Soy Isoflavones..yay or nay?

moly39x · 21/03/2021 23:33

Been doing some research on soy isoflavones & I didn't know what people's opinions are?

I have a 35 day cycle, ovulate between CD17-21 - currently 7th month in of TTC after 1 early loss at 5 week in October.

Do people have any experience with taking them? I read the following on an old thread here about with CD to take them..

My concerns are; I have little/none EWCM (have conceive plus lube) but I get positive OPK every month (temping just stressed me out which I decided would do more harm?!) and I'm sure soy iso is to help ovulate? But now I've read the below, it looks as though it can help the egg. I'm cautious about messing up my cycle so was just looking to hear other people's experience.

Here's the info I've read here (have lots more saved in my notes if people want to see about the dose etc if interest) :)

Thank you x

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

*BFPs, obviously...

katewitch · 03/05/2021 12:30

It's crazy what a difference it seems to be making for you all! Hopefully this can only mean good things for our cycles and PFPs all round...!

Currently on CD12 here and now have EWCM and twinges that could well be ovary-based... currently holding my pee for an OPK at 2pm, which is easier said than done as I usually drink loads and pee hourly Grin

We have been DTD EOD, I have warned DH that this may go on for 3 weeks while I wait for a positive OPK which he seems happy about, I may die if it takes that long...!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it will definitely be interesting to see if there’s a change when not taking it.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 03/05/2021 07:56

That’s interesting a few of us are having darker opks on it. I won’t take it this next cycle as I having bloods taken and dr asked me to stop taking anything except preconception vitamin. So I’ll let you know if my cycle changes back suddenly!
My period hasn’t arrived yet despite tinged cm the last couple days. Due tomorrow, and this would be a 12 day luteal phase again, so fairly consistent to last month on soy. But I didn’t have the tinged cm last cycle, it started the day before period

Twiggywinkle13 · 02/05/2021 13:07

@choccrumpet me too - I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that these things happened! Next month is our month for BFP’s for sure!

choccrumpet · 02/05/2021 09:15

Congratulations @Sadcatsandcoffee !

@Twiggywinkle13 my ewcm seems normal with no changes, maybe it's more peaky in texture. My OPK was the darkest I've had it, with a higher ratio according to premom. I think I'm also out this month, haven't been able to bd around my peak.

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/05/2021 00:16

@Twiggywinkle13 I haven't really noticed a difference in cm either I'm afraid

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's me too just sitting here quietly waiting waiting waiting lol

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/05/2021 23:15

@Marvellouslymadmum I’m trying to ignore anything positive or negative also! 🙈 just quietly wait.....

@Twiggywinkle13 I’ve noticed darker and earlier opks, but no change to cervical mucous I don’t think

Twiggywinkle13 · 01/05/2021 22:28

Just coming with an updated, TMI but if we can't share it amongst other crazy TTC friends, where can we? I had a positive OPK yesterday (the highest I've ever had by 0.5) and today I've had EWCM, looking back over the last year I've definitely never noticed it like this before. I just don't accept it's a coincidence, it must be the SI. I'm more than likely out for this cycle as DH is unwell, but I'll definitely be taking the SI for the next - that ones got to be my getting pregnant cycle! Did anyone else notice changes like that?

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/05/2021 20:13

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm not getting my hopes up lol I had these symptoms before but hey ho we will see! How are you doing?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/05/2021 19:45

@Sadcatsandcoffee that’s brilliant! @Marvellouslymadmum that sounds interesting potentially!!!!

Twiggywinkle13 · 01/05/2021 18:55

@Sadcatsandcoffee amazing! Huge congratulations to you ♥️

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/05/2021 18:33

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it is different for me, I normally get ov pain and cramps, I'm now getting this funny twingy feeling around and under my belly button 😳

@Sadcatsandcoffee yay congratulations! That gives me a bit of hope!

Sadcatsandcoffee · 01/05/2021 14:43
@Sadcatsandcoffee can i ask, did you finally get a positive temp on them confirming ovulation this cycle also?
Yes I did! My BBT had been hovering around 97.8 for about 5 days from CD10- CD15 (the day I got the static smiley), CD16 it dropped to 97.5, then back up to 97.8 on CD17 and right up to 98 on CD18. I guessed at ovulation happening on CD16? I tried really hard to take my temp at the same time every morning and that really helped to see a pattern, because the difference in actual numbers is so small!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/05/2021 13:41

@Sadcatsandcoffee congratulations! That’s lovely news

Sadcatsandcoffee · 01/05/2021 12:49

Hi all, I thought I should update this group after my last post. I got a positive FRER last week and am hopefully around 5 weeks now. Obviously it may have been a coincidence as we'd been trying for six months so could have just been our month. However, having only had a positive OPK once before trying the soy, I really do think it made a difference. I took 70mg, 105mg, 140mg, 140mg, 175mg on days 3-7 (they were 35mg capsules from Boots). Good luck everyone, hope it goes well for you.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/05/2021 11:40

@choccrumpet yes my luteal phase was shorter before, so 9-10 days would be about right for that unfortunately 😬

@Marvellouslymadmum that’s strange if it’s different for you

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/05/2021 11:09

@choccrumpet I got literally no ov pain or anything this month! Most odd

choccrumpet · 01/05/2021 10:52

@Marvellouslymadmum it must be ovulation / soy! I'm interested to see if I actually feel anything when I ovulate

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Monday week so quite a while to go! Ooh have you experienced this before? Could it be implantation bleeding instead? Are you thinking of testing? I don't know how you've gone 10 days without testing 🙈

@choccrumpet sounds good to consult her! When's your appointment?

I don't know what's going on at the moment, I'm 10dpo, have had cramping all morning, and tiny specks of blood in CM I think - tinging it a yellow colour. Made it to 12 days last month before any of this, so hoping I'm not regressing and getting a shorter luteal phase

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/05/2021 10:14

@acaciabluebell I've had no side effects the whole cycle as far as I can tell! Unless the tiredness and slight nausea are from it 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Twiggywinkle13 that's exactly what happened to me! We dtd on Thursday and got my peak Saturday! We did try Sunday but he wasn't up to it 🙁 you can ovulate 12-48 hours after the Lh surge so worth a go anyway

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 me too! It's a crazy wait time! That's why I tried soy willing to give anything a go now

@choccrumpet I get nausea every month really from ovulation to af on and off

choccrumpet · 01/05/2021 09:30

The nausea was bearable, never had it before around this time so was wondering what it could be! Also I was mistaken yesterday, got my dye stealer peak today. Cd 23 🤦🏼‍♀️ third long cycle. Might keep going with soy to try bring it forward but will prob speak to my acupuncturist and see what she says

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/05/2021 09:07

@Marvellouslymadmum eight months 😱 when you've been trying for three years. Wow hopefully they move a lot quicker.

@Twiggywinkle13 and @katewitch sounds positive! Twiggy, I'd say try today if he's better, its meant to be 24 hours isn't it? I'd go for it anyway.

@marvellouslymadmum and @choccrumpet sorry you're feeling not so great. Hope its not the soy! Although if it is, easy fix, can stop taking it 😅
