Hello all! How is everyone?

@Makingnumber2 wowww congratulations 🎉 . So exciting to see that line.

@MrsKin90 that’s wonderful news that they have referred you for tests. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I went and had a private fertility check today. I won’t get my results until next week, but the nurses seem to think my ovarian reserve looks good. Especially for my age.

Does anyone know anything about AFC numbers? Do they give you your number by adding the numbers from each ovary together? Or is it the average of the two? Any ideas?

I think I start my FW tomorrow. The nurse said from the scan that I should be ovulating very soon. So here we go again 🙃. At least I have the worst period of the cycle over with. I think I will focus on the soft cups this go around based on your advice @eloiseislost!

X

Oilyoilyoilgob · 02/02/2021 15:55

@Sydney1986x it doesn’t make you a monster it makes you a human! We can of course be delighted and happy for people but also feel anger, envy, sadness etc-all normal feelings, so don’t beat yourself up!

@Makingnumber2 I always really try to not comment re lines but I can definitely see one on that Superdrug one, no squinting needed. Praying you get your sticky bean, especially with what’s going on for you now xx

@MrsKin90 that is fabulous news! Aw I’m so pleased for you and the relief you feel in getting the ball rolling! Whichever way it happens you’ll get your bfp xx

MrsKin90 · 02/02/2021 14:41

Thanks lovely ladies 🥰 definitely feeling very privileged to have such a wonderful GP, she didn't once say anything negative about my weight but was very encouraging as I've lost weight before and I feel really motivated now!
AF hasn't properly started but definitely on the way. Hopefully tomorrow will be CD1 and I'm on my way! I would definitely remained curled in a ball in a dark corner if it wasn't for you all.

Sydney1986x · 02/02/2021 14:24

@Makingnumber2 @Bluey18 @MrsKin90 @AdriannaP thank you all, you’re all bloody amazing 😣 really have found my people on here, who understand!!

@MrsKin90 I am so glad you had a great apt with your doctor and things will be progressing with further testing. I was also really scared about BMI and weight, I thought I’d be fobbed off too but was pleasantly surprised. Xx

eloiseislost · 02/02/2021 13:24

@MrsKin90 That's such amazing news! You are truly very lucky that your doctor is understanding and proactive about testing -you'd think that's the norm but alas, it seems like it's not! And good on you for taking the important step of asking for help, it's not easy to do and you've been very brave! 😘
I hope that, in true Mumsnet fashion, you get your BFP some time during the tests, but even if you don't, you are in the right path. So exciting!
I'm sorry you were feeling low, it's understandable, but I hope that you now have a more positive perspective. 🙂

@MrsKin90 that is such wonderful news the call went well and they will get the ball rolling and didn't just give you lecture on weight. Hurray for lovely doctors! Also great news the BMI cut off is 35 not 30 in your area. I hope all of this has made you feel positive as you move forward- another step along the journey to your BFP completed!

MrsKin90 · 02/02/2021 12:32

@Sydney1986x if that makes you a monster I think I must be the devil 😈 It's perfectly normal, valid feelings and our minds way of protecting ourselves a little from the pain. As baby grows you'll see them more as a person and less as a baby and hopefully those sad feelings will fade away a little bit. ❤️ At least this has been my experience so far. Goodluck with SI, fingers crossed this is the cycle for you as there's lots of success going on right now.

A little update from me - I've just had a lovely conversation with my doctor after doing an online request yesterday for some help with TTC. I was very down yesterday at the thought they wouldn't do anything at all until I lose weight but they're happy to put through for all the blood testing and a scan of my uterus and ovaries to see how my PCOS and lining is doing I guess? I get to ring up for my day "21" bloods this next cycle and she was in the know enough to tell me not to do this until I'm sure I'm one week away from my period even if that's cd35. They did say of course no fertility treatment until I get my weight down but it's nice to know what I'm actually up against. The BMI limit here is 35 so very lucky in that respect as 30 would just make me give up entirely. My husband has also made a request from his doctor but no phone consultation about that until 16th February (different surgeries obviously prioritise things differently!). I had a big fat cry on the phone. I literally expected a lecture on my weight and nothing else. 😭 I feel so relieved.

AdriannaP · 02/02/2021 12:21

@Sydney1986x we all so feel you! Definitely not a monster.
My DB really didn’t want a second DC so when he told me his DW was pregnant it was very unexpected for me. I cried for two days afterwards! I just felt so crushed. He didn’t even want a baby anr of course is having one.

Bluey18 · 02/02/2021 12:09

@makingnumber2 Eeek, I'm having a quick sneaky glance at the thread in work because I've been thinking of you and hoping you get a stronger line today, and definitely looks like you have!! I've everything crossed for you for a sticky bean!!

