@minthumbugs I know! But it's frustrating as it could take months TTC, so is it worth waiting just incase. AHH so hard! There's just so little evidence out there..I'm totally for vaccination etc but obviously just in this case wouldn't want to take any risks. Confused

soontobeamama · 12/04/2021 20:20

Hi @MammaJ21 - to be honest, I have received conflicting advice from different places about the vaccine - from the NHS, vaccine helpline and vaccine website, as well as GP.

The current advice is not to get the vaccine if you are pregnant. I was told first of all that I should get the vaccine when offered. Then that I would be OK to take the first dose, but if I fall pregnant before the second dose is due, not to get the second one. I was also told not to get it at all just now and to just wait until after I have had the baby (if I were to fall pregnant).

I then spoke to my midwife who said they were advising against getting the vaccine for anyone who was trying to conceive as it had not been fully tested on how it affects fertility. The midwife said if I wanted to choose to get the vaccine, I should then not be trying to conceive for at least 4 months afterwards. When I said I didn't have the luxury of that time due to my age, she basically said that although it was my decision to make, if it was her in my shoes, with my history of 3 miscarriages, she wouldn't want to do anything that may potentially risk my chance of having a baby.

I talked it through with my husband and eventually decided I am not to get the vaccine at the moment.

The advice / guidance may change (as I understand that breast feeding mothers have now been advised they are safe to get the vaccine, when they were previously advised against) as they continue to test effectiveness of the vaccine.

I will keep my eye on changes to guidance and that may affect my future decision. I am working from home just now and very careful (get groceries delivered and rarely go anywhere) so I am trying to minimise my risk of catching it.

minthumbugs · 12/04/2021 20:15

Oh really @MammaJ21. No I totally get what you mean! You overthink everything naturally I think and of course when you've had MCs you really don't want to take any chances. It's a tough one!

MammaJ21 · 12/04/2021 20:09

Sorry I realise my q may have sounded a bit funny then! I'm just curious. I don't know what I think either. So after two MC TTC, think I may be entering fertile window now. I've just heard that in my area in Wales 30+ can ring up and book theirs in. So it's tempting but what if....
I'm a terrible over thinker and would hate to have it and if I had happened TC...very unlikely!! but you know what I mean, I'd be worrying myself. But equally probably haven't C and is it worth having it now before the next cycle?!

minthumbugs · 12/04/2021 20:02

@MammaJ21 i have no idea tbh. All I had really seen was it wasn't advisable for pregnant women and those trying to conceive within 3 months - saw all this when I was pregnant and thought ok that's fine by the time I'm offered it I should've had the baby anyway! I live in Scotland and they're saying every adult will have been offered it by July.

But now I'm not so sure and I need to read up on it more. Hoping that I'll have conceived before it's offered to me but if not and I don't take it there will be questions from family and friends! What are your thoughts on it?

MammaJ21 · 12/04/2021 19:51

Just jumping on after seeing some posts about the vaccine. What's everyone's thoughts on having the vaccine whilst TTC?

KatieLooLa · 12/04/2021 17:17

@minthumbugs I live on the Isle of Man, guess we’re slightly ahead with the vaccine as the population is so small compared to UK, am sure it won’t be too long till you get yours x

minthumbugs · 12/04/2021 14:20

Yeah exactly @KatieLooLa! It definitely helps to be able to see the positives and that is a BIG one. TTC just now even without all the personal circumstances seems pretty uncertain and scary. I'm nowhere near being offered the vaccine yet so just trying to take each day as it comes! That will be great once you get the ball rolling with tests, it will be good to get some control. X

Awwww @kaylsd that's lovely. Lol at your ovaries, wee pests!! They need to get it together so that we're awwwing at your beautiful baba in 9 months time, come on!!! X

@Galt21 we are all here to pick each other up on the bad days and for some encouragement. It helps to be in it together with other people (who are not your OH lol) x

KatieLooLa · 12/04/2021 13:56

@justwant2beamum We’ve been trying on and off for just over a year now. We were either DTD at the wrong time or skipping a cycle at the start. Probably put things on pause till we’ve both had the booster vaccine and go on from there x

@kaylsd I think you’re right that investigating our fertility will give a bit of comfort if we know why nothing is happening. It’s comforting to know that I’m not alone and there’s other couples struggling with TTC x

