Hi ladies,

I’m new to this and would really appreciate your help. This is my first month TTC. I’m currently on CD4 so still middle of my period. Just wondering what helped you all conceive in your first month of trying and any tips you have. I have clearblue OPK ready and have been tracking my cycles for a which vary from 27-34 day cycles with 2 random 45 day cycles one of them being my last cycle.

Anyone else TTC this month?

Thanks in advance x

@PositiveParrot

Hi all! Late in the month but room for a newbie?
Hi @PositiveParrot how are you?
PositiveParrot · 18/01/2021 14:49

Hi all! Late in the month but room for a newbie?

Kittysw · 18/01/2021 14:23

@PineappleSun I'm still the same as well tiny bit of brown tinge as @shannonl26 said. This is completely not normal for me. I never normally have any spotting before AF I normally have cramps the day/evening before and then there she appears the next day. Its so odd, I doubt its implantation though as its a little late I would of thought. Just still awaiting the arrival of AF.

@melissa112 My BMI is also over 30 classed in the Obese range. I honestly wouldn't pin much onto BMI. I personally don't anyway. Working in the fitness profession there are so many other factors to think about. Personally I swim for around 5 hours a week high intensity training and have an active job (this has changed due to lockdown) but have been this was for some time. Like I think it was Pineapple said if your body is ready then its ready. I would just make some positive changed to your routine rather than anything drastic. As for the folic acid prescription I wouldn't have a clue with trying for our first.

Who are the next people to start testing?

shannonl26 · 18/01/2021 11:51

@PineappleSun nope no AF, had another TINY bit of brown tinge this morning, still got lower belly cramps & bad back though so I’m just waiting for the full arrival now! How are you feeling?

PineappleSun · 18/01/2021 10:20

@melissa112 Yes, i've heard people say that it means you get to see your baby more than usual. I haven't actually phoned the GP yet, that's a job I will do before lunch though, my friend was in a similar position and talked me through what will happen. It might also be a factor in birth choices apparently, for example you might not get the option of a water birth or home birth.

melissa112 · 18/01/2021 10:11

Thank you for the advice ladies. I think we will give it a go this month then and see what happens. I've messaged the GP to ask for a higher dose of folic acid.

@PineappleSun yes that's a really good point about your body clearly being healthy enough to conceive, and I did read that there will be close monitoring to ensure any risks are reduced so that's a relief. Huge congratulations to you. Did the GP give you the prescription once you discovered you were pregnant? I second the Ovia app. I used it during my first pregnancy and it was really helpful

Good luck to anyone testing soon. Sorry to see AFs arrival @FieldView but good news on the 30 day cycle!

PineappleSun · 18/01/2021 09:51

Welcome to all the new ladies, this is a lovely group to be in.

@Kittysw @shannonl26 have you had any more spotting, has AF properly arrived or could it be implantation bleeding?

@RadDarwazeh and @Eaststreet best of luck for tomorrow, give us an update asap!

@melissa112, confession time, my bmi is higher than yours, another reason I was so surprised to see it happen so soon and why i'm cautious about getting too excited so soon. There is a good NHS page about being overweight in pregnancy - yes you do need a higher dose of folic acid, you'll be given a prescription for it.
The NHS page will give you all the facts and ultimately its up to you whether you feel you have the time to lose some weight and then however long it could take to conceive or do it in tandem. We decided to just start, thinking it could take a year, I had a major panic about this on Saturday night but part of me thinks if my body wasn't healthy enough to conceive, I wouldn't have.

@FieldView I cried over a fork yesterday..

A recommendation for when there are more BFPs, the Ovia pregnancy app is really good, you can fanny about saving baby names and comparing your embryo to french pastries and fruit for hours.

FieldView · 18/01/2021 09:34

Wowsers, AF has well and truly arrived! I'm out for this month, so on to cycle two me. On the plus side, this has only been a 30 day cycle for me which is a bit of a record!

Baby dust to everyone still in the game this month ✨

RadDarwazeh · 18/01/2021 09:22

Thank you so much @Eaststreet and good luck to everyone testing soon.

The symptoms are so strange. I'm conscious of everything that's slightly different to normal. Night sweats in particular sound just awful Hun.

Sorry to hear your symptoms woke you up @FieldView that sucks. Wishing you a restful night this evening !

Eaststreet · 18/01/2021 09:14

@FieldView I’ve been having some weird symptoms too! I cried yesterday for no apparent reason (I’m not usually a crier). And I’ve been having pretty awful night sweats, sounds so gross but literally waking up covered. Never had these in my life. I do have some cramps which I’m starting to think might be AF though. I have 2 FRER so I’m going to just do one tomorrow as I don’t think I can wait any longer and if it’s a BFN I’ll wait until Friday when AF is due.

Good luck to you and @RadDarwazeh tomorrow!!

@melissa112 I’m not sure how much I can help either but I don’t see the harm in trying and seeing what happens? If I were you I’d try to get your BMI down at the same time while trying as it may take you a good few months to conceive and I imagine you could get your BMI down in those months too. Re. Folic acid I’m not sure either, maybe see if you can speak to GP over the phone for advice?

DizSquiz · 18/01/2021 09:02

Congratulations @PineappleSun 👶🏼

FieldView · 18/01/2021 08:40

Morning all, and welcome to the new joiners to the group!

@RadDarwazeh similar boat to you...

AF due today or tomorrow but weird things have been happening over the weekend. I cried on and off throughout the day on Saturday for silly little reasons, I had some spotting and headaches yesterday and really bad cramps at 4am which woke me up! After a pretty boring TWW I've now got loads of symptoms to Google 😂

I don't think we timed things right this month so I'm sure the above is all just the lead up to AF. I kind of wish I had a FRER in the house though to put me out of my misery!

