First month TTC

Hi ladies,

I’m new to this and would really appreciate your help. This is my first month TTC. I’m currently on CD4 so still middle of my period. Just wondering what helped you all conceive in your first month of trying and any tips you have. I have clearblue OPK ready and have been tracking my cycles for a which vary from 27-34 day cycles with 2 random 45 day cycles one of them being my last cycle.

Anyone else TTC this month?

Thanks in advance x

@PineappleSun it’s lush finding people in a similar boat, we can all go crazy together Grin I think I’ll feel a lot more chilled after the first month, I mean that’s probably a big fat lie BUT atleast I’ll understand my cycles more, maybe? Hmm

Me & DH are aiming to DTD every other day basically until AF shows up because ovulation is a mysterious thing Grin

PineappleSun · 06/01/2021 22:07

@shannonl26 absolutely! I've been watching for a week trying to decide who my people are and which thread to join. I've also been googling all the acronyms so I sound vaguely like I know what I'm talking about Xmas Grin

shannonl26 · 06/01/2021 21:53

@PineappleSun it’s mad how no matter how much you tell yourself your going to take a relaxed approach, it quickly consumes you Grin

I find myself constantly reading through different threads on here to pass the time by, I think it’s because it’s my first month so I’m still getting to grips with understanding it all! That’s what I’m telling myself anyway hahaha

PineappleSun · 06/01/2021 21:26

@RadDarwazeh hi to you too! I'm still learning everything and when I found ovulation can be different days every month I thought I'd better get some, plus any excuse to buy exciting new things. I'm sure they'll get tedious as the months go on though.

shannonl26 · 06/01/2021 21:24

@Moneypenny007 if you & DH feel ready then go for it!

@Rmd123 that sounds like a plan, no need to stress about work yet, there’s a whole adventure infront of you yet! A very exciting one.

I’m in the care industry, with days that can be tough both physically & mentally so I’ll just have the conversation with my manager when the positive test comes!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Moneypenny007 · 06/01/2021 21:20

@Rmd123 At the minute we are ok, I changed in September last year and I think regardless of baby or not my contract would be pretty much up this time next year. I'm the main earner, but dh is working too. This will be our 3rd and last baby. I had pnd after the last one so put off ttc with all that was going on. I dont want the age gap to be any bigger than it already is.

RadDarwazeh · 06/01/2021 21:19

@PineappleSun hi! Mmm nandos. I am craving it now haha! I haven't done any ovulation tests I'm just tracking on an app. Maybe I should try it though

Rmd123 · 06/01/2021 21:14

@Moneypenny007 hi! I'm in Ireland too. I also wanted to change jobs this year. We've decided to start trying now as DH is working from home and I'm off work until the beauty industry re opens.

I'm going to figure out work after we hopefully have our first child. I will most likely do 3/4 day weeks and my current position only have full time available so I said I'd worry about all that after we have a baby. It would be a nice countdown in work too!

If you are ok financially why not see how things go!

Moneypenny007 · 06/01/2021 21:06

Hi sorry to jump in at such a late stage. We were planning on ttc this month but the way things are going we are nervous. We have put it off a couple of times due to job moves etc and we had decided on January but we are going into another lockdown etc here ( ireland) and I am unsure if we should press pause again.

PineappleSun · 06/01/2021 20:48

Hi all, hope I can join you. I'm on cycle 1 trying for #1. I had my implant out in October and went on pre conception vitamins. I'm currently 3dpo and amazed at how obsessed I am already!
I did try opk for the first time but didn't really know what I was doing so not too optimistic this month, got a 50 pack coming tomorrow so hopefully will get better with those.
Having said all that I do feel bloated and have sore nips but probably a combination of wishful thinking and the massive nandos for tea Grin

greenfrogs1 · 06/01/2021 19:19

I agree with what others have said, it's nice to have others to speak to who are going through the same thing and we can all be as clueless as each other! Grin

Eaststreet · 06/01/2021 19:17

Evening ladies!
@Pixiedust018 thanks for the tip on the OPK’s I’ve already done 2 today and was thinking of doing another tonight. But I think I will stick to once a day too as I don’t want to get too carried away.

Lockdown is actually going ok for me, I’m probably one of the very lucky ones but I’ve had previous jobs where I’ve worked from home so it was an easy transition and I have a great team at work who keep it engaging. I also don’t know anybody who has really been affect by COVID so I definitely count myself very lucky. Hope it is going ok for everyone else too!

RadDarwazeh · 06/01/2021 19:10

Keep tracking girls. I have up for a bit end of 2020 but started putting data in daily since new year. It's also good mentally to be aware of what stage we are in! I feel such good vibes and solidarity from us all. Thanks for updating us @Rmd123 Smile

Rmd123 · 06/01/2021 19:00

Hi everyone!

