Hi all, its been busy on here lately!

Glad to hear the knitting is going well, I have started a little cap for dd on the basis that ds's scarf went well but haven't touched it for ages due to ms. Managed my first trip to sainsburys in three weeks today as feeling better only to feel very faint in freezer aisle. A really good friend rushed up to me to start a chat and I had to say 'sorry can't stop, going to faint' and rush off in opposite direction. How mortifying, I then had to make grovelling apologetic phone call when got home, although she was lovely and has now volunteered to do my shopping!

Gilly - are you within a reasonable distance of the hospital? If so, dh found it much more agreeable to run sample in from home rather than try to produce it at the clinic. BTW - he had lowish count and only OK mobility, but still managed ds eventually, even though we got to top of NHS IFV list twice...

Yes - my tip for casting off is to make sure that you're not knitting too tightly - otherwise it makes it difficult - and the whole row is likely to be a bit tight - better to be slightly on the loose side so that it doesn't pull the rest of whatever you're knitting out of shape.

And if you're casting off in rib, its always much easier to get the next stitch over once you've pulled the wool round to the back as if to do the next knit stich, rather than try to pull it over directly after the purl stitch. Don't like casting off in rib though...

I enjoy cable patters - the only problem with them is that you probably need a larger % of brain power to be thinking about them rather than watching TV or talking or similar - and you do need to look at what you're doing - unlike more straightfoward knitting. I do like the look of the results though.

Oh, alright nomore and gilly - stripes, rows - I still can't cast off!!

DH is rather about the whole imaginary friends thing - I just tend to go along with it. Ds introduced baby Jack out of the blue (btw, Baby Jack is a boy at the moment!). I must admit that I introduced Freddie monster when we were having problems with 'the monster's coming' type comments and becoming very scared - but ds immediately ensured that Freddie had Jessie as a friend to help.

I very rarely instigate any discussion about any of them - like this morning, I was told that Freddie was making porridge as though I needed to be informed that that was where he was - and as for Baby Jack crying (ds went all the way upstairs to his bedroom and came down 'carrying' Baby Jack between his fingers) - that was the first I knew that he was even in the house this morning!

Ds's favourite toy that he has to cuddle at bedtime is an elephant - Nellie. Its great having 2 as you can smuggle one into the washing machine and still have another one. However, the clean one tends to live in the cupboard in ds's room - so sometimes if we can't find current one, we find that Nellie has been 'hiding' in the cupboard - to great hillarity. Just occasionally the newly washed and dried Nellie doesn't get smuggled into his cupboard soon enough and ds discovers her when already clutching the one that's currently in-use (usually first thing in the morning - or sometimes on the dryer in the bathroom if not sufficiently hidden by other washing...) - so, we have explained that Nellie's sister has come to stay for a bit - ds doesn't seem at all worried that Nellie's sister then goes back to her own home... What is quite interesting is that he was really certain the other day that Nellie was staying at Nellie's sister's and that he had Nellie's sister instead, not Nellie...

Our 'baby Jack' had to be collected from ds's bedroom this morning at breakfast time because he was crying because of the dinosaurs. I told ds to tell him that they all lived a long time ago and that they didn't exist anymore - this seemed to help! Apparently Freddie monster made porridge this morning - luckily, Jessie was content to stay upstairs and come into the bathroom to keep ds company when he got dressed...

Sounds good to me. I like green. Would have gone for the MB in sand, except that they had a special offer on when I ordered and could get significant discount if went for shop stock - so only choice of navy or black. Thought navy a little less severe, and made a cosytoes in navy with dogs paw-print motif all over (lovely and warm, and padded at back due to lack of padding in MB)(used blanket padding underneath for first summer - also worked well as easily washable and replaceable!)

One of the gifts ds was given by friend of mine was a blanked with small mouse toy holding onto the corner that included a rattle - this had cream velour type fabric (lovely and soft) on one side and beautiful stripy cotton on the other, and was big enough to cover him in buggy. It was also great when pushing into the sun when it hadn't yet become the time that the shade netting was appropriate.