It's exciting though as I remember a few of us are all due AF this week 🤞🏻 it would be lovely if someone joined @PineappleSun with a BFP

@melissa112 I don't really know what the answer is but my advice (for what it's worth) would be to just crack on with TTC. It can take a while to get a BFP and during that time you can work on your BMI if you want to? I don't think 30 is bad though, but I'm not a doctor, so don't know whether more folic acid is needed or anything?! Sorry, you're probably more in the know than I am having been though this before! Good luck though with whatever you choose!

melissa112 · 18/01/2021 07:59

Good morning everyone. Im new to this group. Read through the thread and you all seem so lovely!

@PineappleSun big congratulations to you!

I have an almost 2 year old and we are ready to start trying for number 2. I am currently CD2 and my cycle varies between 25-28days normally. We really want to TTC this month but I've just weighed myself and my BMI is 30.2

I was lucky that first time around with my son we weren't actively trying but weren't avoiding either and it happened quite quickly but I'm nearly 34 and my BMI is much higher than it was first time round. Im not expecting it to be a quick process.

However my question is whether I should try and wait and lose some weight or go for it anyway and try to lose whatever weight I can before it happens? We'd really love 2 close in age. If I got pregnant this month, would that be bad with my weight? I read that with a BMI over 30 you should take higher dose of folic acid available on prescription. I've been taking pregnacare conception tablets for the past few weeks so I've been getting folic acid, just not the higher dose

Do any of you ladies have any advice?

RadDarwazeh · 18/01/2021 07:46

Good morning everyone, how are we all?

Quick update on me, I'm frer testing tomorrow as AF is due tomorrow. Pretty sure AF is gonna come though but we will see. Not had any typical AF cramping but have had tender boobs a lot this past week.

I have a day off work tomorrow so I'll try test in the morning and update you as apparently morning is most accurate? If it's a neg at least I can stay home and dive into ice cream.

Keep strong everyone!

Kittysw · 17/01/2021 21:52

@shannonl26 That really made me chuckle. Yeh I have been the same. I'm just waiting to crack out my malibu which is coming with the shopping tomorrow. The one upside of AF arriving I suppose.

shannonl26 · 17/01/2021 21:36

Definitely meant pour, I promise it was only a small glass 😂

shannonl26 · 17/01/2021 21:35

@Kittysw I’ve had nothing since either but I have dull cramps all day so I had a sulk this evening & did poor a small baileys. I’m not even sorry it was needed 😂 I’m just awaiting AF now so I can restart my cycle.

greenfrogs1 · 17/01/2021 18:47

Hi all, so much to catch up on!

Welcome to all you lovely new ladies

@PineappleSun huge congrats!! So very happy for you 🎉

Not much to report here. Day 3 of AF for me. Looking forward to starting OPKs this cycle!

Can't wait to hear if any of you ladies are testing this coming week.

Kittysw · 17/01/2021 18:37

@shannonl26 It really is so confusing. I'm now second guessing slightly as had nothing since and its not like typical before AF spotting that I have ever had before. Who knows... I will just wait and see now.

That's what I'm really worried about that it takes the fun out of DTD and the excitement of the whole process.

Yes here's to remaining "chill" Wink

shannonl26 · 17/01/2021 17:56

@RadDarwazeh hobbies to pass the time sounds good. I need to start getting out on walks more so that’s my goal 😂

@Kittysw so confusing isn’t it. My AF is due around Thursday. I used a handful of opks this month & did find my peak but it almost took the fun out of DTD so I’m going to give them a miss next cycle.

Here’s to trying to remain ‘chill’ eh 😂

Kittysw · 17/01/2021 17:13

@shannonl26 Sounds exactly like mine. I'm 14DPO and AF was due Tuesday however last month was a slightly shorter cycle so maybe my cycles are settling into a shorter one. I only came off the pill in October so still pretty new I guess.

I don't know weather to start tracking with OPK's this month or give it another month of just more of a "chill" approach. This TWW has been anything but... hey ho!

@RadDarwazeh Cross-stitch sounds good I am just planning my hallway and living room décor so that will keep me busy once most of our building work has been done.

RadDarwazeh · 17/01/2021 16:17

Yes girls, if anything it's good to know our bodies more and experience it together with our different tracking styles! Keeping positive. I'm thinking of getting into cross-stitch as a hobby to pass the two week wait next time if applicable to me 😅

shannonl26 · 17/01/2021 16:07

@Kittysw weirdly enough a few moments ago I had brown cm when wiping (sorry tmi) so guess I’m in same position as you with AF popping up early at 10DPO. Oh well on to the next month where I’ll understand my cycle a lot more!

@2020newbie haha I hope he’s furloughed for you too 😂

2020newbie · 17/01/2021 15:51

Thanks girls it’s was certainly unexpected not seeing each other for so long, my fertile window is roughly the end of the month, I’ve had really long cycles since it finally regulated around November after coming off depo last April. Between April and October it was just completely random spotting but since then I’ve been having 42 day long cycles which is much longer than I was before depo.

I’m secretly hoping for DP to be furloughed so I know for sure he will be home to DTD 😂 we had said we could wait to after Christmas and we would just relax because it’s still less than a year since finishing depo we wouldn’t get too consumed.

Moneypenny007 · 17/01/2021 15:38

@Aubyone I'm another gardening head here. We are on our first go this month and I'm trying to stay optimistic. My app says I ovulated last Sunday but I'm pretty sure it was the Friday and I had awful cramps on Friday evening.
Af not due until around the 26th, really hating this wait. Especially difficult with lockdown.
This will be our 3rd child if successful, however we have big gaps with them.
