I came off the pill between Christmas and NY ready to TTC DC2 Smile

I'm very excited! But trying to relax and just see how it goes - I'm not temping or using OPKs or peering at the calendar every day to see when I should be ovulating Grin

DC2 is almost 3 so I've been back on the pill 2.5 years. Only took 6 weeks to fall pregnant last time but I'm aware my cycles could be irregular this time, and it may take longer.

Other threads I've joined seem to focussing around OPKs and early testing but I'm not doing that (no disrespect to anyone who is, it's just not for me!) I'm focussing on eating healthily, exercising regularly and chilling out.

Anyone else out there the same?!

@2021ComeAtMe how you getting on? According to Flo I would have ovulated in the last couple of days so have been DTD every other day. So now in the loooong 2WW.

2021ComeAtMe · 18/01/2021 12:11

@ploopypleepy oh I've managed to find the energy from somewhere! Grin yes I'd say that's normal when you're just off the pill, will take your body a little while to adjust.

@EekFirstTimeTTC hello and welcome 👋🏻 so you've been trying for just over a year now? They do say that most couples fall pregnant within 2 years of trying. I think you've done very well to stay relaxed throughout! Feel free to join us, hope your TWW has some positive news at the end of it Smile

@DuzzyFuck good that you can look on the positive side! Big congratulations on the promotion 🥳 maybe work distractions will help TTC too, if you've got other things to focus on 🤞🏻

Well I think yesterday may have been the day I ovulated and I didn't DTD 😤 Hmmm. Will make sure I pounce on DH tonight and hope thats good enough.

Hello! Still here! Was due AF on Monday but came on today Confused Not the worst though as I've just accepted a promotion on Thursday so a month or so grace between starting the job and getting pregnant probably isn't the worst thing! Fingers crossed for next time.

EekFirstTimeTTC · 17/01/2021 00:47

Hello all :) thought I'd join the conversation as we have been trying in a relaxed way for a while now. Came off the depo December 2019, AF made a comeback in June 2020 and nothing has happened since.. other than trying to regularly enjoy DTD and recording it in an app we're not really doing anything else no ovulation testes etc. I am however getting a little anxious that nothing has happened yet as time continues to pass... would love to keep chatting on here as I don't have many people to talk to about this other than hubby as we're keeping it to ourselves to not feel any pressure from others constantly asking. I think im due to ovulate tomorrow or the day after so TWW is about to start too..

ploopypleepy · 16/01/2021 23:24

@2021ComeAtMe I'm here! Glad to hear you've had the energy Wink we've done the same but had a random bit of bleeding today, I have read that the is can happen during the first month of coming off the pill so not worrying. TWW is exciting!!! Hope it's your month !

2021ComeAtMe · 16/01/2021 22:17

Just checking in, if anyone's still about Smile

I'm feeling pretty good this weekend, hope you're all ok too? Have DTD plenty, will do it a couple more times over the next few days and then I think I'll have covered my fertile window (if it is when it 'should' be.) Then onto the TWW where I just need to keep myself occupied Grin

2021ComeAtMe · 13/01/2021 20:35

@LyraShaeLilly true! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed I get a good little swimmer 🤞🏻

@ploopypleepy it's hard isn't it! I do find that the more sex we have, the more I want Grin just need to summon up the energy.

OP posts:
ploopypleepy · 13/01/2021 16:43

@2021ComeAtMe hahaha I know that feeling, I'm a key worker and still doing 12 hour shifts... definitely kills the sex drive Grin every two days might have to do is hahah

LyraShaeLilly · 13/01/2021 14:53

If sperm lasts 7 days 1 week before ovulation and 1 week after will give you the best chance.

2021ComeAtMe · 13/01/2021 14:53

@ploopypleepy I hope so! I had all good intentions when my last period finished, was going to have loads of sex, every other day right through my cycle so catch ovulation at any time... but I'm tired 😂 I'm furloughed so off work but between homeschooling eldest/entertaining toddler/housework, I'm collapsing in bed every night haha!

OP posts:
ploopypleepy · 13/01/2021 11:29

@2021ComeAtMe yeah, I think 3 times over the week should do it! We're doing around the same .. just to make sure we catch ovulation (if it happens). My withdrawal bleed has stopped, really light and only lasted 2/3 days.

2021ComeAtMe · 13/01/2021 11:15

@DuzzyFuck well you're very welcome to join us in not temping, not OPKing, not CM checking, just pretty much waiting for our next period to arrive Grin (or hopefully not!)

I DTD again last night, will try and do it 3-4 over the next week and I hoping that'll mean I'll have some sperm waiting when/if I do ovulate. I think it should be around the 18th for me! Do you think that would cover it? Every other day for the next week?

OP posts:
DuzzyFuck · 12/01/2021 20:08

Me too! I have temped on and off but really just to check I'm ovulating (and because I'm fascinated by it Grin) but no OPKs, no checking CM, no pre-seed or wellwoman or anything like that. I'm taking folic acid and I know what day I ovulate so we DTD more around then.

I've only tested pre-AF twice in 6 months and both times was then annoyed at myself at the waste of money so no longer doing that either!

2021ComeAtMe · 12/01/2021 18:45

@LyraShaeLilly hi 👋🏻 I see so many people on here using them I figured it was the norm, didn't realise they weren't always recommended to use. I can't say I never would, maybe 6 months or so if I wasn't pregnant but I'm happy just to take each day as it comes at the minute Smile

OP posts:
LyraShaeLilly · 12/01/2021 13:11

I didn't use Ovulation tests after reading NICE Guidelines and the fact that the GP advised not to as they stated that they create unnecessary stress, I also have no idea when I ovulate as my cycles vary from 28 to 45 days and I have PCOS so needed the TTC process to be as stress free as possible. Also ovulation tests don't work in PCOS. I just did it every other day and conceived within 3 months. Also sperm can survive for 7 days!!!!

