Hi ladies,

I’m new to this and would really appreciate your help. This is my first month TTC. I’m currently on CD4 so still middle of my period. Just wondering what helped you all conceive in your first month of trying and any tips you have. I have clearblue OPK ready and have been tracking my cycles for a which vary from 27-34 day cycles with 2 random 45 day cycles one of them being my last cycle.

Anyone else TTC this month?

Thanks in advance x

@Delilah221 I think the apps are great and mine has been quite accurate (Flo is only one day out on my ovulation) but I know friends who it’s been very inaccurate for too.
I ordered some opk’s and I honestly feel so much better since using them, I feel like I’ve taken a bit more control over the whole thing. Even though I had a pretty (ish) good idea when I would be ovulating. I’d maybe recommend them and see how you get on. Wishing you the best of luck!

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:03

@shannonl26 - Thank you!!

Aww, it's so hard not to get excited about it all though isn't it! Especially with friends and family having babies! I just can't wait to finally get a BFP but it feels so far away yet!

Best of luck, hope you get yours soon!!

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:00

@FieldView - Thank you for the welcome! Ah it's frustrating isn't it. Especially not having a clue about cycles pre-contraception! I'm really trying to relax about it all but as everyone says, easier said than done!
I'm just using the app, as i wanted somewhere to put my symptoms and odd days of spotting etc. According to the app, this week is my fertile window, and i had some ovulation CM (TMI) that i'd read about, and thought oh wow maybe there's some truth in the app lol, so we DTD a couple of days ago, but then had spotting again today :( Just so confusing!

@Eaststreet - Thank you!! :) Yes, I'm really trying to be more laid back about it, but it's hard to just relax and DTD as i keep getting random days of spotting so nervous to just go for it as the spotting is so unexpected!
I just keep trying to tell myself it's only been 1 month so to give it some time. But i'd like to keep tracking to keep up to date on my symptoms etc. I also have had incredibly sore boobs for the past few days, but assumed that it was another symptom of post pill hormones!

I already feel better today having spoke openly on here, and everyone is so lovely!!

Wishing you all best of luck!

@Delilah221welcome to the madness!!

I’ve been to see my friend today (doorstep chat social distancing) who’s about to turn 19 weeks pregnant with her first & if anything it’s made me more obsessed! I’m getting impatient before anything has evening happened Grin

How are we all feeling this evening ?

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 15:49

@Delilah221 Welcome Smile

It’s such an exciting time for us all but I totally feel your frustration and the stress already.
I had my implant out end of September and December was the first month I had what I’d call a normal cycle. I think it may take a bit of time for your body to adjust again, it did with me.
I’d definitely recommend tracking everything though, it’s really helped me to be able to now see I’m in a regular cycle again. Mine was all over the place in October and November. I think the number one bit of advice at this stage is to try and relax about it all, I know it’s hard but I feel a lot better after I tell myself to chill out a bit. It’s very easy to get wrapped up in it all.

Everyone in this thread seems to be so supportive and at the same stage and I feel a lot better already about everything just knowing there’s some people out there in a similar position.

FieldView · 07/01/2021 15:45

Welcome @Delilah221!

I totally understand! I came off the combined pill in September or October. Having been on BC for 17 years with no breaks I had no idea what my cycles would be like! Turns out they're really long (around 35 days). I think things take a little while to settle down.

It's very difficult not to stress, particularly when it's the first cycle I think.

Are you using OPKs at all or just the app for now?

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 15:04

Hi All,

Hoping to join the chat!

Took my last pill 4 weeks ago and been TTC this week for our first.

I've had some crazy symptoms from coming off the mini pill and am still waiting for a proper AF :( Only some light spotting of brown discharge (Sorry TMI) and no luck of AF arriving yet :(

I've added everything/all symptoms to a new app I downloaded called clue. I've been on the mini pill/depo injection for 10 years with no breaks/no periods so no idea of what my cycles would be like!

Also have been taking seven seas TTC for the past 2 weeks!

I was so excited to start trying but only a few weeks in and i'm already stressing over it all! :(

Any advice/support will be great :)

Good luck to you all!!

The stats are confusing, I read that you only have a 1 in 4 chance of conceiving each month even if you do everything right. Having said that, my oldest friend did indeed conceive her first in the first cycle, hopefully her luck will rub off on us all!

Annabelle0852 · 07/01/2021 12:12

@FieldView I keep thinking the same thing! Statistically one of us must! I got the Internet cheapie OPKs and was doing them 3 times a day 😂 I'm over it now... now I just wanna wee on a HPT!!

Also 3DPO and agree it is draaaagging.

Baby dust to us all... one of us must get lucky! 🤞

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 11:52

@FieldView some quick googling and it says 1/3 of couples conceive within the first month. I don’t think I’ve come across anyone in real life who has though.

I don't blame you. I keep wanting to do another one every 15 minutes to see if anything has changed but having to restrain myself. I’m finding them easy to upload onto the app and it reads them for you, but if I didn’t have the app I wouldn’t have a clue what I was doing with them. I’ve not tried the expensive ones yet, I might wait a few months to see how it goes with these.

FieldView · 07/01/2021 11:29

Does anyone know what the stats are for conceiving in the first month? I feel like at least one of this group should get lucky with all the effort we're putting in!

I'm only 3DPO and boy, are the days dragging. Hopefully I'll obsess a little less next month.