@Sydney1986x Best of luck with SI this cycle Smile. You are not a monster, you are only human like the rest of us, I think every one of us on this thread can empathise with those feelings xx

Makingnumber2 · 02/02/2021 11:48

@Sydney1986x you are absolutely not a monster- I think everyone on this thread knows how hard it is to feel only happiness when someone close to us announces a pregnancy or has a new baby. Doesn't make any of us monsters only human. Know you are not alone in feeling this way. And one day it will be you making the announcement and sending the pics- so just hold on to that thought as much as you can Flowers

Sydney1986x · 02/02/2021 11:20

Morning everyone,

How’s everyone doing?

@Makingnumber2 I really hope this one is a sticky bean for you.

It’s so lovely to read that so many of you have got your BFP’s ✨

I am CD13 and lots of CM but no positive OPK 🧐 I am going for it this month though and SI’ing every other day. Still toying with the idea of soft cup next month. I give up with the ferti-lily now, it’s too complex for me 😂

My sister gave birth to her 2nd child yesterday. I felt so emotional but also felt disgusted at myself for not being as happy as I could be. Every pic update is a reminder of the little milestones I so long for 😣. I feel like a monster for feeling this way. Two colleagues also gave birth last week too.

I am genuinely super happy for everyone here with BFPs, I know the struggle, the turmoil and emotions all attached to your journeys from reading this thread and you give me so much hope in an otherwise bleak time xx

AdriannaP · 02/02/2021 10:45

@Makingnumber2 definitely a line!!
Have my fingers crossed for you.

I had really dark lines 18DPO - I ovulate slightly late in the cycle though.

Makingnumber2 · 02/02/2021 09:43

Thank you guys- really appreciate you inspecting them for me! I'm keeping everything crossed it's a sticky bean. Star

MrsKin90 · 02/02/2021 09:38

@Makingnumber2 I can definitely see lines on both today and couldn't see any when I looked yesterday!

eloiseislost · 02/02/2021 09:36

@Makingnumber2 Oh that's definitely a line!! I'm sure that you can assess the progression better in person but judging only from the photos, with yesterday's I had to open, zoom, invert etc, whereas today they're right there, don't even need to click on the thumbnail!
I am praying this is your BFP! ❤️

Makingnumber2 · 02/02/2021 09:20

Awww thanks @eloiseislost- seriously the support from you ladies on here has just been so invaluable and I know what you mean, I am desperate for BFP news from everyone every cycle!
So yeh the line in the superdrug one is way off to side- but to the eye is visible. I've done another pic in natural light now the sun is up and will upload in a sec. I think I'll just keep doing a test each morning and if line seems to be getting stronger then I will grab a FRER on Saturday whilst I do the big shop. I am a bit worried the line still isn't very dark on cheapie strip and is only just not a squinter- but I'm not sure at what speed they're supposed to get darker?

@bigsweetpotato sore boobs (well for me it's one boob, no idea why!)! is a part of my regular cycle too- and that boob and nipple is still sore currently. The other one isn't really feeling any different though and I thought if I was pregnant both boobs would be sore as I remember having that with my first pregnancy, although can't recall time scale.
Anyway I'm trying not to get too excited- still haven't told DH and don't think I will until it's a blazing line. With his mum I just don't think he could take any more sad/bad news so don't want to get his hopes up and then dash them again. Just gonna keep plodding on with a daily test and a double dose of folic acid a day and hope and pray for the best.

bigsweetpotato · 02/02/2021 08:59

@Makingnumber2 maybe it's still a bit early? I know I tested on the day that AF was due (13 dpo I think) and test was completely blank. I had slight cramp and a bit of spotting so thought AF was definitely on her way - the only thing weird for me was that my boobs still hurt and that usually goes away on AF. I think I tested 4 days later and there was a clear line. Fingers crossed for you!! X

eloiseislost · 02/02/2021 08:50

Good morning @Makingnumber2! Literally I opened the app to find out if you tested again, I'm so invested in this! 😅
First of all, wow to that Superdrug test, looks horrible. The control line is way off centre! 😵 Makes me wonder if the test line is also off centre and thus hidden by the plastic cover. I would pry it open just for fun, but it doesn't look reliable.
The line in the cheapie is definitely there! Eeeek! 😬
Can you get a FRER?

OP posts:
Makingnumber2 · 02/02/2021 08:03

Morning everyone- hope everyone is doing ok.
I am still in line limbo over here which makes me think things are not looking super hopeful.
I did work out yday though that actually I was 12dpo yday and 13dpo today.
This morning I took another cheapie strip and a faint line came up within a minute. I didn’t need to squint to see it like ydays but in photos it looks fainter than ydays one! I also took a Superdrug frer which was atrocious btw- save your money. It had random dye lines all over the shop as it was doing its thing. Due to the dye lines all over it was hard to see a faint line of any kind until the strip inside had gone from pink to white which was just outside 5 min time to read it. The line is also not central in the window which is unhelpful too- it’s on rhs of window. I’ve attached photos but they aren’t great. I think it’s a case of just sitting and waiting and fully prepared for this to be a chemical.