2021ComeAtMe · 12/01/2021 00:04

@ploopypleepy wow, great ages! Cant comment on your older DSS but my DC was 5 when their sibling came along and they were thrilled! Grin Yes I do hope so - please keep me updated with how you're getting on Smile I'll check in here daily.

@zedxox hey! It can indeed take a few months for your cycles to become regular - keep a little eye on your dates or for changes in your body though, some people get pregnant straight away Smile

@lillg so very sorry for the loss of your baby Thanks I'm also cutting right down on the alcohol (not a big drinker) and doing more exercise. I have an Apple Watch so trying to do at least 30 mins a day to close my rings! I could do with losing a little weight, 10lbs off would be good. So I'm trying to focus on healthy eating rather than OPK's!

@Dalmxo yes we're the same here too! Relaxed is the best way for us, DH wouldn't be impressed if our sex life revolved around the calendar Grin

OP posts:
lillg · 11/01/2021 22:59

@Dalmxo thank you. I'm not trying to reduce the stress at the moment. I work in finance and it's year end, so work stress is through the roof until March. I will however make sure I take it easy after that. And I'm hoping running and yoga will help me keep my stress levels under control and stop me turning to the wine to chill out in the evening.
When I've fallen pregnant before it's always when I've lost s bit of weight, and I could certainly do with loosing some again so trying to eat sensibility, although still have Xmas chocolate left tempting me.
I agree the "on demand" plan won't work for me either. My DH is very much of the opinion if it's meant to be it will happen.

Dalmxo · 11/01/2021 22:44

@lillg sorry to hear about your loss Daffodilx
Just started to try and focus on getting into exercise regime, eating veg and fruits consistently, main thing has been to try and reduce stress / trying to choose not to be and do as much for myself as possible - self care. I feel the shift of basically just ensuring doing things for myself. I'd never heard of OPKs until today!! I'll be trying to figure out when I'm in fertile window once cycle gets back to normal but I know it won't work with me and my partner unless we take it relaxed - we won't respond well to 'on demand!'

lillg · 11/01/2021 22:07

I don't understand all this OPKs and testing. All of the tablets and ointments etc. I had no idea TTC was so complicated!
I've been trying for almost 5 years but have been in hospital with a kidney stone and had 3 miscarriages in that time. The most recent miscarriage was at 20 weeks on Xmas Eve so I've been told to stop TTC until I get the post mortem results in 12 weeks.
The plan is to get a physically fit and mentally ready as possible without stressing out. My plans are accupuncture, running, yoga and trying to cut down on alcohol. What changes if any have you all made?

zedxox · 11/01/2021 21:47

Hey,
Yes we are, so came off the pill 14th December after 10 years. Had withdrawal bleed soon after, now awaiting AF, I've felt achy for weeks.. but nothing yet.. heard it can take a few months?
Ideally would like to be totally open to conceiving from May as that's when I'd be eligible for some mat pay and I figured would be good to lose some pounds/ get on the folic acid and vit D and let cycles bottom out. But the approach is to 'see what happens'.. deep down I'll be monitoring and checking I am sure..
Exciting to just be able to join a chat and get involved at this stage Smilexxx

ploopypleepy · 11/01/2021 21:26

Yeah it is, takes a while for things to settle into place but it's great now. They're boys, 5 and 15! Yeah they are thank goodness Smile How old is your sc? Is your DC desperate for another sibling?

That will be great to see how your getting on! I'm the same ... definitely test after a missed period otherwise I feel I'd jinxed it! Much better to have two dark lines than a squinter Grin hopefully in a couple of months we will be comparing lines.

2021ComeAtMe · 11/01/2021 20:58

Ahh it's lovely having a blended family in my opinion - I do have it easier than most though! I get on very well with my DSC's Mum Smile how old are your SC? Are they hoping for another sibling?

Well I'm happy to stick around on here and compare if you'd like to! I'm expecting my next period on the 30th(ish) if I go straight back to how long my cycle was when I was last off it a few years ago. I think I'll probably wait until I'm at least a few days passed then, so some time in the first week of Feb (I say this now, may feel differently then haha)

I tested a whole week after my period was due when TTC my youngest! Genuinely didn't think I was pregnant then, but it was so nice to see two very dark lines on my test. I'd hate to test too early and get my hopes up so if I can wait, I'll test a bit late I think Smile will you test at the end?

OP posts:
ploopypleepy · 11/01/2021 20:16

Ahh lovely, my partner has kids too so I know the feeling!!

I have no idea when I will ovulate .... if I take this withdrawal bleed as a real period then I would assume I ovulate on around the 24/25th. But yeah like you said it could be any time! Will be interesting to see how things pan out with you as we are on similar dates. Will you be doing pregnancy tests at the end of the two week wait ??

2021ComeAtMe · 11/01/2021 19:29

@ploopypleep My apologies, I didn't read your first reply properly - I'm so sorry about your miscarriage, I can only imagine how hard it is Thanks

This will be my 2nd pregnancy - I have an older stepchild who spends lots of time with us so in my heart I have 2 children already Smile so this will be my 3rd child, but my 2nd baby!

Pretty much the same here! Have upped my exercise, and trying to cut back on the rubbish food. Enjoyed a few drinks over Christmas and NY but knocked that on the head now and also taking folic acid and vitamin D Grin

Do you have a rough idea when you'll be ovulating? I think I'll be around the 18th but with this being my first month off the pill I'm aware that anything could happen!
