@KatBeCool - ah ok that's reassuring thank you! They're getting me in for a scan with the consultant tomorrow morning so fingers crossed if that is the case it's simple and can still go ahead with the transfer, even if a few days later than planned..!

KatBeCool · 13/05/2021 15:32

@starkid it's not uncommon for this to happen. I think there's medication you can take that'll thin out and it'll drain within days, as simple as cough syrup that has guaifenesin, like Robitussin.

starkid · 13/05/2021 12:30

So I had my final scan today before transfer next Tuesday, and my lining is currently 7mm which they were happy with. However, they can see fluid on the scan. They're worried it's fluid in one of my tubes, which could backflow into the uterus causing issues with my embryo implanting etc., so I'm waiting for a call back once they're spoken to one of the consultants, and might need to go back for another scan tomorrow. So not sure what to think to be honest, googling has freaked me out.

orangeloo · 01/05/2021 14:59

Thank you @ValidUser
@starkid glad to hear things finally going the right way for you.

I phoned when my bleed started and was told actually I need to wait for my next period for FET. I was okay with this as feels it gives my body more chance to get back in even keel. I've also started work again after being furloughed for a year and I feel shattered. So wouldn't want to have transfer while I feel so tired and getting back into pattern. Think FET will be end of may ish.

@starkid that's promising. Will cross things for you.

starkid · 29/04/2021 22:02

@KatBeCool ah good luck, waiting for af is so frustrating after so long wanting to avoid them haha

KatBeCool · 29/04/2021 21:45

@starkid great news, fingers crossed for you! I'm waiting for my AF in about a week and it's go time. I hope my body cooperates to do the fresh transfer. I'm tired of waiting! DH and I are on low carb diet, it is so hard! I miss my pastries! And cakes! And ice cream!

starkid · 29/04/2021 20:13

How is everyone doing?

I had another scan today and my lining was thin enough to start the estrogen/progynova tablets (and go back down to the 0.5ml of buserelin), ready for transfer hopefully on 18th May :)

starkid · 23/04/2021 16:15

@KatBeCool - overall I'm impatient haha! And anxious for it to work as we don't have any others frozen. Yeah hopefully they will only keep me on this higher dose until the scan then go back down to 0.5ml.

KatBeCool · 23/04/2021 14:34

@starkid probably a good thing that your period started. But I would've assumed they'd give you something else other than Buserelin since your dose keeps going up without desired results. How are feeling overall? Excited? Scared?

starkid · 23/04/2021 09:43

Oh well, my period ended up starting that afternoon anyway, but now I've got to stay on the double dose of Buserelin until next Thursday for another scan to check my follicles are definitely shrunk. Thankfully all being well, my transfer is now only a week later on May 18th :)
Getting strong headaches, sleepy and strangely spaced-out(?!) on the extra Buserelin!

starkid · 21/04/2021 14:54

@KatBeCool I didn't see the screen myself, no. And that's just what the consultant said was happening (they got her in too as she was around), but I probably misunderstood something along the way. Either way, the ovaries are still stimulated I'm to carry on on the higher dose until that pesky period shows up! Fingers crossed it's soon..

KatBeCool · 21/04/2021 14:46

@starkid lol well it's basically encouraging the ovaries to do nothing as its main job is to prevent ovulation. Maybe consider at least drinking (not alcohol 🤣) a lot. Were you able to see your ovaries during the scan?

starkid · 21/04/2021 14:26

@KatBeCool - thanks, yes maybe that's the case, they didn't mention OHSS but just said the Buserelin is currently actually encouraging what the ovaries are currently doing, but I guess they hope upping the dose will counteract that too. We've got a little mini UK break booked for end of May so that will probably mess up all my dates now with the delay, but alas.

KatBeCool · 21/04/2021 14:18

@starkid fingers crossed for you. The most important part is the egg collection, and you did that! Maybe it's minor ohss? They suggest to eat a lot of protein and salty foods, and drink electrolyte replacement drinks. As far as the cysts, they either go away or can be drained. It's not considered super serious, just takes time.

starkid · 21/04/2021 11:57

Hi everyone. I just went for my baseline scan for my FET, but my period hasn't started yet (day 38). They had a look and my ovaries seem to still be feeling the effects of the previous IVF round and are still stimulated. So they've upped my Buserelin dose from 0.5 to 1ml so hopefully it doesn't take too long to take effect. It means obviously my transfer will now be delayed.
Also I had cysts on both ovaries, compared to none during my treatment last time so something for them to keep an eye on. Frustrating but not much that can be done except more Buserelin and wait!

