It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@LauraT94 it's the public post on social media that's the huge difference though! You literally see ladies post their pregnancy announcements using a still wet wee stick lol and bear in mind most women don't even know about CPs. I would never compare that to yours - family should def know if you'd like them for support (eg I wouldn't tell mine cause they'd be rubbish at supporting lol) plus you were past the CP stage.

And yes bartholin's cysts! This is weirdly the second one I've had in a year, normally I get them once in a blue moon. I've maybe only had half a dozen since I was 11? It seems fine today so maybe it's gone now.

Still no peak here girls - I know I'm spoilt by normally having ovulation early compared to many of you so I'm not going to complain but it's just confusing me a bit that it's not happened yet. CD16 and the latest I've ever ovulated was CD17 that one time in July lol.

@mrsmacmc it's a mouse wiggle day here too, got zero motivation! Was totally banking on being on mat leave by now!

@ChinChilly How's the neck? Any better?

@kay00 only 100 emails for me... I don't know how you'll get through that 1000!

@LauraT94 I would also tell me parents as soon as I knew for sure, we are really close and although I am 29 I would need my mom for a hand hold if it all went wrong. Yeah car crash was last Tuesday, got a million phone calls to make today as everything was on and off open over new year. About that...the other parties insurance company called me on Saturday and offered to pick up my car, repair it and supply me with a curtosy car, obviously my own insurance has already done all that, I’m not sure if it was a genuine phonecall has anybody heard of that before? Seemed abit odd

Rd123 · 04/01/2021 09:26

@LauraT94 oh no way! That’s encouraging to hear.. I had ovulation pains yesterday and day before and had CM which would indicate I was ovulating, just not sure if an egg was released or not! Will BD tonight and tomorrow just to make sure, you can never do enough ;) and I guess we’ll know in 2 ish weeks!

LauraT94 · 04/01/2021 09:24

Shit sorry for triple posting😂

But @ChinChilly I've obviously completely missed that you were in a car accident! Hope you're ok.

And @Juno231 I keep meaning to ask - is it a Bartholin cyst you're suffering with? I get these quite frequently so i can feel your pain! I used to try and drain mine but it would make them come right back and they were so painful! Now I leave them well alone, bathe the area in warm water a few times a day and sit with a hot wet flannel on it if it's painful and they go away completely by themselves within a few days! Even had one during this pregnancy. Hope it's not still hurting you ❤️

LauraT94 · 04/01/2021 09:21

@crabette will be interested to see how you get on with the clearblue! I only ever caught my peak on the Femometer strips through pure chance haha!

@mrsmacmc sorry that your AF pain is so intense! My go to is definitely a hot water bottle. And a strong coffee will help the painkillers to kick in too!

@Rd123 I had a LH surge on CD12 after coming off the pill, but I didn't actually ovulate that time! Had another surge later in the month and ovulated (and conceived!) On CD35. So just keep tracking and BDing - it's definitely possible for it to happen on the first go!

@Mol234 @Robyn101 good luck for your TWW - is it the first for both of you??

@Taliasometimes I didn't have a proper period after coming off the pill - just my withdrawal bleed which felt a bit like a period but apparently it's just set off by coming off the hormones! As I said above, I had an LH surge CD12 but didn't ovulate, thought it was an anovulatory month but actually had another surge and ovulated on CD35! I was incredibly lucky to conceive that cycle, even if I've lost it since! I do know that it can take some people longer to get that first confirmed ovulation but it will happen sooner or later 😊

LauraT94 · 04/01/2021 09:09

Thank you all for your messages of support! Sorry I didn't reply individually but I read them all ❤️

Still waiting for it to kick off! Already stocking up on OPKs etc ready for trying again haha, maybe a bit premature!

