I would have really really loved a third. We have tried for a long time (3/4 years) but it has never happened and I am now 39. My kids are also 6 and 8 (would be 7 and 9 even if it happened immediately) and so I really think the time has passed now. I will forever feel sad about it, but trying instead to invest all my time and energy in the 2 I already have. I’m constantly torn between the ‘think about 10/20 years down the line for your kitchen table argument’ and feeling guilty for my current children if they missed out on experiences/ trips/ time because of a new baby. Lots of posts I read say a gap like that leaves the last feeling like an only (which many love) but I am an only and didn’t enjoy it….. so I think with sadness I will draw a line at 2 and book lots of things that would be difficult with a baby in tow.
In years to come I would think of maybe fostering and just hope that my kitchen table is full of friends and family as well as my children. It is so so tough though x

@beggingforsleep
Mine are quite a bit older than yours so will both be at school. But would yours be school and maybe Pre school age ? So you could get some days just you and baby ?

My eldest says no more kids too ! So bossy, hehe but I’m sure she’d be besotted with a baby really.

My DH is pretty laid back too ha !

I think the only thing you can do is picture yourself in 5 years time with 2 and with 3 kids. Which do you see yourself as ? And how would you feel.

I think I’d never regret having a third but may well regret no having them.
Not that I’m not scared and apprehensive at the same time !

beggingforsleep · 06/02/2021 09:39

@Bec8700 yes that's the thing isn't it. It's only really a year of things being really hard and we forget it so quickly!

Mine are still very little though. My oldest is only 3.5 and she's adamant that she wants no more siblings because she wants 'mummy to myself'. But she's so good with her little brother I'm sure she'd be fine.

So you're going for it? Argh! Funny how strangers decisions can make me doubt my own!

I'm just praying for an accident. My DH is so laid back he's easy either way. I don't think he'd ever tell me if he really wanted one though as he wouldn't want to seem like he was pressuring me.

Bec8700 · 06/02/2021 09:32

@beggingforsleep
I know exactly what you mean. My youngest only stopped getting into our bed 6 months ago. Me and DH finally have some time together and life is easier.

But ...... I know I will regret it in say 5/10 years time and I think a few years of really hard work sleep deprivation etc will be worth it in the long run. I think how quickly the years have gone with my 2 children. And they’ll both be at school so that’s got to make things a little easier ? Having my second things were hard with baby and toddler but this will not be like that with just baby at home week days.....

I’ve convinced myself and DH after he was reluctant at first as he remembers how hard things were with DC 2.

I do worry about my age, complications etc and what people may think but I also think sod it it’s our family and if it’s what we all want. It will be beautiful chaos haha !

@Bec8700 I was just on this thread looking at all the lovely BFP posts feeling so pleased and excited for everyone and even a little jealous. I'm even more confused! But the kids slept till 8 this morning. Could I go back? I just don't know!

But I don't want to regret it in five years time.

@beggingforsleep
I’m in a similar position almost 39 and been thinking about a 3rd for 1-2 years now ! My two are nearly 7 and 4 so be quite big gaps but we are pretty sure we are going to start trying in the next few months. Nervous and excited I feel I’ve forgotten the whole baby stage and sleep deprivation ! Good luck in what you decide x

rosegold33 · 06/02/2021 08:35

Another clearer bfp today.

Just hoping it sticks. I remember this stage so early on with my 2 other children of how symptons are minimal and then few weeks pass and the sickness comes Confused

Im trying to to overthink.

@Equimum

We are! Bigger ones and 5 & 7, and I’m approaching 39, so it all feels a bit crazy, and potentially unlikely to happen, but we have decided to try until April, which would mean a successful pregnancy completing just before I turn 40.

We have talked about another ever since we had DC2, but DH used to travel lots. We had little support and money was more of an issue. DH is unlikely to ever trace as much going forwards and we are much more comfortable financially now. I wish we could have been in the position 3-4 years ago, but we weren’t my and this is our last possible hope.

Hey I’m in a similar position I’m nearly 39 I have 2 children aged 4 and nearly 7 and also feel crazy but like I’d just love one more and feeling excited too ! It’s like I’ve almost forgotten the baby stage and sleepless nights but I feel as I know this will be my last I will really savour every moment ! Good luck !

@onedream that’s fab! Yay!
I know what you mea, I haven’t called mine yet either!

onedream · 15/01/2021 16:19

@Tealchoc that's great, I did too earlier on, line appeared almost immediately and it's nice and strong so fingers crossed it all works out fine..I don't know when to call Gp I somehow can't fully believe it yet 😀

wanderlove · 15/01/2021 16:13

I had my 3rd at 39. She was the last and we really debated whether to do it. She has been such a dream we are now considering a 4th! I'd had 40 as a cut off but am now thinking of ttc at 41.

Tealchoc · 15/01/2021 15:53

Hi @onedream! Yes I did thanks! The line was a bit darker. How about you?!

onedream · 15/01/2021 14:59

did you retest @Tealchoc?

Tealchoc · 11/01/2021 18:09

@Mishmased thank you!

@onedream I’m going to try and wait til Thursday!

@Tamalama oh no, I feel for you :( Did you get ms this bad previously or do you think it’s because of twins?

X

Tamalama · 11/01/2021 18:01

@Tealchoc thank you. I'm still in shock to be honest and the morning sickness is horrendous! I'm 7 weeks today 🙂

onedream · 11/01/2021 17:14

@Tealchoc will you test again and when?

onedream · 11/01/2021 17:13

@Mishmased thank you Smile I'm definitely getting more and more excited, the line looked more darker after some more time so it looks promising..it will be just lovely, fingers crossed, I have cramps today all day so hope it's all as it should be in there, will retest on Thursday or Friday if I can hold on until then :-)

Mishmased · 11/01/2021 16:40

Mishmased · 11/01/2021 16:39

@onedream I've just woken up from my nap to your lovely news. Many congratulations 💃💃💃

Tealchoc · 11/01/2021 14:45

@onedream I know what you mean, it’s hard not to worry early on. It always feels better getting a stronger line! I have one test left too Wink

onedream · 11/01/2021 14:23

Thank you @Tealchoc I'm over the moon but know these next few weeks will be crucial I hope baby sticks in ok and stays put Smile I have one more of these tests so will test end of week to see if the line gets stronger..

Tealchoc · 11/01/2021 14:01

I can see it @onedream!!! Congratulations! And thank you!

onedream · 11/01/2021 13:48
