Has anyone ever got pregnant using withdrawal method?

Hi everyone. My boyfriend and I have been together a year and half and due to me not tolerating hormonal contraception (I tried 4 different pills and had awful side effects with all of them :( with one of them I was even spotting every single day for 3 months. we decided to give up on those and do the withdrawal method. Has anyone fell pregnant using this method?? He pulls out quite early and not at the last second.

DP and I have been not trying/not preventing with withdrawal method for 5 years with not a sniff of pregnancy. Didnt avoid fertile periods just carried on. Had a chat and the first time we properly DTD fully I've become pregnant! Not saying it's the same for everybody but that's us.

The withdrawal method is not a method of contraception.

It's Russian roulette.

Seminal fluid released pre-ejaculation can contain sperm. He will have no notion of releasing it. Do you feel lucky?!

Can you not try the implant or the injection?

The main way a lot of women fall pregnant is when least expected... even planned babies can be a shock. Don’t risk it OP.

Your GP tried to tell you this is a reliable method of contraception? I don’t believe you.

There will always be someone who knows someone who got pregnant from withdrawal /taking the pill/using condoms/ had the coil etc etc. But fact is, our grandparents and the generations before them relied on the rhythm method and withdrawal. And they didn't all have dozens of children, in fact families seemed to be smaller in the earlier part of the 20th century.

As I have stated previously, withdrawal is risky because many men don't know how to do it properly or they lack the control to withdraw at the right time. That's why it's risky - not because of pre cum (there is no sperm in pre cum). If the man can do it properly then this works as a method for many couples.

You’d be surprised if you knew the amount of people relying on this method as an effective one. I’m glad that I came on this forum because I randomly wanted to chat about it and get some feedback, and now we will defo use condoms. But yeah I’m not gonna lie I did believe it was working. Even my GP said it was extremely rare to find Sperm in precum and even if and there is some, there isn’t enough to enable someone to get pregnant

Erm no... Been on the pill the whole time until 2 weeks ago. Then we thought of doing the withdrawal method as we were so damn sure that it was not possible to get pregnant with no ejaculation inside. No we didn’t discuss about having babies just yet. But all other people using this method don’t want one either. Thank you.
So my understanding of the situation was entirely accurate?

Thanks guys 🙏🏻 We will need to use condoms then. I downloaded the app Flo to monitor my cycles. And just realized we used the withdrawal method twice on my ovulation day, and the day just before! Which means today I am around 12dpo. So risky. We won’t do that again. My period is supposed to start on Monday. Let’s see
Even using an app to gauge your fertile times is pretty useless without inputting extra data. An app will assume the date you ovulate based on 14 days before the end of your period but the phase between your ovulation and period but that time could be 10 days or 16 days. So unless you are monitoring other signs you’re fertile and know when to avoid, an app by itself isn’t that reliable. You’re also more fertile in the two days before you ovulate. If you’re using withdrawal method, you should read up about ovulation, your fertile days and the signs your body is getting close to ovulation.

Ten years ago I definitely got pregnant using the withdrawal method. Don’t rely on it unless you’re happy to welcome a new little addition to the family...

We've used withdrawal for two years with the caveat we're quite happy to be parents if it doesn't work. I have one DS and got pregnant first cycle we stopped using withdrawal (though that's ended in a random, hopefully unrelated, miscarriage now).

When people get pregnant from withdrawal, it means they haven't been doing it properly. Pregnancies happen because the man didn't pull out in time - men need to be quite skilled and aware of their bodies to do this properly.

It's a myth that there's a perm in pre-cum- the only way that's possible is if the man hasn't urinated since he last ejaculated.

I have used this method in the past and found it reliable as I have regular cycles and only did it when I knew I wasn't in my fertile phase and would be happy to have the baby if it did happen.
Around ovulation I would use condoms.

I've used the withdrawal method for 10 years with dh. No unwanted pregnancies, then we decided to have a baby and got pregnant on the first month. So it can work if you trust your partner implicitly to pull out in plenty of time.