Re blood this morning, it has gotten heavier and some clots so I'm thinking it's either AF or another withdrawal bleed from the pill. I had no symptoms I'd usually have very sore enlarged boobs and awful cramps. Had some minor cramps.

I'm going to assume I'm CD1 now, I've added it into my ClearBlue app so it will keep track of it all. God this baby making thing is more complex than I thought 😂

Had positive OPKS on the 1st 2nd and 3rd but no peak so assuming I didn't ovulate. ClearBlue app is telling me to use them again from the 10th so will do as I'm told.

Pixiedust018 · 06/01/2021 18:24

@shannonl26 I’m in CD7 so will start my OPKs in 2 days. I normally ovulate around CD 15/16 so going to start DTD every other day from Friday.

@Pixiedust018 fab thank you! I’ll stick to once a day :) I’m definitely due to ovulate soon I can feel it! How are we all doing? Any updates?

Pixiedust018 · 06/01/2021 17:46

@shannonl26 I’m going to use mine once a day and I’ve done that previously to track my cycles and that’s worked fine for me. They say not use OPK with FMU so I do mine in the afternoon but try to do them at the same time for more accurate results as you could miss the peak.

shannonl26 · 06/01/2021 17:35

Hi @Pixiedust018 hope your ok! OPKs arrived late afternoon, so done 1 not so long ago & negative for the time being! Any advice on how often to do OPKs? AM & PM? Multiple times a day? I’ve said it again I’ll probably say it a lot more, I have no clue Grin

Pixiedust018 · 06/01/2021 16:54

Hi everyone!

How’s everyone coping with lockdown?

Any updates?

It’s lovely to see everyone is so supportive of each other! Lovely to see women supporting women! Love that a group of strangers can come together and support each other. Maybe the world isn’t all that cruel.

Good luck to everyone TTC this month I hope we all get our BFP at the end xx

CD16 that should say sorry. Last AF finished on 30th.

shannonl26 · 06/01/2021 16:53

Snap! I feel stupid! I’m on CF16, my cycles have been known to be long so when I inputted previous dates flo predicts full ovulation on 13th, however I’m currently in my fertile window. I’m going to have a look at that other app your using too :)

I’m so excited to get to know everything properly & for the adventure to begin, but feel like I keep asking dumb questions that I should know the answers too Grin

Eaststreet · 06/01/2021 16:08

@shannonl26 that’s what I feel like, I am so new to this and feeling clueless. Also feeling a bit stupid that I didn’t realise there was so much to it.
Flo is telling me my ovulation date is the 8th and Premom which is the one I’ve downloaded to log the OPK’s is telling me the 7th. So they seem quite accurate. Going to test tomorrow and Friday multiple times. A friend told me she was testing 7 times a day at one point but did get a BFP that month.

I would definitely say you’re not too late if Flo is saying the 13th, do you know what CD you are on? I would start using them now if you have ewcm , as Flo could definitely be wrong. I think it takes a few cycles to get into the swing of knowing what is going on. Hopefully none of us will be waiting that long though Grin

shannonl26 · 06/01/2021 15:38

My OPKs arrived today, pretty sure I'm ovulating soon as I have ewcm, but I'm going to take this month as a trial month because I have no clue what the hell is going on Grin I feel totally clueless!!

It's nice to see a few of us in the same boat, lovely to be able to relate to a few of you. It's all so confusing! Flo predicts the 13th as my ovulation date so only time will tell! Do I start using my OPKs now as I have ewcm? Am I too late to start?? Honestly so many questions Grin

Eaststreet · 06/01/2021 14:57

@RadDarwazeh yesss I go through phases of excitement and then worry!

We had initially planned to start ttc next Jan but we are cancelling our wedding again this year due to covid. We didn’t want to waste another year, and only decided to actually start trying a few weeks ago so it all feels a bit sudden but exciting. This will be my first month taking an actual test! Eek!

@emilyylouise Welcome! I started using Flo to track my period so I could get a rough idea of everything. And I’ve literally only received my OPK’s today. I think you start to test about CD10 but that’s just what I have read online. There are a few ladies on here that seem a lot more clued up on them who can probably say when is best to start testing.
I’m still figuring it out.

emilyylouise · 06/01/2021 14:36

Hi everyone!
I'm also on my first month of TTC. Came off lucette in November, had my withdrawal bleed a week later and have only just got my first proper period this week! I've ordered ovulation strips but I'm not sure what I'm doing with them lol! I also don't know how accurate my app is as to when I'm ovulating or not as I've read it can be 3/4 days out of sync.
I thought I was pregnant last month as I didn't get a period but then it came this week 😓
