Just wondered if anyone else with long cycles has tried these? My cycles can range anywhere from 33-45 days and I've read a lot of positive things about these helping shorten cycles. I've just ordered some to try next cycle if AF ever shows up 🙄

@heybabes fingers crossed you O soon! I took 160 on days 2-6 this time, had very noticeable headaches. Currently on CD11 and I've noticed increased CM this cycle too, so here's hoping this is our month!

heybabes · 08/03/2021 11:32

Just checking in, hope everyone is doing ok?

CD15 for me today and no O yet. Hoping it will be at some point this week. I think I may have had fertile CM over the past couple of days but hard to tell. I've never had noticeable EWCM (since I've been TTC anyway).

The annoying thing is I'm going to see my mum this weekend (she is going to hospital for several months to have a bone marrow transplant, I haven't seen her since November when she was in intensive care) and this is when my apps are predicting I might ovulate! Classic.

Anyway, hope everyone is alright :)

heybabes · 28/02/2021 18:34

@Riverskye yeay I’m glad AF showed up for you, what a relief after a mammoth cycle! Hopefully this time it won’t be as bad.

I’ve done the same - 2-6 but slightly smaller dose than you. So I’ve done 120,120,160,160,200. Last time I did 80,80,80,120,160 so it’s still a much higher dose, and much earlier than last time (defo won’t do it on 5-9 again...) I’m also not doing OPKs in order to reduce stress 🙂 hope it’s our month!

Didn’t get too many side effects although with the doses over 160, I felt like I had a headache before bed and then a super deep sleep. I’ve also had slight twingey pains in both ovaries on those days which was a little concerning but might be normal!

On CD7 today and feeling more positive than I did last cycle so hopefully a good sign.

Fifi1086 · 26/02/2021 11:13

Hey everyone I wonder can you help.. I am going to start taking SI today on CD2, but I'm so confused as to what mg the actual tablets are! I've posted a pic of the back of the pack, can anyone help me figure out what mg these tablets are?? Thanks in advance!

I've no idea what's happening with me this cycle! I had a definite obvious line on a OPK on Sunday which was CD10 but not positive and they've just gone fainter and fainter since and now hardly visible. I can only do OPKs to track as I can't temp accuratley due to to my DD waking up numerous times a night at the moment!
I haven't had my usual OV symptoms at all and no real CM other than this morning but it was creamy and thick and not fertile looking at all. I can't decide if I ovulated early and I've missed it or if it's gonna be late this time. CD14 today. Last cycle I didn't get positive OPK either just 1 strong line on CD11 but I def felt other symptoms that time.
To top it off I am full of a cold and feeling awful and we haven't managed to DTD since Sunday 😩

@Kay00 hoping for you that it's just the inflammation that's delaying things this cycle. I'm giving myself one more cycle and if it's super long/no ovulation I'm definitely going to the doctors. I know with covid and having not being trying for a full year they might brush me off but it's worth a try!

Kay00 · 24/02/2021 13:16

@Riverskye I'm glad to hear you AF has shown up... just so you are not sat in limbo! You are having very long cycles, hopefully the higher dose SI will help you, if not then I think you should approach your doctor and ask for your base hormones to be run, to rule out PCOS etc.

I'm CD34 here and i'm pretty sure it will be another annovulatory cycle for me. I did SI for: 100, 150, 150, 200 but it doesn't seem to have helped... but my body is also currently battling inflammation which I read can stop ovulation. So maybe I'm fighting a loosing battle haha. My plan is to visit the doctors next.

72 day cycle and AF has finally turned up. Honestly so relieved to not be in limbo anymore and as much as I love DH a wee break from DTD will be nice! Going to take 160, 160, 160, 200, 200 this cycle on 2-6. Will be temping but no opks, try to relax more this cycle.

heybabes · 23/02/2021 09:44

@Riverskye it very well could be! And congrats on your new job, that should take your mind off things for a bit. Definitely worth speaking to GP soon though I think, maybe they need to induce your period?

