Husband and I have had various losses the last almost two years. Last year we had our baby boy prematurely and heartbreakingly died an hour after he was born. Since then we have been trying unsuccessfully- some months, I think through the grief I would make myself believe that there was a line.

I’m 8 days post ovulation today and I think I can see a vvv faint pink line that came within the ‘window’.

I don’t want to tell my husband and get his hopes up bcos I’m scared that I’ve got line eyes. I am feeling a little rough which prompted me to take the test so maybe I am pregnant?

Oh OP your update is like a beautiful ray of sunshine in an otherwise awful week.

I have everything crossed for you.

bert3400 · 16/03/2021 05:38

This is absolutely the best news and I can completely understand your decision to keep the news under your hat. Please keep us updated OP .

Thank you guys!

I’m sorry I’m a little late updating but I’m pleased to say I’m still pregnant!

I think it’s safe to say I’ve been petrified the last few weeks and have put off updating this thread bcos I believed something would go wrong before I reached week 12. I’m
Pleased to say though that I’m almost 14 weeks and still going strong. I’ve had a number of scans now, two reassurance scans at week 8 & 11. The 12 week scan and a cervical measurement scan yesterday (measuring at 28mm) and everything seems fine for now. I do feel relieved but I know it’s still early and I didn’t lose my son until a little later - so worried about those weeks & the same potentially happening again.

With my son we kept being told by hospital doctors I have less than 1% chance of losing him (at that stage in the pregnancy) and now we’ve been told there’s a 15% chance of something going wrong, due to my arcuate uterus (which can lead to premature birth) and previous history. I have a cervical scan weekly until I get to week 18/19 and then every two weeks.

Partner and I haven’t told any family or friends and I think we both want to get past the 5/6months point before we do. It’s strange keeping it from our families, especially my mum and sister since I told them very early on in the previous pregnancies. It’s a conscious choice though- I don’t want constant worried phone calls from my lovely mum so have decided to focus on us & getting as far down this pregnancy as we can.

Grateful for any words of wisdom from anyone who’s been through something similar- how did you cope in the second trimester, do you have any tips?

Also would love to hear from anyone who has had cervical scanning - how did that go for you? I’ve been told about the options of progesterone and stitch and That some women opt to get it now to be on the safe side. One of my big concerns is that I will start bleeding/leak amniotic fluid & go into spontaneous labour like I did with our son and then it’ll be too late to get a stitch. Something I’ll bring up with them next time I see them but would welcome your experiences/advice on any aspect of this.

Thank you!!

NoGoodPunsLeft · 06/02/2021 14:27

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you OP 🤞🏻

Greenbks · 06/02/2021 10:01

Just an update. I’m 8 weeks tomorrow and have a scan next Wednesday to see how the pregnancy is progressing.

I’ve had brown spotting for two weeks every time I wipe and with our previous losses we’re just going to see what the scan says and take it one day at a time.

Congratulations OP!

I too had an ' am I, am I not?' situation and a very faint line with DD1 after having a miscarriage the year before; that faint line is now 20 and at university Smile

Hayley234 · 27/01/2021 13:56

Hi HELP needed, I am eight days late and day seven I wiped and some pink then when I wipe today it's a dark brown I did two tests last week and one had a very faint line but other one negitive, should I test tomorrow? Period obviously should have been last week I am unsure what all these different abbreviations mean as new to all this. Tummy feels strange sometimes too Smile

Thank you for the advice! I have a big soft spot for midwives and think they are the best after we had our son. Our midwife was our saviour.

Completely agree with line obsessing- I can see that happening if I continue so Definitely won’t be doing the tests everyday. I feel happy enough to have seen that line get darker. I have one FR and two clear blues that I want to use up so I’ll do the FR on the day of my period or after and the clear blue just to see pregnancy is progressing. But I’m not buying any more so the temptation is not there.

Although the symptoms I’ve been having are a constant reminder I’m pregnant and seem to get stronger each day which when I think back to my son they weren’t as strong by this point, in fact I only took a test at 11DPO which was positive and I remember thinking I feel great, there were barely any symptoms until after I missed my period.

So hopefully it’s a good sign! Thanks again. ❤️

Really am happy for you OP. Might be worth setting limits on testing, in my experience as a midwife continual peeing on sticks can feed rather than soothe anxiety over early pregnancy losses. Is that line darker? Oh maybe it isn’t, oh no what does that mean... etc etc. I’ve been contacted by women very distressed about this type of thing. If it really helps you, just agree a limit and be aware it’s not an exact science ❤️
