TTC after MC - new thread for newbies / lurkers on other threads!

Lowkeyloopy · 06/04/2021 12:49

Hi all!

I know there are several threads dedicated to this topic, which I've lurked on for several weeks without saying anything, but some threads (sadly) have so many people on them that it can be a bit hard to follow, or it feels awkward to jump into the middle of a conversation between people who have been chatting for a while. Does anyone fancy joining me on a new thread?

My story: 33, TTC baby #1, conceived first cycle in Feb, but had a MC at 6 weeks in early March. Absolutely awful, as everyone knows, and I was in a rubbish place mentally for a few weeks, but I've also counted my blessings - it was early, I needed no medical intervention and at least I know I can conceive. Also AF has returned today - 29 days after first day of my MC. I usually have a 28-29 day cycle so am so grateful that my body seems to be getting with the programme again.

So CD1 for me, and I'll be TTC this month and back to tracking - BBT from tomorrow, OPKs from CD 11, still taking my Pregnacare and trying to keep exercising and eating healthily!

Would anyone like to join me if they're going through something similar? How have you been coping since your MC? What's on your TTC to-do list?! (Other than the obvious..!)

Baby dust to all xx

Have you read about Vitex or B6 to help with that? Apparently Vitex is amazing to lengthen your cycles and ovulation!

I'm usually 29 days give or take a day but I'm not sure as this is first after chemical x

SparrowMaiden · 15/06/2021 13:54

@TBF29 it really is so hard to wait!!! I have four tests burning a hole in my bedside table right now and I have been SO STRONG the last two cycles not using them. I said after my cp I would never test early again, but every month I feel less convinced I'll stick to that...

@Laurenxx94 ah nice yeah we are pretty much in sync! How long are your cycles? Mine are usually 25-26 days so I am lucky in some ways, not having to wait so long, but I ovulate super early usually so my actual fertile window is depressingly short Sad

TBF29 · 15/06/2021 13:27

@Laurenxx94 I can see me going the same way!

@bea19 no I'm ok at the moment :) my mum has said to me all along that she thinks I have coped with what's happened almost too well. My concern is that if I don't manage to get pregnant again I'll spiral into a bit of a hole as every month passes. I'm starting acupuncture tomorrow though so at least I can feel like I'm being proactive!

bea19 · 15/06/2021 13:06

@TBF29 the lure of POAS is real! Hope you’re not disheartened though, as you said, far too early to see anything

Laurenxx94 · 15/06/2021 12:49

@TBF29 I done that my first 3 cycles I was absolutely obsessed! X

TBF29 · 15/06/2021 11:36

Well my desperation to be pregnant again has taken over and I did a test this morning at 5 days post ovulation. Of course I couldn't see anything! I think I may be losing the plot!

Laurenxx94 · 15/06/2021 11:02

@SparrowMaiden I'm on CD9 , kind of similar! Xx

SparrowMaiden · 15/06/2021 07:00

@CMcA21 yay for your new job and good to hear you have celebrated properly. Every pregnancy is different so you never know! With my dd the month I conceived was the only one I drank once my AF was finished, and I wonder if letting you hair down is good for ttc sometimes!

CMcA21 · 14/06/2021 22:43

Thanks girls for all the lovely messages about my job! So happy 💜 been lots of celebrations this weekend.

@Flopsy88 AF due either tomorrow or Wednesday according to Flo.. no symptoms at all apart from sore boobs but I get those before AF anyway so I’m just waiting for my period now. Also last time I was pregnant I couldn’t stomach alcohol at all and I’ve drank a fair bit this weekend so I think that’s another sign. I will keep you updated though.

Floppy - I convinced myself I was having an ectopic last time, but it wasn’t. I would say that a reassurance scan will help too if you get your digital progression.

@ItsMeantToBe glad your hormone levels are looking good! Let us know about the scan! 🤞🏻

@SparrowMaiden good luck with the DTD!

SparrowMaiden · 14/06/2021 21:55

Hi everyone,

@Flopsy88 how is the nausea. I agree with @ItsMeantToBe it sounds like a good sign to me!

I've lost track of who (if anyone) I'm synced up with... I'm on CD 7 today... this month I'm trying grapefruit juice and Brazil nuts on top of everything else! I've also decided to go down to dtd every other day rather than every day, just as an experiment... I'll let you know how it goes...

bea19 · 14/06/2021 21:52

@ItsMeantToBe that’s fantastic. Fingers crossed for your scan.

TWW ok for me so far - I’m normally ok in the first week and then I get impatient!

