Welcome to the thread @CloseYourMouthLynn @Lexber @02Carol

@Marvellouslymadmum your iron improving is great, but yeah I doubt they'd do the other tests unless they're referring you.

Some should have been done on day 3, yeah, but my GP did the same thing twice, like they aren't even aware.

I need a new private facility because £70 sounds like a bargain, they charged a lot where I went. Did AMH the same time.

AFC was anytime of the month when I went to have it done at a private clinic, they didn't seem fussed which day (it happened to be around O day so they could see the CL)

@Noodella18 feeling sorry for your dp i won't lie lol. I've always counted cd 1 from when I get any blood at all because I know the next day will be full flow, so day 1 and 5 for me are usually very light, but I count them.

I'm glad the wank station is catching on @Kitekat81 lmao

Kitekat81 · 11/03/2021 21:36

@Marvellouslymadmum that is rather than doing it in the 'wank station' as @thislittlebird would put it 🤣🤣🤣

Kitekat81 · 11/03/2021 21:33

Hello and welcome to all newbies! 👋

@KG1145 have fingers crossed for you for a stronger line tomorrow! 🤞🤞🤞

@Marvellouslymadmum I think it differs where you are in the country, but I didn't get an AFC scan until I was referred to the fertility clinic, and they said that I couldn't get AMH tested on the NHS so I paid £125 for that one 🙈 (wish I hadn't as the result was bloody awful 😣) Also I would be wary of home SA tests - the NHS / fertility clinics won't accept the result so he'll have to do it again anyway. If you live within an hour of the lab he should be able to "produce his specimen" at home and then drop it off

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 21:23

@climbershell hmm no idea! I think that's why they didn't work that well for me

climbershell · 11/03/2021 21:10

One step, so not fmu, dunno if could do second. I mean I can pee, not drink anything and still pee 10 mins later, dunno if that would be ok? I'm thinking my after work pee will be best, tbh I never drink nearly as much as I should in the day (partly coz I have to generally pee in people's shrubs lol)

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 21:04

@climbershell which opk are you using? I found the strips difficult as you're not supposed to use fmu and I drink a lot of water during the day but the clearblue you can use fmu which was way easier

climbershell · 11/03/2021 20:59

Cd6 today, planned dtd as we haven't since last fertile window!! Need to clear out the dead sperm... But I am so so exhausted! But I think we will lol

Then planned cd8, 10,12-14/15

I think I'll start opk-ing cd8 I think. My first time doing this. I pee so frequently tho, so I'm worried it won't work well. I think I'll have to do when I get in from work and try not to drink much or pee 2hrs before..

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 20:40

@02Carol wow that really was a bargain!

That's me @Sleeeeeepy 😂 you think I'd learn from my autocorrect mistakes but no! Glad your body seems to be finally getting back to some normality though

Sleeeeeepy · 11/03/2021 20:00

Welcome new ladies! This is such a great thread, though I struggle to keep up with it!

Pleased to see @Marvellouslymadmum has our foreign policy sorted 😂

My LH has been high for weeks, it's really odd. FRERs are fully negative now though and the bleeding has finally stopped so hopefully my body is resetting in some strange way. Looking forward to a normal cycle at some stage!

02Carol · 11/03/2021 19:59

@MarvelouslyMadMum Thanks for the eBay tip, I like the CB tests, I tried it for the first time last cycle, I managed to pick up 2 boxes in Superdrug reduced to £2 each!
So I'll be keeping my eyes peeled in there 👀

02Carol · 11/03/2021 19:56

@Noodella18 I start counting when there's need for sanitary products.

02Carol · 11/03/2021 19:54

@Noodella18 🤣🤣 That's the spirit! I love it.
Nice to have a cycle buddy, we will go through the 2ww together!

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 19:30

@Twelvestars yes it's all a bit of a minefield isn't it! I was hoping to get a bit more nhs help, I'll let you know once they've got back to me

Lexber · 11/03/2021 19:28

Thanks for the lovely welcomes Smileit was the hormonal coil and I was still regular 28 days.
I'm currently trying to figure out if this bleed is just because I had it out as I know that's possible or if it's brought on my period early?

I have bought some tests on Amazon to see if I can figure out my cycle and ovulation - it kind of makes everything feel real!

We haven't told anyone we are ttc, so this place will be a god send for me!
I feel scared, excited and nervous all at once and can't wait to get started as soon as I can...

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 19:27

@Marvellouslymadmum Once the test tap is open, it’s gushing 😅😂 I’m only just beginning to realize that myself from my experience! Anyways updates please when they get back to you!

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 19:25

@Katiekattty my AF is done as well! Officially gonna be dtd starting tomorrow and for the next 8 days 😅 (I still test with CB for ovulation - it’s become an addiction)

@KG1145 I also saw that line!!! It’s a bit faint but the fact that your camera captured it then it must be more visible in real. I would definitely retest but not with a digital until you’re 12 or 13 dpo or unless it’s possible to go in for a hcg blood test? And yes contact your consultant about the progesterone. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 19:24

@Noodella18 men are a nightmare when they're ill aren't they?! Good luck with your dtd!

