Clear blue Advanced Ovulation

Going to invest in this this month, and had a couple of questions -

What cycle day should I start? I think I O'd day 21 last cycle but not 100%, and still sorting cycle out after getting implant out

Do you have to do FMU? My issue is I wake up at least once a night to go to the loo. If I wake at 5, does that mean I do it then and go back to bed? I'd rather do every day after work but don't want to skew results.

How often do you DTD when smile starts flashing?
Thanks

Hi all- has anyone only had a flashing smiley for 1 day before the peak comes on? I’m a bit worried as everyone seems to get their high fertility/flashing smiley for days and I only have one day…

Momxx · 04/02/2021 08:56

Hi all, I’m new to this thread but I’m always looking on mumsnet.
Anyways, decided to give the clear blue advanced ovulation tests a try this month. So I had 4 days of flashing smileys and we DTD everyday on those high fertility days but then when I got my peak, my partner was working sad and we missed those 2 days when the static is constantly on the monitor.
We then DTD the day after the static smiley was gone so the day after the second peak day...
Has anyone had a BFP when using the clear blue advanced and missed DTD on the 2 peak days.
It was very frustrating seeing the static smiley and not being able to try on those main days and i feel like I’ve totally missed this month now!
I thought they were good though, they totally matched up to my cheapies and will defo use them again. If only you could buy the sticks separately! Xx

VNttc · 17/12/2020 11:33

Got my solid smiley 2 days ago and used cheapie sticks alongside in the afternoon. Interestingly the cheapie stick didn't show peak until the afternoon of that day! We'll see what happens, 5th month of using these now!

Birchtree4 · 17/12/2020 08:17

How is everyone getting on?

I got a solid smiley today after 7 days flashing, quite chuffed!

I bought the £40 ones because I love me an app. One box last me the two times and I still had sticks left over

Hufflypuf · 06/12/2020 09:34

@SweetShopSurprise I paid £30 for a pack of 20, you start testing on CD 8 - 12 so one pack should last the month

SweetShopSurprise · 06/12/2020 09:04

Can I ask how much these are? Are they the £25 ones? If so, how many do you get in a pack? Surely it’d cost about £50 a month to keep testing? Really tempted to try these this month but just wondering how costly it is?

HJen22 · 05/12/2020 21:56

@Sansa87 thank you! We've been doing that since end of AF to cover even when obligation / fertile days might change so I'm hoping these ovulation tests help too! I do it into a wee cup first thing too! Easier instead of aiming for a stick so early 😂

Sansa87 · 05/12/2020 21:44

@HJen22 we did it every other day from flushing smiley

HJen22 · 05/12/2020 20:55

@surreymum89 and @Sansa87 amazing! Such encouraging news! Congratulations to you both ❤️ and I'm so sorry you suffered a mmc, I can't imagine how heartbreaking that must be.

Does everyone recommend just DTD as much as possible as soon as flashing smiley? X

Sansa87 · 05/12/2020 20:31

I bought these back in May. I fell pregnant that cycle. Sadly we had a mmc. I started using them again in August & we did it again. Now 18+1

The second time I ovulated cd20 which was unusual and I would’ve missed had it not been for these bad boys.

I would recommend them to anyone.

I tended to wee in a glass in the morning, go back to sleep, then test when I woke up.

HJen22 · 05/12/2020 20:27

@Birchtree4 I got the flashing smiley today 👏🏻 phew, I was worrying I'd started way too early but I didn't want to miss it! Have prepared my bf for a couple extra shifts! My Ovia app changed my predicted ovulation but we've been sure to DTD every 2nd day so if it changes again should still be ok! Hoping tomorrow will be static smiley 🤞🏻 I'm CD11 and normally have pretty short cycles, about 25/26 days x

Fourth month trying to conceive*

surreymum89 · 05/12/2020 17:51

I used the clearblue ovulation on fourth month with my last pregnancy and after a few hit and months trying with this new pregnancy and got pregnant first month I used it both times!

In fact this time around we on dtd on the two flashing smiley faces and never got the opportunity from the day of the static smiley onwards , last pregnancy we also did a couple of days before and the day of the static smiley.

Good luck!

Birchtree4 · 05/12/2020 17:29

@newstart20 I havent used mine yet but have done a lot of reading. Some people find they get a solid smile if they test a second time in the evening (after 4 hour bladder hold) - thats my plan when I get a flasher! Maybe consider that?

Newstart20 · 05/12/2020 17:22

I'm now on CD 15 and still on flashing smileys! I thought my cycle was quite short so I should have ovulated by now, I'm hoping it'll change tomorrow.

Birchtree4 · 05/12/2020 15:13

@hjen22 how are you getting on? Any flashing yet?x

Birchtree4 · 05/12/2020 15:09

Congrats @lobsterravioli! You said you used it as soon as period finished. I am thinking of doing the same (even though my last cycle was 32 days). If you can remember, How many "blank" smilies did you get before it started flashing? I am a bit worried that if I start too early the results will be skewed and it'll start flashing early...

OP posts:
HJen22 · 01/12/2020 20:07

@Newstart20 sounds like a good plan! Right now we're DTD every 2nd day, mine is still low but I'm hoping we can do it a couple more times than that over fertile week when it changes to flashing! Fingers crossed it's flashing soon! I only bought a 10 pack so was annoyed I had to use three today! Now I know what I'm doing though, I'd not put the stick into the wee machine before I dipped! A lot to think about first thing in the morning 😂 x

LobsterRavioli · 01/12/2020 20:05

I got a solid smiley on the 10th, and had sex on the 10th and 11th.

I started using the ovulation tests as soon as my period finished as I wanted to see what "normal" was like.

I didn't get my BFP until 29th September so... circa 16/17 days dpo xx

Good luck everyone WineGrin

@HJen22 I am thinking DTD today and tomorrow, then it depends on what the sticks say. If they stay flashing we'll skip a day, if they change to indicate ovulation we'll do Thursday too. We'll probably do Saturday and/or Sunday too to make sure we're covered.

I've already used loads of them! It's our first month ttc so I want to make sure we cover my fertile week as much as possible.

HJen22 · 01/12/2020 16:01

@LobsterRavioli amazing! Any tips? And massive congratulations 🥰 xx

stressfullday · 01/12/2020 16:00

I did not find the digital ovulation tests accurate at all. This was in 2016, hopefully they have improved since then.

LobsterRavioli · 01/12/2020 15:35

Got pregnant with this first time, now 14 weeks x

HJen22 · 01/12/2020 15:32

Yeah I'm a bit worried I started too early! And two of the sticks didn't work / I did it wrong today so I ended up using 3. Fertile week should start tomorrow but I'm not so sure after a longer than normal cycle last month 🤷🏻‍♀️ hoping I don't have to buy another pack and get the static smiley before I run out! How often will you DTD now you have the flashing smiley if you don't mind me asking? X
