After being on cerazette for 7 years, my OH and I have decided to TTC baby #3.

While on cerazette my AF stopped completely, at the time I thought this was wonderful, but now we are TTC, I have no idea what my cycle is or when it will ever come back. 😭

I have 'only' been off Cerazette for 5 weeks, which I know in the grand scheme of things is a very short amount of time. I know I just need to be patient and let my body find its groove again. But every day feels like a lifetime, waiting for AF.

I haven't had any sign of a withdrawal bleed or anything. I was expecting to atleast of had that by now?!
Lots of bloating, sore boobs and cramps, but nothing else.

I should also say, I am 37. So I have that little (irrational) nagging voice in my head telling me my body clock is ticking. Hence the lack of patience and added anxiety. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Please share your stories of coming off of cerazette. Did you have a withdrawal bleed? How long did it take for AF to arrive? How long after stopping cerazette did it take for you to conceive?

Thank you. ❤

@deethra that sounds like a good plan. Getting too obsessed with TTC is so easy to do but not good for your general well-being. It's fine if you conceive fairly quickly (hopefully that's still you) but as I experienced it can take a long time and you don't want to get driving yourself nuts for all that time.

deethra · 18/04/2021 18:11

Thanks @Skyla01

I'm definitely at the driving myself mad stage. 🙈

I've decided to get some folic acid and vitamin d supplements tomorrow and try to focus this time on getting my body healthy, rather than constantly focusing on baby.
It's easier said than done, but I'm getting so emotional and down focusing on AF arriving or conceiving.
It will happen when it's meant to, I need to just keep reminding myself that.

I didn't bleed at all on cerazette. After stopping it I had no withdrawal bleed. AF finally appeared after six weeks. Lots of symptoms during that time like cramps etc. In total took six months for my cycle to be regular and thirteen months to conceive. Bit longer than we would have liked but got there in the end!

My advice would be to try and not obsess too much in the early days (I drove myself mad), especially as pill might stuff up your cycle for a bit.

Good luck!

feliznavidad2 · 18/04/2021 16:54

Nothing @deethra 🙄 I've done a cheap preggo test from Tesco (freedom?) as they were only £1 for two, unsurprisingly it was a BFN.

I'm just telling myself I need to be patient now. And not stress. And drink lots of G&Ts in the meantime.

Sorry to hear you've not had any progress either, we'll get there. Hope you're not feeling too down.

deethra · 18/04/2021 12:06

Day 42 and still no sign of AF.
How's everyone else getting on?
@feliznavidad2??

I've been feeling 'heavy' at the base of my abdomen for about 4 days, so I thought something might be happening, but no signs of anything yet.
Achy boobs and lots cramps/lower back aches.

I did another test today, It's still to early I think, but my impatience got the better of me, haha.
It was another negative.
I need to stock up on some cheap but reliable ones I think. This is starting to break my bank balance 😂

Any recommendations on cheap but reliable tests welcome please.

Hope everyone's having a fab weekend.

“ Period pants are a lifesaver for me! (Teacher here too!)”

Just ordered some! I genuinely can’t remember what it was like to have periods and I wasn’t a teacher ten years ago so this could be interesting!

Kat668 · 16/04/2021 23:29

We're all in it together ladies!! ❤

I think tracking CM is a good way to keep track of ovulating, without the stress of OPKs just yet! I had 5 days of EWCM so pretty sure I ovulated 2 weeks after coming off the pill but think we missed our chance as only started TTC the day after. I don't know if its possible to ovulate again without having a period in between so don't know when my next chance will be 😂

deethra · 16/04/2021 21:56

Hi @fallulah
Sounds like you've found the right place. 😊

I'm 37, so I have a similar voice of reason telling me not to get to emotionally invested. That voice of reason is fighting a loosing battle though, I have to say. Haha.
Period watch for me has manifested into constantly wondering if I've already conceive and that's why AF is a no show.
In all honestly though, I'm not even sure if I've ovulated yet. (I'm trying to refrain from tracking ovulation).

I was hoping to not actively start TTC until my cycle had returned to normal (whatever that is), but I got to impatient 😅.

I'm sure I'd be driving myself crazy if it wasn't for this little thread, so hopefully it can help bring some support (and comfort) for you too.

@Fallulah

Glad I found this thread. I posted in Family Planning the other day that I had come off Cerazette after ten+ years of no periods on Good Friday but still no period. I did say then that I wasn’t actively trying to get pregnant but it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but the more I think about it, I would like it! I think I’m trying to manage my own expectations as I am 40 and have had previous surgeries so I think it’s unlikely.

