Anyone else TTC over the age of 40? I have a 19 month who was conceived first attempt. TTC #2 since June without success so far. Be good to hear from anyone in the same boat! I’m still bfeeding so wondering if that might be a factor. Plus my age obvs!

Great news @Jem1979 ! My screening results came back low, so everything going in the right direction here too x

Jem1979 · 02/11/2021 15:24

Hi all, just to update I had my first official scan yesterday and all went well, 13+1 and due on 08 May. Lovely to see the wee bubba wriggling about. Hope everyone is doing ok x

@birdbybird yes that's twice now I've managed to conceive while still bf so it's obviously possible. My son is almost 2 1/2. He feeds to sleep at night and then when he wakes but rarely during the day unless he's unwell. But he's a frequent waker so can be 4/5 times some nights! Tried to wean him a few months back but he was totally inconsolable so just decided he wasn't ready. Good luck this cycle x

@Jem1979 I'm ok. Had a HSG this cycle and may ovulate soon. I'm also still BF and is good to hear that you were still able to conceive. How old is your little one and how often do you BF? Any feeds over night? Good to hear all going well with the new pregnancy! :)

Jem1979 · 19/10/2021 09:23

@birdbybird yes still feeding himConfused how are you doing? x

Hi @Jem1979 were you breastfeeding your first? Are you still bf? All the best with the scan!

Jem1979 · 17/10/2021 13:47

@Lastyearttc that's great news about your scan! I have mine on 1st Nov. Hope all continues to go smoothly for you.

@Twothirtyam best of luck for the assessment!

@Sash78 that must be hard when your wee one is asking for a sibling. I suppose in the end if it's not to be then you can maybe explain that you tried but that he was meant to have all of your love?

@Lastyearttc that’s fantastic thank you for sharing! Every bit of positive news is much needed here and I’m really happy it’s going well for you! Hope you’re feeling well as you go into the second trimester 😊

Lastyearttc · 13/10/2021 15:45

Hi ladies, hope everyone is ok and hanging in there. Some good news my end... had my dating scan yesterday and it's all ok still. So I'm 13+3 at 43yo. Just waiting for screening results now but wanted to share that it can happen! My daughter is 6yo and I fell on my 13th cycle after another mmc last year.

Sash78 · 11/10/2021 14:18

Thanks @Twothirtyam. Yes I'm not even that close to my brother so I'm probably blowing it out of proportion. My son does have cousins so that's good, but they're a fair bit older. He still thinks they're great and looks up to them though.
Your fertility assessment might turn out to be a positive step and help with all this. Even if it's just that you know you've done all you can and keep trying. Hope it goes well.

Twothirtyam · 11/10/2021 12:09

Wow good news about the scan @Jem1979 - exciting!
@Sash78 I understand how you’re feeling about wanting to give your son a sibling but you know that brothers or sisters don’t always get on so try not to think you’ve let him down if it doesn’t happen. I often feel the same as you but funnily my daughter never asks for one and actually she’s so attached and clingy with me I’m not actually sure she’d want one! I’m just thinking more about when she’s older really. And also I just really like being a Mum (as hard as it is) and want to do more of it! Does your son have cousins or anything?
I’ve just booked in for a fertility assessment this month. Kind of dreading it but I guess will be good to know. Need to get all my questions prepped!

Sash78 · 11/10/2021 09:56

Hi ladies, I hope you're all doing well. I have irregular periods and am now CD38, which is a day over my second longest ever cycle. I just had a negative test result on a cheapie paper stick. My son keeps asking when he can have a brother or sister like all his friends and it's so hard. Even though I try to explain to him that it's not something we're preventing him from having, I think he feels like he's not deserved it or something. Is anyone else having similar issues with explaining things to a LO, and how do you reassure them it's not their fault? It's the main reason I want to get pregnant. He's got issues so I'm scared for his future and really pretty desperate to give him a little friend who will stand by him in life. If I can't do that, what do I say to him? xx

