My fertility journey & now starting Clomid - Any advice or experience?

I have a child who is 9 and fell pregnant easily. A year or so after I was diagnosed with PCOS after a scan. I suffered with an eating disorder and my periods stopped for 6 months. I then went onto various contraceptives (pill, depo) as my circumstances changed. I then tried the Mirena coil and everything seemed great on it till it disappeared and at the same time I started being in lots of pain so had a pelvic scan (to locate coil) and discovered I had a 6cm ovarian cyst which a few days later I ended up heavily bleeding so was admitted to hospital and had cyst removed. The consultant also removed my coil and upon waking from surgery told me that it'd started to embed in my uterus and it was that which caused the bleeding and pain.

Fast forward to more recent, I'd been on the depo again since (no probs). I stopped it two years ago to TTC with my partner (not my Childs dad) and finding it really, really difficult to conceive :( He has had two sperm evaluations as the first was low but the second was much higher (although slightly low morphology) but the doctors seem to be fine with him now and back looking at me. I've tried ovulation tests (which always showed a surge), I've had a Hycosy which everything was fine and just finished 3 cycles of Letrozole which was a high dose. My 21 day blood test showed my progesterone at 23 and it apparently needs to be over 30 to have ovulated. I'm not due to start tonight Clomiphene. He's prescribed me 100mg a day (day 2-6) so from what I've read again is another decent/high dose but I didn't get to speak to him properly and feel a bit anxious as hear lots of lovely side effects with these! Is it true they're better taken at night? Also online I read that there's a 10% chance of developing an ovarian cyst with these so I'm not sure if I should try and book a private scan after the first cycle to make sure I haven't got one again? I have two rounds of this then another blood test. If I ovulate on it then I'm allowed another 4 goes, if not on the sheet he gave me it said Gondatropins may tried after or keyhole surgery to make holes in my ovaries... Any experience or advice greatly appreciated!

@Crazydoglady123 I have my scan on the 15th March. Just need to book my blood tests now but not sure if I can have it the same day as the scan or not.

Crazydoglady123 · 19/02/2021 10:01

@Suki2020 don't loose hope! It may just take a couple of months to get your body working better and having bloods and scan this month is excellent! What day do you have to have your scan? I'm trying this cycle Coenzyme q10, zinc, vit b and MyOva tablets 🤞

@Crazydoglady123 hopefully it will happen in the next day or two for you. I would say you’d be fine dtd up until Tuesday, I’m sure they’ve seen it all before lol.
Yeah I had a box of 30 clomid tablets so I’ll start taking again tomorrow night. Still have to take 50mg for this cycle and I need to book bloods and a scan for this cycle so I will do that today to give me something positive to focus on. I don’t really know if there is anything else I can do or take to help this cycle. I already take folic acid and VitD and we use conceive plus lubricate.

Crazydoglady123 · 19/02/2021 08:31

@Suki2020 that's so weird I was just coming on to see how you was and you'd literally just posted!!! Sorry to hear that but that's good it's shortening your cycles. What's your plan this cycle? Do you have more tablets to go again?

I'm day two of flashy smiley. Hoping I get my peak over the weekend as I'm not sure how close to my scan on Wednesday I can DTD without it being gross for my consultant if you know what I mean 😂

@Crazydoglady123 have got got your static smiley face yet for ovulation? AF arrived for me this morning 😢 so feeling sorry for myself today, but at least my cycle was only 33days it’s the shortest I’ve had in years.

Crazydoglady123 · 18/02/2021 12:35

Thanks @Suki2020. Fingers crossed it doesn't come for you. That'll be such great success rate for first cycles for you ladies

@Crazydoglady123 that’s great, fingers crossed ovulation will happen soon for you. My temp has dropped this morning although I did get up a silly o’clock as OH had to be in work really early this morning so don’t know if that will make it drop or I’m just hoping that’s the reason. AF should appear at some point today got a headache this morning as well. 😩

Crazydoglady123 · 18/02/2021 07:12

Got a flashing smiley on CD10 this morn so hopefully the Clomid last month is still helping me ovulate 🤞 as when I used OPKs before I didn't get flashers till CD19

