Talk sense into me...seriously losing the plot!Help!

We were supposed to wait a few months to ttc. I decided to track my cycles, as I havent tried to conceive for a few years and wanted to get to know my fertile days.

I had a positive opk on the 27th and it must have gone to my head, because we had sex that night and definitely didn't prevent. A few hours before, I felt something go 'pop pop pop' in my left ovary area (I always feel ovulation). I was out for a walk as I felt it, and the evening sky was so beautiful and I felt all misty eyed about creation. Everything inside me was telling me to go for it, so we did 🙈

The next day I had that feeling of panic, like 'what have I done!' 😄. Then that was replaced by an unbelievable sense of giddiness and excitement to the point I started wondering if I was going to have some kind of reverse panic attack! Honestly, I was so excited that I was nearly sick! I am a 38 year old grown up!

You see, I had thought that ttc was off the cards as my husband didnt want any more kids, but he recently changed his mind out of the blue, to my complete delight, so it's like a dream that I am able to consider another.

The problem: I am absolutely convinced that I am pregnant, or that I will be in a few days when the egg implants. The thought that I am not pregnant seems impossible. The day that I conceived I wrote in my ovulation app 'diary' that I knew it would happen that night. (I just read this back to myself and noticed how I said 'conceived', not 'had sex').

I keep wanting to tell people I'm pregnant, including my boss (to help make decisions about staffing allocations). I just had sex a few days ago! Oh, and it's a boy, as if I'm not being ridiculous enough! I have even named him!

This is totally ridiculous! There is only a 20% chance of conception each month I think, and I am sure that decreases with age. This is our first month trying! There is every reason that I will not be pregnant!

I am constantly going around with a horrible sense of giddiness and excitement that is not congruent with reality and is actually physically uncomfortable. I feel like jumping up and down and squealing with joy at many points throughout the day.

Does anyone else feel like this? I am normally a very stable, pragmatic and generally realistic (possibly overly hopeful at times) person and this is totally bonkers to me! Please, can anyone relate? Or can a very sensible mumsnetter come along and give me a stern deflation?

I actually feel like I can't do another week of this. I have felt excited to the point that I wonder will I actually faint! Smelling salts anyone????

Help!

(If, by the reasonably high chance that I am NOT pregnant, I will update this thread for any other ladies going totally bonkers to help them get a grip of themselves too! Even when I was typing that, I was saying to myself 'yeah right, as if I'm not pregnant!'.

@Anonapapple I’m so sorry, I’ve only just seen your message about whether or not I tested earlier than my 8dpo bfp.

Yes I absolutely did 🙈 I started at about 4dpo! I have no willpower whatsoever.

I saw no hint of anything until my bfp at 8dpo. It was faint but there. By the evening it was clearer. I did find all my tests were better and clearer in the afternoon/evening rather than fmu though.

Sorry replying quickly in work. My bfn may be because it's too early or that theres nothing in there 😄 I got that 'pregnant'cold sweat again earlier, but it could just be hunger! Still have the weird cm. The next week few days will hopefully tell.

@Anonapapple yep just supposed to be a line. It's a clearblue test so I double checked the instructions about 10 times 😂 but i'm in Spain, so I guess the tests are a bit different here

@hewegoagain oh my gosh! I've never used this type of test before! I'm right in thinking the test box is not meant to be a + sign? That a line is positive? Cus there is a big old line there!!!!!

I tested again this morning and the line is stronger - wow. I would be much more excited if I didn't feel absolutely rough, headaches, nausea, fatigue and dizziness...all good signs but I do wish I could hand over to DH this time round 😩 I am going to be handing over all my chores this weekend, that's for sure!

This is positive right? I'm not imagining it? 😅 line was mish stronger with DS, but I think I tested later. My hands are shaking, I think i'm in shock

Tested with fmu. Stark, cold, icy white bfn. 10dpo, and I was already positive by now with my other two kids.

Maybe this really was all my head!

@hewegoagain definitely sounds so promising.! Please let us know when you find out! I've never done tempting but seems like it gives a bit of a glimpse into what's happening inside!

Does anyone know how soon after implantation cramps you can test? Is the 48 hours from the first day of cramping or the last?

@Anonapapple started feeling a bit nauseous this afternoon. Boobs have been really sore for about 2 weeks but less so today. Temp still running high. Feeling crampy and icky (if that makes sense lol).

Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning 🤞 although only our first cycle ttc so i'm teying not to let my hopes get up x

Gah now I'm feeling a weird hardening sensation, like Braxton Hicks in late pregnancy. Does anyone know that tightening feeling?

With my DC, I wasnt expecting BFPs and got them early. Now I'm convinced I'm pregnant and getting nada. Come ON! 🙈

@hewegoagain ooh exciting! I read recently that the day of the first full bleed is Day 1, but have also read that any sight of blood is Day 1! Have you had any other symptoms? I'm not actually due for another 7 days according to my app but I do think I ovulated Day 1 2.

I ordered loads of ic tests online and made a dent in them after work 😁 all bfn. Not even seeing 'mind lines' anymore. Think I am coming round to your way if thinking: wait until af is due! Definitely had an actual cramp there, bit like a very early contraction. Maybe my body is just changing because I'm gettting older. If the bfn hadnt all deflated me, I would still say I'm pregnant.

Was thinking earlier how Meghan and Harry's new baby will just be a few months older than mine and had to shout at myself that I'm a bloody deluded idiot! Some people in work were talking to me about some plans that I am part of for next year and I felt really bad thinking, 'little do they know I'll not be there!'

I would say "get a life" to myself, but I am a very busy lady yet the past 9 days have been spent looking whimsically at cloud formations, thinking about my new baby being part of the universe and just stopping mid sentence to gaze into the middle distance, remembering the sensation of the first latch right after birth. Our kitchen floor is filthy and I need to screw a new mop head onto the stick thing, and I just can't bring myself to do it when I can google cervical mucus. I even did an image search.

What is happening to me?!

@Anonapapple my local pharmacy didn't have any tests this morning (and supermarkets where I am don't carry them), my lovely pharmacist is getting some in this afternoon for me. Soooo will be testing first thing tomorrow morning.

I've been feeling quite tight and heavy as well, but I normally only get cramps when my period is actually here. I had some light spotting at the beginning of my last period which I'm never sure whether to count as period or just spotting. If I count it as period then I should have started today, if not then tomorrow.

Just my luck I'll get a test and then come on overnight 😅

@hewegoagain haha it must be! Seriously though, what time are you testing tomorrow? No pressure 😄

I am one of the lucky ones who dont suffer too badly during my period. I get a bit weepy and have a warm, tight sensation in my uterus that generally arent painful.

Today I have been having a similar sensation, but stronger. It feels like I am about to have my period any second but it's not due for a week. I'm having definite tightenings. If it is going to come, I wish it would hurry up and stop confusing me. My body feels so weird!

@Mishmased thank you. I will test again tomorrow and every day until I get my period or a positive!

@Mumbot345635 I can empathise. I filled an entire bin with old negative tests that I have been hoarding from many cycles where I wondered if maybe a condom had broke or something else had gone 'wrong'. I actually adore peeing on sticks but it was a bit cringey when I saw just how much! I really hope you get your bfp!

@hewegoagain yay, our 'babies' will both be born in January!! Hope your period stays away tomorrow! Please, please keep us updated. Would love to add another cheeky little BFP to the thread!

@Puntastic that's interesting and also true for me. I knew one of my children was a boy as soon as I saw those pink lines. With my daughter I wasnt sure but i was aware of the fact that I wasnt sure, in that it was so different with my son!

I had that weird cm again today, that I had two days ago. It's really a first for me: thick, yellow and gobby! Kind of like custard? Hope no one is eating custard. Sorry.

I am sure I will be enthralling you all with my pathetic musings later! Thanks for humouring me everyone. If my period does arrive, I will never believe any kind of intuition or physical symptom again. I couldnt physically feel more pregnant at this stage (3.5 weeks potentially), so hopefully this will serve as a reminder the next time I get ahead of myself! Feelings arent facts!

However, I'm sneezing so obviously pregnant!

@hewegoagain oh my date would be 17th January.. and as fate would have it, my DD’s original due date was.. January 17th 2020, however due to IUGR she made her appearance on New Year’s Eve 2019!

WRT knowing the sex, I googled this last time around- studies have shown that women who 'know' the sex before it can be observed are correct... 50% of the time. I was wrong the first time and right the second, so that tracks for me. 😂