ItsMeantToBe · 14/06/2021 20:08

@Flopsy88 How are you feeling today? I completely get your anxiety. You're bound to feel nervous until you've had a scan. Sickness sounds like a good sign though. It's such a shame we can all just relax and enjoy the experience isn't it?

@bea19 my HCG doubled again :). They have booked me in for a scan on Wednesday, which I'm glad about but so scared! How's your TWW going so far?

bea19 · 14/06/2021 19:36

Hi ladies, just catching up! Welcome to everyone new - I’m so sorry for your losses.

@Flopsy88 I’m so sorry about your brother. Keeping everything crossed that he gets everything he needs as soon as possible! I can completely relate to your anxiety - I was convinced my last pregnancy was ectopic (it wasn’t) and I think any pregnancy after a loss is incredibly anxious! I don’t really have any tips, other than if there are any tricks that worked for you to get through the TWW they might help now? The only thing that really distracts me from anxiety is making myself really busy but obviously everyone is different! I was really anxious until my 12 week scan with our DD (pregnancy after a MC) and fairly anxious until my 20 week scan. It got much better after I could feel her moving, and after that 20 week scan (though if I’m honest never completely went away for me). How many weeks are you now? Could you book a reassurance scan to feel proactive?

@CMcA21 congratulations on the job! That’s fantastic.

@ItsMeantToBe hope your Sunday hcg readings were reassuring.

@Aila1994 I am about the same cycle stage as you. Not sure exactly when I ovulated as I got a peak fertility reading on a CB digital opk on CD12 so assumed I ovulated CD13 but then had EWCM on CD15 so I’m either 2 or 4 DPO 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Flopsy88 · 14/06/2021 07:37

Thank you ❤️ I know I'm probably worrying about nothing! I'll do a digital in a couple of days and if it says 2-3 weeks I'll be happy

And yes @Laurenxx94 Pomegranate juice is delicious!

How are you doing @CMcA21? Have you been celebrating this weekend? Is AF due today? 🤞🏻for you xx

TBF29 · 13/06/2021 21:24

@flopsy88
I know my last pregnancy didn't last but I had also convinced myself it was molar or ectopic and it was neither so try not to assume the worst - much easier said than done I know! It's so sad that miscarriage robs you of the innocence of pregnancy.

Laurenxx94 · 13/06/2021 21:12

@Flopsy88 it makes total sense how your feeling I totally understand. I think because of your loss everything will go through. Your head!
Remember every pregnancy is different and like you say the fact your lines have been dark! Maybe a reassurance scan at 6/7 weeks to put your mind at ease ? Xx

Flopsy88 · 13/06/2021 20:26

Hope you've all had fab weekends ladies! I'm not ready for it to be over! ☀️😭

I'm feeling really sick and I'm worried it's a bad sign that I feel so rough this early. I know it sounds ridiculous but I've convinced myself it's a molar pregnancy. I've had nausea for the last 3 days and it was so bad this morning it woke me up. I felt so sick I was dreaming about feeling sick! I'm only 4 weeks today and I did a test on 12dpo that was really dark. I know high HCG is a sign of a molar. Last time I only had a little bit of nausea from week 5/6 that never really got any worse, but then I miscarried at 9 weeks. So maybe this is a good sign?! I don't know. If I had no symptoms and light tests I'd probably be worrying about that too! Last time I knew there was a chance it could go wrong but I thought it probably wouldn't. This time I feel like it probably will go wrong but there's a chance it might be ok. Does that make sense? It's hard to feel optimistic after a loss 😔

ItsMeantToBe · 13/06/2021 15:15

@Lowkeyloopy Yes I'm tired too but still managing to get things done. When I was pregnant with my son I was useless from about 2pm, so I'm hoping it doesn't get that bad this time. I've had a few waves of sickness/dizziness. Also been having really vivid dreams all week! I woke up in such a mood with DH this morning because he dream cheated on me. Can't stop eating either. I'm sure your cramps are just your body working away!

That chart is so reassuring, thanks for sharing! Im 6 weeks today so an 84.7% chance of having a viable pregnancy :). I got my bloods done again today so hoping for a HCG >10000.

How's everyone else doing?

Laurenxx94 · 13/06/2021 14:40

@Lowkeyloopy thanks for your reply , that's very reassuring for me and the things you said put things into a good perspective you've definitely made me look at things differently xx

Lowkeyloopy · 13/06/2021 13:41

Congratulations @CMcA21 ! Fab news. Hope you’ve celebrated this weekend!