@Juno231 I know your recent comment wasn't anything to do with me, but i can't help but feel that yes, it's a little bit harsh 😂 I fell easily, and although I didn't announce publicly at 4 weeks, I did tell parents straight away and told siblings on Christmas Eve at 6 weeks. I was perfectly aware that 1 in 5 ends in miscarriage but I chose to celebrate my early weeks rather than fill myself with dread. And despite the fact I'm now miscarrying I'm glad I did that! Because I felt SO pregnant and happy for that first 6 weeks, because I was. And I'd hate for my family to never know about that. Hopefully you don't read this as an attack, I'm just trying to give a different opinion/viewpoint that people can still want to share their news early, regardless of miscarriage :) xx

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 08:54

Feel for you ladies back at work, I’m still off sick at the moment following the car accident, pretty sure my doctor will sign me off today though! Dread to think how many emails I will go back to when I’m finally back

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 08:52

@Kay00 AF hasn’t properly arrived yet, she’s just teasing me 😂 I’m not sure what I’m doing for the next cycle I’m either not going to track at all or I’m going to start temping! Totally agree on the lack of education, thank god for the internet!

@mrsmacmc my friend did the same by the time she was about 7 months pregnant i was like ‘how are you still pregnant’ 😂

@Emmgrem I’ve just looked through that thread, so glad I’m not the only one! Not gonna lie it felt like a massive kick in the gut especially that Elle Darby with her one month struggle! Maybe it’s just because AF is around the corner and so I’m feeling abit more sensitive! And as for Mrs Hinch that’s just ridiculous, I’ve seen somewhere she actually labelled that as fertility issues 🙄

Kay00 · 04/01/2021 08:44

@Emmgrem @ChinChilly It's amazing how many women (myself included) are really poorly educated about how reproduction actually works. We really need to be having more open conversations about the difficulties of getting pregnant and staying pregnant!

I'm back in work today too, and I don't want to be Sad... and I came back to nearly 1000 emails. So that'll keep me busy for the week!

Emmgrem · 04/01/2021 08:05

@ChinChilly have you seen the thread on here about that? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/4122658-can-t-take-this-anymore

I feel you! With Elle Darby saying she had ttc struggles because she didn't ovulate in the first month of coming off the pill 🤷🏻‍♀️ that's not even cycle 1!
And Mrs hinch saying in her book how she didn't get pregnant straight away after getting married so was worried they couldn't conceive. But then got married august and baby no.1 was here by June 🙈

mrsmacmc · 04/01/2021 07:52

@Juno231 morning - nah you aren't being harsh, she is a very different character to me (loves to be centre of attention). No sleep whatsoever for me last night - devoured 2 books on my kindle, couldn't get comfy. I had trepidation logging on this morning but there were only 4 emails sitting to be actioned. Today will be a mouse wiggle day for me! May your coffee be strong and your Monday short ❤️

Juno231 · 04/01/2021 07:39

@mrsmacmc a danger nap 🤣. Also lol at announcing at 4 weeks - I'd guess she fell pregnant easily and was blissfully unaware of miscarriage rates? Or am I being harsh 😅

I don't want to go back to work 😭

OP posts:
mrsmacmc · 03/01/2021 23:54

@ChinChilly I've noticed a lot of announcements too - even early early ones, Hope we all get the chance to announce soon (if we want to of course - it's not something we plan on doing - my sil announced when they were 4 weeks and it made her pregnancy seem to last an eternity!)

@Juno231 it certainly helped. I had a danger nap too after dinner 🙈 hope your peak comes soon and the cyst behaves itself!

@Kay00 here's hoping 🤞🏻 I don't think I could cope again tomorrow if it's like today

Hope everyone gets a good peaceful snooze tonight 😴 💤 ✨

Kay00 · 03/01/2021 23:06

@mrsmacmc I'm glad you're able to take another Naproxen before bed, and thank goodness for working from home!! 🙌😆 hopefully you'll wake up with no pain though x

@juno231 sounds like your FW is holding back, giving your cyst time to heal 😇

Im still getting negative OPKs but I feel my FW is imminent... my CM is getting more fertile.

@chinchilly sorry your AF arrived. Do you have any positives from this past cycle? And any plans for the next?

ChinChilly · 03/01/2021 22:13

@Juno231 it probably is, I think her name is Elle or something onlong those lines 😂 my RHR always goes erractic when there is alcohol involved. Annoying abou the cyst but hopefully it is starting to clear up

Juno231 · 03/01/2021 20:53

@ChinChilly ha on the other bus I'm on we've got quite a few ladies complaining about the same Instagrammer I think!

