Hi ladies

I'm 23 and my partner (27) and I are TTC baby #1!

It was our first month trying this month and AF is due 2nd/3rd of March, so far just BFN! My cycle is roughly 26/27 days! But didn't expect to get pregnant first cycle so I'm feeling ok 👌🏼

Anyone else TTC baby no 1 with a similar cycle? 🥰 xx

Argh didn't work! Google 'kegels pregnancy nhs' :)

taytay2020 · 11/03/2021 22:35

@genevive123 pelvic floor exercises. I recommend googling it! They seem to be a well-kept secret. The exercises are pretty easy (certainly much less time and effort than going for a run!) and help prevent the incontinence that often happens after pregnancy trashes your pelvic floor muscles. I haven't tried to add a link here before but here goes and fingers crossed: www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/womens-health/what-are-pelvic-floor-exercises/

Genevive123 · 11/03/2021 21:43

@taytay2020 what on earth is that?? X

Ooh I just remembered a good bit of prep we should all do, starting now! Kegels! I've downloaded a couple of free apps and was really committed for a fortnight back in January. Standards have slipped since then but I'm trying to get back on it this month Grin

taytay2020 · 11/03/2021 21:34

@lisamxxx An early scan hadn't occurred to me but I don't think I'd want one - I'd hate to get bad news from anyone other than my doctor. But who knows, I might feel differently when it actually comes to it. This whole process seems to be a big exercise in patience and positive thinking!

lisamxxx · 11/03/2021 20:22

@Genevive123 yeah I'm sure most people feel nervous in the first trimester, I'm actually hoping I get some strong symptoms next time as weirdly I think it will help me feel more pregnant if that makes sense? I don't even know if I would want to announce it straight after the 12 week scan I think I'd maybe wait a couple more weeks but I totally get it when you say you'll feel nervous the whole pregnancy because I think I will be the same xx

lisamxxx · 11/03/2021 20:13

@Farmer123 I know!! I honestly can't wait! It's weird part of me feels so nervous but then part of me feels so excited. I'm just so excited for the day I'd get to announce it to the world. So weird I'm talking like this and I'm not even pregnant yet 😂

@Kty09 thank you!! That would be such a lovely surprise for them and 9 weeks to me seems like the perfect time to get the first scan

Genevive123 · 11/03/2021 20:11

@lisamxxx I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way I think it's quite common actually isn't it ? As soon as you hit that 12 week mark it's slightly better but still worrying !! Think the whole pregnancy I'm going to be a nervous wreck !! X

lisamxxx · 11/03/2021 20:03

@Genevive123 I'm the same, as much as I really want to get that positive test, I am absolutely dreading the first 12 weeks because of how worried I'm going to be. A couple of scans before the 12 week mark would definitely help I think if you're worried it would break the weeks up a bit

Farmer123 · 11/03/2021 20:00

@lisamxxx Yes, same! It’s so exciting to think of booking that appointment; hopefully soon for us all!

Kty09 · 11/03/2021 20:00

@Neom87 I haven’t really told anyone only one friend who confessed the same to me at the time so it’s been really good to talk about things. I just want it to be a big surprise first baby in the family on both sides!
@lisamxxx welcome to the chat ☺️ I have thought about getting a private scan early as I would probably want to surprise my family with a photo! Would probably wait until about 9 weeks so there is something to see on the picture I think ..

My OPK was at 40% tonight - I’ve done a bit of research and seen that some people get a few peaks and some get a gradual rise so I’m hoping I get another and haven’t missed it!
This is quite a good page to explain premom.com/blogs/how-to-use-ovulation-tests/surges-and-peaks-gradual-onset?sscid=31k5_b6xj6&

lisamxxx · 11/03/2021 19:55

@Neom87 yeah I definitely think I'm gonna keep everything as private as I can for now I feel it's stressful the now as it is wondering when it will happen! Just got to keep positive hun I am sure we will all get those 2 lines one day soon. At least he is taking an interest my partner was asking me if I felt anything like 1 day after the first time we tried 😂

@Farmer123 I know I'm the same 12 weeks would be such a long wait especially if you find out early!! I think I'd try go for one at 8-9 weeks just to make sure they would definitely see something and hear a heartbeat. I've heard so many stories about people going for ones at like 6 weeks and the sonographer not being able to see anything because they are too early, I think my anxiety would go through the roof if that happened

Genevive123 · 11/03/2021 19:43

@lisamxxx I think I will pay for an early scan or maybe even a couple haha there's no way I'd be able to wait 12 weeks I'm such a worrier anyway xx

OP posts:
Farmer123 · 11/03/2021 19:34

I’ve told 2 close friends and my mum - I felt like I wanted a bit of advice and they’re good at not keeping on so i don’t feel the pressure!

I think I’d have to do an early scan; 12 weeks wouldn’t be possible for me since I struggle every day of the two week wait 😂😂

Neom87 · 11/03/2021 19:20

@lisamxxx I was also bothered about feeling extra pressure if it doesn't happen straight away, and I'm 34 the beginning of April so it may not do. Its wierd talking about myself like that, like I'm old! Realistically I still feel about 20!

