Just skimmed the mother's day stuff and I avoided it all tbh. Sorry you had a rough time @sickofthisyear.

I broke down at the end of Sunday. I saw my pregnant friend post a pic of her mum and her on instagram and it broke me. She's due this month.

I've never had a Father's Day to celebrate, used to have a Mother's Day with my grandmother (raised me, dead now) and my relationship with my mother has never been so bad. She never lived with me after age 3, last year she didn't come to my wedding and it's proving really hard to get past it all. I just really would like my own little family and not just this mess.

I do have a family with my husband, but you know what I mean.

Loladoodle · 16/03/2021 12:38

@KG1145 did you do a digi yet? Maybe that would help now that af is due and levels should be high enough for a digi now? Or can you ask Gp to do blood test for levels so that you can start taking progesterone?

thislittlebird · 16/03/2021 12:36

@sickofthisyear

Also while everyone is sharing- I gave up alcohol immediately last year when we decided to TTC. Hadn't done that this time, but going to now. Period starting imminently 😔 But have to weigh that against how long you're planning to try for and how much you'll miss alcohol. It could be a long time to deny yourself of anything nice. I was lucky to conceive quickly on cycle #2 last year (although the pregnancy ended at 16 weeks) - if I'd been trying a long time I'm fairly sure I'd have allowed myself a drink or two by now!
I haven't given up much really. It's been so long that I can't quite bring myself to do it. But on the plus side I don't drink a lot anyway (and when I tried to have a gin last night it tasted gross, the drugs I'm on maybe?).

I probably should cut back on caffeine, but I don't really have any other vices and it feels harsh having to curb it. Ugh.

selina37 · 16/03/2021 12:34

@Loladoodle yes it will be the gins as opposed to anything else I reckon 🙄🍸

@KG1145 I'd have the tests anyway. Nothing to lose I guess, is there? You can at least talk about your fears if just for gaining a little comfort. If the test is darker then that's great! Try to stay calm xxx

thislittlebird · 16/03/2021 12:34

@Kitekat81

Totally agree with the above. Sometimes in all this we focus so much on what we don't have (a baby!) but forget what we do have. Three years ago I was 36, single and having counselling because I thought I'd missed my chance to meet someone and have a family. I was also having lots of problems with my skin (*@thislittlebird* will understand this) and I thought I was unloveable Sad Then at 37 I met my partner and just clicked straight away, within a month of our first date we were living together, and the rest is history! I would so love for us to have a family together, and I know he will be a wonderful father, so I really want to have tried everything we can for this. But if it doesn't work out, and we don't get our family, I know we'll be just fine as we have each other 😊
Yeah, all of this. I'm so focussed on it and I do lose sight of what I have. I've been lucky to meet a really great man and I'm not The Single One anymore.

I think one of the things that makes this harder still is I know he would like to be a dad, and I know he would be a great dad. I don't want that not to happen, for me and also for him.

Need to catch up on the thread now...

KG1145 · 16/03/2021 12:21

I've got my day 1-3 fertility blood tests today at 1. Just spoke to the Dr about progesterone test who was pretty useless and told me not to take too much folic acid (I am a carrier of the mthfr gene so take a higher dose) ....

I'm so anxious about CP at the moment. My period is due today and I've had some cramps no blood. Yesterday I took a test and it was still positive and darker so that's reassuring , I'm just working myself up.

Is there any point in having the blood tests today, will they shoe anything about how viable the pregnancy is... It's infertility day 1 - 3 test, full blood count and liver function....

Katiekattty · 16/03/2021 11:40

I updated the Premom app today as DTD yesterday and now it says test twice a day ovulation in 5 days but Clue has me ovulation in 7 days.

Loladoodle · 16/03/2021 11:33

@selina37 if no bfps by the weekend will def be a few gins!!

selina37 · 16/03/2021 10:54

@Loladoodle can't thank you enough for recommending it! 💐 God a BFP would be so awesome, but I can't see it's going to happen! I'm expecting AF at the weekend too. But if it comes, at least I know my cycle seems to be getting better!

Loladoodle · 16/03/2021 08:14

@selina37 that good ole b6! 🙏 it keeps the spotting away with a nice bfp this week for you!!!!!

Lovely reading about how everyone met partners and found happiness, especially after tough times/relationships. I am so grateful every day to have met mine, it was just one of those things where everything aligned and seemed so easy right from the beginning (even though my circumstances were far from easy at the time). When you know you know!

All usual pre af symptoms going on here, expecting af at the weekend if not before! Had a random 22 day cycle last month and on cd22 today so hoping I don’t get af soon and have another weird short cycle.

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/03/2021 07:31

@Misty84 😂 I tend to eat the core first because it's so chewy and bitter then the rest of the outside bit to take the taste away lol

Misty84 · 16/03/2021 07:25

Gosh, pineapple first thing in the morning is like eating tough old boots! Relieved it’s only eaten around ovulation!

Farfaraway1 · 16/03/2021 02:39

@Fredsmama sorry to hear about your CP - I had one last year after a D&C so I got my hopes up horribly just to have it dashed away. GP wasn’t much help either and didn’t seem very knowledgeable about CP’s. Fingers crossed for you your next cycle is the one! This will be cycle 8 for us! Here’s hoping....

