Spoke to a nutritionist/dr of reproductive medicine today and she firmly believes low dose aspirin can help implantation as it gets the blood flowing, anyone had success with this..

@ScrantonDunderMifflin Thank you, that makes sense, I will stay away! Its hard when you want to do all you can to help things along but sometimes you just have to trust your body

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 09/02/2023 10:29

@TunnocksTCake I think what you're saying about preventing but also causing m/c is what the doctor said. If someone has blood clotting issues and takes aspirin, it will help prevent m/c. If someone doesn't have any of that and still takes it, it can increase the risk.

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 09/02/2023 10:27

I was told by a doctor that aspirin is only good for those who actually need it (I guess blood clotting issues). If you don't need it, it can have a negative effect. Even with two losses I was advised to not take it as got my bloods done and there was nothing to show any issues with blood clotting.
I was tempted to self-prescribe with the third pregnancy but decided not to after what the doctor said.
They say that if someone doesn't have blood clotting issues, APS, etc, and achieve a successful pregnancy having taken aspirin, it's a coincidence and the pregnancy would've been successful even without aspirin. Miscarriages are often due to bad luck, bad egg or things going wrong at fertilisation.

Following with interest. I have had 1 MMC and 2 chemicals and 1 live birth and ttc again now. I have read some things saying aspirin can increase the likelihood of mc but also can prevent it?! So confusing. Does anyone know in which situation it could increase mc risk? Do you need to know why you're mcing before trying aspirin in case you're one of the ones it could actually make it worse for - iyswim?!

Pebblessss · 08/02/2023 08:14

Ive had 3 mc’s, currently pregnant took aspirin from bfp but fetus died. So it looks like aspirin helps hold the pregnancy but that is all really.
i took it with my daughter and she was born healthy fullterm so not sure if aspirin actually helps.

bez91 · 19/12/2020 14:34

Interesting thread! I've had 2 MCs this year, recent one being a MMC and had to have surgical removal. I have been contemplating starting low dose aspirin this time around after doing a bit of reading as hospital won't advise or investigate until 3 MCs but really on the fence about it. Trying to up exercising as a means of a natural method for blood thinning

@BriocheBuns yes few days after ovulation. 150mg is now the standard uk guideline dose. It was just recently changed but it’s mainly what’s prescribed now for recurrent loss or blood pressure issues in pregnancy. It’s still a considered a very lose dose. 75mg was the old guidelines x

@Whatthefudgecake - so sorry to hear about your losses x

BriocheBuns · 18/12/2020 13:41

I have the 75mg at home, 150mg sounds a lot. Because I don’t track ovulation should I start taking it a couple days after my positive ovulation test? x

polkadotpixie · 18/12/2020 13:31

I took 75mg/day after ovulation for the first time the cycle I conceived. I did also have a HSG that cycle so I'm not sure which helped but something worked after 12 cycles

Whatthefudgecake · 18/12/2020 13:28

Great thank you! And congratulations x

2020wish · 18/12/2020 13:21

Start after u have ovulated. Advice has been mixed between after ovulation or when u get a BFP. I took it 3 days after ovulation to help with lining Of womb for implantation. I’ve been advised to take it until 36/37 weeks and I take it at night before bed.

And yes if af comes stop taking it and restart the cycle again after ovulation x

Whatthefudgecake · 18/12/2020 12:32

Ah glad I found this thread! I've had one miscarriage at 11w and then a chemical- so is it aspirin every day from ovulation for the entire pregnancy? And if AF arrives do you stop taking it and start again at ovulation?

2020wish · 18/12/2020 12:30

Sorry for typos didn’t proof read lol

2020wish · 18/12/2020 12:29

Around 5/7 weeks. I asked my doctor about but she wouldn’t prescribe it as it wasn’t in her spec of knowledge got recurrent loss. So I asked her to put it in my file anyway that I would be taking 150mg daily myself and to ensure I wasn’t contradicted. So I started it myself after my own research . When I had my 6 week scan and 12 week scan both the midwife and consultant mentioned starting me on aspirin and there please to know I had already started myself on it. 150mg daily is the new uk guideline amount . It used to be 75mg

BriocheBuns · 18/12/2020 12:07

@2020wish - aw lovely news 💓 I’ve had 3 losses too all very early on around 4 weeks. Were yours further on? Did someone advise you to take the aspirin or are u independently taking it? I’ve considered taking 75mg but don’t know if I should wait to see what the docs think, so far they’ve not mentioned it but I’ve read how beneficial it can be x

2020wish · 18/12/2020 11:57

After 3 recurrent losses I started taking 150mg aspirin from 3dpo and I’m now 26 weeks ❤️

BriocheBuns · 18/12/2020 11:38

When do u all start taking them? After ovulation? And do u stop when ur period arrives and start again after ovulation?

HipHipHooray7 · 18/12/2020 08:10

No success stories here but wanted to mention to those with 300mg aspirin tablets already, I think you can just cut them in to quarters

Rachel93x · 16/12/2020 17:47

I took these, although no luck that cycle , it resulted in having a longer period that month - although I've read so so many success stories it's worth a try as everyone is different.

I bought 75mg from Tesco in a yellow packet!

Best of luck :)

mumof23188 · 16/12/2020 17:01

Hi all can I just ask when you are taking them? Throughout the whole cycle or just after ovulation? Ive read such conflicting advice online. Thanks ☺️
