Hi everyone. My boyfriend and I have been together a year and half and due to me not tolerating hormonal contraception (I tried 4 different pills and had awful side effects with all of them :( with one of them I was even spotting every single day for 3 months. we decided to give up on those and do the withdrawal method. Has anyone fell pregnant using this method?? He pulls out quite early and not at the last second.

@kittycat337

Wow so many of you did!!! Yup I definitely won’t rely on it. Glad I asked now (we only started this method a couple weeks ago or so). My period is due on Monday so let’s see!! I am 27, a baby wouldn’t be ideal right now as my bf and I don’t live together yet and to be honest we never really talked about conceiving babies yet. I will keep you posted next week to let you know if my period came or not (we have used this method during my fertile window)
You haven’t discussed babies yet but you’ve been having sex with no protection. At the age of 27. Well done.

Yes, happened to me - she’s 4 in a couple of weeks Grin

C0NNIE · 25/12/2020 21:20

I don’t know what it says about me that condoms autocorrects to condors Grin

@TomasinaTiers

It’s called the Catholic Method in my country

With a child born about every 2 years (ie about 12 kids per family) Grin

It’s not safe at all

Condoms a better bet

In my family we call it Vatican Roulette!

"Everyone who got pregnant using this method, do you mean to say your partner pulled out before ejaculating and you still got pregnant?"

Yes. Always pulled out well in time. I got pregnant once after 10 years of regular sex (withdrawal every time) so I think the chances are low based on those personal stats.

I think it's a very reliable method of contraception...I swore by this method for 10 years. But then all of a sudden DS happened (now 4)

That said, it did succeed avoid pregnancy during 10 years of pretty regular sex, (DS2 we conceived in month 1 of trying so known no fertility issues)

So although pretty reliable, not as reliable as I thought and I probably wouldn't chance it again.

Many many millions of people have fallen pregnant with that method. If you want kids keep on. If not then do something more.

GammyLeg · 25/12/2020 20:19

Worked for us over the course of about 12 years and two (planned) children. BUT I tracked periods and used condoms during ovulation. And getting pregnant wouldn’t have been the end of the world.

TomasinaTiers · 25/12/2020 20:15

Condors Grin extreme birth control!

Mochudubh · 25/12/2020 20:14

@C0NNIE

Don’t be silly, it’s not reliable. Use condors and use them properly.
Do they just spread their wings out to stop the bloke getting close?

autumncountryleaves · 25/12/2020 20:09

Yes, me - twice!

Used it for ten years, I have a three year old and am 7 months pregnant again Smile

Ismellphantoms · 25/12/2020 19:51

Yes!

Viviennemary · 25/12/2020 19:49

Plenty of people. It's extremely unreliable.

Cosyjimjamsforautumn · 25/12/2020 19:41

There's a word for people who use this method - parents

^^ This. DS is now at Uni Grin

Springfern · 25/12/2020 19:36

I use it, not pregnant yet...touch wood

justkeepmoving11 · 25/12/2020 19:32

We did this successfully for five years when another pregnancy wouldn't have been the end of the world. Switched to condoms when we decided we would really not be happy if it did happen and lo and behold, two months in, condom failed and I was pregnant. I'd try something else though I know it's difficult, my mood was altered so badly on the pill which is why I had stopped originally.

marthastew · 25/12/2020 19:21

Yep - my third child. She is lovely and I wouldn't be without her but absolutely not planned!

golddustwomen · 25/12/2020 19:19

My 3 year old Grin wouldn't change him for the world but shit that method doesn't work ha!
