for the old mental health, esp. as it means you'll be in better jobs when you start trying again too 😊

@CharWils CD11 us still super early, so you still have plenty if time to ovulate. The average day is CD15 but its not unusual for us all to have wonky cycles, i'd like to advise you to relax, but its easier said than done 😅

MissC07 · 19/06/2021 19:23

@Juno231 congrats on the new job!!! Luckily i'm already working my notice so my last day is late July. My new place had 6 months full pay for mat too so I'll definitely be waiting! I'm kind of at peace with it now though as I know I need to be happier in myself first before TTC.

@mrsmacmc congrats on your new job too!!
