@PurpleUnicorn01 strange. Did you have to do the SA at home and take it in? Or was it done there? Time and temperature can affect motility.

Good that it improved @PurpleUnicorn01 and I assume the % balances out if count went up.

My husband had a hight count at 180mil and I’m assuming it’ll be lower this time as he abstained for fewer days. But what use is a high count if many are dead or wonky swimmers 😔. Fingers crossed the supplements he’s been on and the adjusted abstinence/frequency of ejaculation will help improve things when we get them.

However motility has dropped from 45% to 27% which is very weird as now that's abnormal.

The tablets above might be good for anyone with a low count though.

It’s possible yeah @dogmam. But I’ve stopped testing because the CB sticks are expensive, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if my period comes. Sometimes ovulation is quite late for me, just not often. I do think the drugs are messing things up though.

SA has not come back yet as far as I know.

@PurpleUnicorn01 What did the SA go to and from? Dh had low motility and low vitality last time.

And yeah as everyone else said, ivf works with poor motility

Yeah low motility is probably the best problem to have for ivf really (assuming there aren't like zero). They'll just pick out the best ones to put with the egg. But they'll do ICSI if they have to.

@PurpleUnicorn01 it's def fine for ivf! Swimmers don't need to go anywhere with ivf so low motility shouldn't really have an impact I'd have thought? Means you're a good candidate really and if that counts as MFI you can skip the two year wait?

My OH came back this time it was low motility this time but count was fine. But last time count was low motility was fine.

Do they still offer ivf if the motility is low. I don't really want iui as i heard it doesn't really work too well

Hey everyone. I’m so behind on all the threads so haven’t had a chance to catch up yet. Hope you’re all faring well!

My body has decided it’s just not gonna ovulate this month (probably the meds I’m on), so I guess it’s good we aren’t trying this cycle anyway .

We called for the second SA results and they said they’re not in yet because they’re only getting two Royal Mail deliveries per week or something....not sure what that’s about but I guess we’ll try again Friday.

@dogmam we've not really been anywhere together so it was weird having a trip out! Almost normal. I feel OK about it all- pretty positive. I'm not going to assume it'll work but I feel ok about doing it. Worth a try!

I've not heard of those things but I know what you mean. Some people use moon cups or whatever they have to hand. I've never tried it.

@dogmam I've got one and used it for the first time this cycle! Will let you know in 6 days whether or not it worked 😄

@PurpleUnicorn01 i know it will! The only thing that might slow it is if I have to have an extra blood test. DH had one for something specific in his family. If it comes back he's a carrier then I'll have to have a test. I'm then not sure what that even means in terms of carrying on, if both were positive (although it's unlikely for me). But my test might not be back in time, if I have to have it. I've got to email midweek next week to see if his results are back. We shall see.....

@PurpleUnicorn01 just so relieved the hsg is over to be honest! But yeah, good i think? If blood tests are back and everything OK then we can start next cycle. Which is just over 2 weeks away! Seems a bit soon!

Appointment went well today. I asked all I need to. We are entitled to 3 rounds of medicated iui and if for some reason it goes wrong (over stimulated or you get covid etc) it doesn't count. You get 3 actual tries. Hopefully these will be back to back but it hinges on if you want to, and how many others need it that month. They prioritise the people who didn't have it the previous month. If it doesn't work we can have 1 round of ivf and the wait time is about 3 months atm. So not bad at all?
They sent us for bloods (I'm to email next week and see if results back) and DH had to fill in a consent form. HSG wasn't too bad at all. I was bricking it but I didn't find it awful. Slight cramps (I took ibuprofen before) but not as bad as period pain or anything and over pretty quick. No weird foof cleaning like@Juno231had 🤣 and they were women. So far I've found everything really good and positive and them supportive. I feel like I've had a day out! Strange going anywhere. Theoretically we can start IUI next cycle. All my tests have come back OK - no why we can't conceive I've no bloody idea. DHs last SA was normal. So whether it's the progesterone I've no idea?

Definitely don't correct them on the 2 year mark @juno231 but it's strange your investigations haven't really shown much different to mine, yet they are trying IUI with me? Maybe it's the spotting that's swinging it? So you have to wait until July before you can even apply? Or is it they are letting you apply in July ready for September (and so in fact know that's the correct month)?

@Juno231 yes I see what you mean and you're right at least you can get that test done. And it's great that have it down as July so it's no as far as the end of the year.

@PurpleUnicorn01 @dogmam well remember this just means there's nothing wrong with the tests they've done - but there's lots they can't test for or won't test for on the NHS. So it's frustrating more than anything. I'm glad I can get a laparoscopy done whilst I wait though - it feels productive still.

She had no idea what the wait times were but I might email her secretary to see if there's anything they can tell me. I came off the pill in Sep 2019 but their paperwork says July is my 2 year mark so I'm not going to correct them on that...

That's a relief at least that everything is okay with both of you. Did she book you in for the 2 year mark then?

So I had my results follow up appointment with the doc this morning (she was half an hour late lol). All test results are fine (AMH of 21.3 so I'm relieved) and OH's SA showed 84m/ml, 7% morphology and 72% motility so that's really good too. So basically she said I am officially diagnosed as having unexplained infertility. Next steps is waiting until the two year mark to apply for IVF.

I asked her whether we'd be good candidates for IUI (privately) and she said no there's no point as I ovulate well and there's no MFI so there's no added benefit to it compared to just good old regular BD.

She did offer to refer me for a laparoscopy so that's what I'll be waiting for next.