Galt21 · 12/04/2021 13:35

Thanks so much @kaylsd your kind message gave me a lift yesterday to read over again. I have been feeling very much out of sorts with the past month or two. The tiredness, increased appetite and headaches has steered me towards making an appointment tomorrow with my GP to arrange a full blood test. My period being 5 days late is now another cause of concern to me as I've always been so regular. You are right though in what you say about torturing ourselves, I need to be kinder to myself, I've been so hard on myself for years with regret and self anger. Thanks again I wish you the very best ❤️

kaylsd · 12/04/2021 13:33

@minthumbugs

Omg good on mr *@kaylsd*!! Hopefully that will make them back off now. That must be so strange that they look so alike!

Sorry @KatieLooLa :( nothing worse than a double whammy. It's good at least you know what's happening now and you have certainty you're moving on to the next cycle - fresh start! Hope you're ok. X x

@minthumbugs it is abit strange at times but you can tell them apart despite having similar features, they have total different personalities too.. my hub is the easy going funny person which is the blessing out of the two but I may be just bias ;) I was well proud when he stuck up for us yesterday.. I think it's been brewing for sometime though 🙈

My friend just gave birth yesterday to a beautiful little girl, absolutely beautiful 😍 talk about feeling broody today, my non compliant ovaries are aching at the thought 🥺😂😂😂

kaylsd · 12/04/2021 13:30

@KatieLooLa sending hugs sweetheart, I know it gets harder each month that passes but each new cycle is a new chance to catch that egg! Me and hubs are in the starting of being investigated about our fertility me being the indicator maybe why it's not happened yet, if that's what your considering doing with your partner then you might find comfort if you find anything / or not find anything which either way can be reassuring for you both going forward with TTC 😘 either way we're here for you :) xx

justwant2beamum · 12/04/2021 12:32

@KatieLooLa that's a good way to look at it. How long have you been trying? Xx

KatieLooLa · 12/04/2021 12:21

@minthumbugs I’m ok, at least now I can go get my vaccination without worrying about anything. One step closer to being able to visit family again! So there is a positive to the negative x

@Veronika13 if you do try OPK’s I’d recommend Clearblue ones as they’re easier to read, I’d tried some cheap ones last cycle and felt confused with the results x

@justwant2beamum it’s fine really! Obviously part of me is a little upset but as I said with having vaccine coming up it was better that it didn’t happen this time around x

Other half and I have decided to get some fertility tests done once we’ve both had our vaccinations and see what’s going on. Nervous but it’ll be good to know why it’s taken so long to get pregnant x

minthumbugs · 12/04/2021 11:28

@Veronika13 I just started using OPKs this time TTC. Used them before for contraception. People find them different but I actually like using them because it makes me feel like I have more control over my body and what's happening! Glad you're feeling better and ready to go for ovulation. X

justwant2beamum · 12/04/2021 11:21

Sorry @KatieLooLa 🙁

Veronika13 · 12/04/2021 10:20

@KatieLooLa

So took a test this morning, wiped after myself and there was AF. Bit of a waste of a test but oh well! I’m surprisingly ok about AF, kinda just glad to have an answer I think, even if it wasn’t the best one x
Sorry to hear, I got mine yesterday (tested the day before). This means ovulation next Sunday! 😀 I felt sad but feel okay now. Tempted to do okp (?) ovulation sticks as so far I've only used Flo period tracking app x
@kaylsd what kind of twin is your hubby? Is there any possibility of you having twins? So hopefully now you are in a TWW! Excited to see what happens. X

@lucea87 ooooh I was going to ask what kind of twins they are. You will be reading up all about them now! X

@Seraphim87 maybe you got a higher peak and ovulated later than you thought. That's frustrating being in limbo! Would your doctor bring you in for any testing if you gave them a phone?