@Remembermee It can be a very frustrating issue, but we have found a way to work around it. My DH was never investigated for low testosterone, our therapist maintains that it is a psychological issue for him and I agree, he fits the profile. But I'm happy to be working it out with him, once we started counselling, it has brought us closer. This is why decided to TTC.

Are you being seen by a private fertility clinic? Are you in the UK? I have no idea about medication prices, but I suspect they won't be very cheap. I would ask someone all these questions, they should be able to give you a quote and a plan as to what's next. Try not to think too much about what's next though, focus on one thing at a time. SI this month and when you hear back from the clinic about IVF, you can re-adjust your focus. 😉 Best of luck!

OP posts:
Remembermee · 01/02/2021 15:29

@eloiseislost
Yes, my hubby is exactly the same - can't do it in my presence either! We did psychosexual therapy but it didn't help us. They also discovered his testosterone levels were really low. He then went on medication for that which meant we couldn't conceive but it didn't help his ejaculation problems. The problem with sex is that it can just go on for sooooo long! He had to change his testosterone injections when we went to the fertility clinic so that he was actually producing sperm. It's taken over a year to get the dose right. But I was too scared to really try conceiving until this month... they're waiting to hear whether we go ahead with IVF... I just don't find the fertility clinic informative or supportive... Like, i have a price list but it says medication is not included. Nowhere does it say how much medication costs! And if we go ahead with IVF is there a waiting list or do we start straight away? I'm terrified of egg collection and injections so figured we'd give a good try SI first! But i'm not getting any younger!

Sorry to hear that you miscarried in Dec but congratulations on your BFP! It is very scary indeed, I can imagine.

Makingnumber2 · 01/02/2021 12:33

@Oilyoilyoilgob I'm so pleased it was such a beautiful moment for you all and that it brought you some comfort. How wonderful the positive energy continued and you had good news back about DH's sperm count! 3 weeks isn't long to go either til your bloods. You will both get the child you so sorely deserve- I know it. And thank you for the hug and kind words Smile

@ComebackQueen thank you Smile best of luck with your mum's house move. That sounds like a lot of additional emotional and poss physical labour too on top of all the TTC stuff! Your mum is very lucky to have you and DH to help her and I hope she will be happy in her new place. You shouldn't feel like a fool at all about your first SI cycle- this whole thing was alien to all of us when we did our first SI cycles and part of the journey is honing the process I think! The soft discs do squeeze down to be relatively narrow for insertion into a very squashed almost '8' shape, the wider parts are wider in width than a 5ml syringe I think but not hugely wider. I think do what you can and don't stress yourself out with any of it. Slowly and surely will win the race.

Thank you @AdriannaP @eloiseislost for your words too- they have given me some much needed perspective I think as my head is a bit all over the place today lurching from best case to worst case scenarios every 10 mins. I am trying to be fatalistic and just think what will be will be and I'm sure if I keep practising the fatalism I'll get better at it Grin.

ComebackQueen · 01/02/2021 11:37

@Oilyoilyoilgob so sorry to hear of your loss. Sending you healing vibes.

Sorry to hear AF also made an appearance, hopefully next cycle is the one for you and, all us other ladies will get our blessings.

@Makingnumber2 I agree with the other ladies, I think that’s definitely a line.
Fingers crossed for you.

Good luck to everyone, I am researching like mad now that I’ve been a bit of a fool first ‘cycle’ and think I need to get the soft discs. Trying to find more information on anyone suffering from vaginismus being able to get them in. I will probably use the syringe for next SI only because I know what to expert to and don’t want to shock the body forcing a soft cup up there.

I’ll be back in a few weeks when my next SI days starts, I’m helping my mother move house over the next two weeks. Don’t worry we are in a support bubble, so due to her disability my husband and I have taken 2 weeks leave, to box up the current house and then unpack in her new house.

This at least keeps me distracted until it’s time to do another SI.

Best of luck to everyone.

For those that got their BFP already, hoping these all stick and I need a full low down on what to expect from BFP to first scan. It seems like from what I’ve read, you’re left in limbo until you go for a 12 week scan, that sounds bad for mental healthy tbh.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 01/02/2021 11:25

@Makingnumber2 try not to think that. Our beans don’t stick for a huge number of reasons and no one is at fault for them.
This journey is tough enough as it is so try not to let yourself think it’s anything to do with you being at fault and give yourself added pressure when it’s definitely not needed.
We know from this thread alone sadly how often implantation doesn’t happen or miscarriage happens. Go easy on yourself there.

Sending a big fat hug Xx