I've also given up OPKs, they stressed me out so much this month for same reason as you - always high. I was not drinking or 4 hours or so throughout the day just to I could get an accurate OPK, so pointless and not healthy! So just going to temp too.

On CD2 today so taking soy again this eve! :)

Riverskye · 22/02/2021 11:38

@Littlepoppet1 we've been trying since July but only had 3 cycles. I've only been able to catch ovulation once and that was in October! I'm not bothering with opks next cycle as they always show as high, going to try temping for a cycle then off to the doctors if no joy.

Littlepoppet1 · 22/02/2021 11:27

I'm hoping so @heybabes looking good so far so 🤞
Not trying anything else new this time just going with the soy, I take a preconception vitamin too but that's all.

@riverskye CD71 is tough going I feel for you! How long have you been TTC? Def worth a chat with your GP to see if they can help at all. Fingers crossed a higher dose of soy next time helps. Congrats on the new job!

OP posts:
Riverskye · 22/02/2021 10:48

@heybabes sorry to hear you had a longer cycle this month. I also took a lower dose of soy and currently on CD71 so maybe it's connected?

I'm still going to do soy next cycle but a higher dose than my last. I'm about to start a new job so hopefully that'll keep my mind off of things! I've decided if my next cycle is 60+ I'm going to go to the doctors to see if they can give me something to regulate.

heybabes · 22/02/2021 10:37

@Littlepoppet1 Fingers crossed you get an early O again this time! I'm not going to do OPKs this month and just hope for the best. Luckily we BD most days anyway so don't think worth the stress for me.

Have you tried anything else new this month? I'm thinking of adding Pre-seed or Conceive Plus lubricant. I also added inositol + coq 10 + fish oil to my supplements.

Littlepoppet1 · 22/02/2021 10:08

@heybabes sorry to hear AF arrived for you. Hopefully taking it earlier will make a difference this time!

CD11 today for me, I took them 2-6 again this cycle same dosage as last time so 2x100 2x150 and 1x200. I started OPKs yesterday, had a obvious 2nd line but not positive so hopefully see progression over the next few days!

Hope everyone else doing okay!

OP posts:
heybabes · 22/02/2021 09:18

How is everyone getting on?

AF unfortunately arrived for me today and I had a 45 day cycle, which was 10 days longer than my previous one! So... not doing soy CD5-9 again. I was very stressed this month so don't think it's entirely the soy, but I don't think it helped!

I'm going to start taking them again tomorrow (CD2-6) and up my dose this time. I only did 80,80,80,120,160 last cycle, so this cycle I will do 120,120,160,160,200.

Hope you're all good! :)

heybabes · 17/02/2021 09:51

9 DPO and said I wouldn't test until I got any symptoms or just wait til AF, but I caved and tested. BFN. I know it's still relatively early but I had the "feeling" that this the month... obv not! Oh well. Like I said before I'm happy knowing I'm ovulating at least and only cycle 2 for me.

@katewitch that makes sense! Yeah I think you should do it on the earlier days personally. I did mine CD5-9 which is the latest you can take it and my ovulation was nearly 2 weeks later than my previous cycle. It's not unheard of my cycles to be that long so not 100% the soy, but it would make sense! I'm going to do CD2-6 next month too.

I also think it's great you're trying to regulate things before you start trying - I wish I'd done this. I used to think it was great that I had less periods than everyone else! Only 1 period in 3 months - sweet! Now I am like "why did I ever think that was a good thing!" and wish I had got it sorted sooner.

katewitch · 14/02/2021 09:22

Thanks all, I think after some digging that they must be actually 45mg, so will treat them as that going forward and see what happens Smile don't want to risk delaying ovulation as I always have long cycles so looks like I should be trying 2-6? I'm on CD14 at the moment which for a normal person would be perfect for Valentines TTC... ho hum!

