I've just started acupuncture and am two sessions in. Was wondering if anyone had any experiences on it they could share, and how long its worth continuing it for?

Ladies, when you started acupuncture, did you get cramps and feel nauseous around ovulation? I'm feeling it this cycle, I'm ovulating today and feeling quite nauseous. Also ovulation came early for me CD19 compared to cd24 last cycle so a combination of soy/acupuncture is definitely working!

Thanks for the good wishes @beckyCarlos and @Loops01!

@choccrumpet good to know! Will try it and see what it's like. A stronger reading would be better since last 2 months the lines are the same and not really that different!

choccrumpet · 30/05/2021 13:05

@Loops01 that's so strange. Maybe you should keep testing in case it's quite late? I've also tried soy, this is my second cycle taking it. I ovulated cd25 last cycle so it was even later than normal. This cycle it's on its way to being earlier, currently on CD17 so hopefully mid next week. It's still late in a cycle but normalish for me. My OPK is at .6 today so it's finally starting to get darker. I might get a high tomorrow and a peak day after maybe, or a few days of highs before a peak.

Don't think the soy works that well for me as I hard fairly normal cycles, they were just a bit long and lots of waiting around but it does give me a stronger OPK reading and I know it's helped lots others like @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 !

beckyCarlos · 30/05/2021 12:12

Oooh fingers crossed!!! X

Loops01 · 30/05/2021 11:27

Oooh fingers crossed for you!! @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 30/05/2021 10:47

@loops re soy isoflavones, @choccrumpet and I have both tried those. For me my ovulation was CD14 on both cycles. Without it, it was CD17 this cycle and CDs 20+ the couple months previous.

I actually had a positive pregnancy test, but it's before my periods due so just waiting. If this doesn't work out though, I'd do soy and acupuncture again. In fact I'll continue acupuncture regardless

Loops01 · 30/05/2021 10:07

How are your tests looking now @choccrumpet? Are you nearing peak?

I think I'm going to try spy isoflavones for the next few cycles to see if that might help. I've decided I'm not going to change my day 21 bloods as I actually have no idea when I ovulated and don't think I did so I'm hoping they will allow me to have it done again in july when my next cycle is.

Attached my tests. The 0.6 one that it is saying as peak also scanned as 0.4 below it so I don't know which one is correct. My cycle has never been like this before. Last month obviously I couldn't test fully due to a work trip but I truly think the last 2 cycles I haven't ovulated at all. Don't know why or how to sort it. Still getting the same cm pattern and cervix changes to suggest my body is preparing but I don't think any egg is being released 🤷‍♀️.

@choccrumpet that's very encouraging!!!

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 28/05/2021 22:07

@Loops01 maybe your body tried to ovulate and it didn't work and will hopefully try again? I know how frustrating it can be, do what you can to keep yourself okay mentally. I didn't actually know that either but it makes sense. Oh sorry, it could be that or like @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 said could be for it's own reasons or no reason and just a few off cycles. I've got my fingers crossed for you!

I doubt it will happen anytime, I think it'll take a few days but I'll take it over cd24 but if it is that late then it's late again and it's just how it is and I can deal with it 🤗 BUT something is working, it's quite early for me to have this much ewcm

Loops01 · 28/05/2021 22:01

Thanks @choccrumpet. It went up to 0.4 earlier. I have lots of ewcm about 4 or 5 days ago. I was all confused as I thought that meant ovulation but apparently you can have that and not ovulate! It's your body preparing for ovulation but doesn't guarantee an egg release or having released. That bummed me out. No covid, just the vaccine but yeah I will blame that for these 2 messy cycles! Cd15 instead of cd24 sounds really good! Everything crossed for you!!

choccrumpet · 28/05/2021 21:51

@Loops01 I know how frustrating that can be. Hang on in there. Trust that your body knows what it's doing. I'm hoping your OPKs start rising, although mine can go from very little to a peak the next day so maybe that will be the case with you 🤞🏼also if you've had covid then it may well be that still affecting you.

I'm cd15 and have lots of ewcm, quite earlier than normal so am hoping ovulation is a few days away. Last cycle it was cd24. Acupuncture and soy potentially helping this cycle 🤞🏼

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 28/05/2021 10:24

Might be a weird late one, unexplained. Very frustrating though!

OP posts:
Loops01 · 28/05/2021 10:15

Cd17 now and 0.3 still. Never been this lately for ovulation. With this issue and last cycle being late I'm just done really. It was all fine and normal for ages and now this? Don't know why. Covid is the only real negative change I've had. Diet etc has all been perfect. 🤷‍♀️. Would have thought accupuncture would have helped but not sure. It helped with stress last month anyway.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 28/05/2021 09:05

@Loops01 what CD are you? Yep it's so annoying when ovulation is late, I had that this month too. Felt like a month of a lot of effort

OP posts:
Loops01 · 27/05/2021 20:03

I'm trying fertilily but this month but ovulation hasn't really happened again for some reason. Or it's late. God knows. I'm giving up!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/05/2021 19:55

@Loops01 that must be really tough. I don't know, I don't know if it'll be wasting money if she's saying your cycle is already great and you've no issues. Is there anything else you're thinking of trying?

OP posts:
Loops01 · 27/05/2021 16:15

Yup he has above average sperm and does nothing haha. Generally his diet etc are good but he hasn't changed really anything apart from me forcing to take his daily vits!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/05/2021 16:11

@Loops01 out of interest have you tested for male factor, is all okay there?

OP posts:
Loops01 · 27/05/2021 15:14

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it's funny you say that she said that cos my one was confused that I'm not pregnant and never have been, have a good cycle length, no pain in ANY WAY apart from odd bloat on day 1 and 'normal' red blood and been off pill for 2 years. She's actually said that there's not much she can do for me and I'm now monthly but it's not full fertility stuff so not sure whether to find someone else who specialises in it but doesn't seem to be anyone really up my way. 🤷‍♀️. All outta hope!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/05/2021 14:53

@choccrumpet oh fingers crossed if you can get some through work!

Yes bank accounts will be healthier, although I still reckon I'd continue through 1st trimester if it works, so maybe not!

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 27/05/2021 14:25

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's amazing progress! I'm trying to expense some of mine through work and it would help massively if they accept them. My next one should be after ovulation so in total 3 maybe 4 in this cycle. Sticking to weekly ish for now. Our bank accounts will be relieved for us to get sticky positives 😅🤞🏼

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/05/2021 14:09

I think this is either my 5th or 6th session, and now I'm down to twice a month after this rather than weekly. Phew cos it was getting expensive! I am just starting to relax in the sessions though, felt all floaty and chilled today. Had a lot of needles everywhere and some points really ached

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 27/05/2021 13:14

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yay progress! How many sessions have you had now? I feel like I have to check in with mine as well and ask about what she's doing as she's not telling me automatically and I want to know 😅

choccrumpet · 27/05/2021 13:13

@beckyCarlos I can definitely relate to you! Me and my mum never have either / I never questioned getting bad cramps and just dealt with it with painkillers. I now wish I actually took time off school/ work when it did get bad because I don't think it's right to persevere through it if it's hurting so much and pretending like I'm okay when I could have had the option of taking time off. I know not everyone would agree with this but it's how I personally feel about this.

That's not right what happened to you either! That's insane and nobody thought to question it.. like @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 mentioned magazines and culture normalised this sort of thing. It's not right at all! And I hope I pass on this to my kids as well, everything to do with ttcing and talking about miscarriages as well with friends
