TTC after MC - new thread for newbies / lurkers on other threads!

Lowkeyloopy · 06/04/2021 12:49

Hi all!

I know there are several threads dedicated to this topic, which I've lurked on for several weeks without saying anything, but some threads (sadly) have so many people on them that it can be a bit hard to follow, or it feels awkward to jump into the middle of a conversation between people who have been chatting for a while. Does anyone fancy joining me on a new thread?

My story: 33, TTC baby #1, conceived first cycle in Feb, but had a MC at 6 weeks in early March. Absolutely awful, as everyone knows, and I was in a rubbish place mentally for a few weeks, but I've also counted my blessings - it was early, I needed no medical intervention and at least I know I can conceive. Also AF has returned today - 29 days after first day of my MC. I usually have a 28-29 day cycle so am so grateful that my body seems to be getting with the programme again.

So CD1 for me, and I'll be TTC this month and back to tracking - BBT from tomorrow, OPKs from CD 11, still taking my Pregnacare and trying to keep exercising and eating healthily!

Would anyone like to join me if they're going through something similar? How have you been coping since your MC? What's on your TTC to-do list?! (Other than the obvious..!)

Baby dust to all xx

So sorry @SparrowMaiden . Can you call your EPU or midwife? Fingers crossed for you x

SparrowMaiden · 10/07/2021 07:30

Hi all. Had a weird feeling yesterday like something was wrong. Woke up spotting this morning. I think it might be over again Sad I don't have any tests left so I'm going to have to buy some today but I almost don't want to know. So utterly gutted.

CMcA21 · 09/07/2021 10:00

Window to the womb handled my miscarriage awfully, I suppose it depends on where you are and which one you’d go to!

TBF29 · 08/07/2021 16:29

@Mrsmujic I have used both Window to the Womb and Ultrasound Direct.

If I'm fortunate enough to need an early scan again I'd use Window to the Womb. The reason being that they checked everything was OK before putting the image on the screen. When I went to Ultrasound Direct I found out about my MMC and they put everything on the screen straight away so I got to see my 2 babies without a heartbeat.

It may have been that if they hadn't showed me I would have asked to see anyway but I think being pre-warned would have been better.

Flopsy88 · 08/07/2021 16:18

@Mrsmujic I used Ultrasound Direct. I would also recommend them

Lowkeyloopy · 08/07/2021 15:34

Hi @Mrsmujic I went with Window to the Womb. Would recommend - professional, kind, easy to book etc.

Hi all, hope you're all doing okay?

Those of you who have had early scans, which company did you use? (UK) Xx

ItsMeantToBe · 06/07/2021 20:35

Sorry I've been awol, I've been struggling with morning sickness and been falling asleep super early. The morning sickness is there all the time now to some extent and gets awful when I'm hungry. Although the thought of most food turns my stomach. Im hoping it passes but can't imagine it will for a while. It's reassuring though 🙂. Im 7.4 today, according to my scans. By my LMP Im 8.2 but I ovulated around CD22 so I'm not surprised they put me back.

@SparrowMaiden congratulations! Amazing news! Hope you're good.

@bea19 good luck with your referral. Hope they see you soon.

@Aila1994 well done on the new job! I think you're right to focus on that for now and ttc when you're settled/eligible for mat leave. You've got plenty of time.

@Lowkeyloopy so glad your scan went well.

@Flopsy88 glad your scan was good!

@LSW82 @CMcA21 hope your TWW goes quickly!

Fingers crossed for everyone!

LSW82 · 06/07/2021 20:12

@CMcA21 I'm just behind you on CD21! It's an anxious wait, AF is due next wed if I go back to my usual 28 day cycle after most recent mc.
Wedding venue viewing will be fun, & hopefully keep your mind off things!
How is everyone doing? Anyone else n the TWW?

CMcA21 · 06/07/2021 18:50

@SparrowMaiden so happy it went well 💜

@Flopsy88 I’m okay thanks honey! CD22 today and I’m feeling some cramps, 9 days til AF due so we will see. Going to view somewhere for our wedding next week as other places we’ve seen have been too small so fingers crossed we love this one 😍

How’s everyone else?

TBF29 · 06/07/2021 10:22

So happy for you guys @SparrowMaiden, @Flopsy88 and @Lowkeyloopy. It gives me hope that it can happen for me again too! 🤞

Flopsy88 · 06/07/2021 08:18

@Lowkeyloopy Congratulations on your positive scan! That sounds like such a lovely experience 🙂

@CMcA21 Thank you love! How are you doing? I hope you're still feeling chilled and enjoying the wedding planning

I am feeling awful today! So sick, tired, constipated, bloated, gassy (sorry tmi!). Is it true that you wake up on day 1 of the second trimester feeling fabulous with glowing skin and loads of energy?? I really hope so 🙏🏼

SparrowMaiden · 06/07/2021 06:40

@Lowkeyloopy such good news so happy for you! Xxx

Lowkeyloopy · 05/07/2021 21:51

Thank you ladies! I was so so nervous before the scan. But all went well! Saw little bean - two arms, two legs, a brain and a strong heartbeat!! Measuring 8+6 which is two days ahead of LMP date of 8+4 but is what I thought I was based on when I thought I ovulated. Very happy! Absolutely mental though that all that can have been going on in there!

