Hester - huge, huge, massive congratulations - thats wonderful news. Take good care of yourself.

hester · 11/11/2004 09:36

The first thing I want to say is that you are all completely lovely, generous women, and you have been so much support for me. Thank you. Do you mind if I hang around on the thread awhile? I promise to sprinkle lots and lots of babydust around

The second thing is for jeddah, who has been like my compatriot on this thread because of us being the same age and in the same situation; jeds, I was aware of being rather scared that you would get pg first, and leave me as the oldie broodie on this thread. Now it's you in that position and I hope it feels OK. I feel completely amazed that I have got a BFP but as my partner keeps reminding me, most women our age CAN get pg, we just have to be patient as it takes a little longer (or at lot longer, in my case). I really, really look forward to you and I storming the 'due in' threads like a pair of hell's grannies and {{hugs}}

runtus · 11/11/2004 09:32

ROFL!!!!!

runtus · 11/11/2004 09:31

Huge congrats - you so deserve it after 5 years ttc! Keep safe honey.........

hester · 11/11/2004 09:30

Thank you all for being so lovely - specially yinger for being so generous on a morning when you must be feeling a bit fragile.

OK, so here are the headlines: last week I was absolutely convinced I was premenstrual (some of you probably remember me kvetching). I had cramps and felt totally hormonal, tense, weepy, ratty. I had no pg symptoms AT ALL. Over the weekend I started feeling a little sick, but nothing unusual. Monday was my due date and I started feeling definitely nauseous. Of course I immediately started this dialogue in my head, 'I could be pregnant!' versus 'Don't be stupid, you've probably just snaffled down too much chocolate - you can't possibly be pg, you barren premenstrual old witch'. Tuesday morning I knew I would start driving myself crazy if I didn't see a BFN, so I tested. Went and lay on my hotel bed (I was at a residential conference) and lay there for ages, thinking I couldn't bear to check the test and that my heart would break if I had to see one more BFN after the dozens I have had in my time.

Then I went and looked, and was completely stunned to see a pale pink line...

Had to spend the next two days in residential conference wanting to scream at people, 'I'm having a miracle baby! Kneel and worship!' but of course having to pretend I was totally interested in other things.

Am now feeling:

sick
tired
excited
unreal
dazed
scared that I will miscarry
so, so happy that I have taken the first step to becoming a mother
thrilled to know that I am fertile, despite complete absence of EWCM and rapidly advancing years

There's two more things I want to say that this thread is getting embarrassingly long so will do so in next post...

yingers74 · 11/11/2004 09:21

I meant to say congrats not well done!!! God it must be living with a teacher rubbing off on me!!!

yingers74 · 11/11/2004 09:20

Ooh, I meant BFP of course

hester · 11/11/2004 09:07

Minnie! - so glad you're there, I'm bursting!

Yes, yes, yes, I finally got that BFN - I'm pregnant!!!

I'm still completely stunned; can't get my head round it at all. I found out at this residential conference and it was really weird having to keep it all to myself, when I wanted to dance up and down the room.

I really never thought it would happen - I am 40 and have been trying to have a baby for five years, on and off. I had given myself another three months and then I was going to stop inseminating. So this feels like a miracle. Please, please pray for me that this pregnancy is viable - I know all pregnancies are precious but this feels so much like my last chance of becoming a mother.

MINNIE1 · 11/11/2004 09:04

Alterego - might sound dumb but how does the persona know what day you are on etc.. if you don't pee on it every day?? also do you have to leave it on all the time. (mine's not arrived yet)

Tania2 · 10/11/2004 21:02

Good morning girls, Had a better night with ds last night he woke at 3ish i went in there he layed back down and went straight to sleep not even a tear then he woke at 6ish and asked for some milk i gave him just a mouth full and then again went straight back to sleep till 7:30 then when i got him out of his cot he walked straight into our room climbed on our bed and is still there now (maybe asleep). so much better than the other nights now i will attempt to get rid of the milk for the next couple of nights. wish me luck!!!

friday rudy? I'm very jealous! well i'll look out for your news then, if you get a bfp i'll take that as a good omen. no more symptoms here they all seem to have subsided, except an enomous zit has appeared on my chin, lovely! it is probably a pre-af thing though