@Laurenxx94 Welcome and I’m so sorry for your losses. It must be comforting to know you are capable of getting pregnant because of your DD, and even your chemicals are a weirdly good sign - they can be a sign of future fertility. It’s probably just that your body is overly welcoming to embryos that should never make it and that perhaps lots of people’s bodies would just overlook. But your body gives it a go! I know thats a weird silver lining..! In terms of things I did - I put a list above somewhere! I think if you click on “see all” for my posts you should be able to find it.

Hey @Flopsy88 and @ItsMeantToBe - sounds like we’re having similar symptoms. I’m mainly just tired, though not like crazy mad tired yet. Though my job often requires long hours and some lack of sleep, so perhaps I’m just used to operating on little sleep..? Am getting very occasional light nausea too and starting to go off “interesting” (and nutritious) food in favour of bread and cheese. Also getting up to pee twice or three times a night is suuuper annoying, but it’s a symptom so I won’t complain!

I also get mild cramping pretty much every night and occasionally during the day too. Which was kinda terrifying but now I’m getting a bit more used to it and trying to see it as a positive sign that things are moving and stretching. I’m also obsessed with this chart. datayze.com/miscarriage-chart

Tomorrow is a big milestone as I miscarried at that stage (5+4) last time. Want to get to 6 weeks on Thurs then will take a weeks indicator to see if I get 3+ - too scared to take it until then!

Hi @Flopsy88 thank you for taking the time to reply.

I wasn't sure if my progesterone was supposed to drop as low during my chemical but that makes sense they said to me they didn't know if that caused the miscarriage or if the miscarriage caused the low progesterone I will never know.
I got my blood test through the GP they came back equivocal (didn't know if I had or hadn't ovulated)
But when I went to EPU they told me that my levels on day 21 (were 21) and that they looked fine but I've also read that 21 is extremely low 😭

They all sound promising I've tried grapefruit juice Il try the pomegranate juice does that taste nicer than the grapefruit lol? X

Flopsy88 · 12/06/2021 07:42

@Lowkeyloopy I hope you had better sleep and are feeling fresh today ☀️ I'm sleeping terribly too. I'm waking up in the night really hungry and getting up for milk and biscuits. I don't think the heat is helping!

@TBF29 That's pretty much exactly what's happened. We nagged him for years to get it checked and then it suddenly got bigger in the last few months. Glad to hear your mum is ok, that gives me some hope ❤ Yes, one of the ladies hosting TWGG swears by acupuncture and when she tells her story it does sound amazing

@SparrowMaiden That is so nice of your mum! But yes, also a bit odd that she'll be thinking 'ooh I hope they're having lots of sex' 😂

@Laurenxx94 Sorry to hear about your chemical. I think you're right to be reassured that you can get pregnant. Did you have your day 21 test through a clinic? From what I've read that's only supposed to confirm that you're ovulating and I would have thought you'd expect the level to be low after the chemical. Are your cycles regular with a 14 day luteal phase? I've done quite a lot of things differently since my mc in March and just got a BFP on my 2nd full cycle. If I listed them all it would make me sound obsessed (which I am) and obviously I have no idea if any of them helped! I'd also read It Starts with the Egg and so a lot of it was trying to improve my egg health to reduce the chance of another mc. Anyway, the things I did differently this month to help conception
-higher dose of Evening Primrose Oil (2000mg) during the follicular phase (but stopped at ovulation)
-Grapefruit juice every day in the follicular phase (good for EWCM)
-Pomegranate juice every day (supposed to help thicken the uterus lining)
-legs in the air after sex for 15 minutes (DP didn't even bat an eyelid, bless him)
-follwed the Sperm meets Egg plan

I have also been taking Aspirin 75mg since ovulation. I thought about it a lot and I don't even know if it's necessary but I've got a couple of close friends who are GPs and they said it can't do any harm

Flopsy88 · 12/06/2021 06:52

@ItsMeantToBe Oh that's such good news! So pleased for you. I hope you're able to relax a bit now

@CMcA21 AMAZING!!! 🥳 Congratulations! What a wonderful start to your weekend 🥂🙂

Aila1994 · 12/06/2021 00:02

Hi ladies! I haven’t checked in for a while but I’ve been lurking! @Flopsy88 I’m so sorry to hear about your brother, sending positive thoughts your way and congratulations on the baba, light at the end of the tunnel!

I’m either ovulating today or I ovulated yesterday. Think this is our 4th or 5th month of trying since the miscarriage and although I know that’s completely normal, it’s starting to worry me that nothing has happened for us yet.

How is everyone else? Anyone around the same time in their cycle is me?