Magnum99 · 15/03/2021 23:24

Oh I've completely missed the stories about how we met our partners - I've not been very active on here in the last week or 2 in an attempt to not get obsessed with TTC.

I also met my hubby online. We'd both just come out of long term relationships, my son was only a few months old, tbh I think I just wanted a bit of male attention. We spoke to each other for weeks, maybe months and then one night I just invited him over (in hindsight not very wise) but I felt like I'd known him for years. Then our first real date was a few days later at the Christmas markets.
We were on and off for the first year as we just weren't ready for something serious after our previous break ups but then something just clicked and 10 years later we're still here going strong. It's not all been smooth sailing but the more we go through together the stronger we become. He's the most loyal guy who will do absolutely anything for me, our kids and our extended families 😊

Fredsmama · 15/03/2021 21:44

@Magnum99 oh it’s a complete mind field isn’t it. And so stressful, I find when ttc I become I complete maniac . Analyse every twinge, spot, symptom. I’m glad your GP is pro active though and has organised a scan for you so quickly, they sound brilliant. I hope that it is a one off for you and that you get some peace of mind from tomorrow’s scan. I thk you are just right to feel that way this month. I kinda feel like taking the month off tbh after last month and then I won’t have this balls to deal with if it happens again but then I know I’ll be kicking myself after if I don’t try so god only knows. I usually get a static on cd12 but thking that might be pushed back a bit this month??? Will try try try not to over thk but who am I kidding lol.

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/03/2021 21:43

@KG1145 thank you! Isn't it's funny how you can just meet someone you weren't expecting to meet and it's just obvious, lovely story

KG1145 · 15/03/2021 21:39
@KG1145 glad your line is getting darker 🤞🏻 for you, af has arrived for me today so on to the next month for me!

I didn't add anything before about my partner and how we got together so here's us - we had both been married for 12 years in horrible relationships then finally separated and got bored sitting home in the evenings with the kids so on a whim joined pof to chat to people. We found each other (and some right old weirdos!) and started chatting, spoke for 6 months every day but hadn't met yet, then one night I went to a gig for a small band I liked and sent him a pic of me and my friend there - it was his cousins band! He came down to the pub we were in and we knew straight away. The rest is history really, moved in together after 10 months and it's now been just over 5 years - good old online dating lol
@Marvellouslymadmum what a lovely story of how you both met! :D Fingers crossed for you this month!

As for us, I'd come out of a long relationship/short marriage that didn't end well and had just sworn off men after a series of disasterous first dates. My partner and I met through a joint friend from Norway who was crashing on my sofa for a few nights. We hit it off immediately, had moved in together within six months and well the rest is history!

Magnum99 · 15/03/2021 21:21

@Fredsmama I'm not 100% it was a CP, I did 2 tests which had the faintest lines, DH thinks I was seeing things. Could have been evap/indentation lines. But I was 3 days late (never ever late) and felt pregnant.

I seemed to have a pretty normal AF for 6-7 days which seemed to come to an end and then it started again like a fresh AF which lasted about another 5 days. So bled for 11-12 days in total. I was still bleeding a little bit when I was supposed to be coming in to my fertile phase, so god knows what will happen this cycle.

But apparently you're more fertile after a CP so fingers crossed for us this month 🤞🏻

Strangely I'm actually feeling more laid back about it this month, last month I was totally convinced I was pregnant and had every symptom going but for whatever reason I wasn't. So this month I'm trying not to symptom spot and I am 100% not testing until AF is officially late. I dread to think how much I spent on tests last month! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/03/2021 21:12

@Magnum99 yes that makes sense then!

Magnum99 · 15/03/2021 21:05

@Marvellouslymadmum just crossed posts, yes almost the same happened to me a few years ago.

Fredsmama · 15/03/2021 21:03

@Magnum99 this is very true. Prob don’t want to commit or be the one to give bad news xx good luck for tomo and hope scan is clear for you xx

Magnum99 · 15/03/2021 21:01

@Fredsmama yeh I thought that may be the case.

Although I was once scanned and told I was told I was 5+3, they could see something but no heartbeat (which is normal at that stage), but I should have been 7+ weeks, but then I miscarried that evening. My point being is I think they sometimes can see something before 6 weeks but maybe don't want to get hopes up and leave expectant mums worried.

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/03/2021 20:58

@Fredsmama it's horrible but yes I know how you feel wanting to get moving to the next cycle, my oh is exactly the same tries to be a bit comforting but ultimately doesn't really know what to do!

@02Carol happy to help! I've not had that on the cb though I've only used them one month so far and had 6 days of flashing before my static

@Magnum99 I don't think they would be able to see much, when I got a bfp four years ago I had an early scan at what we thought was 6.5 weeks, they said it was more likely about 5 weeks as they could see a sac but not a heartbeat yet, the pregnancy unfortunately ended in mc at 7.5 weeks just before I was due another scan but you could definitely mention it anyway!

Fredsmama · 15/03/2021 20:49

@Magnum99 didn’t realise you thk you had a CP last month too. How long did your bleed last? I got a positive test on day of missed period then took period exactly a week later but it stopped on sat and then took off again today 🤷🏼‍♀️