@Kay00 I'm sorry but I've got no advice for the dizziness :/

@mrsmacmc I'm glad you're feeling a bit better! Hot bath and paracetamol were def the right things to add xx

Still no peak here... My RHR is doing so well though now I'm doing dry Jan and am in my FP - it's gone down a full 12 bpm since xmas!

My cyst has had to be drained another 2-3 times this week 🙊 - really hope it goes away soon lol. The infection is pretty much gone though and it's much smaller/barely painful.

ChinChilly · 03/01/2021 20:31

@MissC07 I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed, I was on instagram on new years day and it was literally one after the other 🙄

I think i may start temping this cycle either that or not track anything at all 🤔

MissC07 · 03/01/2021 20:28

@ChinChilly I hear you with the instagrammers. My whole feed is full of pregnancy announcements at the moment!

As for my AF I had a light flow on Friday, brownish spotting yesterday, nothing today except once when I wiped! So god knows what's going on with my body!! I've started temping now to so hopefully might get some sort of sign or if not at least it's something to do whilst stuck in Tier 4!

ChinChilly · 03/01/2021 20:13

My positivity is wearing thin!! Day 2 of just browny pink slime when I wipe!

Just saw an instagrammer post about her TTC journey, she conceived first month but really mentally struggled for that month....SERIOUSLY 🙄

mrsmacmc · 03/01/2021 19:56

@FlyingGiraffe feeling a bit more comfortable now thanks. I'm counting down till I can take next naproxen as want to make sure I get a good sleep tonight - back at the works laptop tomorrow morning, thankfully I'm at home and not having to face a commute ❤️

Taliasometimes · 03/01/2021 19:56

@Kay00 @Mol234 @FlyingGiraffe thanks so much, great advice already!

Will deffo get the cheap test strips and tests everyday until I find the peak!

Mol234 · 03/01/2021 19:47

@Robyn101 yes defo looks like you have ovulated! How exciting you’re in your TWW!

@Taliasometimes hey! I’d recommend doing ovulation tests daily (you can get them really cheap off Amazon) as you may catch your ovulation before your first AF. I stopped my pill in September, still haven’t had my first proper period off the pill but managed to catch my peak (I think). You may be lucky and get your AF fairly soon but everyone’s different and it’s hard to tell when you’ll first ovulate when first coming off the pill, hormones can be a bit all over the place!

Kay00 · 03/01/2021 19:38

@taliasometimes Welcome! If it helps your nerves in 35 and trying to become a first time mum 😆

Your off the pill and had your withdrawal bleed(?), if so then your waiting to ovulate and then have a period (or BFP). Your apps might not be so good at helping you identify when ovulation will be (unless you are one of the lucky few!) as your cycles have been controlled by your contraceptive. So you might want to look out for cervical mucus that is either watery or egg white in consistency, as these will show up when you're fertile and uts time to do the deed!

FlyingGiraffe · 03/01/2021 19:34

@Kay00 Thanks so much for the vitamin info - it's amazing that its helped your lp get to 13-14 days. I may see how I go this next cycle and if not, come back to these! I'm so happy I got to 11 days this cycle, I don't dare change anything again just yet!

@mrsmacmc Glad the bath helped and hope you're feeling better this evening Smile

@Taliasometimes I'm in my mid 30's trying for our first too and have been amazed by how much I didn't know! These forums are so helpful. Once you've had your first period it will make things easier to start tracking, but see how you go - i'd be tempted to try cheap ovulation sticks for now just in case it takes a while to get your peak!

@KGH5121 and @Mol234 thank you for the welcome too Flowers

KGH5121 · 03/01/2021 19:19

@ACNass @FlyingGiraffe welcome to the group!

@abi555 @MissC07 yay for your AFs!

@Mol234 great news that the Drs aren't fobbing you off, always a nice feeling!

@HopeAndDriftWood Congrats on your peak! My DH and I started 'trying but not trying' too but myself in particular was getting obsessed haha!

@glow92 I was on Cerelle/similar for about 8 years too and had very few periods on it. Fortunately I had my 1st AF 24 days after coming off (but I think that was partly that I was on antibiotics not long before stopping it, had lots of diarrhea and forgot that it might affect the effectiveness of the pill and possibly had my withdrawal bleed then). But don't think I ovulated the first 2 cycles since I had come off the pill.