Jem1979 · 04/10/2021 19:50

@Sash78 thank you! Sorry to hear you've had a lot going on & hope you are doing ok. @Twothirtyam oh I've had a few very vivid pregnancy dreams and felt so gutted waking up. Think it's a good idea for you to get a fertility assessment. Am feeling ok, nauseous most days but strangely not until the afternoon. Haven't been sick at least so I can't really complain. Had a scan on Sat, measuring at 8+6 and heartbeat was strong. So I was delighted and really relieved, just hope everything continues to progress well x

Hope you’re feeling well @Jem1979 and that everyone else is doing well!
I’m 3dpo and just so fed up with the TWW. I dreamt last night that I was pregnant and it was so disappointing when I woke up! Genuinely not sure how many cycles I have left in me to try! Think I’m going to finally bite the bullet and get a fertility assessment when my cycle restarts in a couple of weeks.

Mattieandmummy · 30/09/2021 07:21

Just marking my place x

Sash78 · 30/09/2021 00:25

@Jem1979 Congratulations!! Lovely news! I hope you’ve been feeling well since you recovered from the bug.

Sorry for going quiet. Several family issues all happening at once. On the bright side, dealing with all that has made me think and stress less about TTC!

@GingerFox2021 Results were at 22days 0, and at 32 days 6.5. It took 8 days for the 22-day test result to come back, which is why I had a 10 day gap before re-testing. I have a long cycle that varies a bit so I’m hoping I missed almost the entire peak. New cycle now, so I’m back later this week to try at day 26. It’s frustrating!

How are you getting on @99pctpractice?

Jem1979 · 26/09/2021 09:20

@birdbybird number 4 since MC in April x

OP posts:
birdbybird · 25/09/2021 20:02

@Jem1979 what number cycle was this?

@Twothirtyam I've just ovulated yesterday I think... so we're very close!

Jem1979 · 25/09/2021 19:38

Aw thanks @birdbybird and @Twothirtyam yes think will book a private scan in the next couple of weeks as 12 week one still a good way off. Just taking it day by day and trying not to think too far ahead. Oh I know exactly how you are feeling, it's hard to stay positive as the months roll on. Though just keep telling yourself it only takes one egg. I'm lucky in that I have a younger hubby who is up for DTD plenty during fertile window...! Lol. But again, you only need to do it once. Hoping everyone else gets their good news soon! x

Congratulations @Jem1979

Twothirtyam · 25/09/2021 15:14

@Jem1979 that’s fantastic! It’s so funny when the notification came up I thought ‘ooh I hope this is a pregnancy notification!!’ Wishing you all the best for this pregnancy. Will you be getting early scans?
I’m coming up to ovulation and actually feeling really negative about it ever happening so it’s lovely to hear your positive news 😊

Jem1979 · 25/09/2021 12:53

@GingerFox2021 thank you! Think I'm 6/7 weeks, def feeling more symptoms this time around but might book an early scan for reassurance.

OP posts:
GingerFox2021 · 25/09/2021 12:12

Ahhh Congratulations @Jem1979. Such great news, try to be positive. All the best! How many weeks do you think you are?

Jem1979 · 25/09/2021 08:02

Hi @GingerFox2021 sorry for my radio silence. Great to hear your scans showed as normal. When I phoned for my 21-day results I was just told 'all returned normal'. I asked the receptionist if there were any numbers recorded but was told that was all the Dr had written?!

But.... some news.... I got a BFP a couple of weeks ago. Feeling excited but very cautious after my experience earlier this year. Been feeling ok, a bit nauseous and then my wee one brought home the vomiting bug from nursery which me and my hubby both caught too. Horrible few days! Thankfully recovered now and just back from a break away with my in-laws. Just taking one day at a time and sending lots of positive vibes to this little bean.

Hope everyone else doing ok x