Have a lovely Valentines day everyone Wink my DMum is bubbled with us as she lives alone and has taken my DS for a sleepover, I think she is hoping it will help her get another grandchild Grin

We don't start Officially Trying until April but are not using contraception right now and I'm trying to get my cycles sorted out... glad I'm not alone in that but hopefully all of us have success with the SIs sooner rather than later Flowers

Kay00 · 14/02/2021 09:04

Oh haha, I'm sure he'll be most pleased watching 6 Nations this afternoon then! Happy Valentines day ladies x

heybabes · 14/02/2021 08:23

@Kay00 don’t lose hope yet! I was sure I was having an anovulatory cycle and got in such a bad mood about it but it just happened much later for me - I’ve attached my current chart if it helps! I know it’s probably just a coincidence but as soon as I stopped doing OPKs and just stopped stressing, it seemed like then I ovulated...

@Riverskye sorry you’re having such a long cycle - I get the AF is better than nothing sentiment! I had a 70 day cycle this year and it’s rubbish.

@katewitch welcome! I got some like yours from Amazon and it said a similar thing, that the actual percentage of pure soy isoflavones was 40mg. See if there are any reviews on Amazon? Sometimes they have some info from others using them to TTC

@Littlepoppet1 🤞for you this cycle! Hopefully now you’ve got your O day brought forward, this could be the BFP month!

Also happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We won’t be doing much today as we have my 4 year old stepson this weekend, plus lockdown... I think my SO is expecting me to say I’m pregnant today as it’s past when I would usually get my period and I just stopped talking about TTC with him recently as we were getting down and I was obsessing about not ovulating. I haven’t even told him I have now ovulated. Oh well, hope he enjoys his Bristol Bears mug instead! 😂

Kay00 · 14/02/2021 00:20

@katewitch Welcome! Some Soy Iso supplements are aimed at post menopausal women who need really high doses... I think thats that you have?

I bought Natures Aid from Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/Natures-Aid-Soya-Isoflavones-Genistein/dp/B000GY76L6?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

@riverskye I feel like I might be having an annovulatory cycle like I did last time... although I'm only on CD22, so it might happen yet (my cycles are usually very long). I hoped SI would help kick-start things, but maybe something else is at play. If I have another annovulatory cycle I may have a chat with my GP. If I ovulate then ill give SI a try again on my next cycle.

katewitch · 13/02/2021 20:06

Hi! New to the thread and glad you all seem to be having some success, hopefully you all get your BFPs soon Smile

Can I ask where you all got your SIs from?

I bought some on Amazon without thinking about dosages - assuming incorrectly that they'd all be similar amounts!

Mine say they are 5000mg which seems insanely high? Confused But on the back it suggests that they're 45mg!

Could any of you help me interpret this please? I'm keen to start using them as I have mild PCOS symptoms and long cycles and would like to bring ovulation forward and ensure it happens, but I seem to have bought the wrong ones and too much is bad, right?

Any help would be much appreciated please, I'm so confused!

@Kay00 after taking them, I had a 60 day cycle right before this one too though so don't think SI is the reason it's long. Hopefully my body does something soon, whilst I'd love a BFP I'd take AF over nothing!

Kay00 · 13/02/2021 18:32

@riverskye oh man... thats really frustrating, hope you're coping ok? Xx is that after SI or are you waiting to take them?

Riverskye · 13/02/2021 18:13

Currently on CD62, negative opk, negative pregnancy test and no sign of AF. The waiting is driving me mental Grin

Littlepoppet1 · 13/02/2021 08:26

Yes I'm taking them again this cycle. Doing same as last time seens as it worked well so days 2-6 100, 100, 150, 150, 200. Hopefully second time lucky!

@heybabes glad to see you have ovulated, even if it is later than you would like. If you don't get lucky this cycle then I think trying taking them earlier next time would be a good shout as I've heard taking later can delay things too.

@Kay00 I hope it happens soon for you! It's frustrating isn't it. On my previous long cycles my body always shows signs of trying like to say, it's like there's a bit of a build up then it just doesn't happen. Will you give the soy another go next cycle do you think if this isn't your month?