I hope this happens for everyone in this thread asap. It only takes that one time. 🤞Hugs to all X

@Flopsy88 I missed your message and thought your scan was today - so pleased for you! ❤️

@Lowkeyloopy hope today went okay! 💓

CMcA21 · 04/07/2021 19:07

@Aila1994 congrats on your new job, I’m in the same position, I’ve just been given a promotion at work and it’s one year in the first instance so I kind of need to be doing it well before I get pregnant if I want it to be extended. What you say about fate sounds good to me. As mine is a promotion I don’t need to worry about Mat pay but getting 25 weeks full pay is absolutely amazing 😱

@bea19 good luck with your appointment.

@SparrowMaiden congrats my love!!

@Flopsy88 crossing my fingers for tomorrow. Please update us ASAP ❤️

I’m 4DPO (I think) today and have sore boobs and v emotional. We have DTD earlier this month so god knows what will happen. We will see I guess

LSW82 · 04/07/2021 17:46

@SparrowMaiden congratulations that's amazing news
@Lowkeyloopy good luck with the scan tomorrow, hope all goes well
@Flopsy88 congratulations on a successful scan, hope that helps to ease anxiety a bit

I got my peak ovulation today on CD19 so the wait begins for me.... fingers crossed

Flopsy88 · 04/07/2021 15:50

@Lowkeyloopy Good luck for tomorrow lovely! All your symptoms sound good🤞🏻 I'm feeling really sick too and can't stop eating. I've just been for an early scan this afternoon at 7 weeks. I'd been feeling really positive until today but as soon as we arrived at the clinic I couldn't stop crying and told the sonographer I was expecting bad news after last time. She was so lovely and showed me the heartbeat straight away. Measuring 6+6 with is perfect 🥰 It doesn't feel real!!

Lowkeyloopy · 04/07/2021 14:09

Congratulations @Aila1994! Missed your message in my previous post. Fantastic news on the job. It’s such a personal decision but I think in your shoes I’d wait 6 months and get the extra financial security. Perhaps that’s easy for me to say because I’m 33 and didn’t meet my DP until I was 28 nearly 29! So having a baby wasn’t on my list at all at 27. You have sooooo much time. But obviously I can understand wanting to crack on TTC if that feels like the next thing in your life plan. But I wouldn’t do it just because you’re worried about it taking a while - 4 months really is no time at all (although I do know from experience it doesn’t feel like that!) and you could start TTC at 28 or 29 or even 30 and your odds of conceiving won’t be any less than they are now. Good luck with the decision - it’s a tricky one!

Congratulations @SparrowMaiden! Fingers crossed for a happy and healthy 9 months for you.

Very good news about the referral @bea19 - hopefully that all goes smoothly and you get some answers and support asap. Look after yourself in the meantime Flowers

I hope everyone else is well. I’m at 8+3 today, got an early reassurance scan tomorrow. Please keep fingers crossed for me! I have read far too much about missed MCs and am nervous. Have been feeling tired, nauseous when hungry (and actually sick a couple of times) and have sore boobs though so hoping everything is as it should be 🤞🤞

Thanks ladies, I really hope they will see me. The three in a row rule is ridiculous. This is my third MC but only two of those have been consecutive. The clinic I’ve asked for referral to says they accept referrals after three miscarriages, or two if you are over 35 (which I am) so it might be worth looking into if you still wanted to seek care @TBF29 (sorry, I can’t remember how old everyone is!) It isn’t my nearest clinic, I’m certain the local one would be enforcing a three in a row rule (their EPAU repeatedly refused to see me even when I had symptoms of ectopic pregnancy earlier in the year so I was going to avoid them anyway!)

@SparrowMaiden so great you got a pregnant result on a digital, your hcg must be rising nicely. Sorry you and your family have got a nasty cold though.

SparrowMaiden · 04/07/2021 10:35

Thanks!!

That's great that your GP has referred you @bea19 I hope they will see you. The three in a row rule is so ridiculous and unfair.

I'm feeling OK, still quite anxious/nervous but slightly reassured as I didn't get a +ve on a digital last time... also dh and dd have had a horrible cold all week (not covid, we tested!) and I suddenly seemed to get it yesterday so now i don't know if I'm feeling rough from pregnancy or the cold!!!

TBF29 · 04/07/2021 09:57

Congratulations @SparrowMaiden that's great news!

Let us know how you get on @bea19. I wondered about contacting my GP but when I went for my MVA the hospital told me I'd need to have 3 before they'd look into it.

bea19 · 04/07/2021 09:37

@SparrowMaiden congratulations! That’s fantastic 😊. How are you feeling so far?

Sounds like a sensible plan @Aila1994. And I’m sure the six months will go more quickly than usual when you’re getting stuck into your exciting new job.

I spoke to my GP on Friday and he has referred me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. No guarantee they will see me (they ‘assess all referrals’ before contacting you), or how long I might have to wait, but I fit the criteria on their website so fingers crossed.

Hope everyone is ok and has a lovely Sunday.