@Twelvestars yes this is the problem so she's done the fsh and Lh but on day 21 instead of three and said there's no need for any further tests as everything's ok as far as primary care is concerned! But I'm pretty sure I'm entitled to get either those done again on the correct day or amh and the afc scan! If they won't do it I'll have to pay privately which will be £70 for the scan I believe and around the same for an amh plus I think we will end up paying for an sa too as the oh is reluctant to talk to anyone about it and that way he can do it at home etc so that would be another £70 🙄

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 19:16

@Marvellouslymadmum you’re right about FSH and LH being taken during day 2 - day 5. But AMH can be tested anytime. Yes let’s see what their response is. I would inquire about AMH and maybe redoing FSH LH on day 3? And even an ultrasound for AFC (day 3)! I know I’m crazy but I am the type that would have all angles covered. I’m gonna do all those starting next week.

Noodella18 · 11/03/2021 19:13

I'm over the sickness bug but my partner is still feeling rough! I've told him that he's just going to have to lie back and think of England for the next 4 nights cause we are not missing ovulation!

Having said that these bloody opks are a nightmare, I haven't had a score above 0.3 and they are all marked as 'low' on the premom app. I had a bit of ewcm today and have been feeling fruity so I guess I'll just take that as a sign that ovulation is coming... Just looked back at my calendar and my cycle has been 28 days or 30 days - but depending on when I count it as starting - do you consider that it's started if you wipe and it's a bit pink, or when things actually get going enough that you need to use a pad?

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 19:12

Hi @Lexber welcome here! Sorry I don’t know about coils at all though!

Welcome @02Carol I am 37 and ttc #1. There’s a couple of us here trying for our first. I haven’t told anyone either except my sister (she’s a doctor) and the ladies here. Keeping me very sane and patient.

Noodella18 · 11/03/2021 19:07

Hi @02Carol ! We're cycle buddies :) I'm on CD 13 but we've both had a sickness bug so have only managed to have sex once!

@Lexber welcome :) was yours the hormonal coil? I read that your cycle should go straight back to normal because the amount of hormones involved is low, much lower than the pill apparently. I had a copper coil so had normal periods with mine.

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 19:02

@Twelvestars I should really learn to read what I've written before I press post not after! 😂 I've sent an email requesting the results myself and it's with the regular gp. She did fsh and Lh as well but the blood was all taken on day 21 the same time as progesterone and oestrogen and I'm sure that should have been taken day 3. I'll have a look and see what they are when I get the results through though and see what they say.

Hi @Lexber and welcome, I too have two teenagers from a previous relationship and we are ttc our first together. As far as I am aware it will depend if the coil you had is one with or without hormones as that's what effects the cycle most and the one with will take longer to return to normal, temps are easy you just take it at the same time every morning before you get up with a bbt thermometer (about £10) and out in an app and the rest is plotted for you then you kind of grasp it as you go along, opk are helpful for you to know when your cycle is back to normal and on going when you ovulate, a lot of people use the cheap strips like Femometer or easy at home but I couldn't get on with the damn things so use the clear blue digital advance connected which is expensive but easy to read and more accurate. Plus I get mine on eBay brand new and sealed with a short shelf life for less than half price. Hope that helps

Hi @02Carol and welcome, lots of lovely ladies to chat to on here, we haven't told anyone we are ttc either so this really helps.

I'm on approx #37 been ttc since April 2018 had two mc and two cp and I'm 42 we are currently having tests investigatingwhats going on or not going on lol

02Carol · 11/03/2021 18:29

Evening ladies, I've been following for a couple of days.

Just turned 38, TTC#1, 3rd Cycle since began trying, CD12, begin testing with CB O on 15th, also trying to DTD every other day since AF ended.

Not told anyone TTC, so this and you ladies are keeping me sane. Thank you in advance!

Looking forward to seeing BFP's!!!

Lexber · 11/03/2021 18:12

Hi all,
Newbie here, I've been hovering about since yesterday not sure if to post yet or not? As I only had my coil out yesterday so very new to this.

I'm 35 in the summer - hope that lets me join you lovely ladies??
I have 2 daughters aged 14 and 10 from a previous relationship and my partner and I have decided we would like a baby together (his first) so it's pretty scary as all new to me (the girls were lovely surprises!)
I don't have a clue about opk or temp charting or anything ttc related so excuse my lack of knowledgeable stupid questions I'm likely to ask..
I've been bleeding since I had my removal yesterday first thing. It eased last night but started fresh this morning and reminded me of a light period- I've had the coil for 9 years so it's been a while!
I have no clue if this will mess up my previous 28 day cycle (spotted slightly on coil or nothing) or I will drop back into it? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

X

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 18:10

@Marvellouslymadmum now your typo was indeed major(ly funny) haha. Great for your iron improvement and the fact you’ve ovulated. About AMH, I’ve read that the reason some doctors are reluctant to test for it is that it’s not always indicative of one’s odds of conceiving. Also can they not email your results with actual levels/numbers? Was that with your regular GP? Or private gyno? AFC I think would need to be done on day 3 of your cycle. AMH any time. Did they also test for FSH? Perhaps that’s why she wasn’t too keen on AMH cause FSH and LH together are somewhat indicative and if the FSH:LH ratio is 1:1 and within range for your age there would be no need for AMH. That’s just me guessing based on my research.