I haven't dared buy the cheapie sticks as I fear I'll be in and out of the bathroom every hour! Interested to know how you get on with them though. Are they easy to read?

PineappleSun · 07/01/2021 11:29

@Eaststreet @shannonl26

It was Femometer I downloaded the other day not premom, avoid Femometer it was all paid stuff. I'll wait for Mr Amazon to turn up and have a look at the leaflet, I can see myself ending up with two or three apps at this rate! Thanks ladies, this is already so helpful!

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 11:02

@PineappleSun

I haven’t used any of the other features, so not sure what you need to pay for , but I have been able to add the opk’s to it. It’s in the ‘tests’ section.

The reading comes from adding them to the app, you sort of take a photo of them and I think it scans them and gives a reading. They’re just the cheapy ones too. Sorry if my explanation isn’t great it’s only my second day using them so I’m not 100% on it all 😂.

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 10:58

@Eaststreet well I just downloaded that premom app, thanks for pointing me in the right direction! & it says in 1DPO so completely diff to flo Grin ofcourse the app is just guessing my cycle, it’s my very first month so I’m not going to take anything as 100%. I’m going to do another opk now see where I’m at.

I think month 2 even month 3 I’ll have a MUCH better understanding Grin

PineappleSun · 07/01/2021 10:54

I'll have a look at Flo, Clue has a few irritating features and Flo seems pretty popular. My 50 pack arrives today so i'll see what the leaflet says, I feel like I did briefly download Premom but couldn't work out how to use it without paying the subscription.
Forgive me @Eaststreet but when you say 1.3, is that a digital opk or a number from the app? I've just been using the cheapy strips.

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 10:46

@shannonl26 I think it’s ‘Ovulation tracker by Pre Mom’ . My opk’s came with a leaflet about it, they were the ones from Amazon, 50 in the box.
I haven’t had a good look into all the features but I’ve been uploading my opk’s.
Speaking of which I have just had a high reading, but it was still only 1.3 , I think it should be up around 3-4 at the peak but at least it is getting higher. I am going to test again tonightGrin

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 10:33

@Eaststreet @PineappleSun

I haven’t seen clue, I’ll have a nosey at that one I think! I love looking at all the different apps Grin I’m not paying extreme attention to them this month as a few of them gave me completely different ovulation dates Grin

I do love Flo, it’s so simple to use & has all the info you need. As it’s only my first month TTC it suits me well, doesn’t overwhelm you.

I had a look on my Apple App Store but I couldn’t find pre mom, unless I’m just missing it?

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 09:41

@PineappleSun @shannonl26

I am excited for us too! Hoping one of us gets a BFP this month but that’s probably wishful thinking!

I am using Flo too, which I’m finding good to use, I think it helps to have something you can look at and use. It makes me feel a bit more in control of this journey. This will be my first month using it and using OPK’s so I’m interested to see how accurate the ovulation prediction is on it.

Has anyone downloaded the Premom app, you can take the photos of your OPK’s and it scans them to give you a reading. I’m not sure how accurate it is. But I am enjoying it!

PineappleSun · 07/01/2021 09:28

I'm only using Clue at the moment, I quite like the layout but it annoys me that I can't put my own ovulation in based on opk. I did have Ovia for a while but I found the along of data you could enter a bit overwhelming. How is Flo working for you?

PineappleSun · 07/01/2021 09:25

@Eaststreet SO many, fmu was the first one today.. Let us know what your test says, might just be the first cycle effect but I'm so excited for everyone

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 09:25

@PineappleSun I’m using Flo atm, I had a look at a few other apps like Ovia & found Flo to be the most user friendly, what ones are you using? I’m going to give it a few hours before testing then!

@Eaststreet ahh thank you, that sounds like a plan. I’m slowly getting the hang of understanding my cycles & how it all works. I’ve still got achy legs & dull belly aches so I think it could be here anytime soon now, hopefully me & DH catch the peak! How are you?

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 09:21

@PineappleSun I’m glad I’ve not been the only one googling acronyms!! There are SO many I can’t keep track!

@shannonl26 I’ve read that a few times on various threads it can give a false positive. I’m waiting until about 10am to do mine. I’m desperate to do it as I am sure I’m ovulating very soon.

PineappleSun · 07/01/2021 09:20

@shannonl26 I'm no expert by any means, things I've read say wait until the early afternoon as LH rises throughout the day and don't drink loads in the couple of hours before. I thought I had a positive two days after Clue said I was ovulating but I've seen other people mention the result line should be as strong as the control line and mine was weaker. I did five tests over four days (I had a duff one) and it definitely got stronger as time went on so hopefully we dtd around the peak but I'm not overly optimistic with it being the first cycle and all. Are you using any tracking apps?

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 09:13

@PineappleSun oh I know, I don’t say a lot to DH, if I find my own cycle confusing he certainly isn’t going to understand Grin

Our main thing is to NOT turn it into a chore & still enjoy each other.

I’ve heard not to do a opk with fmu as it can be inaccurate, is this true? I’ll wait a few hours now before doing one today but thought I’d get your opinions on it Smile

PineappleSun · 06/01/2021 22:52

@shannonl26 you're right, it's great to find all these women at exactly the same stage as well. I think I'll drive DH insane if I only talk to him about it, he is trying to learn though, bless him.
I think I'd be too knackered for every other day at the moment but I can see me turning into a total sex pest if nothing happens for a few months!
