I've had both my jabs, I did do a pregnancy test before the second one as I stopped taking the pill between my first and second jab, so wanted to be sure I wasn't preggo before having it, IYSWIM.

I think the risks from Covid whilst pregnant have to be considered aleo and it is a very personal decision.

I personally felt that I would be happier having had the vaccine pre-pregnancy if able especially when the evidence about issues with fertility appears to be a lot of guff (unless anyone has research to suggest otherwise?! )

I suspect part of the issue is that changes in the evidence base arent being communicated down to the people administering the vaccine, so they are all.still sitting with the cautious message?

@Lovebug06 this happened to me! When I was having the injection the woman asked me if I was planning to start trying so I said yeah and she said she recommends waiting until 12 weeks after the jab so I thought that was a bit strange considering there's a second dose so I double checked with my friend who's a receptionist at the doctors (told her to speak to their nurse) and she confirmed what she had said but said that nurse recommends waiting 12 weeks after the second jab! But she also said there has been unplanned pregnancies since having the jab and it's been okay! X

I wish I could find and share a video I watched about the vaccine and fertility as it was so informative and really put my mind at ease about having the vaccine while TTC. Essentially the risks of getting covid when pregnant is so much worse that any that the vaccine might have, so they heavily recommended getting the jab. Also they said the narcolepsy thing was disproven.

I think I will still take it, it just totally threw me!
Although seeing as I will be going to the place that has just told me I shouldn't have it seems odd.
I was set on it after reading up on it, hearing other people's views and especially the fact the NHS website says so.
But then ringing up to double check for reassurance has done the opposite of that 😐
I'm not sure who it was. The person who answered the phone said no, so I said are you sure because the NHS website now says it's fine. So he said he would go and ask a clinician (I think that's what he said) I heard muffled talking then came back and repeated no, it is their guidelines not to have it if trying. Totally confused by it as its also obviously NHS and surely they should all be going by the same rules. And there must be other women going in there asking this. Then they wonder why young women aren't having it

No wonder people are confused!

@TheDaydreamBelievers all the conflicting information really doesn’t help people, especially when it’s coming from some trained medical professionals. Most of my family have had the vaccine, and as @Juno231 said if these vaccine passports come in people are not really going to have much choice...all my OHs family live abroad and if that becomes a requirement to travel then we will both have to have it.

@Willo95 I wouldn’t worry too much, sounds pretty normal but always give your GP a call if you’re worried.

@ChinChilly totally understand what you mean. It's hard not to think about the cases of narcolepsy off the back of the swine flu vaccine...

@Juno231 someone outdid me at 145 to my 141 days! Cant remember who though.

By the way that last paragraph wasn’t any sort of encouragement for anyone not to have the vaccine, just to show your not on your own if you’re worried about having it!

@kay00 I'm so pleased your referral came through so quickly! 9th of May is no time at all - let's get that ball rolling!! I'm also glad they're being thorough on the inflammation side of things - let's hope they get to the bottom of it.

@Lovebug06 haha they don't help themselves do they! Up to you then, but personally I'd take it. Especially if vaccine passports get introduced.

@Willo95 welcome! I know what you wrote feels very frustrating and potentially worrying but trust us when we say it's normal! We've had quite a few ladies on here with wonky/long cycles after the pill. I think @TheDaydreamBelievers holds our record with 140+ days of no period after coming off the pill? It can just take a while for some to get back to normal after it. We're here for you though with whatever questions you may have!

@Lovebug06 you’re not the first person I’ve heard that from...one of the women I work with said her niece went for hers at her GP surgery and the doctor asked her if she was sure she wanted it as she hadn’t had children yet....now that is possibly a case of Chinese whispers so 🤷🏼‍♀️

I totally get why that has thrown you and I am totally torn about the vaccine, I’m not in any high risk group nor do I work in a position where I may be called early for it so I have a little bit more time to think about it.