MotherOfShihTzus · 14/04/2021 21:59

I have my fingers crossed for everyone - I know we hear it so often but it really does take 1 ☺️ looking forward to all the good news that's coming in this group - @ValidUser you are proof!!
I'm looking like June for my first cycle; first nurses appt next week, from there I think we'll arrange the session teaching us injections x

ValidUser · 11/04/2021 17:39

@orangeloo my 15 eggs gave us 2 not quite blasts (not developed enough to grade) on day 5. Put both back in and one stuck and is sleeping on my chest now. The 5 days is awful. Crossing everything for you. 🤞

KatBeCool · 11/04/2021 15:11

@orangeloo it's definitely disappointing to see the numbers drop so drastically. 7 days of stims is a bit below average which is usually 9-11 days but not impossible. Fingers crossed for your one embryo.

starkid · 11/04/2021 13:52

@orangeloo - I'm so sorry the 21 eggs didn't materialise into a higher number of fertilised ones for you, but fingers crossed for those 4, and you've got your top frozen blastocyst too (same boat as me in that sense). Would be great to be around the same time for transfer xx

orangeloo · 11/04/2021 13:36

@MotherOfShihTzus hey glad you got a diagnosis. Just take it one step at a time and look after yourself. It's is a lot of meds but it will be worth it.

Egg collection was last Friday, got 21 eggs only 4 mature :( 4 fertilised. We have one top quality blastocyst frozen waiting for us. I couldn't have a fresh as they were concerned about OHSS but I was fine. It was a tough 5 days. I know we are lucky to have one but that first phonecall was so disheartening - going from such a high of 21. I only had 7 days of stims so think my dose was too high and ovaries went to much too fast. FET should be next cycle all being well.

Exciting you have a date for your FET @starkid we may be transferring around the same time.

@MotherOfShihTzus I mentioned a while back, I'm not in UK so nhs doesn't quite apply. I just couldn't stand other forums I found, where you can't mention symptoms, or you can't mention bfp, or you can't ask about meds. But regardless of that, I'm paying myself.

On an unexpected note AF is here making it a 24-day cycle. Not happy.

MotherOfShihTzus · 09/04/2021 10:45

@starkid of course! I bet may 11th can't come quick enough ☺️ how are you feeling about it?

@KatBeCool fair enough :) I always struggle to ID if the line is stronger than the base line 😂 but knowing now I have PCOS - my hormones probs weren't right anyway!
Yes I am taking NAC - started in nov so should be in my system properly. Hydrox they say 6 weeks before a cycle so that should be bang on - if they ever call to book nurse appt! Started it yesterday and been rather sickly/ upset stomach (as with metformin) so it does feel strong. Metformin - the dr said to try and get on it for life if I can! And it's meant to have anti-ageing qualities so we shall see. So still pushing ahead with ivf as I'm with nhs, so everything takes forever anyway. Are you private or nhs? I'm wondering whether it's possible to get the intralipids on the nhs - to avoid the travel if nothing else!

KatBeCool · 08/04/2021 17:23

@MotherOfShihTzus I used digital ones way back, the strip ones always coincided with what the digital one said. So I stop spending money on them. Last cycle I got a clear positive so I don't know what happened this time.
I also have intralipids prescribed to do at least once just before the transfer. It's more of a precautionary measure. You surely have a nice array of medications. Hydroxycloroquine is what they thought could treat covid at first, but it's actually prescribed for lupus. So it's pretty powerful. If you aren't taking NAC, please do. All these medications will be hard on your liver. Do you need to take it all for a while before you proceed?

starkid · 08/04/2021 11:49

@MotherOfShihTzus - hi, I've not heard of it before, but good luck especially with the trips! Fingers crossed it's worth it :)
Mine's a frozen cycle with my 7-day blastocyst, with transfer on 11th May :)
