TTC no 2.

I decided (with full support from DH) that we should get on with TTC no 2...

I've said to myself that for we'll take a 'relaxed' approach to it for a few months (no temping, no SMEP etc) and see what happens, no great rush - took the best part of a year (incl a MC) to conceive DS so I don't expect it to be quick...

Except obviously it's now all I can think about as I approach what I think is my fertile week!!

Anyone else out there in the same boat and want to try and keep the madness on here and not in their heads?!

I got my first positive OPKs today!! And then peak this afternoon. It seems to have declined since and is now back to low, so I presume that was it.

I’m excited and nervous, and trying to remind myself that it probably won’t happen this time whatever I do...

Congratulations @Curiosity101!

Penguinmumma · 31/12/2020 09:32

Hi!
New here but also trying but not trying so to speak. Hubby knows I’ve decided but isn’t saying anything so I don’t get my hopes up with everything we went through to have our DD1. Just letting me jump him when the times right and ignoring it. Haha!
First cycle tracking this time so let’s see what happens!

feliznavidad2 · 30/12/2020 21:46

Congratulations @Curiosity101 x

Curiosity101 · 30/12/2020 08:09

Morning all. Just got my BFP(10DPO). 🤞 It's sticky.

Trying but not trying...anyone else?
larrythelizard · 28/12/2020 14:11

I hope so @cheesycheesycheesecheese but I've just ordered some super strength vitamin c and another vitamin blend thats meant to help regulate your cycle so will see....

Will keep temping...will at least try and track ovulation.

🤞🏼🤞🏼 for you @Curiosity101...

@larrythelizard That's frustrating. I've had a consistent 11day luteal phase since coming off of hormonal contraception in July. However, last cycle I started Levothyroxine for my hypothyroidism and last cycle had a 13 day luteal phase 🤷 could be something for you to look into if yours continues to be a bit short.

I caved and tested this morning. It was a BFN at 8DPO on an IC though so I'm not putting too much thought into it. I'm genuinely ok if that does turn out to be a genuine BFN but am excited to retest over the next few days.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 28/12/2020 13:46

Hopefully it's just a freak occurrence being 2 cycles @larrythelizard and your cycle will return to normal soon.

larrythelizard · 28/12/2020 13:14

Waah, AF has randomly shown up today...!

Not overly suprised that I'm not pregnant but now worrying that I've had two cycles in a row that were 27 days...I don't think I missed ovulation (had a positive on the opk) which might mean a short luteal phase which isn't good news...off to google...!

OP posts:
bravotango · 27/12/2020 21:28

I'm the same - symptom spotting like mad. Not totally convinced it's taken though as my "symptoms" are suspiciously similar to impending AF visit Grin Supposedly due NY Day so might do a test on NYE..

larrythelizard · 27/12/2020 16:47

@Curiosity101 later than I think but my cycle is rarely anything more than 30 days...we shall see, it's only another 4 days!

Curiosity101 · 27/12/2020 08:06

@larrythelizard What does natural cycles say? Is it earlier or later?

I have no idea when I got my BFP with DS. Working it backwards it was 9DPO but that's just based on his due date so just an estimate.

larrythelizard · 27/12/2020 07:58

Trying to hold out to New Years Day @Curiosity101.

I'm using Natural cycles and temping and I don't agree when AF is due which makes me wonder if I got ovulation right! - I think I'm 7DPO...?

I didn't get a BFP until the day before AF was due with DC1

Curiosity101 · 26/12/2020 20:10

@larrythelizard Fingers crossed for you. When are you planning to test?

I'm 6DPO today. Not symptom spotting, but can definitely tell I'm going to find it hard to resist testing from Monday (8DPO) onwards. My plan is to try and wait until Wednesday(10DPO) and do ICs each morning until either a hint of a BFP or AF. If I get a hint of a BFP I'll repeat the test with a FRER.

I've got the whole of next week off and am not back at work until the 4th so I'm going to try and focus on just enjoying the week. I don't want to wish it away as that'll mean going back to work and I definitely prefer being on holiday with DS and DH! Grin

larrythelizard · 26/12/2020 18:23

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

I've spent the last few days symptom spotting which is completely stupid!

Trying to resist the urge to rest early - I think it's a waste of money (FRER!) - I really don't think we had enough sex this month!

OP posts:
larrythelizard · 21/12/2020 12:45

Ah well @Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese just as were all so cool and collected about it...

I'm pretty sure I've ovulated now so now it's just a chance of waiting. Obviously not calling it the TWW! Hopefully Xmas stuff will distract me from any silly symptom spotting.

I genuinely don't expect to get pregnant this month, in my head it's some sort of practice with tracking my cycle!

Curiosity101 · 21/12/2020 10:47

@larrythelizard AF is due on the 3rd for me too 😁

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 21/12/2020 10:18

Thanks for the welcome @larrythelizard

I hope you all get your bfp's over the next week or so! Unfortunately af arrived early yesterday for me, so back to pretending I'm not fussed and just enjoying dtd with dh 🙃

larrythelizard · 20/12/2020 21:35

I'm behind you @Curiosity101 - AF not due until 3rd Jan. One of the things I told myself about this trying/not trying is that I'm not going to do early testing (let's see how long that lasts...!)

OP posts:
Curiosity101 · 20/12/2020 20:57

Just starting my TWW, I think a couple of us are in it at the moment? I'm hoping to test either 30th/31st so I know if I'll be drinking Prosecco or Nosecco at New Year Grin

lobster8 · 19/12/2020 07:59

Yeah hopeanddriftwood, I think it's a pretty standard fear! I remember worrying exactly the same before I had dd, and friends have said the same. I guess you don't know until you know, I recall being convinced I was going to be unable to get pregnant, I based this on no evidence just a gut feeling which was of course very wrong! Yep I said about the 20% chance each month and he knows it can easily take a year but i think when you've never tried before it's natural to have that niggling worry.

larrythelizard · 19/12/2020 07:56

Welcome @Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese I have lots of friends with a 2 year gap between their kids and it's a lovely gap! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

OP posts:
Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 18/12/2020 22:14

Can I join too please!! We started "not preventing" number 2 in October, I'm 3 days from af so fingers crossed.
Dh is so chill, I pretend to be, but I'm tracking ovulation and marking sex on the flo app.
I just want a baby brother or sister for ds with a nice 2 year age gap.

HopeAndDriftWood · 18/12/2020 22:08

Thanks @larrythelizard, that’s really reassuring to hear! My friends had their first children years ago when we were all really young, they weren’t planned, so it’s a bit of new ground (although most of them have subsequent kids and I guess some of those will have been! It’s never really been mentioned).

Enjoying some wine tonight, and I might have a look around YouTube too Smile

larrythelizard · 18/12/2020 17:51

@lobster8 @HopeAndDriftWood DC1 took pretty much a year (incl a MC). Most of my friends took 6m+ to conceive (discussed after the babies arrived not at the time), so 1 cycle is nothing.

I found quite a good YouTube first time round that said something like you only have about a 20% chance of getting pregnant each cycle so it's understandable it's not 'easy'!

You are all my people 🙈

No vitamins for me either yet @larrythelizard, I’m also pretending that it means I’m not really trying, ha!

I’ve been off the pill for a month and a half now - first withdrawal bleed was really crampy and painful. Then period was five days late... BFN on Tuesday, and period finally arrived yesterday, although it’s basically pain free and much more like it used to be in my teens, so I’m hoping things have settled down!

@lobster8 Bless him, that sounds hard. I’d like to offer helpful advice but I’m already thinking that I’m faulty as it didn’t happen this month and none of my friends even had to try 😬