I am in no way shape or form an ‘anti-vaxxer’ nor part of the ‘COVID is 5G crew’ but I am really torn about the vaccine, If I wasn’t TTC I’d be very much like JAB ME UP BITCHS!! I think the worst thing they ever did was say women who were planning a pregnancy shouldn’t have it, even though I know it was just because they didn’t know at the time. I think it just made people nervous. The local authority I work for has had a really poor uptake in the amount of care worker staff taking up the vaccine the reason being is they are mostly young women who are concerned about fertility side effects, even the managers of the care homes have been turning it down.

I'm a bit at that advice, because presumably there is a health or profession related reason you are being offered it, that means Covid19 is a risk factor for you. Sadly, as we all know TTC (nevermind the 9-10 months of pregnancy) could take a while too!

@Lovebug06 So strange... was that person medically trained? Unfortunately sometimes the people answering these Qs are not well informed and so just say the 'most conservative' option.

The NHS website about the vaccine (www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine/) specifically says "There's no evidence that the COVID-19 vaccine has any effect on your chances of becoming pregnant. There's no need to avoid pregnancy after vaccination."

The CDC in the USA (www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/pregnancy.html) say similarly "There is currently no evidence that any vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, cause fertility problems. CDC does not recommend routine pregnancy testing before COVID-19 vaccination. If you are trying to become pregnant, you do not need to avoid pregnancy after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine."

PS: just wanted to stress that I am not a medic nor any form of specialist on vaccines, I'm just taking info from the relevant trustworthy NHS and professional websites

So I decided to just ring my doctors to be definately sure as my mum said about it and to reassure myself. They didn't know so gave me the number of the covid place I'll be having the jab at. They have jsut told me no not to have it if trying and wait until I have had a baby. He even double checked when I said about what is on the NHS website and was told the same. Its thrown me!

Just joining this thread now. My husband and I have been TTC for 5 months now. I came off the Cerelle pill 5 months ago and since then my ovulation/periods have been pretty much none existent.
I researched that your supposed to have a withdrawal bleed 2-4 weeks after coming off the pill but I didnt have one until 8 weeks after coming off the pill, then after that it took me 6 weeks until I ovulated then 2 weeks later I had my first period and since then ive had absolutely nothing. No ovulation and no period.
I had 12 days where I was high/positive OPK but i never peaked, just went straight back to low/negative. I had blood tests today to check if I had any underlying issues with thyroid, hormones, PCOS etc so fingers crossed i have no issues.
Ive been taking multi vitamins for people who are TTC which I thought would help boost my hormonal reset after coming off the pill but nothings worked.
No idea whats going on tbh. Before I went on the pill I had regular periods but when i did have a period it was painful and so heavy which is why I went on the pill and was on them for 3-4 years.

@Kay00 that’s great news! So much progress. And a little break in Cornwall sounds divine! I must admit that the private clinic is very tempting. Sounds so much quicker.

@Lovebug06 I agree there is a lot of conflicting information out there... and a lot of scaremongering too!! I'm embarrassed to say some of my own family members are part of that 'Covid isn't real, its just 5G' crowd . @TheDaydreamBelievers is a breath of fresh air, and I would be lining up to get my vaccine if I was offered it.

I got my appointment date for the fertility clinic today - yey!!! Its on the 6th May at 9am. The day after OH and I get back from a little break in Cornwall . It will be a video consultation and I have been send lots of leaflets and forms to fill in. Eeek!

I also went to see my Gastroentorologist today about inflammation, i'm being sent for a colonoscopy, and gastroscopy, an ultrasound on my gall bladder and a test for helicobacter pylori (because my dad died young of stomach cancer)... sounds a lot but they are tests to just rule things out; he isn't concerned it is anything serious and doesn't think it should be effecting my fertility (the tests should confirm more) yey!

Today I feel like i'm making progress!

@Lovebug06 glad it's useful. in the end, it's completely your decision, I just wanted to provide the medical authority standpoint and perhaps counteract some of the scary messages going about.

My dose 2 is in may, and I'm crossing my fingers I'm pregnant before then (unlikely haha)

I was mostly worried about if I got pregnant after having it and it affected the baby in some way, I'd never forgive myself. I'm Ovulating at the same time as when I'll have it.
I think I should go for it then.
