It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@Cams50 well looks like I spoke too soon lol AF just arrived 20 minutes ago! Usually it bums me out but this time I'm just glad that cycle is over and we can try again! I think this time around we're going to try smep and preseed. Have you ladies tried these before?

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 19:24

@Cams50 I’ve been completly put off it since stopping it! Agree with @Moocher90 maybe the copper coil as a last resort! I dont think I’ll get the OH to agree to the snip, he won’t even get the dog castrated, he feels like its an attack on his own manhood 😂😂

Moocher90 · 31/12/2020 19:20

Likewise

Never going on contraception again and will be doing FAM fertility awareness model or worst case the copper IUD.

Also to get healthy- will lose weight. Got a spin bike arriving hopefully next week.

Eventually go gluten and dairy free to see if it boosts my fertility

Get pregnant!

Cams50 · 31/12/2020 19:09

@ChinChilly yes I agree!! Get pregnant 😆 and I also agree that I don’t want to go back on the pill. At least until I’ve had all the children we want to have.

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 19:08

@Flowers222 mine was tested and it came back as 4.4 doctor also said they wouldn’t do anything about it as it was in the ‘normal’ range but she wouldn’t retest it until its been a year so I’m stuck in limbo! Good to hear yours came down, gives me hope!

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 19:01

@Moocher90 I know, its crazy I’m really not keen on going back on it at any point, I told OH he’ll have to get the snip, he didn’t look impressed 😂 my doctor said that the thyroid issue could be linked to the body settling down after contraception so fingers crossed that sorts its self out.

@Juno231 I don’t really know why I did it 😂😂 your new years resolutions sounds similar to mine plus I’m stealing one of @Kay00 resolutions ...GET PREGNANT!! 😂😂

Flowers222 · 31/12/2020 18:38

@MintGreenLife that's great news about your TSH! 2.18 is perfect! My TSH has been a worry so you have given me hope. I had my TSH tested a few months ago and it was 3.89 which made me panic a little. Spoke to my GP, who said she wouldn't do anything about it and I would need to speak to a fertility specialist. Had it tested the next month and it was 2.51 which I though was good enough! No idea what caused it to be so high so I am worried it will go up again.

MintGreenLife · 31/12/2020 18:22

@Juno231 that’s awesome about the fertility doc you will be seeing, although hopefully you won’t need to 🤞🏼 Brilliant the appointment has been brought forward too.

Thought I would send a little update for anyone that’s been concerned about their TSH. As you all know mine was 3.5 back in September, and then after cutting out gluten and dairy it was 2.5 a few months ago. I had it retested with the NHS and got the results today, as my local endocrinology department say it needs to be under 3.7 in the first trimester and it came back at 2.18 which I was really chuffed with. I’m still gluten and dairy free, but I’m thinking about reintroducing low lactose dairy in my second trimester to make sure I’m getting plenty of calcium.

Hope you are all well, and happy new year to you all 💕 xxx

Cams50 · 31/12/2020 18:18

@Juno231 oh and that’s amazing about your fertility doctor!! That’s such great and reassuring news

Cams50 · 31/12/2020 18:18

Happy New Year’s ladies!!! I hope we all get pregnant in 2021 🤞🏻❤️ as soon as possible lol. That’s crazy that we only have 3 months to have a 2021 baby!!

@ACNass welcome! Have you done a pregnancy test just in case?

@Juno231 those New Years resolutions are great. I might steal some of them!

Juno231 · 31/12/2020 17:53

@ACNass welcome! You've found the right place :) I'm afraid I can't help you based on my own experience but I'm pretty sure lots of the ladies in here have had random cycles like that post pill!

@Kay00 yeah her wiki page says she's a pioneer in natural ivf so I'm hopeful she'll be decent lol. My big fear is going to the assessment with OH and being told to relax or to stop bbt/opk cause it's pointless 🤪. That would give OH so much ammunition! 🤣

@ChinChilly pfft 9 DPO ain't worth shit, fingers crossed you see something in 2 days time 🤞

My new year's resolutions :

  1. Lose 10kg (I get a pass if I actually get pregnant though ha!)
  2. Read minimum one book per month
  3. Eat less meat
  4. Lower RHR (again a pass if preggers)

Hi ladies! May I join?
My husband and I are trying for our first. I'm 29 and he is 32. I came off the pill at the end of August. My first real cycle was 34 days and my second cycle was 28 days. I'm confident I ovulated both of those cycles because I tracked my BBT. This current cycle I decided to take a break from tracking BBT but I'm currently CD 39 and so confused. I feel like my period just disappeared. Anyone else have this sort of experience after coming off the pill?