@HT1507 awww I'm so happy for you! How many weeks now are you and when's your due date again? That's hilarious about your jacket btw 😂 Baby brain is deffo real! Twice during pregnancy I left stuff (once my purse!) on top of my cars roof when getting in and drove off 🙈

I'm just desperate now to initiate the IVF. I really thought I was pregnant last month so although not a physical loss I'm definitely still coming to terms with another mental loss plus I feel this month we've gone backwards not being able to take my Clomid. The bloody stuff is sat in my draw next to me and I can't take it 😩😭 I'm really hoping that after my scan next week if this cycle isn't successful, if I can try it again maybe for the last month before IVF. @Suki2020 that girl on your threads has been allowed to have it further through her cycle so maybe if I haven't ovulated on my scan next week or look like I'm about to maybe I can take it 🤞 Your temperature is looking promising too Suki 🤞🤞

@HT1507 that's great how lovely. Can I ask your dates? And if it was internal? Id like to avoid internal so thinking to book for 8 weeks when it should be fine for a tummy scan. It will be a private scan for me.

HT1507 · 17/02/2021 11:26

@Crazydoglady123 I had my scan this morning .. the pregnancy was dated in line with when I thought I ovulated, and I heard a heartbeat! That was a lovely surprise because I thought I’d only be able to see it flickering at this stage. I was in my own little bubble afterwards and put my coat on inside out without realising .. some lovely lady told me while I was paying for parking. I must have looked like a right numpty lol!

Sorry you’ve been feeling low .. sending lots of virtual hugs! I know all the waiting can be really frustrating, and I really hope things get moving for you soon ❤️

@Ronnii glad you’re doing well .. it does take a bit of getting used to when you initially find out! I was offered the early scan due to the miscarriage, otherwise I’m not sure I would have been able to have it. Although, as @Crazydoglady123 said, paying for a private one isn’t too expensive and would be worth it if it reassures you that everything is ok Smile

@Suki2020 it’s good that your temp is still up .. I hope it stays that way for you! Keep us posted x

Suki2020 · 17/02/2021 09:05

@Crazydoglady123 haha. I’ve never had an internal scan they’ve always been able to see my eggs and and tubes were clear from my ultrasound scan and said I didn’t need an internal. 🤷🏻‍♀️ No symptoms here temp is still up at the moment but we will see over the next two days. I feel like AF will arrive in the next day or two.

@Ronnii yeah I had a few low days over the weekend and was finding it hard to cope amd take my mind off it all and stumbled across that thread and it made me laugh and seemed quite light hearted so what I need at the minute. I keep calling the IVF clinic for a cancellation as I just want to get the ball rolling sooner (before I loose my mind also!) So pleased you're doing okay though! My private scans are £90 but worth every penny. My scan with my NHS fertility clinic is next Wednesday and it can't come soon enough!

How are you doing @Suki2020? Any signs? Btw, on your Clomid thread re the endometrial lining its recorded the thickness on a scan. Mines always been internal so not sure if a regular one can measure it or not

Hi @HT1507 yeah I’m ok thanks, 13dpo now so just waiting to see if AF shows up in the next couple of days. How are you doing?

@Crazydoglady123 how are you feeling today? Hope you are having a better day. Here if you want to chat

Ronnii · 17/02/2021 08:27

@Crazydoglady123 🤞fingers crossed it's a good cycle for you. I saw you on the 'bus' thread, nothing weird just browsing through threads lol, but I found that thread really good, I couldn't keep up with the convo so dropped out a bit, they didn't know much about clomid but lots of IVF knowledge and a good vibe, defo a good thread.

@HT1507 lots of aching down there and sore boobs, doing alright tho. Good luck with your scan. I'm going to call doctors today and discuss a scan or go private if not. It's taken a while to change my head from TTC and believe this.

Crazydoglady123 · 16/02/2021 19:49

@HT1507 sorry just read it is tomorrow. I had in my head the 16th. How are you feeling about it?

OP posts:
Crazydoglady123 · 16/02/2021 19:48

Hey, I'm okay thanks @HT1507. Feeling very up and down emotional at the minute and just counting down days for things to start getting back on track. How are you doing? How was your scan?