I hadn't really thought that far, but I wouldn't be opposed to it, not sure I would want to wait 12 weeks!

I only have the hcg cheapy strips like the opks, no 'proper' tests in. I am going to try to resist testing early, as if its positive I just want it to be blazing! All good intentions though, we shall see when I'm in that situation!

Funnily enough my DH today must have been doing his own bit if googling, which surprised me! He was like if you are pregnant we won't find out straight away will we, we have to wait until your missed period! Grin I tried explained about FRERs to him, but it just surprised me he had looked into this stuff as its usually me giving him science lessons!

Genevive123 · 11/03/2021 19:19

@Neom87 oh I'm glad it wasn't just me thank you lovely :)

I told my mum we were thinking about trying this year but haven't told her when haha !! Otherwise I'll get asked every month

I'm soo hoping it happens before my partners mums birthday as we're pretty close and think she'll cry tears of joy !! X

lisamxxx · 11/03/2021 18:52

This is a bit early to be asking but when it does happen is anyone planning on getting an early scan privately?

lisamxxx · 11/03/2021 18:50

Thank you @Neom87 it's really good to be able to talk to people that are in the same position I've not told anyone that we are trying. I'd rather just keep it to myself as I feel like it would add more pressure for me personally and I've decided this time when I fall pregnant again I'm only telling my parents and my partners before the 12 week mark just due to what happened with me last time.

@taytay2020 it's so hard isn't it! I swore to myself I would just wait and see if af was late but about a week before I thought to myself I would try test the day af was due (if it never came on that day) but then I ended up getting it a couple of days earlier than expected so that was that. I've only got one cheap Tesco test I've had randomly from last year so I'll need to buy some but again trying to tell myself to only by a test if af is late but then part of me wants to go buy some of the first response early detection tests as well and just test early

Neom87 · 11/03/2021 18:49

@taytay2020 I don't think there's a right or wrong is different for everyone.

I haven't told anybody, in one way I would love to, so that I can actually talk about it, but on the other hand I don't want to take the suprise away when it does (hopefully) happen!

taytay2020 · 11/03/2021 18:25

@neom87 I've told three friends but no family (my mum would totally blab!). Two of my close friends have young children so they have good advice, although I definitely wouldn't go into graphic detail with them! 3rd friend is better at graphic details but having her own conception struggles so even though she knows about it (and is soooo excited) I feel like it could be insensitive to talk about it loads and loads. I have probably told too many people! But no regrets really.

taytay2020 · 11/03/2021 18:18

@lisamxxx So far I've waited it out, sort of! Didn't test in January despite having alllll the symptoms. Did test last week despite knowing full well it'd be negative. However in my defence I'd been expecting AF the day before so it seemed sensible to me to just make sure, and the two tests in my cupboard had just expired so it didn't really seem like a waste! (Before that I had literally not taken a test in 2+ years!)

I'm hoping this is a good sign of willpower for next month but we'll see lol. I do have allllll the tests from amazon now.

Neom87 · 11/03/2021 18:14

@genevive123 I have had it happen often where I think my period has finished, nothing for a few days and then it's like the old blood clearing itself out. Hopefully it's just that happening.

Welcome @lisamxxx I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage, but glad you have found our little thread, I think we have a nice bunch here to support each other along the way Smile

Interested to know if any of you have told any family/friends that they are TTC? X

Genevive123 · 11/03/2021 16:13

@Kty09 ooh I've just read that too! Think I panicked as my LH level is going up so slowly but I remember this happened last month too and I panicked (not the blood but the slow LH rising)

@Timetobeamummy thank you lovely I think you're right where I'm focusing on it so much I'm noticing different things happening !!

@taytay2020 thank you haha you have all put my mind at rest!! Xx

Kty09 · 11/03/2021 14:18

@Genevive123 I’ve just been googling about my high LH surge today (obviously 😂) and I came across something on here that said you can get spotting a couple of days before ovulation due to oestrogen levels dropping which can cause endometriosis to shed - this could possibly be what you experienced?

@Timetobeamummy ah thank you, yes I will check later too. I’m hoping it’s not the peak just yet, I think the follicles aren’t mature enough to ovulate this early?! Plus DH isn’t at home!! Hopefully I get a peak again in the next couple of days!

lisamxxx · 11/03/2021 13:51

@Farmer123 thank you!! I've been keeping track of my cycles for about a year as well on the Flo app and it is usually pretty accurate on when I'm due on so hopefully it's the same with ovulation. It's good to know you find it pretty accurate though!! I keep telling myself I won't get sucked in to the obsession of testing yet but it's so hard! I am not looking forward to another 2ww just have to keep telling myself I won't test until af is late.

@taytay2020 looks like we are cycle buddies!! I am hoping this month will go a bit quicker than last but I doubt it. The 2ww is the worst can't help but constantly try and symptom spot. Hopefully this is our month!! Do you test early or just wait it out?

@Timetobeamummy that's good that it is the same as when you're testing!! Hopefully mine is pretty accurate then as I've been putting in my cycle info for a good while now!!