Moocher90 · 31/12/2020 17:11

@ChinChilly you are not the only one!! I think we all really underestimate the toll hormonal birth control has on our bodies and how long it takes to regulate itself again xx

The amount of vitamins I take I should be rattling by now 😂😂

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 17:07

@Moocher90 I’m not sure what I expected as it wasn’t even FMU 😂 I know it really does seem like a lifetime away! When I came off the pill in June I honestly thought I’d be pregnant by now

Kay00 · 31/12/2020 17:06

@juno231 Bingo! What good luck! Hopefully shes ace at what she does and can work out what you can tweek to get your BFP!!

Interesting about the strips. My opk today was just 14% so either nothing is happening yet or I missed it 🤦‍♀️ We are DTD every other day so it doesn't matter too much either way.

New Years Resolutions:

  1. stop eating cake and go on a diet
  2. start running again (but maybe when the weather is a couple of degrees warmer)
  3. get pregnant!!

😆 have a good one ladies! 🍾🥂

Moocher90 · 31/12/2020 16:59

@ChinChilly you are not out until AF arrives xx it is really scary to think in 3 months time it won’t be a 2021 baby 😂😂 if feels like a lifetime away

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 16:58

Happy new year all, hope the next one is better 🥂🎉

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 16:57

@Moocher90 it’s been a nightmare, and I hate the car they’ve given me...tbh driving is quite painful so I don’t think I’ll be using it much!

@KGH5121 ooo we are close in dates! RHR normlly drops a couple of days before AF arrives!

@Juno231 scary we’ve only got 3 months to score a 2021 baby! Great news about your doctor though!

Well for some bizarre reason i POAS earlier 9dpo so was obviously stark white 😂

Moocher90 · 31/12/2020 16:43

@Juno231 that’s great news about the fertility doctor u will be seeing! Hopefully though u fall naturally though fingers cross like the rest of us on this thread xx

Happy New Year one and all!! I really hope it’s a positive year for us all and we get some BFPs on this thread xx

Juno231 · 31/12/2020 16:38

Happy new year girls! We've got 3 months to score a 2021 baby, no pressure 🤣. Kidding aside, I hope none of us have to stay on this thread for much longer ❤️.

@Moocher90 hello Londoner!

@Kay00 I think 28% counts as high only because it's the femometer app and femometer strips - they tend to barely show anything unless there's really something there if that makes sense lol. Eg compared to the purple ones (I never remember the brand name!), where lots of ladies seem to have relatively strong lines on there throughout the cycle anyway.

Did I mention I looked up the fertility doctor I'm seeing in Feb and she's the founder and Head fertility specialist of the fertility clinic near work. It's the one I've been considering for fertility help down the line if I end up going down the private route!

@abi555 and @MissC07 from coming off contraception at end of august it took 6 weeks for a withdrawal bleed then another 6 weeks for a period xx I thought I was being impatient as I had been on contraception for 15 years. My cycles are still not text book yet and I don’t think I ovulated at all during the first 3 months x it’s takes 100 days to make a good quality egg! If you haven’t been ovulating because of contraception

abi555 · 31/12/2020 16:22

Thanks @MissC07
I had a similar experience 2 weeks ago - very light bleed for a couple of hours and then nothing. Also got very excited at the time. I think in hindsight it may have been ovulation bleeding. Fingers crossed it is the same for you!

Happy NYE all, and hopefully a better year for everyone in 2021 with lots of baby dust all around!

MissC07 · 31/12/2020 16:14

@abi555 amazing news!! I've actually had some cramps and pink/brown spotting today at CD41, thought it was AF but it seems to have stopped now. I was so excited my body might be finally doing something post pill, but maybe not!!

Happy NYE all 🍾

abi555 · 31/12/2020 15:20

Very exciting day for me! AF has arrived for the first time since coming off the pill! Woooooooop! Very happy to see my body finally working again :) Took 2.5 months in the end, so I suppose I am luckier than many of you with longer waits.
I am absolutely certain this is the last time I will be happy to see AF however, as from next month will be back to dreading her return hah!
Fingers crossed for all you ladies waiting for your first as well that it comes quickly

KGH5121 · 31/12/2020 14:22

@Moocher90 so after reading your difference in temp readings, decided I'd try it this morning - it was almost a 0.2 difference but I think Google says that's quite normal. But I had evidence 🤤 that I was sleeping with my mouth open last night haha!

@Sperr if you can get hold of some cheapie ones, I'd say keep giving it a go. Have you been off the pill long? I don't think I ovulated the first couple of cycles off.

@minipilling I'm totally with you about the worry. We were going to start TTC in February but my DH was concerned and said to wait a month or 2 until it settles down haha! Things were looking up with the vaccine so we decided to start and now it's looking a bit crazy again 😯

@Katelyn99 I got EWCM about 6 days after ovulation and a dip in temp. Kay00 mentioned it could be due to a secondary estrogen surge.

@ChinChilly glad you're managing to sort some car stuff out. It's such a pain! Is RHR a useful indicator? We're close with days, I'm 10dpo today 🙂