So far nothing but really sore boobs!

I had timed coming off the pill to coincide with the Easter holidays as I am a teacher and had two weeks off, and thought my period would come then, but no luck! I will have to try and remember how I used to deal with it at work!

feliznavidad2 · 16/04/2021 21:24

👋🏻 @Fallulah sounds like you're in the right place.

I stopped taking the pill on 14th March - 33 days ago. Lots of intermittent cramping and achy boobs, and some v v slight spotting for about half an hour one day but that's it. 😣

Fingers crossed for us all that our periods/withdrawal bleeds (I'm calling it a period) come ASAP. 🤞🏻 🤞🏻 🤞🏻

@Kat668 you're not alone - I've bought some cheapy pregnancy tests as keep DTD but no idea if I'm even ovulating 🤷‍♀️

Jay3004 · 16/04/2021 18:18

@deethra @Kat668 @feliznavidad2 thanks ladies, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you all 🥰

Kat668 · 16/04/2021 17:22

Congratulations @Jay3004 🥰

I'm on day 32 off the pill and still no bleeding/period. Did a test yesterday and a BFN so just in limbo waiting ha ha

deethra · 16/04/2021 16:23

@Jay3004 Ohhh that does fill me with hope!
Thank you!

Huge congratulations 😊

That's really reassuring @Jay3004 - congratulations on your pregnancy. 😊

Jay3004 · 16/04/2021 14:24

Hi @deethra. I just wanted to give you a positive story.

I had been on the pill since I was 16 (now 32). I was changed to Cerazette in my mid 20s due to migraines and my periods stopped altogether for the whole time.

I came off the pill at the beginning of November and felt like AF was never going to arrive but it did eventually on the 17th December. On the 12th January I found out I was pregnant and I am now 17 weeks.

Wishing you lots of luck xx

feliznavidad2 · 14/04/2021 15:01

@deethra Ah no, I'm sorry. I would've thought the same thing, if it's any consolation.

I'll let you know re. Tests, I've ordered some fairly cheapy ones from Amazon which had good reviews. 🤷‍♀️

deethra · 14/04/2021 10:35

38 days here and still no sign of AF @feliznavidad2.

I did another test yesterday as I had convinced myself that the brown spotting the other week could have been an implantation bleed.
I did the worst thing possible and had got my hopes up, but it was another negative.

It's so soil destroying isn't it.

I debated stocking up on some cheap ebay ones, but I wasn't sure how reliable they'd be.
Let me know how you rate them, I may get some too if you think they're worth it.

OP posts:
feliznavidad2 · 14/04/2021 10:17

It's been 31 days since I stopped taking the pill and still nothing, I'm v bloated and crappy on occasion but no spotting. I've ordered some cheapy pregnancy tests as not entirely sure if I'm ovulating but we've been doing lots of DTD. 🤷‍♀️

Hope someone else has progressed further than I have on this pill-less journey. @deethra ?

feliznavidad2 · 10/04/2021 22:05

Nobody else to tell so sharing with you guys. I think AF is either on her way or I'm ovulating or something.

Lots of lower abdominal cramping, and sore boobs this eve. Did a pregnancy test this am as find lack of period disconcerting but was BFN - as expected.

I'll keep you updated - it's like period watch.

deethra · 08/04/2021 19:03

Thank you for sharing @Russell19

I love all these positive stories today.
Positive stories and others to talk to who are going through the same - It's definitely been good for the soul.

Russell19 · 08/04/2021 18:47

Hi, it took around 2/3 months for AF after stopping cerazette and around 8 months to fall pregnant Smile

deethra · 08/04/2021 18:39

Ohh @tisonlymeagain that does give me hope!!
Thank you so much for sharing.

@feliznavidad2 I keep telling myself to relax and stop stressing. It'll happen when it's meant to happen. But we all know saying it to yourself and actually doing it, are two completely different things. 😂

@ivy99 I'll never go back onto hormonal birth control again either. You don't appreciate how much it effects your body. Which is crazy if you think about it, but you just don't think about what it's actually doing to you, or any repercussions.
Ohh, how magical would it be if you could show OH a positive test result on his birthday. 🤞🏻🙏🏻 Good luck!!

I REALLY hope this is our month!!

OP posts:
Ivy99 · 08/04/2021 17:42

thanks @feliznavidad2 It's such a rollercoaster coming off the pill. My hormones were all over the place but equally it was a weight off my shoulders. I'm never going on hormonal birth control again!

haha i was the same! I mean i read it does boost your sex drive but i was quite surprised at how much! And it's not as if we never DTD!

Good luck everyone, keep us posted xx