@CycloGoose that's brilliant! It's so original. I would love to run away and get married and not tell anyone but DP is not interested, he sees marriage as a bit of paper we don't need 🤔😂 spoilsport! Love the dog names. Your body might just be adjusting, gearing up to catch the egg!
@minthumbugs I'm not too sure about his twin type in terms of the specifics I've just asked him and he just shrugged, all I know they are down as non identical twins although was both same gender, they do look so alike it's unreal his stubble is getting abit long and I've said to him he's gonna have to sort it out soon because it makes his features look even more similar to his brother it's a strange thing sometimes 😂😩😩 in terms of twins for me darling non run in my family, and Adam (my hub) is the only set of twins on his side, the only likelyhood of me having twins would be linked towards clomid (apparently if I have to have clomid it increases chance of multiple pregnancies) or anything along those lines :') xx

kaylsd · 11/04/2021 21:09
@minthumbugs it was totally extra and totally awesome. We tried to do something traditional for the olds on the Friday but MIL didn't think it was good enough. The Saturday was totally mint though and everyone (including MIL -FFS) loved it. We did so much ourselves but it was definitely extra extra. We did a full weekend where people could camp etc and a fair few friends could stay in bunk beds etc for same price as a 'normal' wedding. I got my main dress from Oxfam. Was chuffed.
@KatieLooLa I have read about cycles changing with different supplements. I'm on CD16 and not ovulated yet which is late for me as I normally have a short cycle. I've added some other supplements this month though AND not long since MC so I'm not getting too stressed. I've got it all crossed it's positive for you.
Well @kaylsd the only other pregnancy related dream I've had was actually for you with vividly seeing you posting on here to say you were pregnant at last so I'm sure it's coming for you. We just don't know when! In terms of me, we've totally failed on the SMEP. Should've been yesterday but my nose was just streaming by nighttime and hubs wasn't feeling it in the morning. Even this morning we had to have a little break and get back to it 🤣🤣🤣 pressure starting to get to us I think. We're having a little holiday from tomorrow though so if keep getting delayed ovulation, at least it can be holiday fun! Thank you for your comments on my dress. I think I felt more comfortable in that cheap one than the more expensive one I got off Oxfam. I'll post that too for you! I looked a bit wide in that one. Should have had it taken in. Where you going to shop for yours? My folks are funny with the dog names. They're all abstract nouns 😂 Hope, Joy, Mercy etc 🤣
Your chart is absolutely nuts this month. Don't really know what to say! The OvuSense is supposed to be good for pcos as is the Mira but they're pricey. All the love and baby dust.
The Olsen twins are fraternal non identical twins as well! Who knew!
@seraphim87 I think Kayls has said it all but good luck xxc
I'm hoping this slight delay is just my body cooking up a perfect little egg and a lush, thick endometrium!! 🤞🤞😉
@CycloGoose your dress choices are so cute I love them! I don't think I'm going to go too expensive but I don't know where or what style I would end up getting incase I have a little bump, I would predict floaty if I have a bump as my original dress was fitted but if no bump I've always loved the thought of a satin type look! So always something to look forward to! You looked beautiful on your day 🥰 fingers and toes crossed your egg is just brewing lovely in time for your time away with your partner hehe! Maybe have a little time off to recharge your batteries to go again with smep part two hehe!

My hub had a stern word with my inlaws tonight as yet again they made another baby comment, this conversation went on the lines of everyone's pregnant around us all apart from Kayleigh.. and then my hub piped up and went along the lines of it's actually not her fault nor mine and it's non of your business but we may not even be able to have children and you know what if that's the case then that's how it is but until then can you shut up on about it as you don't know how it feels on our end.... I was like drop the mic boom kind of vibes when I heard about it 😂😂😂😂✨ I have my blood tests and swabs on Tuesday so hoping for some plan as to what can happen going forward once they come in :) 🤞🏻 until then I'm enjoying watching my temperatures do the strangest pattern ever and seeing if I can rock triple numbers this time of a cycle day as my highest last time was 75 and I'm on 49😂😂😂

kaylsd · 11/04/2021 21:03
@kaylsd I’ve already got confirmed PCOS but I’ve only recently moved to the area so medical stuff is all new and I’m not sure whether just to contact to them. I stopped taking the pill in January and I’ve never in my life had a normal cycle so I think I’m just in denial that things are going be pretty tedious
I would just contact them as they may schedule you day 21 bloods to make sure your ovulating with PCOS diagnosis they may do it sooner than later :) xx

soontobeamama · 11/04/2021 15:55

@CycloGoose your wedding dresses are both fabulous - you look beautiful in both and it sounds like you had an amazing wedding! xx

CycloGoose · 11/04/2021 13:13

Ahhh @Seraphim87 OPKs are notoriously unhelpful with pcos. If you can shell out for OvuSense, it's good. Think there's a 30% offer ATM if you Google it. Good luck chick xxx
